Abstract:In \cite{Kawasetsu:2018irs}, Kawasetsu proved that the simple W-algebra associated with a minimal nilpotent element $W_{k}(\mathfrak{g},f_\theta)$ is rational and $C_2$-cofinite for $\mathfrak{g}=D_4,E_6,E_7,E_8$ with non-admissible level $k=-h^\vee/6$. In this paper, we study ${W}_{k}(\mathfrak{g},f_\theta)$ algebra for $\mathfrak{g}=E_6,E_7,E_8$ with non-admissible level $k=-h^\vee/6+1$. We determine all irreducible (Ramond twisted) modules, compute their characters and find coset constructions and Hecke operator interpretations. These W-algebras are closely related to intermediate Lie algebras and intermediate vertex subalgebras.

Abstract:For any , we introduce a Whittaker category whose objects are -modules M such that acts locally nilpotently on M for all , and the subspace is finite dimensional. In this paper, we first give a tensor product decomposition of the localization of with respect to the Ore subset S generated by . We show that the associative algebra W is isomorphic to the type finite W -algebra W ( e ) defined by a minimal nilpotent element e in . Then using W -modules as a bridge, we show that each block with a generalized central character of is equivalent to the corresponding block of the cuspidal category , which is completely characterized by Grantcharov and Serganova. As a consequence, each regular integral block of and the category of finite dimensional modules over W ( e ) can be described by a well-studied quiver with certain quadratic relations.

Abstract:For any $\mathbf{a}=(a_1,\dots,a_n)\in \mathbb{C}^n$, we introduce a Whittaker category $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbf{a}}$ whose objects are $\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}$-modules $M$ such that $e_{0i}-a_i$ acts locally nilpotently on $M$ for all $i \in \{1,\dots,n\}$, and the subspace $\mathrm{wh}_{\mathbf{a}}(M)=\{v\in M \mid e_{0i} v=a_iv, \ i=1,\dots,n\}$ is finite dimensional. Abstract:We develop techniques to construct isomorphisms between simple affine W-algebras and affine vertex algebras at admissible levels. We then apply these techniques to obtain many new, and conjecturally all, admissible collapsing levels for affine W-algebras. In short, if a simple affine W-algebra at a given level is equal to its affine vertex subalgebra generated by the centraliser of an -triple associated with the underlying nilpotent orbit, then that level is said to be collapsing. Collapsing levels are important both in representation theory and in theoretical physics. Our approach relies on two fundamental invariants of vertex algebras. The first one is the associated variety, which, in the context of admissible level simple affine W-algebras, leads to the Poisson varieties known as nilpotent Slodowy slices. We exploit the singularities of these varieties to detect possible collapsing levels. The second invariant is the asymptotic datum. We prove a general result asserting that, under appropriate hypotheses, equality of asymptotic data implies isomorphism at the level of vertex algebras. Then we use this to give a sufficient criterion, of combinatorial nature, for an admissible level to be collapsing. Our methods also allow us to study isomorphisms between quotients of W-algebras and extensions of simple affine vertex algebras at admissible levels. Based on such examples, we are led to formulate a general conjecture: for any finite extension of vertex algebras, the induced morphism between associated Poisson varieties is dominant.

Abstract:We formulate and prove examples of a conjecture which describes the W-algebras in type A as successive quantum Hamiltonian reductions of affine vertex algebras associated with several hook-type nilpotent orbits. This implies that the affine coset subalgebras of hook-type W-algebras are building blocks of the W-algebras in type A. In the rational case, it turns out that the building blocks for the simple quotients are provided by the minimal series of the regular W-algebras. In contrast, they are provided by singlet-type extensions of W-algebras at collapsing levels which are irrational. In the latter case, several new sporadic isomorphisms between different W-algebras are established.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a simple Lie algebra: its dual space $\mathfrak{g}^*$ is a Poisson variety. It is well known that for each nilpotent element $f$ in $\mathfrak{g}$, it is possible to construct a new Poisson structure by Hamiltonian reduction which is isomorphic to some subvariety of $\mathfrak{g}^*$, the Slodowy slice $S_f$. Given two nilpotent elements $f_1$ and $f_2$ with some compatibility assumptions, we prove Hamiltonian reduction by stages: the slice $S_{f_2}$ is the Hamiltonian reduction of the slice $S_{f_1}$. We also state an analogous result in the setting of finite W-algebras, which are quantizations of Slodowy slices. These results were conjectured by Morgan in his PhD thesis. As corollary in type A, we prove that any hook-type W-algebra can be obtained as Hamiltonian reduction from any other hook-type one. As an application, we establish a generalization of the Skryabin equivalence. Finally, we make some conjectures in the context of affine W-algebras.

Minimally Extended Current Algebras of Toroidal Conformal Field Theories

Abstract:It is well-known that families of two-dimensional toroidal conformal field theories possess a dense subset of rational toroidal conformal field theories, which makes such families an interesting testing ground about rationality of conformal field theories in families in general. Rational toroidal conformal field theories possess an extended chiral and anti-chiral algebra known as W-algebras. Their partition functions decompose into a finite sum of products of holomorphic and anti-holomorphic characters of these W-algebras. Instead of considering these characters, we decompose the partition functions into products of characters of minimal extensions of $\widehat{\mathfrak{u}}(1)$ current algebras, which already appear for rational conformal field theories with target space $S^1$. We present an explicit construction that determines such decompositions. While these decompositions are not unique, they are universal in the sense that any rational toroidal conformal field theory with a target space torus of arbitrary dimension admits such decompositions. We illustrate these decompositions with a few representative examples of rational toroidal conformal field theories with two- and three-dimensional target space tori.

Abstract:We prove that any unitary highest weight module over a universal minimal quantum affine $W$-algebra at non-critical level descends to its simple quotient. We find the defining relations of the unitary simple minimal quantum affine $W$-algebras and the list of all their irreducible positive energy modules. We also classify all irreducible highest weight modules for the simple affine vertex algebras in the cases when the associated simple minimal $W$-algebra is unitary.

Abstract:We prove that the morphisms from a minimal Sullivan algebra $\Lambda V$ to $A_{PL}(|\Lambda V|)$, the algebra of polynomial differential forms on its realization, can be quasi-isomorphic if and only if the cohomology $H(\Lambda V)$ is of finite type. Importantly, $\Lambda V$ itself need not be of finite type. For example, it can be the minimal Sullivan model of the wedge sum of a circle and a sphere. This provides a negative answer to a question posed by Félix, Halperin, and Thomas. Furthermore, we study the spaces whose homotopy groups are reflected by their minimal Sullivan models as a generalization of Sullivan spaces, and explore which properties of Sullivan spaces can be broadened.

Abstract:The problem of determining maximal ideals in universal affine vertex algebras is difficult for levels beyond admissible, since there are no simple character formulas which can be applied. Here we investigate when certain quotient $\mathcal V$ of universal affine vertex algebra $V^k(\mathfrak{g})$ is simple. We present a new method for proving simplicity of quotients of universal affine vertex algebras in the case of affine vertex algebra $L_{k_n}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2n})$ at level $k_n:=-\frac{2n+1}{2}$. In that way we describe the maximal ideal in $V^{k_n}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2n})$. For that purpose, we use the representation theory of minimal affine $W$-algebra $W^{min}_{k_{n+1}}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2n+2})$ developed in [2]. In particular, we use the embedding $L_{k_n}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2n}) \subset W^{min}_{k_{n+1}}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2n+2})$ and fusion rules for $L_{k_n}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2n})$--modules. We apply this result in the cases $n=3,4$ and prove that a maximal ideal is generated by one singular vector of conformal weight $4$. As a byproduct, we classify irreducible modules in the category $\mathcal{O}$ for the simple affine vertex algebra $L_{-7/2}(\mathfrak{sl}_{6})$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the module-theoretic structure of classical Iwasawa modules. More precisely, for a finite abelian $p$-extension $K/k$ of totally real fields and the cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension $K_{\infty}/K$, we consider $X_{K_{\infty},S}={\rm Gal}(M_{K_{\infty},S}/K_{\infty})$ where $S$ is a finite set of places of $k$ containing all ramifying places in $K_{\infty}$ and archimedean places, and $M_{K_{\infty},S}$ is the maximal abelian pro-$p$-extension of $K_{\infty}$ unramified outside $S$. We give lower and upper bounds of the minimal numbers of generators and of relations of $X_{K_{\infty},S}$ as a $\mathbb{Z}_p[[{\rm Gal}(K_{\infty}/k)]]$-module, using the $p$-rank of ${\rm Gal}(K/k)$. This result explains the complexity of $X_{K_{\infty},S}$ as a $\mathbb{Z}_p[[{\rm Gal}(K_{\infty}/k)]]$-module when the $p$-rank of ${\rm Gal}(K/k)$ is large. Moreover, we prove an analogous theorem in the setting that $K/k$ is non-abelian. We also study the Iwasawa adjoint of $X_{K_{\infty},S}$, and the minus part of the unramified Iwasawa module for a CM-extension. In order to prove these theorems, we systematically study the minimal resolutions of $X_{K_{\infty},S}$.

Abstract:We develop a theory of Wilson's adelic Grassmannian ${\mathrm{Gr}}^{\mathrm{ad}}(R)$ and Segal-Wilson's rational Grasssmannian ${\mathrm{Gr}}^ {\mathrm{rat}}(R)$ associated to an arbitrary finite dimensional complex algebra $R$. We provide several equivalent descriptions of the former in terms of the indecomposable projective modules of $R$ and its primitive idempotents, and prove that it classifies the bispectral Darboux transformations of the $R$-valued exponential function. The rational Grasssmannian $ {\mathrm{Gr}}^{\mathrm{rat}}(R)$ is defined by using certain free submodules of $R(z)$ and it is proved that it can be alternatively defined via Wilson type conditions imposed in a representation theoretic settings. A canonical embedding ${\mathrm{Gr}}^{\mathrm{ad}}(R) \hookrightarrow {\mathrm{Gr}}^{\mathrm{rat}}(R)$ is constructed based on a perfect pairing between the $R$-bimodule of quasiexponentials with values in $R$ and the $R$-bimodule $R[z]$.

On modular invariance of quantum affine $W$-algebras

Abstract:We find modular transformations of normalized characters for the following $W$-algebras: (a) $W^{min}_k(\frak{g})$, where $\frak{g}=D_n \, (n \geq 4)$, or $E_6$, $E_7$, $E_8$, and $k$ is a negative integer $\geq -2$, or $\geq -\frac{h^{\vee}}{6}-1$, respectively; (b) quantum Hamiltonian reduction of the $\hat{\frak{g}}$-module $L(k\Lambda_0)$, where $\frak{g}$ is a simple Lie algebra, $f$ is its non-zero nilpotent element, and $k$ is a principal admissible level with the denominator $u > \theta(x)$, where $2x$ is the Dynkin characteristic of $f$ and $\theta$ is the highest root of $\frak{g}$. We prove that these vertex algebras are modular invariant. A conformal vertex algebra is called modular invariant if its character $tr_V q^{L_0-c/24}$ converges to a holomorphic modular function in the complex upper half-plane on a congruence subgroup. We find explicit formulas for their characters. Modular invariance of $V$ is important since, in particular, conjecturally it implies that $V$ is simple, and that $V$ is rational, provided that it is lisse.
