Abstract:This paper is part of a series of three articles with the objective of investigating a stratified version of the homotopy hypothesis in terms of semimodel structures that interact well with classical examples of stratified spaces, such as Whitney stratified spaces. To this end, we prove the existence of several combinatorial simplicial model structures in the combinatorial setting of stratified simplicial sets. One of these we show to be Quillen equivalent to the left Bousfield localization of the Joyal model structure that presents the $(\infty,1)$-category of layered $(\infty,1)$-categories, i.e., such $(\infty,1)$-categories in which every endomorphism is an isomorphism.

Stratification and the smashing spectrum

Abstract:We develop the theory of stratification for a rigidly-compactly generated tensor-triangulated category using the smashing spectrum and the small smashing support. Within the stratified context, we investigate connections between big prime ideals, objectwise-prime ideals and homological primes, and we show that the Telescope Conjecture holds if and only if the homological spectrum is $T_0$ and the homological support detects vanishing. We also reduce stratification to smashing localizations. Moreover, we study induced maps between smashing spectra and prove a descent theorem for stratification. Outside the stratified context, we prove that the Telescope Conjecture holds if and only if the smashing spectrum is $T_0$ with respect to the small topology.

Abstract:In this article we consider the homotopy theory of stratified spaces from a simplicial point of view. We first consider a model category of filtered simplicial sets over some fixed poset PP, and show that it is a simplicial combinatorial model category. We then define a generalization of the homotopy groups for any fibrant filtered simplicial set XX : the filtered homotopy groups sπn(X)s\pi _n(X). They are diagrams of groups built from the homotopy groups of the different pieces of XX. We then show that the weak equivalences are exactly the morphisms that induce isomorphisms on those filtered homotopy groups. Then, using filtered versions of the topological realisation of a simplicial set and of the simplicial set of singular simplices, we transfer those results to a category whose objects are topological spaces stratified over PP. In particular, we get a stratified version of Whitehead’s theorem. Specializing to the case of conically stratified spaces, a wide class of topological stratified spaces, we recover a theorem of Miller saying that to understand the homotopy type of conically stratified spaces, one only has to understand the homotopy type of strata and holinks. We then provide a family of examples of conically stratified spaces and of computations of their filtered homotopy groups.

Abstract:A stratified space is a topological space equipped with a \emph{stratification}, which is a decomposition or partition of the topological space satisfying certain extra conditions. More recently, the notion of poset-stratified space, i.e., topological space endowed with a continuous map to a poset with its Alexandrov topology, has been popularized. Both notions of stratified spaces are ubiquitous in mathematics, ranging from investigations of singular structures in algebraic geometry to extensions of the homotopy hypothesis in higher category theory. In this article we study the precise mathematical relation between these different approaches to stratified spaces.

The main motivation was to made from $H$-Hamiltonian spectra an operation and develop some algebra in this field. An improved version of this operation form a commutative monoid. The most important thing is that most of the basic concepts of graph theory, such as maximum pairing, vertex and edge connectivity and coloring, Ramsey numbers, isomorphisms and regularity, can be expressed in the language of this operation.

Abstract:We initiate the theory of graded commutative 2-rings, a categorification of graded commutative rings. The goal is to provide a systematic generalization of Paul Balmer's comparison maps between the spectrum of tensor-triangulated categories and the Zariski spectra of their central rings. By applying our constructions, we compute the spectrum of the derived category of perfect complexes over any graded commutative ring, and we associate to every scheme with an ample family of line bundles an embedding into the spectrum of an associated graded commutative 2-ring.

Abstract:Building on work of Marta Bunge in the one-categorical case, we characterize when a given model category is Quillen equivalent to a presheaf category with the projective model structure. This involves introducing a notion of homotopy atoms, generalizing the orbits of Dwyer and Kan. Apart from the orbit model structures of Dwyer and Kan, our examples include the classification of stable model categories after Schwede and Shipley, isovariant homotopy theory after Yeakel, and Cat-enriched homotopy theory after Gu. The most surprising example is the classical category of spectra, which turns out to be equivalent to the presheaf category of pointed simplicial sets indexed by the desuspensions of the sphere spectrum. No Bousfield localization is needed. As an application, we give a classification of polynomial functors (the sense of Goodwillie calculus) from finite pointed simplicial sets to spectra, and compare it to the previous work by Arone and Ching.

Abstract:This paper attempts to demystify the notion of the smashing spectrum of a presentably symmetric monoidal stable $\infty$-category, which is a locale whose opens correspond to smashing localizations. It has been studied in tensor-triangular geometry in the compactly generated rigid case. Our main result states that the smashing spectrum functor is right adjoint to the spectral sheaves functor; it in particular gives an external definition using neither objects, ideals, nor localizations. This sheaves-spectrum adjunction informally means that the smashing spectrum gives the best approximation of a given $\infty$-category by $\infty$-categories of sheaves. We in fact prove the unstable version of this result by finding a correct unstable extension of smashing spectrum, which instead parameterizes smashing colocalizations. As an application, we give a categorical presentation of Clausen--Scholze's categorified locales.

Abstract:We introduce an analog of the Ziegler spectrum for maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over a complete Cohen-Macaulay local ring. We define a topology on the space of isomorphism classes of indecomposable maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules and investigate the topological structure. We also calculate the Cantor-Bendixson rank for a ring which is of CM_+-finite representation type.

Abstract:For an arbitrary $\infty$-topos, we classify the smashing localizations in the $\infty$-category of sheaves valued in derived vector spaces: Any of them is the restriction functor to a (unique) closed subtopos. Our proof is based on the existence of a Boolean cover. This result in particular gives us the first example of a nonzero presentably symmetric monoidal stable $\infty$-category whose smashing spectrum has no points. Combining this with the sheaves-spectrum adjunction, we obtain a Tannaka-type categorical reconstruction result for locales.

Categorical spectra as pointed $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories

Abstract:Lessard's $\mathbb{Z}$-categories are an analogue of $\omega$-categories possessing cells in all positive and negative dimensions. Categorical spectra, developed by Stefanich, are an analogue of spectra obtained by replacing the suspension of pointed $\infty$-groupoids by that of pointed $(\infty,\omega)$-categories. We give an $\infty$-categorical definition of weak $\mathbb{Z}$-categories (alias $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories), and show categorical spectra to be equivalent to pointed $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories. In particular, we show that the stable cells of categorical spectra coincide with the natural cells of $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories, and recover Lessard's description of spectra as pointed weak $\mathbb{Z}$-groupoids.

Abstract:We study the relationship between two stratifications on parameter spaces for coherent sheaves and for quiver representations: a stratification by Harder-Narasimhan types and a stratification arising from the geometric invariant theory construction of the associated moduli spaces of semistable objects. For quiver representations, both stratifications coincide, but this is not quite true for sheaves. We explain why the stratifications on various Quot schemes do not coincide and see that the correct parameter space to compare such stratifications is the stack of coherent sheaves. Then we relate these stratifications for sheaves and quiver representations using a generalisation of a construction of Álvarez-Cónsul and King.

Abstract:We develop an alternative approach to the homological spectrum through the lens of definable subcategories. This culminates in a proof that the homological spectrum is homeomorphic to a quotient of the Ziegler spectrum. Along the way, we characterise injective objects in homological residue fields in terms of the definable subcategory corresponding to a given homological prime. We use these results to give a purity perspective on the relationship between the homological and Balmer spectrum.

Abstract:The associative spectrum of a groupoid (i.e., a set with a binary operation) measures its nonassociativity while the associative-commutative spectrum measures both nonassociativity and noncommutativity of the groupoid. The two spectra are also the coefficients of the Hilbert series of certain operads. We establish upper bounds for the two spectra of various varieties of groupoids defined by different sets of identities and provide examples (often groupoids with three elements) for which the upper bounds are achieved. Our results have connections to many interesting combinatorial objects and integer sequences and naturally lead to some questions for future studies.

Exodromy beyond conicality

Abstract:We show that compact subanalytic stratified spaces and algebraic stratifications of real varieties have finite exit-path $\infty$-categories, refining classical theorems of Lefschetz-Whitehead, Lojasiewicz, and Hironaka on the finiteness of the underlying homotopy types of these spaces. These stratifications are typically not conical; hence we cannot rely on the currently available exodromy equivalence between constructible sheaves on a stratified space, which requires conicality as a fundamental hypothesis. Building on ideas of Clausen and Orsnes Jansen, we study the class of exodromic stratified spaces, for which the conclusion of the exodromy theorem holds. We prove two new fundamental properties of this class of stratified spaces: coarsenings of exodromic stratifications are exodromic, and every morphism between exodromic stratified spaces induces a functor between the associated exit path $\infty$-categories. As a consequence, we produce many new examples of exodromic stratified spaces, including: coarsenings of conical stratifications, locally finite subanalytic stratifications of real analytic spaces, and algebraic stratifications of real varieties. Our proofs are at the generality of stratified $\infty$-topoi, hence apply to even more general situations such as stratified topological stacks. Finally, we use the previously mentioned finiteness results to construct derived moduli stacks of constructible and perverse sheaves.

Abstract:Abstract Let be a non‐Archimedean Banach ring, satisfying some mild technical hypothesis that we will specify later on. We prove that it is possible to associate to a homotopical Huber spectrum via the introduction of the notion of derived rational localization. The spectrum so obtained is endowed with a derived structural sheaf of simplicial Banach algebras for which the derived C̆ech–Tate complex is strictly exact. Under some hypothesis, we can prove that there is a canonical morphism of underlying topological spaces that is a homeomorphism in some well‐known examples of non‐sheafy Banach rings, where is the usual Huber spectrum of . This permits the use of the tools from derived geometry to understand the geometry of in cases when the classical structure sheaf is not a sheaf.
