Abstract:We outline a proof of a remarkable conjecture of Labastida-Mari{\~n}o-Ooguri-Vafa about certain new algebraic structures of quantum link invariants and the integrality of infinite family of new topological invariants. Our method is based on the cut-and-join analysis and a special rational ring characterizing the structure of the Chern-Simons partition function.

Abstract:We revisit a subexponential bound for the $abc$ conjecture due to the first author, and we establish a variation of it using linear forms in logarithms. As an application, we prove an unconditional subexponential bound towards the $4$-terms $abc$ conjecture under a suitable hypothesis on the size of the variables.

Abstract:For any fixed relatively prime positive integers $a,b$ and $c$ greater than 1, we consider the equation $a^x+b^y=c^z$ in positive integers $x,y$ and $z$. In this note, assuming the truth of $abc$-conjecture, for any fixed $c$ we prove that there is at most one solution to the equation, except for only finitely many pairs of $a$ and $b$. This answers a question in the paper of Miyazaki and Pink [T. Miyazaki and I. Pink, Number of solutions to a special type of unit equations in two unknowns, III, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2403.20037" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.20037">arXiv:2403.20037</a>].

Improved lower bounds for strong $n$-conjectures

Abstract:The well-known $abc$-conjecture concerns triples $(a,b,c)$ of non-zero integers that are coprime and satisfy ${a+b+c=0}$. The strong $n$-conjecture is a generalisation to $n$ summands where integer solutions of the equation ${a_1 + \ldots + a_n = 0}$ are considered such that the $a_i$ are pairwise coprime and satisfy a certain subsum condition. Ramaekers studied a variant of this conjecture with a slightly different set of conditions. He conjectured that in this setting the limit superior of the so-called qualities of the admissible solutions equals $1$ for any $n$. In this article, we follow results of Konyagin and Browkin. We restrict to a smaller, and thus more demanding, set of solutions, and improve the known lower bounds on the limit superior: for ${n \geq 6}$ we achieve a lower bound of $\frac54$; for odd $n \geq 5$ we even achieve $\frac53$. In particular, Ramaekers's conjecture is false for every ${n \ge 5}$.

Abstract:We prove that there exist infinitely many coprime numbers $a$, $b$, $c$ with $a+b=c$ and $c>\operatorname{rad}(abc)\exp(6.563\sqrt{\log c}/\log\log c)$. These are the most extremal examples currently known in the $abc$ conjecture, thereby providing a new lower bound on the tightest possible form of the conjecture. This builds on work of van Frankenhuysen (1999) who proved the existence of examples satisfying the above bound with the constant $6.068$ in place of $6.563$. We show that the constant $6.563$ may be replaced by $4\sqrt{2\delta/e}$ where $\delta$ is a constant such that all full-rank unimodular lattices of sufficiently large dimension $n$ contain a nonzero vector with $\ell_1$ norm at most $n/\delta$.

Abstract:Recently, Chan and Wang proved numerous congruences satisfied by $$p_{a/b}(n)$$, where $$p_{a/b}(n)$$ denotes the coefficient of $$q^n$$ in the series expansion of $$(q;q)_\infty ^{\frac{a}{b}}$$. Moreover, they presented many conjectures on the congruences for $$p_{a/b}(n)$$. In this paper, we not only prove some conjectures of Chan and Wang, but also discover new congruences for $$p_{a/b}(n)$$ in light of Ramanujan’s modular equations of fifth, seventh and thirteenth orders.

Abstract:Many results in harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory ensure the existence of geometric configurations under the largeness of sets, which are sometimes specified via the ball condition and Fourier decay. Recently, Kuca, Opronon, Sahlsten, and Bruce, Pramanik proved a Sarkozy-like theorem, which removes the Fourier decay condition and shows that sets with large Hausdorff dimensions contain two-point patterns. This paper explores the existence of a three-point configuration that relies solely on the Hausdorff dimension.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop Terence Tao's harmonic analysis method and apply it to restricted sumsets. The well-known Cauchy–Davenport theorem asserts that if ∅≠A, B⊆Z/pZ with p a prime, then |A+B|⩾min{p,|A|+|B|−1}, where A+B={a+b:a∈A,b∈B}. In 2005, Terence Tao gave a harmonic analysis proof of the Cauchy–Davenport theorem, by applying a new form of the uncertainty principle on Fourier transform. We modify Tao's method so that it can be used to prove the following extension of the Erdős–Heilbronn conjecture: If A,B,S are non-empty subsets of Z/pZ with p a prime, then |{a+b:a∈A,b∈B,a−b∉S}|⩾min{p,|A|+|B|−2|S|−1}.

Refined Absorption: A New Proof of the Existence Conjecture

Abstract:The study of combinatorial designs has a rich history spanning nearly two centuries. In a recent breakthrough, the notorious Existence Conjecture for Combinatorial Designs dating back to the 1800s was proved in full by Keevash via the method of randomized algebraic constructions. Subsequently Glock, K\"{u}hn, Lo, and Osthus provided an alternate purely combinatorial proof of the Existence Conjecture via the method of iterative absorption. We introduce a novel method of refined absorption for designs; here as our first application of the method we provide a new alternate proof of the Existence Conjecture (assuming the existence of $K_q^r$-absorbers by Glock, K\"{u}hn, Lo, and Osthus).

Abstract:We prove two results on converse theorems for Hilbert modular forms over totally real fields of degree $r>1$. The first result recovers a Hilbert modular form (of some level) from an $L$-series satisfying functional equations twisted by all the unramified Hecke characters. The second result assumes both the 'unramified' functional equations and an Euler product, and recovers a Hilbert modular form of the expected level predicted by the shape of the functional equations. Our result generalizes the current converse theorems for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ in the case of Hilbert modular forms in that we completely remove the assumptions on ramified twists.

Abstract:We prove a certain uniform version of the Shafarevich Conjecture. As a corollary, we prove the Rasmussen-Tamagawa Conjecture for a particular class of abelian varieties $A$ defined over a number $K$ of dimension $g$ having everywhere potential good reduction, in particular, for any finite place $v$ of $K$ the localization $A_v:=A\times_{\mathrm{Spec}(K)}\mathrm{Spec}(K_v)$ has either good reduction or {\it totally bad reduction} (connected component $\tilde{\mathcal{A}}_v^0$ of the special fibre $\tilde{\mathcal{A}}_v$ of the Néron model $\mathcal{A}_v$ at $v$ is an affine group scheme over the residue field $k_v$ at $v$) and has good reduction over a quadratic extension of $K_v$.

Abstract:We prove the global triangulation conjecture for families of refined p-adic representations under a mild condition. That is, for a refined family, the associated family of (phi, Gamma)-modules admits a global triangulation on a Zariski open and dense subspace of the base that contains all regular non-critical points. We also determine a large class of points which belongs to the locus of global triangulation. Furthermore, we prove that all the specializations of a refined family are trianguline. In the case of the Coleman-Mazur eigencurve, our results provide the key ingredient for showing its properness in a subsequent work.
