Abstract:For a skew-symmetrizable cluster algebra ${\mathcal{A}}_{t_{0}}$ with principal coefficients at $t_{0}$, we prove that each seed $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F4}_{t}$ of ${\mathcal{A}}_{t_{0}}$ is uniquely determined by its $C$-matrix, which was proposed by Fomin and Zelevinsky (Compos. Math. 143 (2007), 112–164) as a conjecture. Our proof is based on the fact that the positivity of cluster variables and sign coherence of $c$-vectors hold for ${\mathcal{A}}_{t_{0}}$, which was actually verified in Gross et al. (Canonical bases for cluster algebras, J. Amer. Math. Soc. 31(2) (2018), 497–608). Further discussion is provided in the sign-skew-symmetric case so as to obtain a weak version of the conjecture in this general case.

Abstract:We prove a duality formula between two elliptic determinants. We present a proof which is a variant of the Izergin-Korepin method which is a method originally introduced to analyze and compute partition functions of integrable lattice models.

Decomplexification of the Capelli identities and holomorphic factorization

Abstract:The Capelli identities claim $det(A)det(B) = det(AB+correction)$ for certain matrices with noncommutative entries. They have applications in representation theory and integrable systems. We propose new examples of these identities, constructed according to the following principle. For several known identities for $n$ by $n$ matrices we construct new identity for $2n$ by $2n$ matrices where each element $z$ of the original matrix is substituted by 2x2 matrix of the form $[real(z) ~imag(z); ~ -imag(z) ~ real(z)]$, i.e. we view the original identity as complex valued, while the new identity is its real form (decomplexification). It appears that "decomplexification" affects non-trivially the "correction term". It becomes tridiagonal matrix, in contrast to the diagonal in the classical case. The key result is an extension to the non-commutative setting of the fact that the determinant of the decomplexified matrix is equal to the square module of the determinant of the original matrix (in non-commutative setting the corrections are necessary). The decomplexified Capelli's identities are corollaries of this fact and standard Capelli identities. We also discuss analogs of the Cayley identity; observe that the Capelli determinant coincides with the Duflo image of the standard determinant; give short proof of the Cayley identity via Harish-Chandra's radial part calculation. The main motivation for us is a recent paper by An Huang (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1102.2657" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1102.2657">arXiv:1102.2657</a>). From our viewpoint his result is a "dequaternionification" of 1 by 1 Capelli identity. Apparently it can be extended to $n$ by $n$ case, but our approach should be somehow modified for this. The paper aims to be accessible and interesting not only for experts. It gives brief review of Capelli identities, applications, their relation with Wick quantization, Duflo map, some open issues, etc.

Abstract:Multidimensional matrix inversions provide a powerful tool for studying multiple hypergeometric series. In order to extend this technique to elliptic hypergeometric series, we present three new multidimensional matrix inversions. As applications, we obtain a new $A_r$ elliptic Jackson summation, as well as several quadratic, cubic and quartic summation formulas.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{K}$ denote a field and let $\mathfrak{X}$ denote a finite non-empty set. Let $\text{Mat}_\mathfrak{X}(\mathbb{K})$ denote the $\mathbb{K}$-algebra consisting of the matrices with entries in $\mathbb{K}$ and rows and columns indexed by $\mathfrak{X}$. A matrix $C \in \text{Mat}_\mathfrak{X}(\mathbb{K})$ is called Cauchy whenever there exist mutually distinct scalars $\{x_i\}_{i \in \mathfrak{X}}, \{\tilde{x}_i\}_{i \in \mathfrak{X}}$ from $\mathbb{K}$ such that $C_{ij} = (x_i - \tilde{x}_j)^{-1}$ for $i, j \in \mathfrak{X}$. In this paper, we give a linear algebraic characterization of a Cauchy matrix. To do so, we introduce the notion of a Cauchy pair. A Cauchy pair is an ordered pair of diagonalizable linear transformations $(X, \tilde{X})$ on a finite-dimensional vector space $V$ such that $X-\tilde{X}$ has rank 1 and such that there does not exist a proper subspace $W$ of $V$ such that $X W \subseteq W$ and $\tilde{X} W \subseteq W$. Let $V$ denote a vector space over $\mathbb{K}$ with dimension $|\mathfrak{X}|$. We show that for every Cauchy pair $(X, \tilde{X})$ on $V$, there exists an $X$-eigenbasis $\{v_i\}_{i \in \mathfrak{X}}$ for $V$ and an $\tilde{X}$-eigenbasis $\{w_i\}_{i \in \mathfrak{X}}$ for $V$ such that the transition matrix from $\{v_i\}_{i \in \mathfrak{X}}$ to $\{w_i\}_{i \in \mathfrak{X}}$ is Cauchy. We show that every Cauchy matrix arises as a transition matrix for a Cauchy pair in this way. We give a bijection between the set of equivalence classes of Cauchy pairs on $V$ and the set of permutation equivalence classes of Cauchy matrices in $\text{Mat}_\mathfrak{X}(\mathbb{K})$.

Abstract:The celebrated Cauchy identity expresses the product of terms $(1 - x_i y_j)^{-1}$ for $(i,j)$ indexing entries of a rectangular $m\times n$-matrix as a sum over partitions $\lambda$ of products of Schur polynomials: $s_{\lambda}(x)s_{\lambda}(y)$. Algebraically, this identity comes from the decomposition of the symmetric algebra of the space of rectangular matrices, considered as a $\mathfrak{gl}_m$-$\mathfrak{gl}_n$-bi-module. We generalize the Cauchy decomposition by replacing rectangular matrices with arbitrary staircase-shaped matrices equipped with the left and right actions of the Borel upper-triangular subalgebras. For any given staircase shape $\mathsf{Y}$ we describe left and right "standard" filtrations on the symmetric algebra of the space of shape $\mathsf{Y}$ matrices. We show that the subquotients of these filtrations are tensor products of Demazure and van der Kallen modules over the Borel subalgebras. On the level of characters, we derive three distinct expansions for the product $(1 - x_i y_j)^{-1}$ for $(i,j) \in \mathsf{Y}$. The first two expansions are sums of products of key polynomials $\kappa_\lambda(x)$ and Demazure atoms $a_{\mu}(y)$. The third expansion is an alternating sum of products of key polynomials $\kappa_{\lambda}(x)\,\kappa_{\mu}(y)$.

Abstract:Matrix theory is essential for addressing practical problems and executing computational tasks. Matrices related to Hermite polynomials are essential due to their applications in quantum mechanics, numerical analysis, probability, and signal processing. Their orthogonality, recurrence relations, and spectral properties make them a valuable tool for both theoretical research and practical applications. From a different perspective, we introduced a variant of the Hermite matrix that incorporates triple factorials and demonstrated that this matrix satisfies various properties. By utilizing effective matrix algebra techniques, various algebraic properties of this matrix have been determined, including the product formula, inverse matrix and eigenvalues. Additionally, we extended this matrix to a more generalized form and derived several identities.

On Elliptical and Inverse Elliptical Wishart distributions

Abstract:This paper deals with the Elliptical Wishart and Inverse Elliptical Wishart distributions, which play a major role when handling covariance matrices. Similarly to multivariate elliptical distributions, these form a large family of covariance distributions, encompassing, e.g., the Wishart or \textit{t}-Wishart ones. Our first major contribution is to derive a stochastic representation for Elliptical Wishart and Inverse Elliptical Wishart matrices. This later enables us to obtain various key statistical properties of Elliptical Wishart and Inverse Elliptical Wishart distributions such as expectations, variances, and Kronecker moments up to any orders. The stochastic representation also allows us to provide an efficient method to generate random matrices from Elliptical Wishart and Inverse Elliptical Wishart distributions. Finally, the practical interest of Elliptical Wishart distributions - in particular the \textit{t}-Wishart one - is demonstrated through a fitting experiment on real electroencephalographic data. This showcases their effectiveness in accurately modeling real covariance matrices.

Based on the canonical diagonal form, the moment generating function of sample covariance matrix and the distribution of latent roots are explicitly calculated. We also discuss the connections between matrix normal distributions, elliptic distributions, and their relevance to multivariate analysis and matrix variate distributions.

Abstract:Let an n×n complex matrix A be such that I+A is invertible. The Cayley transform of A , denoted by C(A) , is defined as C(A)=(I+A)−1(I−A). Fallat et al. (Electron. J. Linear Algebra, 9:190-196, 2002) and Mondal et al. (Linear Algebra Appl., 681:1–20, 2024) studied the Cayley transform of a matrix A in the context of P-matrices, H-matrices, M-matrices, totally positive matrices, positive definite matrices, almost skew-Hermitian matrices, and semipositive matrices. In this paper, the investigation of the Cayley transform is continued for Toeplitz matrices, circulant matrices, unipotent matrices, and dual matrices. An expression of the Cayley transform for dual matrices is established. It is shown that the Cayley transform of a dual symmetric matrix is always a dual symmetric matrix. The Cayley transform of a dual skew-symmetric matrix is discussed. The results are illustrated with examples.

Abstract:By using the notion of a quantum double we introduce analogs of partial derivatives on a Reflection Equation algebra, associated with a Hecke symmetry of GL(N) type. We construct the matrix L=MD, where M is the generating matrix of the Reflection Equation algebra and D is the matrix composed of the quantum partial derivatives and prove that the matrices M, D and L satisfy a matrix identity, called the matrix Capelli one. Upon applying the quantum trace, it becomes a scalar relation, which is a far-reaching generalization of the classical Capelli identity. Abstract:We consider tridiagonal matrices (aij)i,j=1n with constant main diagonal and such that ai,i+1ai+1,i=1 for i=1,...,n−1 . For these matrices, criteria are established under which their Kippenhahn curves contain elliptical components or even consist completely of such. These criteria are in terms of a system of homogeneous polynomial equations in variables (|aj,j+1|−|aj+1,j|)2 , and established via a unified approach across arbitrary dimensions. The results are illustrated, and specific numerical examples are provided for n = 7, thus generalizing earlier work in the lower-dimensional setting.

Abstract:Since the study by Jacobi and Hecke, Hecke-type series have received a lot of attention. Unlike such series associated with indefinite quadratic forms, identities on Hecke-type series associated with definite quadratic forms are quite rare in the literature. Motivated by the works of Liu, we first establish many parameterized identities with two parameters by employing different $q$-transformation formulas and then deduce various Hecke-type identities associated with definite quadratic forms by specializing the choice of these two parameters. As applications, we utilize some of these Hecke-type identities to establish families of inequalities for several partition functions. Our proofs heavily rely on some formulas from the work of Zhi-Guo Liu.
