Abstract:We show that the augmented base locus coincides with the exceptional locus (i.e. null locus) for any nef $\mathbb{R}$-Cartier divisor on any scheme projective over a field (of any characteristic). Next we prove a semi-ampleness criterion in terms of the augmented base locus generalizing a result of Keel. We also study nef divisors with positive top intersection number, and discuss some problems related to augmented base loci of log divisors.

Abstract:Let $(X,\Delta)$ be a projective, $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial log canonical pair and let $L$ be a pseudoeffective $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor on $X$ such that $K_X + \Delta + L$ is pseudoeffective. Is there an effective $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor $M$ on $X$ such that $K_X + \Delta + L$ is numerically equivalent to $M$? We are not aware of any counterexamples, but the answer is not completely clear even in the case of surfaces.

Abstract:We provide a characterization of asymptotical speciality of a nef and big divisor $D$ on an algebraic surface in terms of the arithmetic genus of curves in $D^{\perp}$. As a consequence we prove that the SHGH conjecture for linear systems on the blowing-up $X_r^2$ of the projective plane at points in very general position is equivalent to the fact that each nef class of is non-special. Finally we prove that if $r < 2^n$ then any nef divisor of $X_r^n$ is asymptotically non-special.

Abstract:The non-isomorphic locus of a general projection from an embedded smooth projective variety to a hypersurface moves in a linear system of an effective divisor which we call the double point divisor. David Mumford proved that the double point divisor from outer projection is always base point free, and Bo Ilic proved that it is ample except for a Roth variety. The first aim of this paper is to show that the double point divisor from outer projection is very ample except in the Roth case. This answers a question of Bo Ilic. Unlike the case of outer projection, the double point divisor from inner projection may not be base point free nor ample. However, Atsushi Noma proved that it is semiample except when a variety is neither a Roth variety, a scroll over a curve, nor the second Veronese surface. In this paper, we investigate when the double point divisor from inner projection is base point free or big.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the divisor theory of the Simpson moduli space of semistable sheaves of dimension 1 on the projective plane. We prove that these spaces are all Mori dream spaces, and calculate their nef cones. We also study the effective cones of these spaces for most choices of numerical invariants. As a consequence, we work out precisely when two such spaces are isomorphic.

Abstract:It is expected that a totally invariant divisor of a non-isomorphic endomorphism of the complex projective space is a union of hyperplanes. In this paper we study divisorial extremal neighborhoods f:Y-->X, such that X is a cAn type three dimensional terminal singularity, and C=f(E) is a smooth curve, where E is the f-exceptional divisor. We view a divisorial extremal neighborhood as a one-parameter smoothing of certain surface singularities, and based on this we give a classification of such neighborhoods.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate non-rationality of divisors on 3-fold log Fano fibrations (X, B) -> Z under mild conditions. We show that if D is a component of B with coefficient >= t > 0 which is contracted to a point on Z, then D is birational to P-1 x C, where C is a smooth projective curve with gonality bounded depending only on t. Moreover, if t > 1/2, then genus of C is bounded depending only on t.

Abstract:Given an anticanonical divisor in a projective variety, one naturally obtains a monotone Kähler manifold. In this paper, for divisors in a certain class (larger than normal crossings), we construct smoothing families of contact hypersurfaces with controlled Reeb dynamics. We use these to obtain subsets of the divisor complement which are superheavy. In particular, we will show that several examples of Lagrangian skeleta of such divisor complements are superheavy, in cases where applying Lagrangian Floer theory may be intractable.
