Abstract:This paper generalizes the Fan-Knaster-Kuratowski-Mazurkiewicz (FKKM) lemma to the case of weak topology, and obtains the Ky Fan minimax inequality defined on non-empty non-compact convex subsets in reflexive Banach spaces, then we apply it to game theory and obtain Nash's existence theorem for non-compact strategy sets, together with John von Neumann's existence theorem in two-player zero-sum games.

Abstract:We prove three results on the existence and structure of Nash equilibria for quasisupermodular games. A theorem is purely order-theoretic, and the other two involve topological hypotheses. Our topological results genralize Zhou's theorem (for supermodular games) and Calciano's theorem.

Abstract:The fundamental theorem of game theory states that for every matrix game with finite strategies there exists at least one optimal strategy. It is known that the fundamental theorem of game theory does not hold, in general, in infinite matrix games. In this paper, we provide a characteristic of Nash equilibriums for ∞×∞ matrix games and prove an existence theorem of optimal strategies by using the Fan–KKM theorem. We give some applications of these theorems.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the concept of split Nash equilibrium problems associated with two related noncooperative strategic games. Then we apply the Fan-KKM theorem to prove the existence of solutions to split Nash equilibrium problems of related noncooperative strategic games, in which the strategy sets of the players are nonempty closed and convex subsets in Banach spaces. As application of this existence to economics, an example is provided to study the existence of split Nash equilibrium of utilities of two related economies. As applications, we study the existence of split Nash equilibrium in the dual extended Bertrant duopoly model of price competition

Abstract:In this paper, we first provide a simple variational proof of the existence of Nash equilibrium in Hilbert spaces by using optimality conditions in convex minimization and Schauder's fixed-point theorem. Then applications of convex analysis and generalized differentiation are given to the existence of Nash equilibrium and extended versions of von Neumann's minimax theorem in locally convex topological vector spaces. Our analysis in this part combines generalized differential tools of convex analysis with elements of fixed point theory revolving around Kakutani's fixed-point theorem and related issues.

Abstract:In this paper, I prove the existence of a pure-strategy Nash equilibrium for a large class of games with nonconvex strategy spaces. Specifically, if each player's strategies form a compact, connected Euclidean neighborhood retract and if all best-response correspondences are null-homotopic, then the game has a pure-strategy Nash equilibrium. As an application, I show how this result can prove the fundamental theorem of algebra.

Abstract:The KKM theorem, due to Knaster, Kuratowski, and Mazurkiewicz in 1929, is a fundamental result in fixed-point theory, which has seen numerous extensions and applications. In this paper we survey old and recent generalizations of the KKM theorem and their applications in the areas of piercing numbers, mass partition, fair division, and matching theory. We also give a few new results utilizing KKM-type theorems, and discuss related open problems.

Abstract:I consider n-person normal form games where the strategy set of each player is a non-empty compact convex subset of an Euclidean space, and the payoff function of player i is continuous in joint strategies and continuously differentiable and concave in the player i's strategy. No further restrictions (such as multilinearity of the payoff functions or the requirement that the strategy sets be polyhedral) are imposed. I demonstrate that the graph of the Nash equilibrium correspondence on this domain is homeomorphic to the space of games. This result generalizes a well-known structure theorem in [Kohlberg, E., Mertens, J.-F., 1986. On the strategic stability of equilibria. Econometrica 54, 1003–1037]. It is supplemented by an extension analogous to the unknottedness theorems in [Demichelis S., Germano, F., 2000. Some consequences of the unknottedness of the Walras correspondence. J. Math. Econ. 34, 537–545; Demichelis S., Germano, F., 2002. On (un)knots and dynamics in games. Games Econ. Special attention is paid to the case that the topology is induced by a metric. Our conclusions generalize many well-known results. Several examples and illustrative applications are provided to support the exposed results.

Abstract:We establish results connecting the uniform Liouville property of group actions on the classes of a countable Borel equivalence relation with amenability of this equivalence relation. We also study extensions of Kesten's theorem to certain classes of topological groups and prove a version of this theorem for amenable SIN groups. Furthermore, we discuss relationship between generalizations of Kesten's theorem and anticoncentration inequalities for the inverted orbits of random walks on the classes of an amenable equivalence relation. This allows us to construct an amenable Polish group that does not satisfy the limit conditions in combinatorial extensions of Kesten's theorem.

Abstract:In this article, we prove some novel fixed-point results for a pair of multivalued dominated mappings obeying a new generalized Nashine–Wardowski–Feng–Liu-type contraction for orbitally lower semi-continuous functions in a complete orbital b -metric space. Furthermore, some new fixed-point theorems for dominated multivalued mappings are established in the scenario of ordered complete orbital b -metric spaces. Some examples are offered to demonstrate the validity of our new results' premise. To demonstrate the applicability of our findings, applications for a system of nonlinear Volterra-type integral equations and fractional differential equations are shown. These results extend the theoretical results of Nashine et al. (Nonlinear Anal., Model. Control 26(3):522–533, 2021).

To this end we introduce a new concept of convexity for maps and multivalued maps in spaces without linear structure. The discussion on convexity is enriched with some example useful to compare the new conditions with the existing one in literature. Finally, we apply the existence results obtained to a Nash equilibrium problem and to a maximization of a binary relation.

Abstract:We introduce several KAM theorems for infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian with short range and discuss the relationship between spectra of linearized operator and invariant tori. Especially, we introduce a KAM theorem by Yuan published in CMP (2002), which shows that there are rich KAM tori for a class of Hamiltonian with short range and with linearized operator of pure point spectra. We also present several open problems.

Abstract:Pfister and Sullivan proved that if a topological dynamical system $(X,T)$ satisfies almost product property and uniform separation property, then for each nonempty compact %convex subset $K$ of invariant measures, the entropy of saturated set $G_{K}$ satisfies \begin{equation}\label{Bowen's topological entropy} h_{top}^{B}(T,G_{K})=\inf\{h(T,\mu):\mu\in K\}, \end{equation} where $h_{top}^{B}(T,G_{K})$ is Bowen's topological entropy of $T$ on $G_{K}$, and $h(T,\mu)$ is the Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy of $\mu$. In this paper, we investigate topological complexity of $G_{K}$ by replacing Bowen's topological entropy with upper capacity entropy and packing entropy and obtain the following formulas: \begin{equation*} h_{top}^{UC}(T,G_{K})=h_{top}(T,X)\ \mathrm{and}\ h_{top}^{P}(T,G_{K})=\sup\{h(T,\mu):\mu\in K\}, \end{equation*} where $h_{top}^{UC}(T,G_{K})$ is the upper capacity entropy of $T$ on $G_{K}$ and $h_{top}^{P}(T,G_{K})$ is the packing entropy of $T$ on $G_{K}.$ In the proof of these two formulas, uniform separation property is unnecessary.

Abstract:The authors' primary goal in this paper is to enhance the study of topological spaces by using the order of specialization of a -space to introduce the lower topology (with a subbasis of closed sets ) and studying the interaction of the original topology and the lower topology. Using the lower topology, one can define and study new properties of the original space that provide deeper insight into its structure. One focus of study is the property R, which asserts that if the intersection of a family of finitely generated sets , finite, is contained in an open set , then the same is true for finitely many of the family. We first show that property R is equivalent to several other interesting properties, for example, the property that all closed subsets of the original space are compact in the lower topology. We then find conditions under which these spaces are compact, well-filtered, and coherent, a weaker variant of stably compact spaces. We also investigate what have been called strong -spaces, develop some of their basic properties, and make connections with the earlier considerations involving spaces satisfying property R. Two key results we obtain are that if a dcpo with the Scott topology is a strong -space, then it is well-filtered, and if additionally the Scott topology of the product is the product of the Scott topologies of the factors, then the Scott space of is sober. We also exhibit connections of this work with de Groot duality.
