Abstract:We develop a $\mathtt{q}$-analogue of the theory of conjugation equivariant $\mathcal D$-modules on a complex reductive group $G$. In particular, we define quantum Hotta-Kashiwara modules and compute their endomorphism algebras. We use the Schur-Weyl functor of the second author, and develop tools from the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra to study this category in the cases $G=GL_N$ and $SL_N$. Our results also have an interpretation in skein theory (explored further in a sequel paper), namely a computation of the $GL_N$ and $SL_N$-skein algebra of the 2-torus.

Abstract:We define quantum automorphisms and isomorphisms of Hadamard matrices. We show that every Hadamard matrix of size $N\ge 4$ has quantum symmetries and that all Hadamard matrices of a fixed size are mutually quantum isomorphic. These results pass also to the corresponding Hadamard graphs. We also define quantum Hadamard matrices acting on quantum spaces and bring an example thereof over matrix algebras.

Unitary Easy Quantum Groups Arising as Quantum Symmetries of Graph C*-algebras

Abstract:In 2009, T. Banica and R. Speicher introduced the orthogonal easy quantum group which can be completely determined using the combinatorics of set partitions. Later, P. Tarrago and M. Weber extended this formulation to another special class of compact matrix quantum groups, known as unitary easy quantum groups, which are quantum subgroups of the free unitary quantum group ($U_n^+$) containing $S_n$. On the other hand, the quantum symmetry of graph $C^{*}$-algebras has been explored by several mathematicians within different categories in the past few years. In this article, we establish that there are exactly three families of (identically) unitary easy quantum groups that can be achieved as the quantum symmetries of graph $C^*$-algebras $C^*(\Gamma)$ associated with some finite, connected, directed graphs $\Gamma$ in the category introduced by Joardar and Mandal. Moreover, we demonstrate that there does not exist any graph $C^*$-algebra associated with a finite, connected, directed graph $\Gamma$ having $A_{U^t}(F^{\Gamma})$ as the quantum automorphism group of $C^*(\Gamma)$ for non-scalar matrix $F^{\Gamma}$.

Quantum loop groups for symmetric Cartan matrices

Abstract:We introduce a quantum loop group associated to a general symmetric Cartan matrix, by imposing just enough relations between the usual generators $\{e_{i,k}, f_{i,k}\}_{i \in I, k \in \mathbb{Z}}$ in order for the natural Hopf pairing between the positive and negative halves of the quantum loop group to be perfect. As an application, we describe the localized K-theoretic Hall algebra of any quiver without loops, endowed with a particularly important $\mathbb{C}^*$ action.

Abstract:The theory of groups has a twofold symmetry, sending a group to its opposite. Groups invariant under the symmetry are abelian. The theory of quasigroups has a richer, sixfold symmetry, obtained by permuting the multiplication with its two divisions. The Sixfold Way identifies the various classes of quasigroups which are invariant under the respective subgroups of the symmetry group of the theory. Quantum quasigroups provide a self-dual framework to unify the study of quasigroups and Hopf algebras. The goal of this paper is to classify the symmetry classes of quantum quasigroups. Corresponding to the Sixfold Way for classical quasigroups, we are able to identify a Sevenfold Way for general classes exhibiting a symmetry, and initiate a study of a fuller symmetry which holds for linear quantum quasigroups.

Quantum Cellular Automata on Symmetric Subalgebras

Abstract:We investigate quantum cellular automata (QCA) on one-dimensional spin systems defined over a subalgebra of the full local operator algebra - the symmetric subalgebra under a finite Abelian group symmetry $G$. For systems where each site carries a regular representation of $G$, we establish a complete classification of such subalgebra QCAs based on two topological invariants: (1) a surjective homomorphism from the group of subalgebra QCAs to the group of anyon permutation symmetries in a $(2+1)d$ $G$ gauge theory; and (2) a generalization of the Gross-Nesme-Vogts-Werner (GNVW) index that characterizes the flow of the symmetric subalgebra. Specifically, two subalgebra QCAs correspond to the same anyon permutation and share the same index if and only if they differ by a finite-depth unitary circuit composed of $G$-symmetric local gates. We also identify a set of operations that generate all subalgebra QCAs through finite compositions. As an example, we examine the Kramers-Wannier duality on a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetric subalgebra, demonstrating that it maps to the $e$-$m$ permutation in the two-dimensional toric code and has an irrational index of $\sqrt{2}$. Therefore, it cannot be extended to a QCA over the full local operator algebra and mixes nontrivially with lattice translations.

Quantum Algorithms for Simon's Problem Over General Groups

Abstract:Daniel Simon's 1994 discovery of an efficient quantum algorithm for solving the hidden subgroup problem (HSP) over Z_2^n provided one of the first algebraic problems for which quantum computers are exponentially faster than their classical counterparts. In this paper, we study the generalization of Simon's problem to arbitrary groups. Fixing a finite group G, this is the problem of recovering an involution m = (m_1, ..., m_n) in G^n from an oracle f with the property that f(x) = f(xy) iff y equals m or the identity. In the current parlance, this is the hidden subgroup problem (HSP) over groups of the form G^n, where G is a nonabelian group of constant size, and where the hidden subgroup is either trivial or has order two. Although groups of the form G^n have a simple product structure, they share important representation-theoretic properties with the symmetric groups S_n, where a solution to the HSP would yield a quantum algorithm for Graph Isomorphism. In particular, solving their HSP with the so-called ``standard method'' requires highly entangled measurements on the tensor product of many coset states. Here we give quantum algorithms with time complexity 2^O(sqrt(n log n)) that recover hidden involutions m = (m_1, ..., m_n) in G^n where, as in Simon's problem, each m_i is either the identity or the conjugate of a known element k, and there is a character X of G for which X(k) = -X(1)$. Our approach combines the general idea behind Kuperberg's sieve for dihedral groups with the ``missing harmonic'' approach of Moore and Russell. These are the first nontrivial hidden subgroup algorithms for group families that require highly entangled multiregister Fourier sampling.

Representation theory of very non-standard quantum $so(2N-1)$

Abstract:We classify the finite dimensional representations of the quantum symmetric pair coideal subalgebra $B_{\mathbf c}$ of type $DII$ corresponding to the symmetric pair $(so(2N),so(2N-1))$. For $B_{\mathbf c}$ defined over an arbitrary field $k$ and $q\in k$ not a root of unity we establish a one-to-one correspondence between finite dimensional, simple $B_{\mathbf c}$-modules and dominant integral weights for $so(2N-1)$. We use specialisation to show that the category of finite dimensional $B_{\mathbf c}$-modules is semisimple if $\mathrm{char}(k)=0$ and $q$ is transcendental over ${\mathbb Q}$. In this case the characters of simple $B_{\mathbf c}$-modules are given by Weyl's character formula. This means in particular that the quantum symmetric pair of type $DII$ can be used to obtain Gelfand-Tsetlin bases for irreducible representations of the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum group $U_q(so(2N))$.

Rigidity on Quantum Symmetry for a Certain Class of Graph C*-algebras

Abstract:Quantum symmetry of graph $C^{*}$-algebras has been studied, under the consideration of different formulations, in the past few years. It is already known that the compact quantum group $(\underbrace{C(S^{1})*C(S^{1})*\cdots *C(S^{1})}_{|E(\Gamma)|-times}, \Delta) $ always acts on a graph $C^*$-algebra for a finite, connected, directed graph $\Gamma$ in the category introduced by Joardar and Mandal, where $|E(\Gamma)|:=$ number of edges in $\Gamma$. In this article, we show that for a certain class of graphs including Toeplitz algebra, quantum odd sphere, matrix algebra etc. the quantum symmetry of their associated graph $C^*$-algebras remains $(\underbrace{C(S^{1})*C(S^{1})*\cdots *C(S^{1})}_{|E(\Gamma)|-times}, \Delta) $ in the category as mentioned before. More precisely, if a finite, connected, directed graph $\Gamma$ satisfies the following graph theoretic properties : (i) there does not exist any cycle of length $\geq$ 2 (ii) there exists a path of length $(|V(\Gamma)|-1)$ which consists all the vertices, where $|V(\Gamma)|:=$ number of vertices in $\Gamma$ (iii) given any two vertices (may not be distinct) there exists at most one edge joining them, then the universal object coincides with $(\underbrace{C(S^{1})*C(S^{1})*\cdots *C(S^{1})}_{|E(\Gamma)|-times}, \Delta) $. Furthermore, we have pointed out a few counter examples whenever the above assumptions are violated.

Isometric actions of compact quantum groups on graph C*-algebras

Abstract:For a strongly connected directed graph $\Lambda$, it is shown that the quantum automorphism group of $\Lambda$ acts isometrically in the sense of D. Goswami et al. on the spectral triple $(C^{\ast}(\Lambda), L^{2}(\Lambda^{\infty},M),D)$ constructed by Farsi et al.. It is also shown that the natural action of $U_{n}^{+}$ is not isometric on the Cuntz algebra $\mathcal{O}_{n}$.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a simple complex Lie algebra of a classical type and $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ the corresponding Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum group at $q$ not a root of unity. With every point $t$ of the fixed maximal torus $T$ of an algebraic group $G$ with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ we associate an additive category $\mathcal{O}_q(t)$ of $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$-modules that is stable under tensor product with finite-dimensional quasi-classical $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$-modules. We prove that $\mathcal{O}_q(t)$ is essentially semi-simple and use it to explicitly quantize equivariant vector bundles on the conjugacy class of $t$.

Abstract:The intrinsic symmetries of physical systems have been employed to reduce the number of degrees of freedom of systems, thereby simplifying computations. In this work, we investigate the properties of $\mathcal{M}SU(2^N)$, $\mathcal{M}$-invariant subspaces of the special unitary Lie group $SU(2^N)$ acting on $N$ qubits, for some $\mathcal{M}\subseteq M_{2^N}(\mathbb{C})$. We demonstrate that for certain choices of $\mathcal{M}$, the subset $\mathcal{M}SU(2^N)$ inherits many topological and group properties from $SU(2^N)$. We then present a combinatorial method for computing the dimension of such subspaces when $\mathcal{M}$ is a representation of a permutation group acting on qubits $(GSU(2^N))$, or a Hamiltonian $(H^{(N)}SU(2^N))$. The Kronecker product of $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ matrices is employed to construct the Lie algebras associated with different permutation-invariant groups $GSU(2^N)$. Numerical results on the number of dimensions support the the developed theory.

Abstract:Consider the compact quantum group $U_q(2)$, where $q$ is a non-zero complex deformation parameter such that $|q|\neq 1$. Let $C(U_q(2))$ denote the underlying $C^*$-algebra of the compact quantum group $U_q(2)$. We prove that if $q$ is a non-real complex number and $q^\prime$ is real, then the underlying $C^*$-algebras $C(U_q(2))$ and $C(U_{q^\prime}(2))$ are non-isomorphic. This is in sharp contrast with the case of braided $SU_q(2)$, introduced earlier by Woronowicz et al., where $q$ is a non-zero complex deformation parameter. In another direction, on a geometric aspect of $U_q(2)$, we introduce torus action on the $C^*$-algebra $C(U_q(2))$ and obtain a $C^*$-dynamical system $(C(U_q(2)),\mathbb{T}^3,\alpha)$. We construct a $\mathbb{T}^3$-equivariant spectral triple for $U_q(2)$ that is even and $3^+$-summable. It is shown that the Dirac operator is K-homologically nontrivial.

Abstract:A construction of the noncommutative-geometric counterparts of classical classifying spaces is presented, for general compact matrix quantum structure groups. A quantum analogue of the classical concept of the classifying map is introduced and analyzed. Interrelations with the abstract algebraic theory of quantum characteristic classes are discussed. Various non-equivalent approaches to defining universal characteristic classes are outlined.

A quantization of the big cell is suggested by means of introducing a ∗-algebra generated by holomorphic coordinate functions. Abstract:As a natural generalization of ordinary Lie algebras we introduce the concept of quantum Lie algebras . We define these in terms of certain adjoint submodules of quantized enveloping algebras endowed with a quantum Lie bracket given by the quantum adjoint action. The structure constants of these algebras depend on the quantum deformation parameter q and they go over into the usual Lie algebras when q = 1. The notions of q-conjugation and q-linearity are introduced. q-linear analogues of the classical antipode and Cartan involution are defined and a generalized Killing form, q-linear in the first entry and linear in the second, is obtained. These structures allow the derivation of symmetries between the structure constants of quantum Lie algebras. The explicitly worked out examples of and illustrate the results.
