Abstract:This research paper begins the presentation, with the topic of the distribution of primes in a short interval. The lower and upper limits for the number of primes within the interval are defined unambiguously. This provides us with a solid foundation, to resolve conclusively the Second Hardy-Littlewood ́s conjecture. The paper concludes with the Merit of a Prime Gap and the Second Harald Cramer ́s conjecture.

Abstract:This note discusses the existence of prime numbers in short intervals. An unconditional elementary argument seems to prove the existence of primes in the short intervals [x, x + y], where y >= x^(1/2)(log x)^e, e > 0, and a sufficiently large number x > 0. Further, an extension of Bertrand's postulate to arithmetic progressions will be considered

Abstract:Euler numbers appear from combinatorics and number theory.They play an important role in combinatorics,analytic number theory,function theory and theoretical physics.Divisibility of the Euler numbers is a basic subject in elementary number theory and combinatorial mathematics.In this paper,by using the class numbers of binary quadratic formula and the idea of Yuan,the divisibility of Euler numbers Et,where 2|m,t=2m/4 are studied and some results of Euler numbers module m are given.The prime divisors of some big Euler numbers E2n are given,and some problems and conjectures for Euler numbers are proposed.

Abstract:We give an outline of a generalization of the Gelfond-Schnirelmann method in elementary number theory. It is related to an integral of Selberg (1944) generalizing the Euler beta integral. The result we explain was obtained by Nair and Chudnovsky independently in the early eighties.

Abstract:This paper was written, apart from one technical correction, in July and August of 2013. The, then very recent, breakthrough of Y. Zhang [18] had revived in us an intention to produce a second edition of our book “Opera de Cribro”, one which would include an account of Zhang’s result, stressing the sieve aspects of the method. A complete and connected version of the proof, in our style but not intended for journal publication, seemed a natural first step in this project.Following the further spectacular advance given by J. Maynard (arXiv:1311. 4600, Nov 20, 2013), we have had to re-think our position. Maynard’s method, at least in its current form, proceeds from GPY in quite a different direction than does Zhang’s, and achieves numerically superior results. Consequently, although Zhang’s contribution to the distribution of primes in arithmetic progressions certainly retains its importance, the fact remains that much of the material in this paper would no longer appear in a new edition of our book. Because this paper contains some innovations that we do not wish to become lost, we have decided to make the work publicly available in its original format. We are extremely pleased to be able to include it in the current volume, commemorating the one hundred and twenty-fifth anninversary of the birth of Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Abstract:Many Dirichlet series of number theoretic interest can be written as a product of generating series $\zeta_{\,d,a}(s)=\prod\limits_{p\equiv a\pmod{d}}(1-p^{-s})^{-1}$, with $p$ ranging over all the primes in the primitive residue class modulo $a\pmod{d}$, and a function $H(s)$ well-behaved around $s=1$. In such a case the corresponding Euler constant can be expressed in terms of the Euler constants $\gamma(d,a)$ of the series $\zeta_{\,d,a}(s)$ involved and the (numerically more harmless) term $H'(1)/H(1)$. Here we systematically study $\gamma(d,a)$, their numerical evaluation and discuss some examples.

Abstract:Zhang has shown there are infinitely many intervals of bounded length containing two primes. It appears that the current techniques cannot prove that there are infinitely many intervals of bounded length containing three primes, even if strong conjectures such as the Elliott-Halberstam conjecture are assumed. We show that there are infinitely many intervals of length at most $10^8$ which contain two primes and a number with at most 31 prime factors.

Abstract:Let K be a finite Galois extension of <math>Q</math>. We count primes in short intervals represented by the norm of a prime ideal of K satisfying a small sector condition determined by Hecke characters. We also show that such primes are well-distributed in arithmetic progressions in the sense of Bombieri-Vinogradov. This extends previous work of Duke and Coleman.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to try to establish a generic model for the problem that several multivariable number-theoretic functions represent simultaneously primes for infinitely many integral points. More concretely, we introduced briefly the research background-the history and current situation-from Euclid's second theorem to Green-Tao theorem. We analyzed some equivalent necessary conditions that irreducible univariable polynomials with integral coefficients represent infinitely many primes, found new necessary conditions which perhaps imply that there are only finitely many Fermat primes, obtained an analogy of the Chinese Remainder Theorem, generalized Euler's function, the prime-counting function and Schinzel-Sierpinski's Conjecture and so on. Nevertheless, this is only a beginning and it miles to go. We hope that number theorists consider further it.

Abstract:The author sharpens a result of Jia (1996), showing that the interval $[n, n+n^{\frac{1}{21.5}+\varepsilon}]$ contains prime numbers for almost all $n$. Watt's mean value bound, a delicate sieve decomposition and more accurate estimates for integrals are used to good effect.

Abstract:A numerical study on the distributions of primes in short intervals of length $h$ over the natural numbers $N$ is presented. Based on Cram\'er's model in Number Theory, we obtain a heuristic expression applicable when $h \gg \log{N}$ but $h \ll N$, providing support to the Montgomery and Soundararajan conjecture on the variance of the prime distribution at this scale.

Abstract:While the prime numbers have been subject to mathematical inquiry since the ancient Greeks, the accumulated effort of understanding these numbers has - as Marcus du Sautoy recently phrased it - 'not revealed the origins of what makes the primes tick.' Here, we suggest that a resolution to this long-standing conundrum is attainable by defining the primes prior to the natural numbers - as opposed to the standard number theoretical definition of primes where these numbers derive from the natural numbers. The result is a first-principles perspective on the primes that exposes and explains the 'origins' of their distribution and their mathematical properties and provides an intuitive as well as pedagogical approach to the primes with the potential to impact our thinking about these age-old mathematical objects. A few immediate outcomes of this perspective are another proof of the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, a probabilistic model of primes sharing as well as explaining their subrandom correlation structure, and an equivalent formulation of the Riemann hypothesis.

Abstract:We relate Fubini's theorem for Euler characteristics to Riemann-Hurwtiz formulae, and reprove a classical result of Iversen. Abstract:We relate the Brasselet number of a complex analytic function-germ defined on a complex analytic set to the critical points of its real part on the regular locus of the link. Similarly we give a new characterization of the Euler obstruction in terms of the critical points on the regular part of the link of the projection on a generic real line. As a corollary, we obtain a new proof of the relation between the Euler obstruction and the Gauss–Bonnet measure, conjectured by Fu.
