Abstract:During the fall of 1985, 4 Angora goats, from a herd of 40, were examined on a farm in central Michigan. Affected goats were alert but had neurologic deficits consistent with upper and lower moto neuron involvement. Eosinophilic pleocytosis in a cerebrospinal fluid sample from one goat was consistent with cerebrospinal nematodiasis. Parelaphostrongylosis was confirmed in 3 goats by identification of Parelaphostrongylosis tenuis larvae in spinal cord sections. Ivermectin may have influenced the herd's susceptibility to new parasitic infections. Control of parelaphostrongylosis probably is best achieved by removal of susceptible animals from treed swamps coinhabited by white-tailed deer from late summer until after the first killing frost.
SEM evaluation of canal wall dentine following use of Mtwo and ProTaper NiTi rotary instruments

Abstract:Aim: To compare using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) root canal walls following instrumentation in vitro with two different rotary NiTi instruments. The hypothesis was that no difference should be observable between the experimental groups in terms of debris on canal walls and surface morphology. Methodology: Twenty-four single-rooted human teeth were selected. Two types of NiTi instruments were used, Mtwo (Sweden & Martina, Padova, Italy) and ProTaper (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). Irrigation for both groups was performed after each instrument change with 5% NaOCl, 3% H2O2 and 17% EDTA solutions. Three different areas (coronal, middle and apical thirds) of the root canal were evaluated using SEM. The canal wall of each sample was assessed and compared using a predefined scale of four parameters, namely, smear layer, pulpal debris, inorganic dentine debris, surface profile. Data were analysed statistically using the Kruskal-Wallis test (anova). Results: A statistically significant difference (P < 0.01) was found between the apical third and the middle and coronal thirds for both groups. No difference was observable between instrumentation groups. In the apical third canal walls were often contaminated by inorganic debris and by smear layer. In the apical third, the surface profile was affected by uninstrumented regions, comprising dentine depressions and grooves in which predentine was still visible. Conclusion: Both instruments produced a clean and debris-free dentine surfaces in the coronal and middle thirds, but were unable to produce a dentine surfaces free from smear layer and debris in the apical third. The presence of deep grooves and depression on dentine walls in the apical third may well explain the presence of less-instrumented areas.

Abstract:Background: Endodontic success depends on the complete cleaning and shaping of the root canal. In order to achieve this goal, debris removal is essential. Even with improvements in instrument design, apical debris extrusion continues to be a cause of periradicular inflammation. The current study aimed to compare the amount of apically extruded debris throughout the canal instrumentation with TruNatomy, ProTaper Next, 2Shape rotary systems. Methods: A total of 60 freshly extracted single‑rooted mandibular premolars were used. An access opening was made, and a working length was estimated. The samples were arbitrarily allocated into three groups i.e. Group I: TruNatomy (n = 20), Group II: ProTaper Next (n = 20), Group III: 2Shape (n = 20). During the canal instrumentation, the extruded debris were collected in preweighed Eppendorf tubes. Post-instrumentation, the tubes were placed in a hot air oven at 140°C for five hours. For calculating the dry debris weight, the tube's pre-instrumentation weight was deducted from the post-instrumentation weight. The data was analysed using one‑way analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey's test. Results: Extrusion of debris was noted in all the specimens. TruNatomy rotary system showed least debris extrusion in comparison to ProTaper Next and 2Shape (P < 0.05). However, the results were statistically non-significant between ProTaper Next and 2Shape (P > 0.05). Conclusions: It was noted that all instruments apically extruded debris, with TruNatomy system being related to minimum extrusion.
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF APICAL EXTRUSION OF DEBRIS AND SHAPING ABILITY IN CURVED ROOT CANALS USING FOUR DIFFERENT NITI INSTRUMENTS

Abstract:Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the apical extrusion of debris, apical transportation (AT) and centering ratio (CR) after root canal preparation using Reciproc, ProTaper, ProTaper Next (PTN) and Revo-S. Materials and methods: Sixty extracted human mandibular premolars with a curvature angle of 25 degrees and the same length were randomly divided into four groups (n=15). All root canals were shaped to size of 25: ProTaper Next X2 (Dentsply Maillefer), Reciproc (R25; VDW, Munich, Germany), Revo-S SU (25#, .06; MicroMega, Besancon, France) and ProTaper F2 (25#, .08; Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). All roots were sectioned perpendicularly at 1, 3, 5 and 7 mm from the apex and were scanned by a micro-CT before and after the preparation. During this process, collect the debris of each tooth and weigh it three times consecutively. The amount of apical debris extrusion, AT and CR of teeth were recorded and compared between the groups by using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: In terms of extruded debris, all specimens showed apical debris extrusion, and no statistically significant difference was obtained among them (P>.05). In terms of transportation, there was no significant difference among the four groups (P >0.05); in terms of centering ratio, PTN and Revo-S had significantly higher (closer to C=1) centreing ratios than Reciproc and ProTaper. There was a significant difference between PTN and ProTaper (P<0.05), PTN and Reciproc (P<0.05), ProTaper and Revo-S (P<0.05) at 3 mm and 5 mm from the apical surface, but there was no significant difference in the mean centering ratio at 1 mm or 7 mm from the apical surface among the four groups. Conclusion: ProTaper Next and Revo-S prepared a more centered root canal shapes. All instruments caused extrusion of debris through the apex.

Abstract:Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the dentin thickness of the mesio-buccal canal of the lower first molar after canal preparation with three different rotary file systems using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methodology: TruNatomy (Dentsply Sirona, USA), 2Shape (Micro-Mega, France), and One Curve (Micro-Mega, France) were the three different rotary files that were employed. A total of 45 excised human permanent first mandibular molars were divided into Groups A (TruNatomy), B (2Shape), and C (One Curve) at random. To measure the residual dentin thickness at 3 mm, 5 mm, and 7 mm from the radiographic apex, the mesial root of the tooth was removed from the tooth, and a mesio-buccal canal was taken. Samples were mounted in clear acrylic resin and were subjected to a pre-instrumentation CBCT scan. The mesio-buccal canal was cleaned and shaped while maintaining the final mesio-buccal canal preparation of Group A - 26/0.04, Group B - 25/0.04, and Group C - 25/0.04. The samples were extensively irrigated with 3% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA, and a post-instrumentation scan was performed on them. Statistics were used to determine the values from CBCT scans that were recorded for pre- and post-instrumentations. Results: The results showed that Group A had the greatest drop in dentin thickness, followed by Group B and Group C. The change in dentin thickness was greatest at 3 mm and 7 mm. Conclusion: In contrast to TruNatomy and 2Shape rotary file systems, One Curve has the advantage of maintaining a tooth's thickness at 3 and 7 millimeters from the radiological apex. Since the TruNatomy file system removes more dentin than the other two combined, it should be used cautiously. Choosing the right instrument is crucial for cleaning and shaping during root canal preparation.

Abstract:This study was conducted to reveal the relation between herbal medicine Fufang decoction and a single drug in terms of material base. Da-Cheng-Qi decoction (DCQD) was used as a model. Ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with a hybrid linear ion trap-high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap) was applied to detect and identify the main chemical compounds. This technique was also employed to determine the different chemical components. Under optimized liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry conditions, 64 components, including iridoids, flavonoids, anthraquinones and coumarins, were separated and tentatively characterized in Da-Cheng-Qi decoction. After decoction, the contents of 18 compounds were markedly changed, and two components were no longer detected in Fufang decoction compared with single-medicine decoction. The established method provided a good example for the rapid identification of complicated polar constituents in herbal medicine prescriptions.
Bias Reduction of Long Memory Parameter Estimators via the Pre-filtered Sieve Bootstrap

Abstract:This paper investigates the use of bootstrap-based bias correction of semi-parametric estimators of the long memory parameter in fractionally integrated processes. The re-sampling method involves the application of the sieve bootstrap to data pre-filtered by a preliminary semi-parametric estimate of the long memory parameter. Theoretical justification for using the bootstrap techniques to bias adjust log periodogram and semi-parametric local Whittle estimators of the memory parameter is provided. Simulation evidence comparing the performance of the bootstrap bias correction with analytical bias correction techniques is also presented. The bootstrap method is shown to produce notable bias reductions, in particular when applied to an estimator for which analytical adjustments have already been used. The empirical coverage of confidence intervals based on the bias-adjusted estimators is very close to the nominal, for a reasonably large sample size, more so than for the comparable analytically adjusted estimators. The precision of inferences (as measured by interval length) is also greater when the bootstrap is used to bias correct rather than analytical adjustments.

Abstract:A BSTRACT Background: Effective endodontic instrumentation aims to remove microorganisms, debris, and tissue from the root canal while maintaining dentinal integrity. This study compares dentinal defect incidence following canal preparation with different hand files, nickel-titanium rotary files, and reciprocating files Materials and Methods: Eighty single-rooted mandibular premolars with mature apices were collected. Four groups ( n = 20) were established based on canal patency establishment, canal preparation technique, irrigation solution, and final irrigation. After root sectioning at 3 mm, 6 mm, and 9 mm from the apex, slices were examined under a stereomicroscope, and dentinal defects were recorded. A second examiner reviewed the images. Results: The results showed significant difference of P = 0.031 among Hand files vs. Rotary ProTaper files: In Hand files vs. Reciprocating WaveOne files significant difference was P = 0.048, and for rotary ProTaper files vs. Reciprocating WaveOne files: No significant difference ( P = 0.643). Dentinal defect counts were similar at 3 mm, 6 mm, and 9 mm. Statistically significant variation was observed between hand files and rotary files, as well as hand files and reciprocating files Conclusion: Both rotary and reciprocating files showed a statistically significant increase in dentinal defect incidence compared to hand files. However, clinical implications should be considered cautiously. Instrumentation technique selection should be based on clinical context, operator experience, and patient factors. Further clinical studies are needed for validation.

Abstract:Aim: This study set out to compare the damage done to dentin by three distinct titanium file brands - the Hyflex EDM, the ProTaper Next, and the Waveone Gold Nickel - in order to draw conclusions about which one is the most effective. Materials and methods: Forty-first premolars in the mandible with straight canals and single roots were instrumented using Hyflex EDM, Waveone Gold, and Protaper Next. Dentinal flaws after endodontic treatment were studied by sectioning specimens using a hard tissue microtome and analyzing them under a stereomicroscope. Results: There was no discernible variation between the groups in the coronal third (p=0.312) or apical third (p=0.076). Hyflex EDM and Protaper Next differed significantly in the middle portion of the tape (p=0.016). The Hyflex EDM sample had the fewest cracks. There was no statistically significant difference between Hyflex EDM and Waveone Gold; however, Hyflex EDM had fewer fractures in the middle third of the sample than Waveone Gold did. Conclusion:Electric discharge machining (EDM) files made from Hyflex proved to be far superior to their Protaper Next and Waveone Gold counterparts as they induced the fewest cracks in the middle third of the root dentin.

Abstract:Aim: An assessment and comparison of three retreatment files was conducted to determine their effectiveness in the retrieval of gutta-percha. Materials and Method: In the investigation, 60 extracted single-rooted human teeth having straight canals and complete apices were used. The ProTaper Universal file system was used to prepare teeth and obturated using gutta-percha with sealant AH Plus utilizing down pack and backfill obturation technique. Removal was performed with ProTaper, D-RaCe files, MTwo, and R-Endo retreatment files. Using a stopwatch, the time needed to take out the GP was also calculated in seconds. We used ANOVA along with the post hoc Tukey’s test to analyze the quantity of obturating material in apical, middle, and coronal third following decoronation and longitudinal splitting. Results: The average percentage of gutta-percha points removed across root levels varied significantly among the ProTaper, D-RaCe MTwo, and R-Endo groups. With the exception of the ProTaper group, when the middle level displayed the most removal, the coronal level showed much higher removal than the mid-root level, while the apical level often exhibited the highest removal. Conclusion: ProTaper retreatment files outperformed MTwo, D-RaCe, and R-Endo among the four groups in terms of removing root canal filling material. However, none of the experimental groups removed gutta-percha completely from root canals.

Abstract:Background/purpose Establishing effective irrigation methods is warranted to ensure the predictability of minimally invasive root canal instrumentation. This study aimed to compare the smear layer removal efficacy of different irrigation techniques in root canals instrumented with TruNatomy nickel-titanium rotary instruments. Materials and methods Experiment 1: Extracted human mandibular incisors were instrumented using TruNatomy Shaping Files up to Small (#20/0.04), Prime (#26/0.04), or Medium (#36/0.03) (n = 17, each) and irrigated with EDTA, NaOCl, and again with EDTA using syringe irrigation (SI). Experiment 2: Extracted mandibular incisors were instrumented using TruNatomy Small and irrigated with EDTA and NaOCl as in Experiment 1, using (1) conventional laser-activated irrigation (LAI) with an erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser unit at 30 mJ/10 Hz (LAI 30/10) or 70 mJ/20 Hz (LAI 70/20), (2) photon-induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) (20 mJ/15 Hz), (3) ultrasonic-activated irrigation, or (4) SI (n = 13 each). Five additional canals served as negative controls (no irrigation). The smear layer on the canal wall was scored under scanning electron microscopy. Results In Experiment 1, the TruNatomy Small group exhibited significantly higher smear layer scores compared to the other groups in the apical and middle thirds. In Experiment 2, the LAI 70/20 and PIPS groups demonstrated significantly lower smear layer scores compared to the LAI 30/10 and SI groups in the apical third. Conclusion Conservative instrumentation using the TruNatomy Small reduced the cleaning efficacy of irrigation. However, PIPS performed satisfactory for smear layer removal without injury to the root canal wall.

Comparison of Dentinal Defects Induced by Rotary, Reciprocating, and Hand Files in Oval Shaped Root Canal - An In-Vitro Study

Abstract:Aim: To evaluate and compare the formation of dentinal defects using hand Hedstrom files, XP-Shaper, TruNatomy, and Reciproc Blue file systems when used for oval shaped root canals. Materials and methods: One hundred and five extracted human mandibular premolars with single root and oval canals were selected for the study. Twenty-one teeth were unprepared (control), and the remaining teeth were divided into the prepared groups (n = 21), that is, Group H-Files, Group XP-Shaper, Group TruNatomy, and Group Reciproc Blue. All selected teeth were de-coronated perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth by using a diamond-coated disk with water cooling, leaving root segments approximately 16 mm in length. Each group was prepared according to the above file system. Then all roots were sectioned perpendicular to their long axes at 3, 6, and 9 mm from the apex using a diamond-coated disk under a continuous water stream. Each specimen was then checked for the presence of dentinal defects/microcracks. Result: The XP-Endo shaper group had the lowest number of defects (01/21 roots) 4.7%; TN (04/21) 19%, H-Files (04/21) 19%, and RC Blue (05/21) 23.8% had the highest incidence of defects. However, no significant difference was detected among these groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The motor-driven root canal instrumentation with rotary and reciprocating files and hand files may create microcracks in the radicular dentine, whereas the XP-Shaper file system produces minimal or less cracks compared to other tested rotary file systems and H-file instrumentation.
Comparative Evaluation of the Efficacy of ProTaper & Mtwo Rotary Retreatment System and Conventional Hand H-files for Removal of Gutta-percha from Root Canal - A Stereomicroscopic Study

Abstract:Background: Root canal retreatment aims to eliminate or substantially reduce the microbial load from the root canal and removal of previous root filling materials is the primary goal of nonsurgical retreatment. Aim: To comparatively evaluate the effectiveness of ProTaper retreatment files, Mtwo retreatment files, and Hedstrom files along with Gates Glidden (GG) Drill by using a stereomicroscope for the detection of remaining gutta-percha after root canal retreatment using a stereomicroscope. Materials and methods: Forty-five test samples were divided into three experimental groups (15 samples each), such as Group A-ProTaper retreatment files; Group B-Mtwo retreatment files; Group C-Hedstrom files along with Gates Glidden Drill. After routine endodontic treatment in the test samples, gutta-percha was removed from the test samples as per the division of different retreatment file systems. Further, test samples were divided longitudinally and were evaluated under the stereomicroscope. Stereomicroscopic images were captured and analysed under Image Analyser Software-Image J. Statistical analysis: One-way ANOVA test was used for comparison of gutta-percha removal between the groups and Tukey's post hoc test was used for pairwise comparisons. Results: The least remaining filling material was seen in specimens retreated with the ProTaper universal system. The highest remaining filling material was seen in specimens retreated with Hedstrom file with Gates Glidden Drill. Conclusion: All experimental test techniques left gutta-percha remnants within the root canal. ProTaper universal rotary retreatment system proved to be an efficient method of removing gutta-percha and left relatively less volume in comparison with other test systems.
An in vitro comparative evaluation of dentinal crack formation caused by three different nickel-titanium rotary file systems in primary anterior teeth

Abstract:Context: Cleaning and shaping of the canals damages the root dentin which becomes a gateway to dentinal cracks and thereby causes failure of the treatment. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess and compare dentinal crack formation caused by three different nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary file systems in primary anterior teeth. Settings and design: The present in vitro study is an experimental, comparative study. Materials and methods: One hundred fifty extracted primary anterior teeth were included in this study. The teeth were randomly divided into five groups. Group 1: Pedoflex rotary file system, Group 2: Prime Pedo™ rotary file system, Group 3: Kedo-S2 rotary file system, Group 4: K-files, and Group 5: no instrumentation. Roots were sectioned and viewed under a stereomicroscope for the presence of any cracks. Statistical analysis used: The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: In the coronal, middle, and apical thirds, Group 2 showed a maximum number of crack formations in the middle third (57%), followed by Group 3 (43.3%) and Group 1 (36.7%). Groups 4 and 5 showed no crack formation in all the root sections. The middle third showed a maximum number of crack formations compared to the coronal and apical thirds. Conclusions: Rotary systems render various benefits with an acceptable success in comparison to conventional hand instrumentation. Within the limitation of this study, it was found that Pedoflex rotary file system was the best with the least number of crack formations.

Abstract:Background The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of frequently used chemical agents in terms of their capacity to eliminate the smear layer after instrumentation, as observed via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Materials and methods Sixty extracted single-rooted mandibular premolar teeth, each with roots 15 mm in length, were used in this study. The teeth were divided into one control group and four study groups, each containing 12 teeth. In Control Group 0, teeth were irrigated with 3 ml of saline only. In Group 1, teeth were irrigated initially with 3% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and then given a final rinse with 3 ml of 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) for one minute. In Group 2, teeth were irrigated with 3% NaOCl and given a final rinse with 3 ml of a mixture of tetracycline, acid, and detergent (MTAD, BIOPURE) for one minute. In Group 3, teeth were irrigated with saline and given a final rinse with 3 ml of 17% EDTA for one minute. In Group 4, teeth were irrigated with saline and given a final rinse with 3 ml of MTAD for one minute. One-half of each tooth was chosen and prepared for scanning electron microscopic (SEM) examination at the cervical, middle, and apical thirds. These were observed at magnifications of up to 1,000 times to check for the presence or absence of a smear layer. The data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and post-hoc Dunn's test. Results All of the root canal irrigation protocols exhibited superior efficacy compared to the control group in the elimination of the smear layer. Group 2 (3% NaOCl with MTAD) showed the lowest mean scores, compared to all the groups, followed by Group 1 (3% NaOCl with 17% EDTA). MTAD was more effective than EDTA. The smear layer was effectively removed from the apical third, followed by the middle and coronal thirds of the root. Conclusion Initial irrigation with 3% NaOCl and one-minute final irrigation with 3 ml MTAD was the most effective root irrigant, and particularly indicated in teeth with infection of the apical third.
Comparative evaluation of remaining dentin thickness using single file, two file, and multiple rotary file system - An in vitro CBCT study

Abstract:Context: Endodontic success hinges on a multifactorial interplay, with meticulous canal shaping, proper disinfection, and three-dimensional obturation being paramount. Among these factors, the amount of dentin remaining after instrumentation directly influences the biomechanical resilience and longevity of the tooth. Aims: This study aims to evaluate the impact of various rotary instrumentation systems, including single-file, two-file, and multiple-file configurations, on the remaining dentin thickness (RDT) following canal preparation. Settings and design: This was an in vitro study, original research article. Materials and methods: Sixty mandibular premolar human extracted teeth were decoronated at the cementoenamel junction with a diamond disc. Samples were randomly assigned to three groups using a simple random sampling technique (n = 60). Group I - Single-file system (One Curve, MicroMega) (n = 20), Group II - Two-file systems (2Shape, MicroMega) (n = 20), and Group III - Multiple-file system (Hero Gold, MicroMega) (n = 20). Preoperative cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were obtained after the sample was mounted on a modeling wax sheet. The biomechanical preparation of canals followed the manufacturer's protocols for every system. Postoperative CBCT scans were obtained. Pre- and postoperative scans were compared at standardized depths (4 mm, 7 mm, and 11 mm) within the canals (coronal, middle, and apical thirds), allowing for a comprehensive assessment of RDT throughout the canal. Statistical analysis and results: According to one-way ANOVA, the highest mean was seen in Group I, followed by Group II and Group III. Hence, a statistically significant difference was found between all the groups. Post hoc Tukey's test was done for intergroup comparison. Conclusions: A single-file system preserved more dentin with less aggressive cutting compared to two-file and multiple-file systems.

Abstract:Background Access cavity preparation is a crucial step in nonsurgical root canal treatment. Recent advancements in access cavity designs focus on preserving maximum tooth structure while ensuring sufficient access to canal orifices for effective cleaning and shaping, resulting in minimally invasive procedures. However, there is limited information on the impact of three-dimensional (3D)-guided access cavity preparation in molars. A literature review found no prior studies comparing the effects of various access cavity preparation techniques on apical transportation, untouched surfaces, and debris formation within the canal. Objective The objective of this study is to compare and evaluate the effects of three different access cavity techniques on apical transportation, untouched surfaces, and debris formation within the root canal. Material and methods Thirty extracted permanent mandibular first molars were selected and randomly assigned to three groups for this study: Group I received 3D-printed static guided cavity preparation, Group II underwent conservative access cavity preparation, and Group III was subjected to traditional access cavity (TAC) preparation. The mesial canals in all samples were cleaned and shaped using TruNatomy files. Preoperative and postoperative micro-CT imaging was performed on each sample to assess the effects of the different access cavity preparation techniques on apical transportation, untouched surfaces, and debris formation within the root canal. Results The study found that Group I, which used 3D-printed static guided cavity preparation, exhibited significantly less apical transportation compared to Groups II and III, with mean differences of -0.1677 and -0.2079, respectively. Debris accumulation was similar across all groups, with mean values of 0.928 ± 0.824 for Group I, 0.751 ± 0.495 for Group II, and 0.938 ± 0.681 for Group III, indicating no significant impact of cavity preparation type on debris levels. For untouched canal surfaces, Group III (TAC preparation) had the fewest untouched surfaces, with mean differences of 3.0380 and 3.9020 compared to Groups II and I, respectively. Conclusions While TAC preparation reduces substantial tooth structure, it shows higher instrumentation efficacy and better cleaning of the root canal system. However, in complex cases where tooth structure preservation is crucial, guided access cavity preparation provides an effective balance between structural conservation and adequate canal access. This approach offers a tailored solution, optimizing treatment outcomes based on the specific clinical scenario.
Impact of New Vaccine Introduction on Developing Country Immunization Programs and Health Systems

Abstract:s, and WHO regional office databases. In addition, internet searches of agencies working on immunization and vaccine introduction were searched. From the hundreds of documents examined, the USAID/MCHIP team selected 61 that contained information on the impact of new vaccine introduction (NUVI) on immunization programs and, in a few cases, the broader health system. Most of the documents were Post-Introduction Evaluations (PIEs), PIE summaries, meeting reports and presentations, and consultant reports. Most dealt with one NUVI but a few covered multiple country experiences (one summarized 16 PIEs, another seven). Country experiences reviewed were mostly from low-income African countries and concerned introductions of HepB and Hib, although there were several cases from middle-income countries, other continents, and rotavirus, pneumococcal vaccines, and human papillovirus vaccines (RV, PCV, and HPV). To summarize relevant information, MCHIP used a format based on the WHO health systems components, with separate columns for impact on the EPI and health system. Limitations: ►Most documents about EPI, but not about NUVI specifically, failed to mention the effects of NUVI on the EPI or health system; most documents on NUVI focused on the preparation and introduction, or the EPI status shortly after the introduction. ►PIEs and other NUVI assessments report on a particular point in time, which may fail to capture the changing effects of NUVI over time. ►In many cases only PIE summaries from WHO were available rather than full documents, and they sometimes contained contradictory or incomplete information. ►It was difficult to separate the effects of NUVI from the effects of donor funding that often accompanied NUVI. ►Because introductions of PCV, RV, and HPV into developing countries began only a few years ago, there was limited information on their impact, so the review may not

Abstract:Aim: This study aimed to assess and compare debris quality expelled beyond the apex during re-treatment using two reciprocating and two re-treatment rotary files. Materials and methods: A total of 80 healthy human mandibular premolars excised for orthodontic therapy were selected. Distilled water was used to sterilize the teeth before they were preserved. The canals were widened and coronal access was created so that the F2 ProTaper universal system could be used. For the obturation, we utilized gutta-percha cones and AH plus sealant. All samples were cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) recorded. Teeth were separated into four groups (n=20); Group 1: ProTaper re-treatment, Group 2: Mtwo re-treatment, Group 3: WaveOne gold, and Group 4: Reciproc. The re-instrumented process included collecting the extruded debris in Eppendorf tubes and then drying it off by evaporating the distilled water. The weight of the tube with debris was subtracted from the weight of the tube without debris to get the dry debris weight. Post-retreatment CBCT was recorded for all samples. Mean apical debris extrusion values were obtained, after which necessary statistical analysis was obtained using SPSS Statistics, version 21 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) to obtain the results. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the student t-test were utilized for statistical analysis to compare the different experimental groups. Post-hoc Bonferroni tests were used to compare several groups. Result: No statistical difference (p>0.05) was identified in the filler material that was left over across all groups. The reciprocating files discharged more material compared with re-treatment file systems. Conclusion: The Reciproc files expelled more waste than WaveOne gold, ProTaper re-treatment, and Mtwo re-treatment file systems. Reciprocating file systems showed better cleaning efficiency compared to the re-treatment file systems.
