Abstract:The parametric representation has been used since a long time for the evaluation of Feynman diagrams. As a dimension independent intermediate representation, it allows a clear description of singularities. Recently, it has become a choice tool for the investigation of the type of transcendent numbers appearing in the evaluation of Feynman diagrams. The inclusion of numerators has however stagnated since the ground work of Nakanishi. I here show how to greatly simplify the formulas through the use of Dodgson identities.

Abstract:The author gives the full list of his conjectures on series for powers ofπ and other important constants scattered in some of his public papers orhis private diaries. The list contains 234 reasonable conjectural series. Abstract:Via symbolic computation we deduce 97 new type series for powers of $ \pi $ related to Ramanujan-type series. Here are three typical examples: $ \sum\limits_{k = 0}^\infty\frac{P(k)\binom{2k}k\binom{3k}k\binom{6k}{3k}}{(k+1)(2k-1)(6k-1)(-640320)^{3k}} = \frac{18\times557403^3\sqrt{10005}}{5\pi} $ with $ \begin{align*} P(k) = &637379600041024803108 k^2 + 657229991696087780968 k \\&+ 19850391655004126179, \end{align*} $ $ \sum\limits_{k = 1}^\infty \frac{(3k+1)16^k}{(2k+1)^2k^3 \binom{2k}k^3} = \frac{\pi^2-8}2, $ and $ \sum\limits_{n = 0}^\infty\frac{3n+1}{(-100)^n}\sum\limits_{k = 0}^n{n\choose k}^2T_k(1,25)T_{n-k}(1,25) = \frac{25}{8\pi}, $ where the generalized central trinomial coefficient $ T_k(b,c) $ denotes the coefficient of $ x^k $ in the expansion of $ (x^2+bx+c)^k $. We also formulate a general characterization of rational Ramanujan-type series for $ 1/\pi $ via congruences, and pose 117 new conjectural series for powers of $ \pi $ via looking for corresponding congruences. For example, we conjecture that $ \sum\limits_{k = 0}^\infty\frac{39480k+7321}{(-29700)^k}T_k(14,1)T_k(11,-11)^2 = \frac{6795\sqrt5}{\pi}. $ Eighteen of the new series in this paper involve some imaginary quadratic fields with class number $ 8 $.
Cubic approximation to Sturmian continued fractions

Abstract:We determine the classical approximation constants $w_{3}(\zeta),w_{3}^{\ast}(\zeta),\lambda_{3}(\zeta)$ such as the uniform constants $\widehat{w}_{3}(\zeta),\widehat{w}_{3}^{\ast}(\zeta),\widehat{\lambda}_{3}(\zeta)$ associated to real numbers $\zeta$ whose continued fraction expansions are given by a Sturmian word. We more generally provide a description of the combined graph of the parametric successive minima functions defined by Schmidt and Summerer in dimension three for such Sturmian continued fractions. This both complements similar results due to Bugeaud and Laurent concerning the two-dimensional constants and generalizes a recent result of the author. As a side result we obtain new information on the spectra of certain exponents of approximation. Moreover, we provide some information on the exponents $\lambda_{n}(\zeta)$ for a Sturmian continued fraction $\zeta$ and arbitrary $n$.

Hyperelliptic Continued Fractions and Generalized Jacobians

Abstract:For a complex polynomial $D(t)$ of even degree, one may define the continued fraction of $\sqrt{D(t)}$. This was found relevant already by Abel in 1826, and later by Chebyshev, concerning integration of (hyperelliptic) differentials; they realized that, contrary to the classical case of square roots of positive integers treated by Lagrange and Galois, we do not always have pre-periodicity of the partial quotients. In this paper we shall prove that, however, a correct analogue of Lagrange's theorem still exists in full generality: pre-periodicity of the {\it degrees} of the partial quotients always holds. Apparently, this fact was never noted before. This also yields a corresponding formula for the degrees of the convergents, for which we shall prove new bounds which are generally best possible (halving the known ones). We shall further study other aspects of the continued fraction, like the growth of the heights of partial quotients. Throughout, some striking phenomena appear, related to the geometry of (generalized) Hyperelliptic Jacobians. Another conclusion central in this paper concerns the poles of the convergents: there can be only finitely many rational ones which occur infinitely many times. (This is crucial for applications to a function field version of a question of McMullen.) Our methods rely, among other things, on linking Padé approximants and convergents with divisor relations in generalized Jacobians; this shall allow an application of a version for algebraic groups, proved in this paper, of the Skolem-Mahler-Lech theorem.

Abstract:Plouffe conjectured rapidly converging series formulas for $\pi^{2n+1}$ and $\zeta (2n+1)$ for small values of $n$. We find the general pattern for all nonnegative integer values of $n$ and offer a proof.

Abstract:We explain in detail how to accelerate continued fractions (for constants as well as for functions) using the method used by R.~Apéry in his proof of the irrationality of $\zeta(3)$. We show in particular that this can be applied to a large number of continued fractions which can be found in the literature, thus providing a large number of new continued fractions. As examples, we give a new continued fraction for $\log(2)$ and for $\zeta(3)$, as well as a simple proof of one due to Ramanujan.

Abstract:Multidimensional Continued Fraction Algorithms are generalizations of the Euclid algorithm and find iteratively the gcd of two or more numbers. They are defined as linear applications on some subcone of $\mathbb{R}^d$. We consider multidimensional continued fraction algorithms that acts symmetrically on the positive cone $\mathbb{R}^d_+$ for $d=3$. We include well-known and old ones (Poincaré, Brun, Selmer, Fully Subtractive) and new ones (Arnoux-Rauzy-Poincaré, Reverse, Cassaigne). For each algorithm, one page (called cheat sheet) gathers a handful of informations most of them generated with the open source software Sage with the optional Sage package \texttt{<a class="link-external link-http" href="http://slabbe-0.2.spkg" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>}. The information includes the $n$-cylinders, density function of an absolutely continuous invariant measure, domain of the natural extension, lyapunov exponents as well as data regarding combinatorics on words, symbolic dynamics and digital geometry, that is, associated substitutions, generated $S$-adic systems, factor complexity, discrepancy, dual substitutions and generation of digital planes. The document ends with a table of comparison of Lyapunov exponents and gives the code allowing to reproduce any of the results or figures appearing in these cheat sheets.

On $p$-refined Friedberg-Jacquet integrals and the classical symplectic locus in the $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}$ eigenvariety

Abstract:Friedberg--Jacquet proved that if $\pi$ is a cuspidal automorphic representation of $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb{A})$, $\pi$ is a functorial transfer from $\mathrm{GSpin}_{2n+1}$ if and only if a global zeta integral $Z_H$ over $H = \mathrm{GL}_n \times \mathrm{GL}_n$ is non-vanishing on $\pi$. We conjecture a $p$-refined analogue: that any $P$-parahoric $p$-refinement $\tilde\pi^P$ is a functorial transfer from $\mathrm{GSpin}_{2n+1}$ if and only if a $P$-twisted version of $Z_H$ is non-vanishing on the $\tilde\pi^P$-eigenspace in $\pi$. This twisted $Z_H$ appears in all constructions of $p$-adic $L$-functions via Shalika models. We prove various results towards the conjecture by connecting it to the study of classical symplectic families in the $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}$ eigenvariety. If $\pi$ is spherical at $p$, there are $(2n)!$ attached $p$-refinements to Iwahori level; we conjecture the dimensions of such families through each of these, prove the upper bound unconditionally, and (by constructing the families) prove the lower bound under a non-critical slope assumption. For example, for $\mathrm{GL}_4$, we conjecture that (modulo 1-dimensional trivial variation) 8 refinements vary in 2-dimensional symplectic families, 8 in 1-dimensional symplectic families, and prove 8 do not vary in any symplectic family.

Abstract:Using techniques from calculus, we combine classical identities for $\pi$, $\operatorname{ln}2$, and harmonic numbers, to arrive at a nice infinite series formula for $\pi/3$ that does not appear to be well known. In addition, we give twenty-seven related identities involving $\pi$ and other irrational numbers. Posted in celebration of Pi Day 2022.

Abstract:We deduce a family of six new series for 1/pi; for example, [GRAPHICS] where W-n(x) = Sigma(n)(k=0) ((n)(k))((n+k)(k))((2k)(k))((2(n-k))(n-k))x(k). To do so, we manage to transform our series to series of the type [GRAPHICS] studied by Shaun Cooper in 2012. In addition, we pose 17 new series for 1/pi motivated by congruences; for example, we conjecture that [GRAPHICS] where T-k(b, c) is the coefficient of x(k) in the expansion of (x(2) + bx + c)(k).

Abstract:Recently, Sun [preprint, arXiv: <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2210.07238v7" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2210.07238v7">2210.07238v7</a>] proposed two conjectural series for the mathematical constant $\zeta(4)$ and two conjectural series for the mathematical constant $\zeta(5)$. In terms of the operator method and two hypergeometric transformations, we prove these four conjectures. Furthermore, we also find some new series for the two constants in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the main results of a 2024 \emph{Advances in Applied Mathematics} paper \cite{XuZhao2021c} about Apéry-type series involving central binomial coefficients and the multiple ($t-$)harmonic sums to parametric Apéry-type series involving parametric binomial coefficients and Hurwitz-type multiple harmonic (star) sums. In particular, we will establish many explicit relations between parametric Apéry-type series involving one or two parametric binomial coefficients and Hurwitz-type multiple zeta values (with $r$-variables) by using the method of iterated integrals.

Abstract:We present our investigation of the study of two variable hypergeometric series, namely Appell $F_{1}$ and $F_{3}$ series, and obtain a comprehensive list of its analytic continuations enough to cover the whole real $(x,y)$ plane, except on their singular loci. We also derive analytic continuations of their 3-variable generalization, the Lauricella $F_{D}^{(3)}$ series and the Lauricella-Saran $F_{S}^{(3)}$ series, leveraging the analytic continuations of $F_{1}$ and $F_{3}$, which ensures that the whole real $(x,y,z)$ space is covered, except on the singular loci of these functions. While these studies are motivated by the frequent occurrence of these multivariable hypergeometric functions in Feynman integral evaluation, they can also be used whenever they appear in other branches of mathematical physics. To facilitate their practical use, we provide four packages: $\texttt{AppellF1.wl}$, $\texttt{AppellF3.wl}$, $\texttt{LauricellaFD.wl}$, and $\texttt{LauricellaSaranFS.wl}$ in $\textit{MATHEMATICA}$. These packages are applicable for generic as well as non-generic values of parameters, keeping in mind their utilities in the evaluation of the Feynman integrals. We explicitly present various physical applications of these packages in the context of Feynman integral evaluation and compare the results using other means as well. Various $\textit{MATHEMATICA}$ notebooks demonstrating different numerical results are also provided along with this paper.

Infinite families of exact sums of squares formulas, Jacobi elliptic functions, continued fractions, and Schur functions

Abstract:In this paper we derive many infinite families of explicit exact formulas involving either squares or triangular numbers, two of which generalize Jacobi's 4 and 8 squares identities to 4n^2 or 4n(n+1) squares, respectively, without using cusp forms. In fact, we similarly generalize to infinite families all of Jacobi's explicitly stated degree 2, 4, 6, 8 Lambert series expansions of classical theta functions. In addition, we extend Jacobi's special analysis of 2 squares, 2 triangles, 6 squares, 6 triangles to 12 squares, 12 triangles, 20 squares, 20 triangles, respectively. These results, depending on new expansions for powers of various products of classical theta functions, arise in the setting of Jacobi elliptic functions, associated continued fractions, regular C-fractions, Hankel or Turanian determinants, Fourier series, Lambert series, inclusion/exclusion, Laplace expansion formula for determinants, and Schur functions. The Schur function form of these infinite families of identities are analogous to the eta-function identities of Macdonald. Moreover, the powers 4n(n+1), 2n^2+n, 2n^2-n that appear in Macdonald's work also arise at appropriate places in our analysis. A special case of our general methods yields a proof of the two Kac--Wakimoto conjectured identities involving representing a positive integer by sums of 4n^2 or 4n(n+1) triangular numbers, respectively.

Folding $π$

Abstract:It is well known that the set of origami constructible numbers is larger than the classical straight-edge and compass constructible numbers. However, the Huzita-Justin-Hatori origami constructible numbers remain algebraic so that the transcendental number $\pi$ can only be approximated using a finite number of straight line folds. Using these methods we give a convergent sequence for folding $\pi$ as well as other methods to approximate $\pi$. Folding along curved creases, however, allows for the construction of transcendental numbers. We here give a method to construct $\pi$ exactly by folding along a parabola, and we discuss generalizations for folding other transcendental numbers such as $\Gamma(1/4)$.
