Abstract:Andrews and Merca [J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 203 (2024), Art. 105849] recently obtained two interesting results on the sum of the parts with the same parity in the partitions of $n$ (the modulo $2$ case), the proof of which relies on generating functions. Motivated by Andrews and Merca's results, we define six statistics related to the partitions of $n$ and show that the two triples of the six statistics are equidistributed. From this equidistributed result, we derive modulo $m$ extensions of Andrews and Merca's results for all integers $m\ge 2$. The proof of the main result is based on a general bijection on the set of partitions of $n$.

Abstract:We outline a proof of a remarkable conjecture of Labastida-Mari{\~n}o-Ooguri-Vafa about certain new algebraic structures of quantum link invariants and the integrality of infinite family of new topological invariants. Our method is based on the cut-and-join analysis and a special rational ring characterizing the structure of the Chern-Simons partition function.

Abstract:For a positive integer $r$, George Andrews proved that the set of partitions of $n$ in which odd multiplicities are at least $2r + 1$ is equinumerous with the set of partitions of $n$ in which odd parts are congruent to $2r + 1$ modulo $4r + 2$. This was given as an extension of MacMahon's theorem ($r = 1$). Andrews, Ericksson, Petrov and Romik gave a bijective proof of MacMahon's theorem. Despite several bijections being given, until recently, none of them was in the spirit of Andrews-Ericksson-Petrov-Romik bijection. Andrews' theorem has also been extended recently. Our goal is to give a generalized bijective mapping of this further extension in the spirit of Andrews-Ericksson-Petrov-Romik bijection.

Abstract:Recently, Andrews and El Bachraoui (2024) proved three very interesting $q$-series identities, from which three simple looking identities involving certain restricted partitions into distinct even parts and $4$-regular partitions follow. In this short note, we give combinatorial proofs of these identities. We also prove the counterpart identities for the restricted partitions into distinct odd parts.

Abstract:The Alder-Andrews Theorem, a partition inequality generalizing Euler's partition identity, the first Rogers-Ramanujan identity, and a theorem of Schur to $d$-distinct partitions of $n$, was proved successively by Andrews in 1971, Yee in 2008, and Alfes, Jameson, and Lemke Oliver in 2010. While Andrews and Yee utilized $q$-series and combinatorial methods, Alfes et al. proved the finite number of remaining cases using asymptotics originating with Meinardus together with high-performance computing. In 2020, Kang and Park conjectured a "level $2$" Alder-Andrews type partition inequality which relates to the second Rogers-Ramanujan identity. Duncan, Khunger, the second author, and Tamura proved Kang and Park's conjecture for all but finitely many cases using a combinatorial shift identity. Here, we generalize the methods of Alfes et al. to resolve nearly all of the remaining cases of Kang and Park's conjecture.

Abstract:We provide combinatorial tools inspired by work of Warnaar to give combinatorial interpretations of the sum sides of the Andrews-Gordon and Bressoud identities. More precisely, we give an explicit weight- and length-preserving bijection between sets related to integer partitions, which provides these interpretations. In passing, we discover the $q$-series version of an identity of Kurşungöz, similar to the Bressoud identity but with opposite parity conditions, which we prove combinatorially using the classical Bressoud identity and our bijection. We also use this bijection to prove combinatorially many identities, some known and other new, of the Andrews-Gordon and Bressoud type.

Abstract:In 2022, Broudy and Lovejoy extensively studied the function $S(n)$ which counts the number of overpartitions of \emph{Schur-type}. In particular, they proved a number of congruences satisfied by $S(n)$ modulo $2$, $4$, and $5$. In this work, we extend their list of arithmetic properties satisfied by $S(n)$ by focusing on moduli which are small powers of 2. In particular, we prove the following infinite family of Ramanujan-like congruences: For all $\alpha\geq 0$ and $n\geq 0$, $$ S\left(2^{5+2\alpha}n+\left(2^{5+2\alpha}-\frac{2^{2+2\alpha}-1}{3}\right)\right)\equiv 0 \pmod{16}. $$ All of the proof techniques used herein are elementary, relying on classical $q$-series identities and generating function manipulations as well as the parameterization work popularized by Alaca, Alaca, and Williams.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct the so-called q-Schur modules as left principle ideals of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras, and prove that they are isomorphic to those cell modules defined in [3] and [10] in any level r. After that, mainly, we prove that these q-Schur modules are free and construct their basis. This result gives the new versions of some several known results such as standard basis and the branching theorem. With the help of this realizations and the new basis, we give a new proof of the Branch rule of Weyl modules which was first discovered by Wada in [20].
Bilateral Bailey lattices and Andrews-Gordon type identities

Abstract:We show that the Bailey lattice can be extended to a bilateral version in just a few lines from the bilateral Bailey lemma, using a very simple lemma transforming bilateral Bailey pairs related to $a$ into bilateral Bailey pairs related to $a/q$. Using this lemma and similar ones, we give bilateral versions and simple proofs of other (new and known) Bailey lattices, among which a Bailey lattice of Warnaar and the inverses of Bailey lattices of Lovejoy. As consequences of our bilateral point of view, we derive new $m$-versions of the Andrews-Gordon identities, Bressoud's identities, a new companion to Bressoud's identities, and the Bressoud-Göllnitz-Gordon identities. Finally, we give a new elementary proof of another very general identity of Bressoud using one of our Bailey lattices.

Abstract:Revisiting Kraśkiewicz and Pragacz's construction of Schubert modules, we provide a new proof that their characters are equal to Schubert polynomials. The main innovation is a representation-theoretic interpretation of a recurrence relation for Schubert polynomials recently discovered by Nadeau, Spink, and Tewari. Along the way, we review several related constructions, and show that the Nadeau-Spink-Tewari recursion determines the characters of flagged Schur modules coming from a broader class of translucent diagrams.

Abstract:Let $n \neq 8$ be a positive integer such that $n+1 \neq 2^u$ for any integer $u\geq 2$. Let $\phi(x)$ belonging to $\mathbb{Z}[x]$ be a monic polynomial which is irreducible modulo all primes less than or equal to $n+1$. Let $a_j(x)$ with $0\leq j\leq n-1$ belonging to $\mathbb{Z}[x]$ be polynomials having degree less than $°\phi(x)$. Assume that the content of $(a_na_0(x))$ is not divisible by any prime less than or equal to $n+1$. In this paper, we prove that the polynomial $f(x) = a_n\frac{\phi(x)^n}{(n+1)!}+ \sum\limits_{j=0}^{n-1}a_j(x)\frac{\phi(x)^{j}}{(j+1)!}$ is irreducible over the field $\mathbb{Q}$ of rational numbers. This generalises a well-known result of Schur which states that the polynomial $\sum\limits_{j=0}^{n}a_j\frac{x^{j}}{(j+1)!}$ with $a_j \in \mathbb{Z}$ and $|a_0| = |a_n| = 1$ is irreducible over $\mathbb{Q}$. We illustrate our result through examples.
