Abstract:In this paper we study prime and maximal ideals in a Hurwitz polynomial ring hR. It is well-known that to study many questions we may assume R is prime and consider just R-disjoint ideals. We give a characterization for an R-disjoint ideal to be prime. We study conditions under which there exists an R-disjoint ideal which is a maximal ideal and when this is the case how to determine all such maximal ideals. maximal ideal to be generated by polynomials of minimal degree.

Abstract:A characterization of right (left) quasi-duo skew polynomial rings of endomorphism type and skew Laurent polynomial rings are given. In particular, it is shown that (1) the polynomial ring R[x] is right quasi-duo iff R[x] is commutative modulo its Jacobson radical iff R[x] is left quasi-duo, (2) the skew Laurent polynomial ring is right quasi-duo iff it is left quasi-duo. These extend some known results concerning a description of quasi-duo polynomial rings and give a partial answer to the question posed by Lam and Dugas whether right quasi-duo rings are left quasi-duo.

The Eliahou-Kervaire resolution over a skew polynomial ring

Abstract:In a 1987 paper, Eliahou and Kervaire constructed a minimal resolution of a class of monomial ideals in a polynomial ring, called stable ideals. As a consequence of their construction they deduced several homological properties of stable ideals. Furthermore they showed that this resolution admits an associative, graded commutative product that satisfies the Leibniz rule. In this paper we show that their construction can be extended to stable ideals in skew polynomial rings. As a consequence we show that the homological properties of stable ideals proved by Eliahou and Kervaire hold also for stable ideals in skew polynomial rings. Finally we show that the resolution we construct admits a product generalizing the one given by Eliahou and Kervaire in the commutative case.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate primeness of groupoid graded rings. We provide a set of necessary and sufficient conditions for primeness of a nearly-epsilon strongly groupoid graded ring. Furthermore, we apply our main result to get a characterization of prime partial skew groupoid rings, and in particular of prime groupoid rings, thereby generalizing a classical result by Connell and partially generalizing recent results by Steinberg.

Abstract:Let R be a ring with a monomorphism α and an α -derivation δ . In this article, we give a simple and different proof about the semiprimitivity of Ore extensions which states that the skew polynomial ring R[x;α,δ] is semiprimitive reduced if and only if R is α -rigid. This unifies and extends a number of known results on the Jacobson radical in the special cases. Also, as an application of our results, by imposing constraints on α and δ , we completely identify the Jacobson radical of rings whose the set of all nilpotent elements has special conditions. Important examples are provided to illustrate the applications of the results.

Extensions of Strongly Alpha-Reversible Rings

Abstract:We introduce the notion of strongly alpha-reversible rings which is a strong version of alpha-reversible rings, and investigate its properties. We first give an example to show that strongly reversible rings need not be strongly alpha-reversible. We next argue about the strong alpha-reversibility of some kinds of extensions. A number of properties of this version are established. It is shown that a ring R is strongly right alpha-reversible if and only if its polynomial ring R[x] is strongly right alpha-reversible if and only if its Laurent polynomial ring R[x, x(-1)] is strongly right alpha-reversible. Moreover, we introduce the concept of Nil-alpha-reversible rings to investigate the nilpotent elements in alpha-reversible rings. Examples are given to show that right Nil-alpha-reversible rings need not be right alpha-reversible.

We will prove that every alpha-irreducible ideal in a ring is alpha-strongly irreducible if and only if it is a completely distributive ring.

Abstract:This paper centers around one of several generalizations of primary ideals. Which is an intermediate class between S -primary ideals and quasi S -primary ideals. Let R be a commutative ring with identity and S be a multiplicative closed subset of R . A proper ideal I of R disjoint from S is called strongly quasi S-primary if there exists an s∈S such that whenever x,y∈R and xy∈I , then either sx2∈I or sy∈I . Many basic properties of strongly quasi S -primary ideals are given, and examples are presented to distinguish the last concept from other classical ideals. Moreover, forms of strongly quasi S -primary ideals in polynomial rings, power series rings and idealization of a module are investigated.

A note on semiprime skew left braces and related semidirect products

Abstract:In this paper, we focus on semiprime skew left braces provided by semidirect products. We show that if a semidirect product $B_1\rtimes B_2$ is semiprime and $B_1$ is Artinian, then $B_1$ must be semiprime. Moreover, we prove that the semidirect product of strongly semiprime skew left braces is strongly semiprime. Finally, following \cite[Question $1$]{smoktunowicz2024more}, we provide examples of skew left braces of abelian type that are non-simple and strongly prime.

Abstract:We study the defining ideal of a numerical semigroup ring k [ H ] using the inverse polynomial attached to the Artinian ring k [ H ] / ( t h ) . We give a criterion for H to be symmetric or almost symmetric using the annihilator of the inverse system. Also we give characterizations of symmetric numerical semigroups with small multiplicity and give a new proof of Bresinsky's Theorem for symmetric semigroups generated by 4 elements.

Abstract:Principal symmetric ideals were recently introduced by Harada, Seceleanu, and Sega, with a focus on their homological properties. They are ideals generated by the orbit of a single polynomial under permutations of variables in a polynomial ring. In this paper we seek to determine when a product of two principal symmetric ideals is principal symmetric and when all the powers of a principal symmetric ideal are again principal symmetric ideals. We characterize the ideals that have the latter property as being generated by polynomials invariant up to a scalar multiple under permutation of variables. Recognizing principal symmetric ideals is an open question for the purpose of which we produce certain obstructions. We also demonstrate that the Hilbert functions of symmetric monomial ideals are not all given by symmetric monomial ideals, in contrast to the non-symmetric case.

Abstract:Algebra Colloquium, Volume 31, Issue 04, Page 549-558, December 2024. We give some new characterizations of strongly one-sided [math]-invertibility of elements in rings, and establish the relations between one-sided [math]-inverses and strongly one-sided [math]-inverses. When [math], Kaplansky's theorem on the number of one-sided inverses is generalized to the case of strongly one-sided [math]-inverses. Moreover, we give some new characterizations of Dedekind-finite rings from the viewpoint of [math]-finiteness, and thus answer a question in [L. Wang, D. Mosić, The one-sided inverse along two elements in rings, Linear Multilinear Algebra 69 (13) (2021) 2410–2422].

Abstract:$\DeclareMathOperator{\Int}{Int} \DeclareMathOperator{\IntR}{Int{}^\text{R}} \newcommand{\Z}{\mathbb Z}$Let $D$ be a domain and let $\Int(D)$ and $\IntR(D)$ be the ring of integer-valued polynomials and the ring of integer-valued rational functions, respectively. Skolem proved that if $I$ is a finitely-generated ideal of $\Int(\Z)$ with all the value ideals of $I$ not being proper, then $I = \Int(\Z)$. This is known as the Skolem property, which does not hold in $\Z[x]$. One obstruction to $\Int(D)$ having the Skolem property is the existence of unit-valued polynomials. This is no longer an obstruction when we consider the Skolem property on $\IntR(D)$. We determine that the Skolem property on $\IntR(D)$ is equivalent to the maximal spectrum being contained in the ultrafilter closure of the set of maximal pointed ideals. We generalize the Skolem property using star operations and determine an analogous equivalence under this generalized notion.

Abstract:Braces are generalizations of radical rings, introduced by Rump to study involutive non-degenerate set-theoretical solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation (YBE). Skew braces were also recently introduced as a tool to study not necessarily involutive solutions. Roughly speaking, skew braces provide group-theoretical and ring-theoretical methods to understand solutions of the YBE. It turns out that skew braces appear in many different contexts, such as near-rings, matched pairs of groups, triply factorized groups, bijective 1-cocycles and Hopf-Galois extensions. These connections and some of their consequences are explored in this paper. We produce several new families of solutions related in many different ways with rings, near-rings and groups. We also study the solutions of the YBE that skew braces naturally produce. We prove, for example, that the order of the canonical solution associated with a finite skew brace is even: it is two times the exponent of the additive group modulo its center.

Abstract:For a ring $R$ with an automorphism $\sigma$, an $n$-additive mapping $\Delta:R\times R\times... \times R \rightarrow R$ is called a skew $n$-derivation with respect to $\sigma$ if it is always a $\sigma$-derivation of $R$ for each argument. Namely, it is always a $\sigma$-derivation of $R$ for the argument being left once $n-1$ arguments are fixed by $n-1$ elements in $R$. In this short note, starting from Brešar Theorems, we prove that a skew $n$-derivation ($n\geq 3$) on a semiprime ring $R$ must map into the center of $R$.
