Abstract:The procedure of double extension of vector spaces endowed with non-degenerate bilinear forms allows us to introduce the class of generalized -oscillator algebras over an arbitrary field . Starting from basic structural properties and the canonical forms of skew-adjoint endomorphisms, we will proceed to classify the subclass of quadratic nilpotent algebras and characterize those algebras with quadratic dimension 2. This will enable us to recover the classification of real oscillator algebras, a.k.a Lorentzian algebras, given by Medina et al. (Ann Sci École Norm Sup 18:553–561, 1985).

Noncommutative symmetric functions and skewing operators

Abstract:Skewing operators play a central role in the symmetric function theory because of the importance of the product structure of the symmetric function space. The theory of noncommutative symmetric functions is a useful tool for studying expansions of a given symmetric function in terms of various bases. In this paper, we establish a further development of the theory for studying skewing operators. Using this machinery, we are able to easily reproduce the Littlewood--Richardson rule, and provide recurrence relations for chromatic quasisymmetric functions, which generalizes Harada--Precup's recurrence.

Abstract:Let A and B be two bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space. B is called the skew commutator of A if In this paper, we completely characterize when a Toeplitz operator on the Hardy space is a skew commutator of a Hankel operator and when a Hankel operator on the Hardy space is a skew commutator of a Toeplitz operator. Moreover, we also obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the product of a Hankel operator and a Toeplitz operator to be self-adjoint on the Hardy space.

Suppose F(.) is a unitary invariant norm, the pseudo spectra, the pseudo spectral radius, the C-numerical range, or the C-numerical radius for some finite rank operator C. Abstract:Given a bounded strongly pseudoconvex domain $D$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$ with smooth boundary, we give a characterization through products of functions in weighted Bergman spaces of $(\lambda,\gamma)$-skew Carleson measures on $D$, with $\lambda>0$ and $\gamma>1-\frac{1}{n+1}$.

Abstract:In this paper, first we introduce the notion of a skew-Hom-Lie algebra and give some examples. Then we study their representations and give the coboundary operator of skew-Hom-Lie algebras. As an application, there have a skew-Hom-Lie algebra $(R^4_2,[\cdot,\cdot]_\theta,P)$ in semi-Euclidean spaces. For the null space of Semi-Euclidean spaces, there have a subset $V^*$ of the null space, and $V^*$ is invariant under the actions of $[\cdot,\cdot]_\theta$ and $P$.

Abstract:Using the vertex operator representations for symplectic and orthogonal Schur functions, we define two families of symmetric functions and show thatthey are the skew symplectic and skew orthogonal Schur polynomials defined implicitly by Koike and Terada and satisfy the general branching rules. Furthermore, we derive the Jacobi-Trudi identities and Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns for these symmetric functions. Additionally, the vertex operator method yields their Cauchy-type identities. This demonstrates that vertex operator representations serve not only as a tool for studying symmetric functions but also offers unified realizations for skew Schur functions of types A, C, and D.

Abstract:In the setting of the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^n$ we consider a pseudo-differential operator $A$ whose symbol belongs to a class defined on $\mathbb{Z}^n\times \mathbb{T}^n$, where $\mathbb{T}^n$ is the $n$-torus. We realize $A$ as an operator acting between the discrete Sobolev spaces $H^{s_j}(\mathbb{Z}^n)$, $s_j\in\mathbb{R}$, $j=1,2$, with the discrete Schwartz space serving as the domain of $A$. We provide a sufficient condition for the essential adjointness of the pair $(A,\,A^{\dagger})$, where $A^{\dagger}$ is the formal adjoint of $A$.

Abstract:Whenever we have a group acting on a class of functions by translation, the bispectrum offers a principled and lossless way of representing such functions invariant to the action. Unfortunately, computing the bispectrum is often costly and complicated. In this paper we propose a unitarily equivalent, but easier to compute set of invariants, which we call the skew spectrum. For functions on homogeneous spaces the skew spectrum can be efficiently computed using some ideas from Clausen-type fast Fourier transforms.

Abstract:We develop the theory of Schur covers of finite skew braces. We prove the existence of at least one Schur cover. We also compute several examples. We prove that different Schur covers are isoclinic. Finally, we prove that Schur covers have the lifting property concerning projective representations of skew braces.

On eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the operators defining multidimensional scaling on some symmetric spaces

Abstract:We study asymptotics of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the operators used for constructing multidimensional scaling (MDS) on compact connected Riemannian manifolds, in particular on closed connected symmetric spaces. They are the limits of eigenvalues and eigenvectors of squared distance matrices of an increasing sequence of finite subsets covering the space densely in the limit. We show that for products of spheres and real projective spaces, the numbers of positive and negative eigenvalues of these operators are both infinite. We also find a class of spaces (namely $\mathbb{RP}^n$ with odd $n>1$) whose MDS defining operators are not trace class, and original distances cannot be reconstructed from the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of these operators.

Abstract:We deal in this work with a class of graphs, namely, the class of distance-regular graphs, in which on the basis of $k$-adjacency operators, the adjacency operator $A$ of a distance-regular graph is identified as a Jacobi matrix. To get so, the set of the $k$-adjacency operators is recognized as a canonical basis in a certain Hilbert space, where the spectrum of the Jacobi matrix coincides with the support of the measure of $A$. The obtained identification permits a deeper spectral analysis of the graph. The finite-dimensional case is addressed by means of the extension theory of nondensely defined, symmetric linear operators.

Abstract:We investigate the skew-adjoint extensions of a partial derivative operator acting in the direction of one of the sides a unit square. We investigate the unitary equivalence of such extensions and the spectra of such extensions. It follows from our results, that such extensions need not have discete spectrum. We apply our techniques to the problem of finding commuting skew-adjoint extensions of the partial derivative operators acting in the directions of the sides of the unit square. While our results are most easily stated for the unit square, they are established for a larger class of domains, including certain fractal domains.
