Abstract:In this paper, we present a new axiomatic system that is a minimal axiomatization of Boolean algebras. Furthermore, the symmetric difference is shown to be algebraically analogous to the modular difference of two numbers. Finally, a new method to prove equivalent relations in a Boolean algebra is also given.

Abstract:In this note we give an axiomatization of Boolean algebras based on weakly dicomplemented lattices: an algebra $(L,\wedge,\vee,\tu)$ of type $(2,2,1)$ is a Boolean algebra iff $(L,\wedge,\vee)$ is a non empty lattice and $(x\wedge y)\vee(x\wedge y\tu)=(x\vee y)\wedge(x\vee y\tu)$ for all $x,y\in L$. This provides a unique equation to encode distributivity and complementation on lattices.

Maximal Contractions in Boolean Algebras

Abstract:In the present paper, the concepts of deductive element and maximal contraction are introduced in Boolean algebras, and corresponding theories of consistency and maximal contractions are studied. An algorithm principle is proposed to compute all maximal contractions for a consistent set with respect to its refutation in Boolean algebras. It is pointed out that the quotient algebra of the first-order language with respect to its provable equivalence relation constitutes a Boolean algebra, and hence the computation of R-contractions for closed formulas in first-order languages can be converted into the one in Boolean algebras proposed in this paper. Furthermore, the concept of basic element is introduced in Boolean algebras, which contributes to the definitions of clause and Horn clause transplanted from logic to a special type of Boolean algebras generated by basic elements. It is also pointed out that the computation of R-contractions for clauses in the classical propositional logic can be converted into the one in Boolean algebras generated by basic elements proposed in this paper.

Abstract:Aim To discuss equivalent characterization of Boolean algebra and show the relation between Boolean algebra and logic system L and some other algebra systems.Methods Inference,proof,and examples are used to discuss the problem.Results Axioms of equivalent characterization is simplest and which is proved to be equivalent to the Boolean algebra.The relationships among Boolean algebra and some other algebra systems are also discussed.Conclusion This equivalent characterization offers a new way for us to investigate Boolean algebra from a new angle.

Abstract:The author has recently introduced an abstract algebraic framework of analogical proportions within the general setting of universal algebra. This paper studies analogical proportions in the boolean domain consisting of two elements 0 and 1 within his framework. It turns out that our notion of boolean proportions coincides with two prominent models from the literature in different settings. This means that we can capture two separate modellings of boolean proportions within a single framework which is mathematically appealing and provides further evidence for the robustness and applicability of the general framework.

Some simple theories from a Boolean algebra point of view

Abstract:We find a strong separation between two natural families of simple rank one theories in Keisler's order: the theories $T_\mathfrak{m}$ reflecting graph sequences, which witness that Keisler's order has the maximum number of classes, and the theories $T_{n,k}$, which are the higher-order analogues of the triangle-free random graph. The proof involves building Boolean algebras and ultrafilters "by hand" to satisfy certain model theoretically meaningful chain conditions. This may be seen as advancing a line of work going back through Kunen's construction of good ultrafilters in ZFC using families of independent functions. We conclude with a theorem on flexible ultrafilters, and open questions.

Abstract:Coherent synchrotron radiation (CSR) occurs when short bunches travel on strongly bent trajectories. Its effects on high-quality beams can be severe and are well understood qualitatively. For quantitative results, however, one has to rely on numerical methods. There exist several simulation codes utilizing different approaches. We describe in some detail the code TraFiC4 developed at DESY for design and analysis purposes, which approaches the problem from first principles and solves the equations of motion either perturbatively or self-consistently. We present some calculational results and comparison with experimental data. Also, we give examples of how the code can be used to design beamlines with minimal emittance growth due to CSR.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is the partial axiornatization for 0-level universal logic. Firstly, a propositional calculus formal deductive system ULh epsilon(0.1) of 0-level universal logic is built up, and the corresponding algebra L Pi G is introduced. Then we prove the system ULh epsilon(0,1) is sound and complete with respect to the 0-level continuous universal AND operators on [0, 1]. Lastly, three extension logics of ULh epsilon(0.1) are also introduced.

Abstract:We consider orthomodular posets endowed with a symmetric difference. We call them ODPs. Expressed in the quantum logic language, we consider quantum logics with an XOR-type connective. We study three classes of "almost Boolean" ODPs, two of them defined by requiring rather specific behaviour of infima and the third by a Boolean-like behaviour of Frink ideals. We establish a (rather surprising) inclusion between the three classes, shadding thus light on their intrinsic properties. (More details can be found in the Introduction that follows.) Let us only note that the orthomodular posets pursued here, though close to Boolean algebras (i.e., close to standard quantum logics), still have a potential for an arbitrarily high degree of non-compatibility and hence they may enrich the studies of mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics.

Abstract:This paper studies logical aspects of the notion of better quasi order, which has been introduced by C. Nash-Williams (Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society 1965 & 1968). A central tool in the theory of better quasi orders is the minimal bad array lemma. We show that this lemma is exceptionally strong from the viewpoint of reverse mathematics, a framework from mathematical logic. Specifically, it is equivalent to the set existence principle of $\Pi^1_2$-comprehension, over the base theory $\mathsf{ATR_0}$.

Abstract:In order to provide a unified framework for studying non-commutative algebraic logic, Rump and Yang used three axioms to define quantum B -algebras, which can be seen as implicational subreducts of quantales. Based on the work of Rump and Yang, in this paper we shall continue to investigate the properties of three axioms in quantum B -algebras. First, using two axioms we introduce the concept of generalized quantum B -algebras and prove that the opposite of the category GqBAlg of generalized quantum B -algebras is equivalent to the category LogPQ of logical pre-quantales, but we can not prove that pre-quantales can be used as the injective objects in GqBAlg . Next, we use one axiom to propose the concept of C -algebras and show that a C -algebra is a group if and only if each of its elements is dualizing. Further, by dualizing elements of a C -algebra X , we can define different binary operations on X such that X is a moniod. Finally, we by the Zig–Zag relation discuss some properties of quantum B -algebras.

Abstract:The logico-algebraic study of Lewis's hierarchy of variably strict conditional logics has been essentially unexplored, hindering our understanding of their mathematical foundations, and the connections with other logical systems. This work aims to fill this gap by providing a comprehensive logico-algebraic analysis of Lewis's logics. We begin by introducing novel finite axiomatizations for varying strengths of Lewis's logics, distinguishing between global and local consequence relations on Lewisian sphere models. We then demonstrate that the global consequence relation is strongly algebraizable in terms of a specific class of Boolean algebras with a binary operator representing the counterfactual implication; in contrast, we show that the local consequence relation is generally not algebraizable, although it can be characterized as the degree-preserving logic over the same algebraic models. Further, we delve into the algebraic semantics of Lewis's logics, developing two dual equivalences with respect to particular topological spaces. In more details, we show a duality with respect to the topological version of Lewis's sphere models, and also with respect to Stone spaces with a selection function; using the latter, we demonstrate the strong completeness of Lewis's logics with respect to sphere models. Finally, we draw some considerations concerning the limit assumption over sphere models.

Abstract:Formal concept analysis is an algebraic model based on a Galois connection. It is used for symbolic knowledge exploration from an elementary form of a formal context. This paper mainly presents a general framework for concept lattice in which axiomatic approaches are used. The relationship between concept lattice and dual concept lattice is first studied. Based on set-theoretic operators, generalized concept systems are established. And properties of them are examined. By using axiomatic approaches, a pair of dual concept lattices is characterized by different sets of axioms. The connections between 0-1 binary relations and generalized concept systems are examined. And generalized dual concept systems can be constructed by a pair of dual set-theoretic operators. Axiomatic characterizations of the generalized concept systems guarantee the existence of a binary relation producing a formal context.
A Cuntz--Krieger Uniqueness theorem for C*-algebras of relative generalized Boolean dynamical systems

Abstract:We prove a version of the Cuntz--Krieger Uniqueness Theorem for $C^*$-algebras of arbitrary relative generalized Boolean dynamical systems. We then describe properties of a $C^*$-algebra of a relative generalized Boolean dynamical system when the underlying Boolean dynamical system satisfies Condition (K). We also define a notion of minimality of a Boolean dynamical system and give sufficient and necessary conditions for the minimality. Using these results, we characterize the generalized Boolean dynamical systems who's $C^*$-algebra is simple.

Abstract:We address several questions of Donald Monk related to irredundance and spread of Boolean algebras, gaining both some ZFC knowledge and consistency results. We show in ZFC that irr(B_0 times B_1)= max(irr(B_0),irr(B_1)). We prove consistency of the statement ``there is a Boolean algebra B such that irr(B)<s(B otimes B)'' and we force a superatomic Boolean algebra B_* such that s(B_*)=inc(B_*)=kappa, irr(B_*)=Id(B_*)=kappa^+ and Sub(B_*)=2^(kappa^+). Next we force a superatomic algebra B_0 such that irr(B_0)<inc(B_0) and a superatomic algebra B_1 such that t(B_1)>Aut(B_1). Finally we show that consistently there is a Boolean algebra B of size lambda such that there is no free sequence in B of length lambda, there is an ultrafilter of tightness lambda (so t(B)=lambda) and lambda notin Depth_(Hs)(B).

Abstract:This paper introduces weak logical algebraic domains and a special class of quantum B-algebras, namely, cofinal quantum B-algebras. It proves that there is a dual equivalence between the category of cofinal quantum B-algebras and that of weak logical algebraic domains. In particular, the category of residuated posets is shown to be dual equivalent to that of logical algebraic domains. This correspondence generalizes the classical duality of posets and algebraic domains.

Abstract:Formal verification technology has been widely applied in the fields of mathematics and computer science. The formalization of fundamental mathematical theories is particularly essential. Axiomatic set theory is a foundational system of mathematics and has important applications in computer science. Most of the basic concepts and theories in computer science are described and demonstrated in terms of set theory. In this paper, we present a formal system of axiomatic set theory based on the Coq proof assistant. The axiomatic system used in the formal system refers to Morse-Kelley set theory which is a relatively complete and concise axiomatic set theory. In this formal system, we complete the formalization of the basic definitions of sets, functions, ordinal numbers, and cardinal numbers and prove the most commonly used theorems in Coq. Moreover, the non-negative integers are defined, and Peano's postulates are proved as theorems. According to the axiom of choice, we also present formal proofs of the Hausdorff maximal principle and Schröeder-Bernstein theorem. The whole formalization of the system includes eight axioms, one axiom schema, 62 definitions, and 148 corollaries or theorems. The “axiomatic set theory” formal system is free from the more apparent paradoxes, and a complete axiomatic system is constructed through it. It is designed to give a foundation for mathematics quickly and naturally. On the basis of the system, we can prove many famous mathematical theorems and quickly formalize the theories of topology, modern algebra, data structure, database, artificial intelligence, and so on. It will become an essential theoretical basis for mathematics, computer science, philosophy, and other disciplines.
