Abstract:We outline a proof of a remarkable conjecture of Labastida-Mari{\~n}o-Ooguri-Vafa about certain new algebraic structures of quantum link invariants and the integrality of infinite family of new topological invariants. Our method is based on the cut-and-join analysis and a special rational ring characterizing the structure of the Chern-Simons partition function.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a first partial negative answer to a question proposed by Li and Lin (Arch Ration Mech Anal 203(3):943-968, 2012). Meanwhile we also give a second partial positive answer to the Li-Lin's open problem. The first partial positive answer was given by G. Cerami, X. Zhong and W. Zou (Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations, 54(2):1793-1829, 2015).

Abstract:In current deductions of the inverse scattering method for solving the equation of a ferromagnetic chain, the factor λ~(-1) brings about difficulties. In this note, we show that this factor should be dropped and an equivalent result to the Takhtajan's equation can be obtained, except for some expected corrections at point λ = 0. It is also verified that the solutions given by the ISM satisfy the equation of a ferromagnetic chain.

Abstract:In this note, we improved the Liouville type theorem for the Beltrami flows. Two different methods are used to prove it, one is the monotonicity method, and another is proof by contradiction. The conditions that we proposed on Beltrami flows are significantly weaker than previously known conditions.

Abstract: In this paper, we prove Dahmen and Beukers' conjecture that the number of integral Lam\'{e} equations with index $n$ modulo scalar equivalence with the monodromy group dihedral $D_{N}$ of order $2N$ is given by \[L_{n}(N)=\frac{1}{2}\left( \frac{n(n+1)\Psi(N)}{24}-\left( a_{n}% \phi(N)+b_{n}\phi(\tfrac{N}{2}) \right) \right) +\frac{2}% {3}\varepsilon_{n}(N).\] Our main tool is the new pre-modular form $Z_{r,s}^{(n)}(\tau)$ of weight $n(n+1)/2$ introduced by Lin and Wang \cite{LW2} and the associated modular form $M_{n,N}(\tau):=\prod_{(r,s)}Z_{r,s}^{(n)}(\tau)$ of weight $\Psi(N)n(n+1)/{2}$, where the product runs over all $N$-torsion points $(r,s)$ of exact order $N$. We show that this conjecture is equivalent to the precise formula of the vanishing order of $M_{n,N}(\tau)$ at infinity: \[v_{\infty}(M_{n,N}(\tau))=a_{n}\phi(N)+b_{n}\phi( N/2).\] This formula is extremely hard to prove because the explicit expression of $Z_{r,s}^{(n)}(\tau)$ is not known for general $n$. Here we succeed to prove it by using certain Painlev\'{e} VI equations. Our result also indicates that this conjecture is intimately connected with the problem of counting pole numbers of algebraic solutions of certain Painlev\'{e} VI equations. The main results of this paper has been announced in \cite{Lin-CDM}.

Abstract:By the well-known I.Kotlarski lemma, if $\xi_1$, $\xi_2$, and $\xi_3$ are independent real-valued random variables with nonvanishing characteristic functions, $L_1=\xi_1-\xi_3$ and $L_2=\xi_2-\xi_3$, then the distribution of the random vector $(L_1, L_2)$ determines the distributions of the random variables $\xi_j$ up to shift. Siran Li and Xunjie Zheng generalized this result for the linear forms $L_1=\xi_1+a_2\xi_2+a_3\xi_3$ and $L_2=b_2\xi_2+b_3\xi_3+\xi_4$ assuming that all $\xi_j$ have first and second moments, $\xi_2$ and $\xi_3$ are identically distributed, and $a_j$, $b_j$ satisfy some conditions. In the article, we give a simpler proof of this theorem. In doing so, we also prove that the condition of existence of moments can be omitted. Moreover, we prove an analogue of the Li--Zheng theorem for independent random variables with values in the field of $p$-adic numbers, in the field of integers modulo $p$, where $p\ne 2$, and in the discrete field of rational numbers.

Abstract:In 1956, Je$\acute{s}$manowicz conjectured that, for positive integers $m$ and $n$ with $m>n, \, \gcd(m,\, n)=1$ and $m\not\equiv n\pmod{2}$, the exponential Diophantine equation $(m^2-n^2)^x+(2mn)^y=(m^2+n^2)^z$ has only the positive integer solution $(x,\,y,\, z)=(2,\,2,\,2)$. Recently, Ma and Chen \cite{MC17} proved the conjecture if $4\not|mn$ and $y\ge2$. In this paper, we present an elementary proof of the result of Ma and Chen \cite{MC17}.

Abstract:In this short note, we give a new proof of a recent result of Tong Liu on torsions in the graded pieces of a Nygaard filtration associated to a crystalline lattice. Our approach is inspired on the one hand by a result of Gee--Kisin on the shape of mod $p$ crystalline Breuil--Kisin modules, and on the other hand by a connection between the Deligne--Illusie theorem and the Sen operator on the diffracted Hodge complex, as observed by Drinfeld and Bhatt--Lurie.
