Abstract:The study of unimodular rows over a commutative ring involves the utilization of Suslin matrices. These matrices possess a Fundamental Property, which plays a crucial role in establishing connections between the group generated by special Suslin matrices and the special orthogonal group. Moreover, the Fundamental Property serves as a means to establish a link between Suslin matrices and Spin groups. In this work, we focus on row Suslin matrices, defining them and exploring their properties. We provide a proof for the Fundamental Property specific to row Suslin matrices.

Abstract:For a skew-symmetrizable cluster algebra ${\mathcal{A}}_{t_{0}}$ with principal coefficients at $t_{0}$, we prove that each seed $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F4}_{t}$ of ${\mathcal{A}}_{t_{0}}$ is uniquely determined by its $C$-matrix, which was proposed by Fomin and Zelevinsky (Compos. Math. 143 (2007), 112–164) as a conjecture. Our proof is based on the fact that the positivity of cluster variables and sign coherence of $c$-vectors hold for ${\mathcal{A}}_{t_{0}}$, which was actually verified in Gross et al. (Canonical bases for cluster algebras, J. Amer. Math. Soc. 31(2) (2018), 497–608). Further discussion is provided in the sign-skew-symmetric case so as to obtain a weak version of the conjecture in this general case.

Abstract:We give a description in terms of square matrices of the family of group-like algebras with $S*id=id*S=u\epsilon$. In the case that $S=id$ and $char\Bbbk$ is not 2 and does not divide the dimension of the algebra, this translation take us to Hadamard matrices and, particularly, to examples of biFrobenius algebras satisfying $S*id=id*S=u\epsilon$ and that are not Hopf algebras. Finally, we generalize some known results on separability and coseparability valid for finite dimensional Hopf algebras to this special class of biFrobenius algebras with $S*id=id*S=u\epsilon$, presenting a version of Maschke's theorem for this family.

Abstract:We study $2\times 2$ matrices over noncommutative rings with anti-involution, with a special focus on the symplectic group $\mathrm{Sp}_2(\mathcal{A},\sigma)$. We define traces and determinants of such matrices and use them to prove a Cayley Hamilton identity and trace relations which generalize well known relations for elements of $\mathrm{SL}_2(R)$ over a commutative ring. We compare the structure of elements of $\mathrm{Sp}_2(\mathcal{A},\sigma)$ with Manin matrices over general noncommutative rings; this naturally leads to a quantization $\mathrm{Sp}_2(\mathcal{A},\sigma)_q$. In contrast to the usual definition of the quantum group as a deformation of the ring of matrix functions on $\mathrm{SL}_2(R)$, this quantization produces a group of matrices over a new noncommutative ring with involution. We finish the comparison by constructing a generalization of a Hopf algebra structure on the noncommutative ring of matrix functions of our quantum group. Finally, we use the noncommutative surface-type cluster algebras of Berenstein and Retakh to give a geometric interpretation of our Hopf algebra structure and to produce noncommutative generalizations of Markov numbers over many rings with involution including the complex numbers, dual numbers, matrix rings, and group rings.

Generators and Relations for 3-Qubit Clifford+CS Operators

Abstract:We give a presentation by generators and relations of the group of 3-qubit Clifford+CS operators. The proof roughly consists of two parts: (1) applying the Reidemeister-Schreier theorem recursively to an earlier result of ours; and (2) the simplification of thousands of relations into 17 relations. Both (1) and (2) have been formally verified in the proof assistant Agda. The Reidemeister-Schreier theorem gives a constructive method for computing a presentation of a sub-monoid given a presentation of the super-monoid. To achieve (2), we devise an almost-normal form for Clifford+CS operators. Along the way, we also identify several interesting structures within the Clifford+CS group. Specifically, we identify three different finite subgroups for whose elements we can give unique normal forms. We show that the 3-qubit Clifford+CS group, which is of course infinite, is the amalgamated product of these three finite subgroups. This result is analogous to the fact that the 1-qubit Clifford+T group is an amalgamated product of two finite subgroups.

Abstract:The minimal irreducible representations of $U_q[gl(m|n)]$, i.e. those irreducible representations that are also irreducible under $U_q[osp(m|n)]$ are investigated and shown to be affinizable to give irreducible representations of the twisted quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[gl(m|n)^{(2)}]$. The $U_q[osp(m|n)]$ invariant R-matrices corresponding to the tensor product of any two minimal representations are constructed, thus extending our twisted tensor product graph method to the supersymmetric case. These give new solutions to the spectral-dependent graded Yang-Baxter equation arising from $U_q[gl(m|n)^{(2)}]$, which exhibit novel features not previously seen in the untwisted or non-super cases.

Abstract:Turner's Conjecture describes all blocks of symmetric groups and Hecke algebras up to derived equivalence in terms of certain double algebras. With a view towards a proof of this conjecture, we develop a general theory of Turner doubles. In particular, we describe doubles as explicit maximal symmetric subalgebras of certain generalized Schur algebras and establish a Schur–Weyl duality with wreath product algebras.

Abstract:In this manuscript we consider a special complex torus, denoted $S_{\Delta_{2k}}$ (for each $k \in \mathbb{N},\, k \geq 1$) and called the Dirac spinor torus. It is an Abelian variety of complex dimension $2^{k}$ whose covering space is the space of Dirac spinors, $\Delta_{2k}$, for the Clifford algebra $Cl(\mathbb{C}^{2k})$ associated with the vector space $\mathbb{C}^{2k}$. Fixing an isomorphism $\rho:Cl(\mathbb{C}^{2k})\rightarrow End (\Delta_{2k})$, we define Clifford multiplication on $S_{\Delta_{2k}}$ as the actions of those endomorphisms in the image of $\rho$ that preserve the full rank lattice. We analyze the properties of that Clifford multiplication on the 2-torsion points of the Dirac spinor torus. We identify the Clifford actions with permutation maps that represent all isomorphism classes of these actions on the group of 2-torsion points. We provide a structure theorem describing these isomorphism classes of Clifford actions in a way that is independent of the choice of representatives. We conclude by extending the scope of our analysis to the group of $n$-torsion points and analyzing the fixed points and translation constants of entry-permuting maps, a broader class of actions of which the Clifford actions on the 2-torsion points of $S_{\Delta_{2k}}$ is a subset.

Abstract:We describe the twisted affine superalgebra $sl(2|2)^{(2)}$ and its quantized version $U_q[sl(2|2)^{(2)}]$. We investigate the tensor product representation of the 4-dimensional grade star representation for the fixed point subsuperalgebra $U_q[osp(2|2)]$. We work out the tensor product decomposition explicitly and find the decomposition is not completely reducible. Associated with this 4-dimensional grade star representation we derive two $U_q[osp(2|2)]$ invariant R-matrices: one of them corresponds to $U_q[sl(2|2)^{(2)}]$ and the other to $U_q[osp(2|2)^{(1)}]$. Using the R-matrix for $U_q[sl(2|2)^{(2)}]$, we construct a new $U_q[osp(2|2)]$ invariant strongly correlated electronic model, which is integrable in one dimension. Interestingly, this model reduces, in the $q=1$ limit, to the one proposed by Essler et al which has a larger, $sl(2|2)$, symmetry.

Abstract:In this note, we propose a simple-looking but broad conjecture about star-algebras over the field of real numbers. The conjecture enables many matrix decompositions to be represented by star-algebras and star-ideals. This paper is written for people with a background in representation theory and module theory. The motivation for investigating this is the possibility of expressing polymorphic algorithms in numerical and theoretical linear algebra. This is similar to but different from algebraic (semiring based) approaches to dynamic programming. We prove certain cases of the conjecture.

Abstract:The Clebsch--Gordan coefficients of $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ are expressible in terms of Hahn polynomials. The phenomenon can be explained by an algebra homomorphism $\natural$ from the universal Hahn algebra $\mathcal H$ into $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\otimes U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$. Let $\Omega$ denote a finite set of size $D$ and $2^\Omega$ denote the power set of $\Omega$. It is generally known that $\mathbb C^{2^\Omega}$ supports a $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-module. Let $k$ denote an integer with $0\leq k\leq D$ and fix a $k$-element subset $x_0$ of $\Omega$. By identifying $\mathbb C^{2^\Omega}$ with $\mathbb C^{2^{\Omega\setminus x_0}}\otimes \mathbb C^{2^{x_0}}$ this induces a $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\otimes U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-module structure on $\mathbb C^{2^\Omega}$ denoted by $\mathbb C^{2^\Omega}(x_0)$. Pulling back via $\natural$ the $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\otimes U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-module $\mathbb C^{2^\Omega}(x_0)$ forms an $\mathcal H$-module. When $1\leq k\leq D-1$ the $\mathcal H$-module $\mathbb C^{2^\Omega}(x_0)$ enfolds the Terwilliger algebra of the Johnson graph $J(D,k)$ with respect to $x_0$. This result connects these two seemingly irrelevant topics: The Clebsch--Gordan coefficients of $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ and the Terwilliger algebras of Johnson graphs. Unfortunately some steps break down in the $q$-analog case. By making detours, the imperceptible connection between the Clebsch--Gordan coefficients of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ and the Terwilliger algebras of Grassmann graphs is successfully disclosed in this paper.

The Use of the Homogeneous Form in the Study of Singular Systems

Abstract:The objective of this paper is to present an algebraic theory for analyzing the infinite structures of singular systems. The key concept used in the development is the so-called homogeneous form for polynomial and rational matrices, which can be seen as a generalization of the well-known notion of homogeneous form for matrix pencils. We show how familiar concepts such as matrix fraction description, infinite poles and zeros, irreducibility, and cancellation at infinity appear naturally in this framework. The characterizations for some of these concepts are derived in terms of homogeneous forms. Considering singular systems to be alternative representations for (possibly nonproper) rational matrices, we are able to relate the fundamental concepts of controllability and reconstructibility for singular systems to the concept of complete coprimeness for rational matrices, and to relate the concept of minimal order of singular systems to the concept of the McMillan degree of rational matrices. As an important result, the equivalence relations among the concepts of joint controllability and reconstructibility, minimal order, and complete irreducibility are established. Moreover, we show that for any rational matrix factorized in matrix fraction description, the determinantal degree of the denominator matrix is the McMillan degree of the rational matrix if and only if the matrix fraction description is completely irreducible.

Abstract:We revisit the conjectural method called Schubert analysis for generating the alphabet of symbol letters for Feynman integrals, which was based on geometries of intersecting lines associated with corresponding cut diagrams. We explain the effectiveness of this somewhat mysterious method by relating such geometries to the corresponding Landau singularities, which also amounts to ``uplifting" Landau singularities of a Feynman integral to its symbol letters. We illustrate this {\it Landau-based Schubert analysis} using various multi-loop Feynman integrals in four dimensions and present an automated {\ttfamily Mathematica} notebook for it. We then apply the method to a simplified problem of studying alphabets of physical quantities such as scattering amplitudes and form factors in planar ${\cal N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills. By focusing on a small set of Landau diagrams (as opposed to all relevant Feynman integrals), we show how this method nicely produces the two-loop alphabet of $n$-point MHV amplitudes and that of the $n=4$ MHV form factors. A byproduct of our analysis is an explicit representation of any symbol alphabet obtained this way as the union of various type-$A$ cluster algebras.

Abstract:The Clifford spectrum is a form of joint spectrum for noncommuting matrices. This theory has been applied in photonics, condensed matter and string theory. In applications, the Clifford spectrum can be efficiently approximated using numerical methods, but this only is possible in low dimensional example. Here we examine the higher-dimensional spheres that can arise from theoretical examples. We also describe a constuctive method to generate five real symmetric almost commuting matrices that have a $K$-theoretical obstruction to being close to commuting matrices. For this, we look to matrix models of topological electric circuits.

Algebraic structures and Hamiltonians from the equivalence classes of 2D conformal algebras

Abstract:The construction of superintegrable systems based on Lie algebras and their universal enveloping algebras has been widely studied over the past decades. However, most constructions rely on explicit differential operator realisations and Marsden-Weinstein reductions. In this paper, we develop an algebraic approach based on the subalgebras of the 2D conformal algebra $\mathfrak{c}(2)$. This allows us to classify the centralisers of the enveloping algebra of the conformal algebra and construct the corresponding Hamiltonians with integrals in algebraic form. It is found that the symmetry algebras underlying these algebraic Hamiltonians are six-dimensional quadratic algebras. The Berezin brackets and commutation relations of the quadratic algebraic structures are closed without relying on explicit realisations or representations. We also give the Casimir invariants of the symmetry algebras. Our approach provides algebraic perspectives for the recent work by Fordy and Huang on the construction of superintegrable systems in the Darboux spaces.
