Abstract:We show that the second bounded cohomology of finitely generated free racks is infinite dimensional by constructing rack quasimorphisms using homogenous group quasimorphisms. Similar construction works in the case of free quandles. We show that Rolli's generalization to free products also works in the case of racks.

Abstract:We introduce and investigate a natural family of metrics on connected components of a rack. The metrics are closely related to certain bi-invariant metrics on the group of inner automorphisms of the rack. We also introduce a bounded cohomology of racks and quandles, relate them to the above metrics and prove a certain vanishing result for racks and quandles with amenable group of inner automorphisms.

Abstract:Quandle homology was defined from rack homology as the quotient by a subcomplex corresponding to the idempotency, for invariance under the type I Reidemeister move. Similar subcomplexes have been considered for various identities of racks and moves on diagrams. We observe common aspects of these identities and subcomplexes; a quandle identity gives rise to a $2$-cycle, the abelian extension with a $2$-cocycle that vanishes on the $2$-cycle inherits the identity, and a subcomplex is constructed from the identity. Specific identities are examined among small connected quandles.

Abstract:Racks and quandles are algebraic structures with a single binary operation that is right self-distributive and right invertible, and additionally idempotent in the case of quandles. The invertibility condition is equivalent to the existence of a second binary operation that acts as a right inverse to the first, so that racks and quandles may also be viewed as algebraic structures with a pair of (dependent) binary operations. When forming a quotient rack or quandle it is necessary to take this two-operation view, and define a congruence as an equivalence relation on the rack or quandle that respects both operations. However, in defining a congruence some authors have omitted the condition on the inverse operation, and defined a congruence as an equivalence relation respecting the primary operation only. We show that while respecting the primary operation is sufficient in the case of finite racks and quandles, it is not in general sufficient in the infinite case. We do this by constructing explicit examples of "half congruences": equivalence relations that respect exactly one of the two operations. Our work also allows us to completely characterise congruences in connected Alexander quandles.

Abstract:We construct a ring structure on complex cobordism tensored with the rationals, which is related to the usual ring structure as quantum cohomology is related to ordinary cohomology. The resulting object defines a generalized two- dimensional topological field theory taking values in a category of spectra.

Abstract:Cup products provide a natural approach to access higher bounded cohomology groups. We extend vanishing results on cup products of Brooks quasimorphisms of free groups to cup products of median quasimorphisms, i.e., Brooks-type quasimorphisms of group actions on CAT(0) cube complexes. In particular, we obtain such vanishing results for groups acting on trees and for right-angled Artin groups. Moreover, we outline potential applications of vanishing results for cup products in bounded cohomology.

In this expository note we collect a series of useful structural results on the stack $\mathscr{C}oh^n(X)$ parametrising $0$-dimensional coherent sheaves of length $n$ over $X$. For instance, we discuss its functoriality (in particular its behaviour along étale maps), the support morphism to $\mathrm{Sym}^n(X)$, and its relationship with the Quot scheme of points $\mathrm{Quot}_X(\mathcal E,n)$ for fixed $\mathcal E\in \mathrm{Coh}(X)$.

Equivariant generalized cohomology via stacks

Abstract:We prove a general form of the statement that the cohomology of a quotient stack can be computed by the Borel construction. It also applies to the lisse extensions of generalized cohomology theories like motivic cohomology and algebraic cobordism. We use this to prove a (higher) equivariant Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem, comparing Borel-equivariant G-theory and equivariant Chow groups. We also give a Bernstein-Lunts-type gluing description of the infinity-category of equivariant sheaves on a scheme X, in terms of nonequivariant sheaves on X and sheaves on its Borel construction.

The space of non-extendable quasimorphisms

Abstract:For a pair $(G,N)$ of a group $G$ and its normal subgroup $N$, we consider the space of quasimorphisms and quasi-cocycles on $N$ non-extendable to $G$. To treat this space, we establish the five-term exact sequence of cohomology relative to the bounded subcomplex. As its application, we study the spaces associated with the kernel of the (volume) flux homomorphism, the IA-automorphism group of a free group, and certain normal subgroups of Gromov-hyperbolic groups. Furthermore, we employ this space to prove that the stable commutator length is equivalent to the stable mixed commutator length for certain pairs of a group and its normal subgroup.

Quasimorphisms on nonorientable surface diffeomorphism groups

Abstract:Bowden, Hensel, and Webb constructed infinitely many quasimorphisms on the diffeomorphism groups of orientable surfaces. In this paper, we extend their result to nonorientable surfaces. Namely, we prove that the space of nontrivial quasimorphisms $\widetilde{QH}(\mathrm{Diff}_0(N_g))$ on the identity component of the diffeomorphism group $\mathrm{Diff}_0(N_g)$ on a closed nonorientable surface $N_g$ of genus $g\geq 3$ is infinite-dimensional. As a corollary, we obtain the unboundedness of the commutator length and the fragmentation length on $\mathrm{Diff}_0(N_g)$.

Generalized (co)homology of symmetric quandles over homogeneous Beck modules

Abstract:A quandle equipped with a good involution is referred to as symmetric. It is known that the cohomology of symmetric quandles gives rise to strong cocycle invariants for classical and surface links, even when they are not necessarily oriented. In this paper, we introduce the category of symmetric quandle modules and prove that these modules completely determine the Beck modules in the category of symmetric quandles. Consequently, this establishes suitable coefficient objects for constructing appropriate (co)homology theories. We develop an extension theory of modules over symmetric quandles and propose a generalized (co)homology theory for symmetric quandles with coefficients in a homogeneous Beck module, which also recovers the symmetric quandle (co)homology developed by Kamada and Oshiro [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. (2010)]. Our constructions also apply to symmetric racks. We conclude by establishing an explicit isomorphism between the second cohomology of a symmetric quandle and the first cohomology of its associated group.

Cohomology rings of extended powers and free infinite loop spaces

Abstract:We calculate mod-p cohomology of extended powers, and their group completions which are free infinite loop spaces. We consider the cohomology of all extended powers of a space together and identify a Hopf ring structure with divided powers within which cup product structure is more readily computable than on its own. We build on our previous calculations of cohomology of symmetric groups, which are the cohomology of extended powers of a point, the well-known calculation of homology, and new results on cohomology of symmetric groups with coefficients in the sign representation. We then use this framework to understand cohomology rings of related spaces such as infinite extended powers and free infinite loop spaces. v2 typo in gradings of Theorem 2.35 corrected.

Abstract:In this note we observe that any compact quantum group monoidally equivalent, in a nice way, to a free wreath product of a compact quantum group $G$ by the quantum automorphism group of a finite dimensional C*-algebra with a $\delta$-form is actually isomorphic to a free wreath product of $G$ by the quantum automorphism group of another finite dimensional C*-algebra with a $\delta$-form.

On split quasi-hereditary covers and Ringel duality

Abstract:In this paper, we develop two new homological invariants called relative dominant dimension with respect to a module and relative codominant dimension with respect to a module. These are used to establish precise connections between Ringel duality, split quasi-hereditary covers and double centraliser properties. These homological invariants are studied over Noetherian algebras which are finitely generated and projective as a module over the ground ring and they are shown to behave nicely under change of rings techniques. It turns out that relative codominant dimension with respect to a summand of a characteristic tilting module is a useful tool to construct quasi-hereditary covers of Noetherian algebras and measure their quality. In particular, this homological invariant is used to construct split quasi-hereditary covers of quotients of Iwahori-Hecke algebras using Ringel duality of $q$-Schur algebras. Combining techniques of cover theory with relative dominant dimension theory we obtain a new proof for Ringel self-duality of the blocks of the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand category $\mathcal{O}$.

Abstract:We present connections between left non-degenerate solutions of the set-theoretic braid equation and left shelves using Drinfel'd homomorphisms. We generalize the notion of affine quandle, by using heap endomorphisms and metahomomorphisms, and identify the underlying Yang-Baxter algebra for solutions of the braid equation associated to a given quandle. We introduce the notion of the pre-Lie skew brace and identify certain affine quandles that give rise to pre-Lie skew braces. Generalisations of the braiding of a group, associated to set-theoretic solutions of the braid equation are also presented. These generalized structures encode part of the underlying Hopf algebra. We then introduce the quasi-triangular (quasi) Hopf algebras and universal R-matrices for rack and set-theoretic algebras. Generic set-theoretic solutions coming from heap endomorphisms are also identified.

Derived categories of Quot schemes of locally free quotients

Abstract:This paper studies the derived category of the Quot scheme of rank $d$ locally free quotients of a sheaf $\mathscr{G}$ of homological dimension $\le 1$ over a scheme $X$. In particular, we propose a conjecture about the structure of its derived category and verify the conjecture in various cases. This framework allows us to relax certain regularity conditions on various known formulae -- such as the ones for blowups (along Koszul-regular centers), Cayley's trick, standard flips, projectivizations, and Grassmannain-flips -- and supplement these formulae with the results on mutations and relative Serre functors. This framework also leads us to many new phenomena such as virtual flips, and structural results for the derived categories of (i) $\mathrm{Quot}_2$ schemes, (ii) flips from partial desingularizations of $\mathrm{rank}\le 2$ degeneracy loci, and (iii) blowups along determinantal subschemes of codimension $\le 4$.

Relative étale slices and cohomology of moduli spaces

Abstract:We use techniques of Alper-Hall-Rydh to prove a local structure theorem for smooth morphisms between smooth stacks around points with linearly reductive stabilizers. This implies that the good moduli space of a smooth stack over a base has equisingular fibers. As an application, we show that any two fibres have isomorphic $\ell$-adic cohomology rings and intersection cohomology groups. If we work over the complex numbers, we show that the family is topologically locally trivial on the base, and that the intersection cohomology groups of the fibers fit into a polarizable variation of pure Hodge structures. We apply these results to derive some consequences for the moduli spaces of $G$-bundles on smooth projective curves, and for the moduli spaces of sheaves on "negatively polarized" surfaces and on del Pezzo Gorenstein surfaces for nongeneric stability parameters.

Abstract:In this note, we discuss the derived functors of infinite products and homotopy limits. $QC(X)$, the category of quasi-coherent sheaves on a Deligne-Mumford stack $X$, usually has the property that the derived functors of product vanish after a finite stage. We use this fact to study the convergence of certain homotopy limits and apply it compare the derived category of $QC(X)$ with certain other closely related triangulated categories.

Abstract:Abstract We investigate the (separated) monomorphism category of a quiver over an Artin algebra . We show that there exists an epivalence (called representation equivalence in the terminology of Auslander) from to , where is the category of finitely generated ‐modules and and denote the respective injectively stable categories. Furthermore, if has at least one arrow, then we show that this is an equivalence if and only if is hereditary. In general, the epivalence induces a bijection between indecomposable objects in and noninjective indecomposable objects in , and we show that the generalized Mimo‐construction, an explicit minimal right approximation into , gives an inverse to this bijection. We apply these results to describe the indecomposables in the monomorphism category of radical square zero Nakayama algebras, and to give a bijection between the indecomposables in the monomorphism category of two artinian uniserial rings of Loewy length 3 with the same residue field. The main tool to prove these results is the language of a free monad of an exact endofunctor on an arbitrary abelian category. This allows us to avoid the technical combinatorics arising from quiver representations. The setup also specializes to more general settings, such as representations of modulations. In particular, we obtain new results on the singularity category of the algebras that were introduced by Geiss, Leclerc, and Schröer in order to extend their results relating cluster algebras and Lusztig's semicanonical basis to symmetrizable Cartan matrices. We also recover results on the algebras that were introduced by Lu and Wang to realize groups via semiderived Hall algebras.
