Abstract:We investigate to what extend finite-dimensional homogeneous locally compact $ANR$-spaces have common properties with Euclidean manifolds. Specially, the local structure of homogeneous $ANR$-spaces is described. Using that description, we provide a positive solution of the problem whether every finite-dimensional homogeneous metric $ANR$-compactum $X$ is dimensionally full-valued, i.e. $\dim X\times Y=\dim X+\dim Y$ for any metric compactum $Y$.

Abstract:All spaces are assumed to be separable and metrizable. Ostrovsky showed that every zero-dimensional Borel space is $\sigma$-homogeneous. Inspired by this theorem, we obtain the following results: assuming $\mathsf{AD}$, every zero-dimensional space is $\sigma$-homogeneous; assuming $\mathsf{AC}$, there exists a zero-dimensional space that is not $\sigma$-homogeneous; assuming $\mathsf{V=L}$, there exists a coanalytic zero-dimensional space that is not $\sigma$-homogeneous. Along the way, we introduce two notions of hereditary rigidity, and give alternative proofs of results of van Engelen, Miller and Steel. It is an open problem whether every analytic zero-dimensional space is $\sigma$-homogeneous.

Abstract:All spaces are assumed to be separable and metrizable. Building on work of van Engelen, Harrington, Michalewski and Ostrovsky, we obtain the following results: (1) Every finite-dimensional analytic space is $\sigma$-homogeneous with analytic witnesses, (2) Every finite-dimensional analytic space is $\sigma$-homogeneous with pairwise disjoint $\mathbf{\Delta}^1_2$ witnesses. Furthermore, the complexity of the witnesses is optimal in both of the above results. This completes the picture regarding $\sigma$-homogeneity in the finite-dimensional realm. It is an open problem whether every analytic space is $\sigma$-homogeneous. We also investigate finite unions of homogeneous spaces.

Abstract:Hausdorff operators on the real line and multidimensional Euclidean spaces originated from some classical summation methods. Now it is an active research area. Hausdorff operators on general groups were defined and studied by the author since 2019. The purpose of this paper is to define and study Hausdorff operators on Lebesgue and real Hardy spaces over homogeneous spaces of locally compact groups. We introduce in particular an atomic Hardy space over homogeneous spaces of locally compact groups and obtain conditions for boundedness of Hausdorff operators on such spaces. Several corollaries are considered and unsolved problems are formulated.

Abstract:We study homogeneity aspects of metric spaces in which all triples of distinct points admit pairwise different distances; such spaces are called isosceles-free. In particular, we characterize all homogeneous isosceles-free spaces up to isometry as vector spaces over the two-element field, endowed with an injective norm. Using isosceles-free decompositions, we provide bounds on the maximal number of distances in arbitrary homogeneous finite metric spaces.

History and Overview

Abstract:The theory uses methods and language of linear algebra to study nonlinear spaces. These techniques can be used particularly to describe analytic geometry of non-linear elliptic, hyperbolic, De Sitter and Anti de Sitter spaces. The main innovation of elaborated theory is space parameterization by introduction of space signature. This parameterization allows studying of different homogeneous spaces in one global framework. When the parameters are used as variables in definitions, axioms, equations, theorems, proofs, all these have exactly the same form that describes the reality of all homogeneous spaces simultaneously. When it is necessary to describe some space particularities or to see the difference between two concrete spaces, the concrete values can be put in parameters of each definition, axiom, equation, theorem and proof.

Abstract:Homogeneous spaces are de Branges' Hilbert spaces of entire functions with the property that certain weighted rescaling transforms induce isometries of the space into itself. A classical example of a homogeneous space is the Paley-Wiener space of entire functions with exponential type at most a being square integrable on the real axis. Other examples occur in the theory of the Bessel equation. Being homogeneous is a strong property, and one can describe all homogeneous spaces, their structure Hamiltonians, and the measures associated with chains of such spaces, explicitly in terms of powers, logarithms, and confluent hypergeometric functions. The theory of homogeneous spaces was in large parts settled by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://L.de" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> Branges in the early 1960's. However, in his work some connections and explicit formulae are not given, some results are stated without a proof, and last but not least a mistake occurs which seemingly remained unnoticed up to the day. In this paper we give a detailed account on homogeneous spaces. We provide explicit proofs for all formulae and relations between the mentioned objects, and correct the mentioned mistake.

Abstract:In the present paper we study naturally reductive homogeneous $(\alpha,\beta)$-metric spaces. Under some conditions, we give some necessary and sufficient conditions for a homogeneous $(\alpha,\beta)$-metric space to be naturally reductive. Then we show that for such spaces the two definitions of naturally reductive homogeneous Finsler space, given in literature, are equivalent. Finally we compute the flag curvature of naturally reductive homogeneous $(\alpha,\beta)$-metric spaces.

Abstract:This survey describes some useful properties of the local homology of abstract simplicial complexes. Although the existing literature on local homology is somewhat dispersed, it is largely dedicated to the study of manifolds, submanifolds, or samplings thereof. While this is a vital perspective, the focus of this survey is squarely on the local homology of abstract simplicial complexes. Our motivation comes from the needs of the analysis of hypergraphs and graphs. In addition to presenting many classical facts in a unified way, this survey presents a few new results about how local homology generalizes useful tools from graph theory. The survey ends with a statistical comparison of graph invariants with local homology.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study the m-point homogeneity property and the point homogeneity degree for finite metric spaces. Since the vertex sets of regular polytopes, as well as of some their generalizations, are homogeneous, we pay much attention to the study of the homogeneity properties of the vertex sets of polytopes in Euclidean spaces. Among main results, there is a classification of polyhedra with all edges of equal length and with 2-point homogeneous vertex sets. In addition, a significant part of the paper is devoted to the development of methods and tools for studying the relevant objects.

Abstract:We begin the study the algebraic topology of semi-coarse spaces, which are generalizations of coarse spaces that enable one to endow non-trivial `coarse-like' structures to compact metric spaces, something which is impossible in coarse geometry. We first study homotopy in this context, and we then construct homology groups which are invariant under semi-coarse homotopy equivalence. We further show that any undirected graph $G=(V,E)$ induces a semi-coarse structure on its set of vertices $V_G$, and that the respective semi-coarse homology is isomorphic to the Vietoris-Rips homology. This, in turn, leads to a homotopy invariance theorem for the Vietoris-Rips homology of undirected graphs.

Abstract:Let $X=G/H$ be a reductive homogeneous space with $H$ noncompact, endowed with a $G$-invariant pseudo-Riemannian structure. Let $L$ be a reductive subgroup of $G$ acting properly on $X$ and $\Gamma$ a torsion-free discrete subgroup of $L$. Under the assumption that the complexification $X_{\mathbb C}$ is $L_{\mathbb C}$-spherical, we prove an explicit correspondence between spectral analysis on the standard locally homogeneous space $X_{\Gamma}=\Gamma\backslash X$ and on $\Gamma\backslash L$ via branching laws for the restriction to $L$ of irreducible representations of $G$. In particular, we prove that the pseudo-Riemannian Laplacian on $X_{\Gamma}$ is essentially self-adjoint, and that it admits an infinite point spectrum when $X_{\Gamma}$ is compact or $\Gamma\subset L$ is arithmetic. The proof builds on structural results for invariant differential operators on spherical homogeneous spaces with overgroups.

A Class of Homeomorphisms on Homogeneous Spaces of a Group Action

Abstract:We develop a class of homeomorphisms on a compact homogeneous space of a transitive group action and show how the class sheds new light on a decomposition problem. We further use this class to show that every such homogeneous space in a locally convex topological vector space which is also convex must necessarily be trivial, ie. a singleton set. Additionally, this class of homeomorphisms allows us to relate the induced group action on the space of continuous functions to the action on the homogeneous space.

In this paper we compare the results available in the literature and complete the existing ones in one of the two settings. Abstract:Continuing with the study of Approximately ultrahomogeneous and Fraïssé Banach spaces introduced by V. Ferenczi, J. López-Abad, B. Mbombo and S. Todorcevic, we define formally weaker and in some aspects more natural properties of Banach spaces which we call Almost ultrahomogeneity and the Almost Fraïssé Property. We obtain relations between these different homogeneity properties of a space $E$ and relate them to certain pseudometrics on the class $\mathrm{Age}(E)$ of finite dimensional subspaces of $E$. We prove that ultrapowers of an almost Fraïssé Banach space are ultrahomogeneous. We also study two properties called finitely isometrically extensible and almost finitely isometrically extensible, respectively, and prove that approximately ultrahomogeneous Banach spaces are finitely isometrically extensible.
