Abstract:In this paper, we present explicit expressions for the Moore-Penrose inverse of the perturbation matrix under the rank condition in the real field. Then we estimate the error between Moore-Penrose inverse and dual Moore-Penrose generalized inverse (DMPGI) and obtain an upper bound of the error. Furthermore, we discuss the above results under several special conditions.

Abstract:The theory of generalized inverses of matrices and operators is closely connected with projections, i.e., idempotent (bounded) linear transformations. We show that a similar situation occurs in any associative ring $\mathcal{R}$ with a unit $1 \neq 0$. We prove that generalized inverses in $\mathcal{R}$ are related to idempotent group endomorphisms $\rho: \mathcal{R} \rightarrow \mathcal{R}$, called projectors. We use these relations to give characterizations and existence conditions for $\{1\}$, $\{2\}$, and $\{1,2\}$ inverses with any given principal/annihilator ideals. As a consequence, we obtain sufficient conditions for any right/left ideal of $\mathcal{R}$ to be a principal or an annihilator ideal of an idempotent element of $\mathcal{R}$. We then study some particular generalized inverses: Drazin and $(b,c)$ inverses, and in rings with involution, $(e,f)$ Moore-Penrose, $e$-core, $f$-dual core, $w$-core, $v$-dual core, right $w$-core, left $v$-dual core, and $(p,q)$ inverses.

Abstract:For a generalized Drazin invertible operator A and its core–EP inverse A◯d , the expression AA◯dA plays important role in the representations of well-known generalized inverses, in theory of partial orders and for decompositions of operator A . Solving certain system of operator equations leads to introduction of new generalized inverse of AA◯dA . Since this new inverse can be expressed by the generalized Moore–Penrose inverse and generalized Drazin inverse of A , it is called a generalized MPD inverse of AA◯dA . As a dual version of generalized MPD inverse, we also consider a generalized DMP inverse. The dual core inverse and core inverse of A , respectively, are special cases of the generalized MPD inverse and generalized DMP inverse. Several properties, representations and characterizations of generalized MPD and DMP inverses are established. Applying the generalized MPD and DMP inverses, we solve corresponding systems of linear equations and minimization problems. One well-known minimization problem is a particular case of our results.

Abstract:In this work we investigate special aspects of positivity preservers and especially diagonal positivity preservers, i.e., linear maps $T:\mathbb{R}[x_1,\dots,x_n]\to\mathbb{R}[x_1,\dots,x_n]$ such that $Tx^\alpha = t_\alpha x^\alpha$ holds for all $\alpha\in\mathbb{N}_0^n$ with $t_\alpha\in\mathbb{R}$ and $Tp\geq 0$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$ for all $p\in\mathbb{R}[x_1,\dots,x_n]$ with $p\geq 0$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$. We discuss representations of $T$, give characterizations of diagonal positivity preservers, and compare these to previous (partial) results in the literature. On the side we get a full characterization of linear maps preserving moment sequences and a new proof of Schur's product formula. The tool of diagonal positivity preservers simplifies several other existing proofs in the literature. We give a full characterization of generators $A$ of diagonal positivity preservers, i.e., $e^{tA}$ is a diagonal positivity preserver for all $t\geq 0$. We give the connection of these generators to infinitely divisible moment sequences.

Abstract:The generalized inverse A T,S (2) of a matrix A is a {2}-inverse of A with the prescribed range T and null space S. A representation for the generalized inverse A T,S (2) has been recently developed with the condition σ (GA| T)⊂(0,∞), where G is a matrix with R(G)=T andN(G)=S. In this note, we remove the above condition. Three types of iterative methods for A T,S (2) are presented if σ(GA|T) is a subset of the open right half-plane and they are extensions of existing computational procedures of A T,S (2), including special cases such as the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse A M,N † and the Drazin inverse AD. Numerical examples are given to illustrate our results.

Abstract:Moore–Penrose inverse emerges in statistics, neural networks, machine learning, applied physics, numerical analysis, tensor computations, solving systems of linear equations and in many other disciplines. Especially after the 2000s, the topic of Moore–Penrose inverse has started to attract great attention by researchers and has become a popular subject. In this paper, we investigate the Moore–Penrose inverse of the conditional matrices via convolution product formula. In order to use convolution formula effectively, we derive some useful identities by using some properties of the generalized conditional sequence. Moreover, we express the Moore–Penrose inverse of the conditional matrices in the form of block matrices. Finally, we not only present more general results compared to earlier works, but also provide many novel results using analytical techniques.

Abstract:This is the first paper of a two-long series in which we study linear generalized inverses that minimize matrix norms. Such generalized inverses are famously represented by the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse (MPP) which happens to minimize the Frobenius norm. Freeing up the degrees of freedom associated with Frobenius optimality enables us to promote other interesting properties. In this Part I, we look at the basic properties of norm-minimizing generalized inverses, especially in terms of uniqueness and relation to the MPP. We first show that the MPP minimizes many norms beyond those unitarily invariant, thus further bolstering its role as a robust choice in many situations. We then concentrate on some norms which are generally not minimized by the MPP, but whose minimization is relevant for linear inverse problems and sparse representations. In particular, we look at mixed norms and the induced $\ell^p \rightarrow \ell^q$ norms. An interesting representative is the sparse pseudoinverse which we study in much more detail in Part II. Next, we shift attention from norms to matrices with interesting behaviors. We exhibit a class whose generalized inverse is always the MPP-even for norms that normally result in different inverses-and a class for which many generalized inverses coincide, but not with the MPP. Finally, we discuss efficient computation of norm-minimizing generalized inverses.

The most general case was the combination of the MP inverse with outer inverses A(R(B),N(C))((2)) , knownas thecomposite outer inverses. Abstract:In this paper, we first prove that the absorption law for one-sided inverses along an element holds, deriving the absorption law for the inverse along an element. We then apply this result to obtain the absorption law for the inverse along different elements. Also, the reverse order law and the existence criterion for the inverse along an element are given by centralizers in a ring. Finally, we characterize the Moore-Penrose inverse by one-sided invertibilities in a ring with involution.
