Abstract:This paper proves why the Stirling numbers show up in a experimentally determined formula for the $k$-bonaccis. We develop a bijection between a previously determined summation formula for $k$-bonaccis and an experimentally determined formula, proven algebraically.

Abstract:In this note, we present a simple summation formula for $k$-bonacci numbers. The derivation consists in obtaining the generating function of such numbers, and noting that its evaluation at a particular value yields a formula generalizing a known expression for Fibonacci numbers.

Abstract:Let k be a positive integer and p be a prime.We give some congruences involving the binomial coefficients((k+1)p-a)p-a),(kp-1p-a) with 1 ≤ a ≤ p-1 and （kp+p-1/2b±p-1/2±b),(kp-1p-1/2±b) with 0 ≤ b ≤ p-1/2.In particular,we get a generalization of Morley's congruence.Meanwhile,some congruences about the summation of ((k+1)p-ap-a) are obtained.

Abstract:For integer $k \geq 1$, let $S_k(n)$ denote the sum of the $k$th powers of the first $n$ positive integers $1^k + 2^k + \cdots + n^k$. In this paper, we derive a new formula expressing $2^{2k}$ times $S_{2k}(n)$ as a sum of $k$ terms involving the numbers in the $k$th row of the integer sequence A304330, which is closely related to the central factorial numbers of the second kind with even indices. Furthermore, we provide an alternative proof of Knuth's formula for $S_{2k}(n)$ and show that it can equally be expressed in terms of A304330. We also deduce the corresponding formulas for the odd-indexed power sums $S_{2k-1}(n)$. Finally, we determine the Faulhaber form of $S_{2k}(n)$ and $S_{2k+1}(n)$ in terms of the sequence A304330 and the Legendre-Stirling numbers of the first kind.

We also give a new extension of Glaisher's congruence byshowing that (p-1)p^[log_p m] is a period of the sequence ∑_j=r(modp-1)l jS(j,m)(l=m,m+1,...) modulo p.
C sequential optimization numbers

Abstract:This work establishes a definition that is more basic than the previous ones, for the Stirling numbers of first kind, which is a sufficient but not necessary condition for the previous definition. Based on this definition and a combinatorial problem, we discover C sequential optimization numbers, where C is a k+1-tuple vector. For C= (0,1), we prove that C sequential optimization numbers are the unsigned Stirling numbers of first kind. We can deduce the properties of C sequential optimization numbers by following the properties of the Stirling numbers of first kind and we give specific examples such as the recurrence formula and an instance of C sequential optimization numbers. We also give specific new properties such as an explicit upper bound of them. We prove the probability that the unsigned Stirling numbers of first kind are concentrated in O(logn) is nearly 100%.

Sums of powers of integers via differentiation

Abstract:For integer $k \geq 0$, let $S_k$ denote the sum of the $k$th powers of the first $n$ positive integers $1^k + 2^k + \cdots + n^k$. For any given $k$, the power sum $S_k$ can in principle be determined by differentiating $k$ times (with respect to $x$) the associated exponential generating function $\sum_{k=0}^{\infty}S_k x^k/k!$, and then taking the limit of the resulting differentiated function as $x$ approaches $0$. In this paper, we exploit this method to establish a couple of seemingly novel recurrence relations, one of them involving the even-indexed power sums $S_2, S_4,\ldots, S_{2k}$, and the other the odd-indexed power sums $S_{1}, S_3, \ldots, S_{2k-1}$, with both recurrence relations depending explicitly on the parameter $N = n + \frac{1}{2}$. From this, we obtain a determinantal formula of order $k$ which yields $S_{2k}$ [$S_{2k-1}$] in the Faulhaber form, that is, as an odd [even] polynomial in $N$. As a byproduct, we discover a new determinantal formula for the Bernoulli number $B_{2k}$. Furthermore, we show that $S_{2k}$ and $S_{2k-1}$ can be obtained by taking the corresponding higher order derivatives of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.

Abstract:Let ${\bf s} = (s_1, s_2, \ldots, s_n,\ldots)$ be a sequence of positive integers. An ${\bf s}$-inversion sequence of length $n$ is a sequence ${\bf e} = (e_1, e_2, \ldots, e_n)$ of nonnegative integers such that $0 \leq e_i < s_i$ for $1\leq i\leq n$. When $s_i=(i-1)k+1$ for any $i\geq 1$, we call the ${\bf s}$-inversion sequences the $k$-inversion sequences. In this paper, we provide a bijective proof that the ascent number over $k$-inversion sequences of length $n$ is equidistributed with a weighted variant of the ascent number of permutations of order $n$, which leads to an affirmative answer of a question of Savage (2016). A key ingredient of the proof is a bijection between $k$-inversion sequences of length $n$ and $2\times n$ arrays with particular restrictions. Moreover, we present a bijective proof of the fact that the ascent plateau number over $k$-Stirling permutations of order $n$ is equidistributed with the ascent number over $k$-inversion sequences of length $n$.

Abstract:We consider the series of reciprocals of those positive integers with exactly $k$ occurrences of a given $b$-ary digit $d$ (Irwin series), and obtain for their sums geometrically convergent representations. They are expressed in terms of the moments and Stieltjes transforms of certain measures on the unit interval and involve certain recurrences which convert straightforwardly into a numerical implementation. This framework allows a new perspective on the limit for large $k$, and is the basis for obtaining, as the author has done in further works, the asymptotics for large $b$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a generalization of the Stirling numbers of the first kind (classical and analogues versions) related to an extension of elementary symmetric function. These numbers appear as the coefficients of in the expression . The array formed by these coefficients can be seen as a natural generalization of the first Stirling triangle. We also give a combinatorial interpretation of the classical numbers in terms of s -tuples of permutations of [ n ] with k cycles and using the inversion and co-inversion statistics on the cycles in the case of the analogues numbers, which also allows us to establish as a particular case the analogues of the Stirling numbers of the first kind. In addition, using the Legendre–Stirling numbers and the Stirling numbers of the first kind new formulas and useful properties are proposed.

Abstract:In this work, the authors provide closed forms and recurrence expressions for computing the $k$th power of the formal power series, some of them in terms of a determinant of some matrices. As a consequence, we obtain the reciprocal of the unit of any formal power series. We apply these results to the generalized Bernoulli numbers and Bernoulli numbers, we derive new closed-form expressions and some recursive relations of these famous numbers. In addition, we present several identities in determinant form. Using these results, an elegant generalization of a well known identity of Euler is presented. We also note some connections between the Stirling numbers of the second kind and the generalized Bernoulli numbers.

Abstract:Using cyclotomic multiple zeta values of level 8, we confirm and generalize several conjectural identities on infinite series with summands involving 2kk8^k/(3kk6k3k). For example, we prove that ∑_k=0^∞(350k-17)2kk8^k/3kk6k3k=15√(2) π+27 and ∑_k=1^∞{(5k-1)[16𝖧_2k-1^(2)-3𝖧_k-1^(2)]-12(6k-1)/(2k-1)^2}2kk8^k/k(2k-1)3kk6k3k=π^3/12√(2), where 𝖧^(2)_m denotes the second-order harmonic number ∑_0<j≤ m1/j^2.

Abstract:Andrews recently introduced k-marked Durfee symbols which are connected to moments of Dyson's rank. By these connections, Andrews deduced their generating functions and some combinatorial properties and left their purely combinatorial proofs as open problems. The primary goal of this article is to provide combinatorial proofs in answer to Andrews' request. We obtain a relation between k-marked Durfee symbols and Durfee symbols by constructing bijections, and all identities on k-marked Durfee symbols given by Andrews could follow from this relation. In a similar manner, we also prove the identities due to Andrews on k-marked odd Durfee symbols combinatorially, which resemble ordinary k-marked Durfee symbols with a modified subscript and with odd numbers as entries.
