Abstract:Let M be a noncompact complete Riemannian manifold. In this paper, we consider the following nonlinear parabolic equation on M u_t(x,t)=Δ u(x,t) + a u(x,t)ln u(x,t) + bu^α(x,t). We prove a Li–Yau type gradient estimate for positive solutions to the above equation; as an application, we also derive the corresponding Harnack inequality. These results generalize the corresponding ones proved by Li (J Funct Anal 100:233–256, 1991 ).

Abstract:In this paper, we use the Nash–Moser iteration method to study the local and global behaviors of positive solutions to the nonlinear elliptic equation defined on a complete Riemannian manifolds ( M , g ) where , a and q are constants and is the p -Laplace operator. Under some assumptions on a , p and q , we derive gradient estimates and Liouville type theorems for such positive solutions.

Abstract: In this paper, we derive a priori estimates for the gradient and second order derivatives of solutions to a class of Hessian type fully nonlinear parabolic equations with the first initial-boundary value problem on Riemannian manifolds. These a priori estimates are derived under conditions which are nearly optimal. Especially, there are no geometric restrictions on the boundary of the Riemannian manifolds. And as an application, the existence of smooth solutions to the first initial-boundary value problem even for infinity time is obtained.

Abstract:In this paper we study gradient estimates for the positive solutions of the porous medium equation: \documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$$u_t=\Delta u^m$$\end{document} where m>1, which is a nonlinear version of the heat equation. We derive local gradient estimates of the Li–Yau type for positive solutions of porous medium equations on Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. As applications, several parabolic Harnack inequalities are obtained. In particular, our results improve the ones of Lu, Ni, Vázquez, and Villani (in J. Math. Pures Appl. 91:1–19, 2009). Moreover, our results recover the ones of Davies (in Cambridge Tracts Math vol. 92, 1989), Hamilton (in Comm. Anal. Geom. 1:113–125, 1993) and Li and Xu (in Adv. Math. 226:4456–4491, 2011).

Abstract:We study a very general model of nonvariational elliptic equations of p -Laplacian type. We prove the W 1, q -estimates for each q > p regarding such a nonlinear elliptic equation in divergence form under the assumption that for each point and for each sufficiently small scale the nonlinearity is suitably close to a vector of the gradient in BMO space. In the same spirit our results can be easily extended to Orlicz spaces as well.

Abstract:The notion of exponentially harmonic maps was introduced by Eells and Lemaire (Proceedings of the Banach Center Semester on PDE, pp. 1990–1991, 1990). In this note, by using the maximum principle we get the gradient estimate of exponentially harmonic functions, and then derive a Liouville type theorem for bounded exponentially harmonic functions on a complete Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature and sectional curvature bounded below.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the gradient estimates on positive solutions to the following elliptic (Lichnerowicz) equation defined on a complete Riemannian manifold $(M,\,g)$: $$\Delta v + \mu v + a v^{p+1} +b v^{-q+1} =0,$$ where $p\geq-1$, $q\geq1$, $\mu$, $a$ and $b$ are real constants. In the case $\mu\geq0$ and $b\geq0$ or $\mu<0$ , $a>0$ and $b>0$ ($\mu$ has a lower bound), we employ the Nash-Moser iteration technique to obtain some refined gradient estimates of the solutions to the above equation, if $(M,\,g)$ satisfies $Ric \geq -(n-1)\kappa$ , where $n\geq3$ is the dimension of $M$ and $\kappa$ is a nonnegative constant, and $\mu$ , $a$ , $b$ , $p$ and $q$ satisfy some technique conditions. By the obtained gradient estimates we also derive some Liouville type theorems for the above equation under some suitable geometric and analysis conditions. As applications, we can derive some Cheng-Yau's type gradient estimates for solutions to the $n$-dimensional Einstein-scalar field Lichnerowicz equation where $n\geq3$.

Abstract:We study the Dirichlet problem of a class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations on Hermitian manifolds and derive a priori $C^2$ estimates which depend on the initial data on manifolds, the admissible subsolutions and the upper bound of the gradients of the solutions. In some special cases, we obtain the gradient estimates, and hence we can solve the corresponding Dirichlet problem with admissible subsolutions. We also study the Hessian quotient equations and $(m-1,m-1)$-Hessian quotient equations on compact Hermitian manifolds without boundary.
