Abstract:We give a combinatorial description of the dg category of character sheaves on a complex reductive group $G$, extending results of [Li] for $G$ simply-connected. We also explicitly identify the parabolic induction/restriction functors.

Abstract:We prove that on a "generic locus" of the equivariant derived category of constructible sheaves, positive-depth parabolic induction is a $t$-exact equivalence of categories. Iterating this with respect to sequences of generic data allows us to take as input an arbitrary character sheaf on a connected algebraic group and output a family of positive-depth character sheaves on parahoric group schemes. In the simplest interesting setting, our construction produces a simple perverse sheaf associated to a sufficiently nontrivial multiplicative local system on a torus, resolving a conjecture of Lusztig. We prove, under a mild condition on $q$, that this realizes the character of the representation arising from the associated parahoric Deligne--Lusztig induction.

Abstract:Let G be a connected reductive group, P its parabolic subgroup. We consider the parabolic semi-infinite category of sheaves on the affine Grassmanian of G and construct the parabolic version of the semi-infinite IC-sheaf of each orbit. We establish some of its properties and relate it to sheaves on the Drinfeld compactification of the moduli stack Bun_P of P-torsors on a curve. We also relate the parabolic semi-infinite IC-sheaf with the dual baby Verma object on the spectral side.

Abstract:Let G be a real reductive group, and let chi be a character of a reductive subgroup H of G. We construct chi-invariant linear functionals on certain cohomologically induced representations of G, and we show that these linear functionals do not vanish on the bottom layers. Applying this construction, we prove two Archimedean nonvanishing hypotheses which are vital to the arithmetic study of special values of certain L-functions via modular symbols.

Abstract:We prove that the adjoint equivariant derived category of a reductive group $G$ is equivalent to the appropriately defined monoidal center of the torus-equivariant version of the Hecke category. We use this to give new proofs, independent of sheaf-theoretic set up, of the fact that the Drinfeld center of the abelian Hecke category is equivalent to the abelian category of unipotent character sheaves; and of a characterization of strongly-central sheaves on the torus.

Abstract:We study the intermediate extension of the character sheaves on an adjoint group to the semi-stable locus of its wonderful compactification. We show that the intermediate extension can be described by a direct image construction. As a consequence, we show that the “ordinary” restriction of a character sheaf on the compactification to a “semi-stable stratum” is a shift of semisimple perverse sheaf and is closely related to Lusztig's restriction functor (from a character sheaf on a reductive group to a direct sum of character sheaves on a Levi subgroup). We also provide a (conjectural) formula for the boundary values inside the semi-stable locus of an irreducible character of a finite group of Lie type, which gives a partial answer to a question of Springer (2006) [21]. This formula holds for Steinberg character and characters coming from generic character sheaves. In the end, we verify Lusztig's conjecture Lusztig (2004) [16, 12.6] inside the semi-stable locus of the wonderful compactification.

Abstract:The purpose of this work is to provide details about the construction of the Chern character for categorical sheaves mentioned in our previous work "Chern character, loop spaces and derived algebraic geometry". For this, we introduce and study the notion of rigid symmetric monoidal \infty-category. We show how trace maps can be constructed in this higher categorical setting, and using a recent work of Hopkins-Lurie we prove the existence of a "cyclic trace", which is the main ingredient in the construction of the Chern character. Our Chern character is then constructed for any pair (T,A), consisting of a \infty-topos T and a stack of rigid symmetric monoidal \infty-categories A on T. We propose two main applications of this construction. First of all, we show how to recover the Chern character of perfect complexes on schemes, with values in cyclic homology, and show how it can be extended to an interesting new Chern character for Artin stacks. Our second application provides invariants of famillies of dg-categories. A consequence of the existence of these invariants is the construction of a Gauss-Manin connexion on the cyclic homology complex of such a familly, generalizing previous constructions by Getzler and of Dolgushev-Tamarkin-Tsygan. Another consequence is the construction of the "character sheaf" associated to a representation of an algebraic group into a dg-category, which is a categorification of the character function of a linear representation. Finally, for a familly of saturated dg-categories we construct a "secondary Chern character", taking values in a new cohomology theory called "secondary cyclic homology".

Abstract:We prove a microlocal characterisation of character sheaves on a reductive Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of sufficiently large positive characteristic: a perverse irreducible G-equivariant sheaf is a character sheaf if and only if it has nilpotent singular support and is quasi-admissible. We also present geometric proofs, in positive characteristic, of the equivalence between being admissible and being a character sheaf, and various characterisations of cuspidal sheaves, following the work of Mirković.

Abstract:In this paper we extend Beilinson's realization formalism for triangulated categories and filtered triangulated categories to a pseudofunctorial and pseudonatural setting. As a consequence we prove an equivariant version of Beilinson's Theorem: for any algebraic group $G$ over an algebraically closed field $K$ and for any $G$-variety $X$, there is an equivalence of categories $D_G^b(X; \overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}) \simeq D_G^b(\mathbf{Perv}(X;\overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}))$ where $\ell$ is an integer prime coprime to the characteristic of $K$. We also show that the equivariant analogues of the other non-$D$-module aspects of Beilinson's Theorem hold in the equivariant case.

Abstract:For an exact dg category $\mathcal A$, we introduce its bounded dg derived category $\mathcal{D}^b_{dg}(\mathcal A)$ and establish the universal exact morphism from $\mathcal A$ to $\mathcal{D}^b_{dg}(\mathcal A)$. We prove that the dg quotient of an exact dg category by a subcategory of projective-injectives carries a canonical exact structure. We show that exact dg categories reproduce under tensor products and functor dg categories. We apply our results to 0-Auslander extriangulated categories and confirm a conjecture by Fang-Gorsky-Palu-Plamondon-Pressland for the algebraic case.

Abstract:For a connected reductive group G and an affine smooth G-variety X over the complex numbers, the localization functor takes g-modules to D-X-modules. We extend this construction to an equivariant and derived setting using the formalism of h-complexes due to Beilinson-Ginzburg, and show that the localizations of Harish-Chandra (g, K)-modules onto X = H\G have regular holonomic cohomologies when H, K subset of G are both spherical reductive subgroups. The relative Lie algebra homologies and Ext-branching spaces for (g, K)-modules are interpreted geometrically in terms of equivariant derived localizations. As direct consequences, we show that they are finite-dimensional under the same assumptions, and relate Euler-Poincare characteristics to local index theorem; this recovers parts of the recent results of M. Kitagawa. Examples and discussions on the relation to Schwartz homologies are also included.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a quasi DG category, generalizing that of a DG category. To a quasi DG category satisfying certain additional conditions, we associate another quasi DG category, the quasi DG category of $C$-diagrams. We then show the homotopy category of the quasi DG category of $C$-diagrams has the structure of a triangulated category. This procedure is then applied to produce a triangulated category of mixed motives over a base variety.

The model is then used to count the number of $d$-term silting objects for linearly oriented $A_n$, recovering the result that they are counted by the Pfaff-Fuss-Catalan numbers.

Abstract:We show how to get explicit induction formulae for finite group representations, and more generally for rational Green functors, by summing a divergent series over Dwyer's subgroup and centralizer decomposition spaces. This results in formulae with rational coefficients. The former space yields a well-known induction formula, the latter yields a new one. As essentially immediate corollaries of the existing literature, we get similar formulae in group cohomology and stable splittings of classifying spaces.

Abstract:Using a geometric argument building on our new theory of graded sheaves, we compute the categorical trace and Drinfel'd center of the (graded) finite Hecke category $\mathsf{H}_W^\mathsf{gr} = \mathsf{Ch}^b(\mathsf{SBim}_W)$ in terms of the category of (graded) unipotent character sheaves, upgrading results of Ben-Zvi-Nadler and Bezrukavninov-Finkelberg-Ostrik. In type $A$, we relate the categorical trace to the category of $2$-periodic coherent sheaves on the Hilbert schemes $\mathsf{Hilb}_n(\mathbb{C}^2)$ of points on $\mathbb{C}^2$ (equivariant with respect to the natural $\mathbb{C}^* \times \mathbb{C}^*$ action), yielding a proof of a conjecture of Gorsky-Negut-Rasmussen which relates HOMFLY-PT link homology and the spaces of global sections of certain coherent sheaves on $\mathsf{Hilb}_n(\mathbb{C}^2)$. As an important computational input, we also establish a conjecture of Gorsky-Hogancamp-Wedrich on the formality of the Hochschild homology of $\mathsf{H}_W^\mathsf{gr}$.

Abstract:We show that the category of ind-coherent sheaves on a quasi-smooth scheme is naturally tensored over the category of sheared D-modules on its shifted cotangent bundle, commuting with its natural action of categorified Hoschschild cochains. We prove that it defines a Morita equivalence as such. We then extend these results to quasi-smooth Artin stacks. As a consequence of our formalism, we are able to articulate a precise sense in which the space of unramified automorphic functions over a function field localizes over the stack of arithmetic Arthur parameters.
