Abstract:We obtain well-posedness for Dirac equations with a Hartree-type nonlinearity derived by decoupling the Dirac-Klein-Gordon system. We extend the function space of initial data, enabling us to handle initial data that were not addressed in previous studies.

Abstract:We study a class of two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equations with point-like singular perturbation and Hartree non-linearity. The point-like singular perturbation of the free Laplacian induces appropriate perturbed Sobolev spaces that are necessary for the study of ground states and evolution flow. We include in our treatment both mass sub-critical and mass critical Hartree non-linearities. Our analysis is two-fold: we establish existence, symmetry, and regularity of ground states, and we demonstrate the well-posedness of the associated Cauchy problem in the singular perturbed energy space. The first goal, unlike other treatments emerging in parallel with the present work, is achieved by a nontrivial adaptation of the standard properties of Schwartz symmetrization for the modified Weinstein functional. This produces, among others, modified Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities that allow to efficiently control the non-linearity and obtain well-posedness by energy methods. The evolution flow is proved to be global in time in the defocusing case, and in the focusing and mass sub-critical case. It is also global in the focusing and mass critical case, for initial data that are suitably small in terms of the best Gagliardo-Nirenberg constant.

Existence and stability of standing waves for nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations with Hartree type nonlinearity

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations with Hartree type nonlinearity. We obtain the existence of standing waves by studying the related constrained minimization problems by applying the concentration-compactness principle. Via symmetric decreasing rearrangements, we also show that the standing waves, up to a translations and phases, are positive symmetric nonincreasing functions. Moreover, we prove that the set of minimizers is a stable set for the initial value problem of the equations, that is, a solution whose initial data is near the set will remain near it for all time.

Moreover, we show that the straight lines $p+q=\frac{2(N+\alpha)}{N}$ and $ p+ q = 2^{*}_{\alpha}$ are critical for the existence of solutions.

Abstract:We prove that the fundamental semi-group $e^{it\left( {m^2 I + \left| \Delta \right|} \right)^{1/2} }$ (m ≠ 0) of the Klein-Gordon equation is bounded on the modulation space M p,q s (ℝ n ) for all 0 < p, q ⩽ ∞ and s ∈ ℝ. Similarly, we prove that the wave semi-group $e^{it\left| \Delta \right|^{1/2} }$ is bounded on the Hardy type modulation spaces µ p,q s (ℝ n ) for all 0 < p, q ⩽ ∞, and s ∈ ℝ. All the bounds have an asymptotic factor t n|1/p−1/2| as t goes to the infinity. These results extend some known results for the case of p ⩾ 1. Also, some applications for the Cauchy problems related to the semi-group $e^{it\left( {m^2 I + \left| \Delta \right|} \right)^{1/2} }$ are obtained. Finally we discuss the optimum of the factor t n|1/p−1/2| and raise some unsolved problems.
Energy-critical inhomogeneous generalized Hartree equation with inverse square potential

Abstract:This work studies the Cauchy problem for the energy-critical inhomogeneous Hartree equation with inverse square potential $$i\partial_t u-\mathcal K_\lambda u=\pm |x|^{-\tau}|u|^{p-2}(I_\alpha *|\cdot|^{-\tau}|u|^p)u, \quad \mathcal K_\lambda=-\Delta+\frac\lambda{|x|^2}$$ in the energy space $H_\lambda^1:=\{f\in L^2,\quad\sqrt{\mathcal{K}_\lambda}f\in L^2\}$. In this paper, we develop a well-posedness theory and investigate the blow-up of solutions in $H_\lambda^1$. Furthermore we present a dichotomy between energy bounded and non-global existence of solutions under the ground state threshold. To this end, we use Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg weighted interpolation inequalities and some equivalent norms considering $\mathcal K_\lambda$, which make it possible to control the non-linearity involving the singularity $|x|^{-\tau}$ as well as the inverse square potential. The novelty here is the investigation of the energy critical regime which remains still open and the challenge is to deal with three technical problems: a non-local source term, an inhomogeneous singular term $|\cdot|^{-\tau}$, and the presence of an inverse square potential.

Examples of such equations include Dirac-harmonic maps with curvature term and the equations describing the generalized Weierstrass representation of surfaces in three-manifolds. Abstract:We introduce a mathematical model in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ for evolution equations with modified generalized Hartree nonlinearity given by $S_{\alpha,p,q}(u)=I_{\alpha}(|u|^{p+q}).$ One can see that this nonlinearity is not integrable due to the boundedness property of Riesz potential. In other words, we cannot deal with the Cauchy problem of semi-linear evolution equations with $S_{\alpha,p,q}(u)$ and $L^{1}$-initial velocity.

Abstract:We consider Dirac operators on the half-line, subject to generalised infinite-mass boundary conditions. We derive sufficient conditions which guarantee the stability of the spectrum against possibly non-self-adjoint potential perturbations and study the optimality of the obtained results. Finally, we establish a non-relativistic limit which makes a relationship of the present model to the Robin Laplacian on the half-line.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following nonlinear Dirac equations \begin{align*} \begin{cases} -i\sum\limits_{k=1}^3\alpha_k\partial_k u+m\beta u=f(x,|u|)u+\omega u, \displaystyle \int_{\mathbb{R}^3} |u|^2dx=a^2, \end{cases} \end{align*} where $u: \mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}^{4}$, $m>0$ is the mass of the Dirac particle, $\omega\in \mathbb{R}$ arises as a Lagrange multiplier, $\partial_k=\frac{\partial}{\partial x_k}$, $\alpha_1,\alpha_2,\alpha_3$ are $4\times 4$ Pauli-Dirac matrices, $a>0$ is a prescribed constant, and $f(x,\cdot)$ has several physical interpretations that will be discussed in the Introduction. Under general assumptions on the nonlinearity $f$, we prove the existence of $L^2$-normalized solutions for the above nonlinear Dirac equations by using perturbation methods in combination with Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction. We also show the multiplicity of these normalized solutions thanks to the multiplicity theorem of Ljusternik-Schnirelmann. Moreover, we obtain bifurcation results of this problem.

On Hamiltonian formulations of the Dirac system

Abstract:We extend a previously successful discussion of the constrained Schrödinger system through the Dirac--Bergmann algorithm to the case of the Dirac field. In order to follow the analogy, first we discuss the classical Dirac field as a spinorial variable, by introducing properly defined momenta and a suitably modified, factor ordered Poisson bracket. According to the Dirac--Bergmann algorithm two second class Hamiltonian constraints emerge, leading to a factor ordered Dirac bracket on the full phase space. This becomes the Poisson bracket on the reduced phase space in the canonical chart adapted to the shell. The Dirac equation is recovered both as consistency condition on the full phase space and as canonical equation on the reduced phase space. Alternatively, considering the Dirac field as odd Grassmann variable, we present the details of the Dirac--Bergmann algorithm (with either left and righ derivatives acting on Grassmann valued superfunctions and involving a different type of generalized Poisson and Dirac brackets). We propose a recipe for the canonical second quantization of all three versions of the generalized Dirac brackets, yielding the correct fundamental anticommutator.

Strong ill-posedness for fractional Hartree and cubic NLS Equations

Abstract:We consider fractional Hartree and cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations on Euclidean space $\mathbb R^d$ and on torus $\mathbb T^d$. We establish norm inflation (a stronger phenomena than standard ill-posedness) at every initial data in Fourier amalgam spaces with negative regularity. In particular, these spaces include Fourier-Lebesgue, modulation and Sobolev spaces. We further show that this can be even worse by exhibiting norm inflation with an infinite loss of regularity. To establish these phenomena, we employ a Fourier analytic approach and introduce new resonant sets corresponding to the fractional dispersion $(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2}$. In particular, when dispersion index $\alpha$ is large enough, we obtain norm inflation {above} scaling critical regularity in some of these spaces. It turns out that our approach could treat both equations (Hartree and power-type NLS) in a unified manner. The method should also work for a broader range of nonlinear equations with Hartree-type nonlinearity.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the phase mixing estimates for the density and its derivatives associated with the nonlinear Hartree equation around certain translation-invariant equilibria. Their decay rates are exactly the same as those of free Hartree dynamics. Our method is based on pointwise decay estimates of the Green function associated with the linearized operator in Fourier space and a nonlinear iterative scheme. Abstract:We investigate the stability of plane wave solutions of equations describing quantum particles interacting with a complex environment. The models take the form of PDE systems with a non local (in space or in space and time) self-consistent potential; such a coupling lead to challenging issues compared to the usual non linear Schr{ö}dinger equations. The analysis relies on the identification of suitable Hamiltonian structures and Lyapounov functionals. We point out analogies and differences between the original model, involving a coupling with a wave equation, and its asymptotic counterpart obtained in the large wave speed regime. In particular, while the analogies provide interesting intuitions, our analysis shows that it is illusory to obtain results on the former based on a perturbative analysis from the latter.

Abstract:We develop estimates for the solutions and derive existence and uniqueness results of various local boundary value problems for Dirac equations that improve all relevant results known in the literature. With these estimates at hand, we derive a general existence, uniqueness and regularity theorem for solutions of Dirac equations with such boundary conditions. We also apply these estimates to a new nonlinear elliptic-parabolic problem, the Dirac-harmonic heat flow on Riemannian spin manifolds. This problem is motivated by the supersymmetric nonlinear σ-model and combines a harmonic heat flow type equation with a Dirac equation that depends nonlinearly on the flow.
