Abstract:In this article, we introduce a four-point analogue of Banach-type, Kannan-type, and Chatterjea-type contractions, and examine their properties. We establish sufficient conditions under which these mappings achieve fixed points in a complete metric space. Notably, the classical Banach contraction principle emerges as a special case of our results. To illustrate our theoretical findings, we present several non-trivial examples.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to establish sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of fixed points in complete metric spaces within the framework of perimetric contraction on quadrilaterals, and to explore the relationships between these mappings and other types of contraction mappings. Specifically: 1. **Introducing new types of contraction**: The paper introduces four - point analogues of Banach - type, Kannan - type and Chatterjea - type contractions and studies their properties. This includes defining new mapping types, such as perimetric contraction on quadrilaterals, and Kannan - type and Chatterjea - type perimetric contractions on quadrilaterals. 2. **Existence and uniqueness of fixed points**: The authors establish sufficient conditions for these mappings to reach fixed points in complete metric spaces. In particular, they prove that if the mapping does not have periodic points with prime periods of 2 or 3, the existence of fixed points can be guaranteed. Moreover, for some types of mappings, there can be at most three fixed points. 3. **Comparing different types of mappings**: The paper also compares different types of perimetric contraction mappings (such as Kannan - type and Chatterjea - type) and explores the relationships between them. For example, it is proved that the Kannan - type perimetric contraction mapping is a subset of the perimetric contraction mapping on quadrilaterals. 4. **Generalization of classical results**: It is pointed out in the paper that the classical Banach contraction principle is a special case of its results. This means that the newly introduced mapping types not only cover the classical results but also provide broader applicability and flexibility. 5. **Example verification**: To verify the validity of the theoretical results, the authors provide several non - trivial examples, showing the practical applications and characteristics of these new mappings. In summary, by introducing new types of contraction mappings and establishing corresponding fixed - point theorems, this paper expands the research scope of fixed - point theory, especially making progress in multi - point contraction mappings.
