Abstract:Plouffe conjectured rapidly converging series formulas for $\pi^{2n+1}$ and $\zeta (2n+1)$ for small values of $n$. We find the general pattern for all nonnegative integer values of $n$ and offer a proof.

Abstract:In this article we obtain, using an expression of the digamma function $\psi(x)$ due to Mikolas, integral representations of the zeta function of odd arguments $\zeta(2p+1)$ for any positive value of $p$. The integrand consists of the product of a polynomial by one or two elementary trigonometric functions. Examples for the first values of the argument are given. Some of them were already derived by other methods.

Five families of rapidly convergent evaluations of zeta values

Abstract:This work derives 5 methods to evaluate families of odd zeta values by combining a power of $\pi$ with Lambert series whose ratios of successive terms tend to $e^{-\pi\sqrt{a}}$ with integers $a\ge7$, outperforming Ramanujan's results with merit $a=4$. Families with $a=7$ and $a=8$ evaluate $\zeta(2n+1)$. Families with $a=9$ and $a=16$ evaluate $\zeta(4n+1)$ with faster convergence. A fifth family with $a=12$ evaluates $\zeta(6n+1)$ and gives the fastest convergence for $\zeta(6n+7)$. Members of three of the families were discovered empirically by Simon Plouffe. An intensive new search strongly suggests that there are no more than 5 families with integers $a\ge7$. There are at least 20 families that involve Lambert series with rational $a>4$. Quasi-modular transformations of Lambert series resolve rational sequences that were discovered empirically. Expansions of Lambert series in polylogarithms, familiar from quantum field theory, provide proofs of all known evaluations with rational merit $a>4$.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to present series expansions for even powers of the number $\pi$. This is accomplished by generalizing Euler's method for solving the Basel Problem, which was published in 1735. We employ elementary symmetric polynomials, transform them into nested sums, and thereby derive nice series formulas for even powers of the number $\pi$ such as \[ \frac{\pi^2}{3!}= \sum_{\ell_1=1}^\infty\frac{1}{\ell_1^2} \;;\quad\quad \frac{\pi^4}{5!} = \sum_{\ell_2=2}^\infty \sum_{\ell_1=1}^{\ell_2-1} \frac{1}{\ell_1^2\cdot\ell_2^2} \;;\quad\quad \frac{\pi^6}{7!}= \sum_{\ell_3=3}^\infty \sum_{\ell_2=2}^{\ell_3-1} \sum_{\ell_1=1}^{\ell_2-1}\frac{1}{\ell_1^2\cdot\ell_2^2\cdot\ell_3^2} \;;\quad\cdots \] Many of these formulas do not seem to be widely known.

Abstract:Via symbolic computation we deduce 97 new type series for powers of $ \pi $ related to Ramanujan-type series. Here are three typical examples: $ \sum\limits_{k = 0}^\infty\frac{P(k)\binom{2k}k\binom{3k}k\binom{6k}{3k}}{(k+1)(2k-1)(6k-1)(-640320)^{3k}} = \frac{18\times557403^3\sqrt{10005}}{5\pi} $ with $ \begin{align*} P(k) = &637379600041024803108 k^2 + 657229991696087780968 k \\&+ 19850391655004126179, \end{align*} $ $ \sum\limits_{k = 1}^\infty \frac{(3k+1)16^k}{(2k+1)^2k^3 \binom{2k}k^3} = \frac{\pi^2-8}2, $ and $ \sum\limits_{n = 0}^\infty\frac{3n+1}{(-100)^n}\sum\limits_{k = 0}^n{n\choose k}^2T_k(1,25)T_{n-k}(1,25) = \frac{25}{8\pi}, $ where the generalized central trinomial coefficient $ T_k(b,c) $ denotes the coefficient of $ x^k $ in the expansion of $ (x^2+bx+c)^k $. We also formulate a general characterization of rational Ramanujan-type series for $ 1/\pi $ via congruences, and pose 117 new conjectural series for powers of $ \pi $ via looking for corresponding congruences. For example, we conjecture that $ \sum\limits_{k = 0}^\infty\frac{39480k+7321}{(-29700)^k}T_k(14,1)T_k(11,-11)^2 = \frac{6795\sqrt5}{\pi}. $ Eighteen of the new series in this paper involve some imaginary quadratic fields with class number $ 8 $.

Abstract:It is well known that zeta(2) = pi(2)/6 as discovered by Euler. We present the following two q-analogues of this celebrated formula: Sigma(infinity)(k=0)q(k)(1 + q(2k+1))/(1 - q(2k+1))(2) = Pi(n=1 infinity)(1 - q(2n))(4)/(1 -q (2n-1))(4), Sigma(infinity)(k=0)q(2k)- [(-1)(k) k/2]/(1 - q(2k+1))(2 )= Pi(infinity )(n=1)(1 - q(2n))(2)(1 - q(4n))(2)/(1 - q(2n-1))(2)(1 - q(4n-2))(2), where q is any complex number with vertical bar q vertical bar < 1. We also give a q-analogue of the identity zeta(4) = pi(4)/90, and pose a problem on q-analogues of Euler's formula for zeta(2m) (m = 3,4, ...).

Abstract: Motivated by Ramanujan-type series and Zeilberger-type series, in this paper we investigate two new types of series for powers of $\pi$. For example, we prove that $$\sum_{k=0}^\infty(198k^2-425k+210)\frac{k^3\binom{2k}k^3}{4096^k}=-\frac1{21\pi}$$ and $$\sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{198k^2-227k+47}{\binom{2k}k^3}=\frac{3264-4\pi^2}{63}.$$ We also pose many conjectures in this new direction.

Abstract:The functional relation of the Riemann zêta function provides us with neither the nature nor the expression of zêta at positive odd numbers. From the function $F(z)=\frac{z^{-2n}}{e^z-1}$, we find a functional relation involving $\zeta(4n- 1)$, $\zeta(2p)$ and $\zeta(4n-1-2p)$. It is given by: \begin{equation} \zeta(4n-1)=\frac{1}{2n-1}\sum_{p=1}^{2n-2}\zeta(2p)\zeta(4n-1-2p). \end{equation} $n=2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...$ From this formula we introduce a new approach to study the nature of $\zeta$ on these integers.

Abstract:We give a probabilistic interpretation of the Dedekind zeta functions of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{-1})$ and $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{-2})$ using zeta integrals and use this to show that the first two Li coefficients of these zeta functions are positive. This extends a result of Biane, Pitman, and Yor (2001) which considered the case of the Riemann zeta function.

Abstract:In this article, we have studied transformation formulas of zeta function at odd integers over an arbitrary number field which in turn generalizes Ramanujan's identity for the Riemann zeta function. The above transformation leads to a new number field extension of Eisenstein series, which satisfies the transformation $z \mapsto -1/z$ like an integral weight modular form over SL$_2(\Z)$. The results provide number of important applications, which are important in studying the behaviour of odd zeta values as well as Lambert series in an arbitrary number field.

Abstract:For odd $k$, we give a formula for the relations between double zeta values $\zeta(r,k-r)$ with $r$ even. This formula provides a connection with the space of cusp forms on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. This is the odd weight analogue of a result by Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier. We also provide an answer of a question asked by Zagier about the left kernel of some matrix. Although the restricted sum statement fails in the odd weight case, we provide an asymptotical statement that replaces it. Our statement works more generally for restricted sums with any congruence condition on the first entry of the double zeta value.

Abstract:Let [Formula: see text] be a positive integer, and define [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] denotes the number of distinct prime factors of [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] represents the total number of prime factors of [Formula: see text] (counted with multiplicity). In this paper, we study these two zeta functions and related arithmetical functions. We show that [Formula: see text] which is similar to the known identity [Formula: see text] equivalent to the Prime Number Theorem. For [Formula: see text], we prove that [Formula: see text] We also raise a hypothesis on the parities of [Formula: see text] which implies the Riemann Hypothesis.

Abstract:The values of the Riemann zeta function at odd positive integers, $\zeta(2n+1)$, are shown to admit a representation proportional to the finite-part of the divergent integral $\int_0^{\infty} t^{-2n-1} \operatorname{csch}t\,\mathrm{d}t$. Integral representations for $\zeta(2n+1)$ are then deduced from the finite-part integral representation. Certain relations between $\zeta(2n+1)$ and $\zeta'(2n+1)$ are likewise deduced, from which integral representations for $\zeta'(2n+1)$ are obtained.

Many $p$-adic odd zeta values are irrational

Abstract:For any prime $p$ and $\varepsilon>0$ we prove that for any sufficiently large positive odd integer $s$ at least $(c_p-\varepsilon) \sqrt{\frac{s}{\log s}}$ of the $p$-adic zeta values $\zeta_p(3),\zeta_p(5),\dots,\zeta_p(s)$ are irrational. The constant $c_p$ is positive and does only depend on $p$. This result establishes a $p$-adic version of the elimination technique used by Fischler--Sprang--Zudilin and Lai--Yu to prove a similar result on classical zeta values. The main difficulty consists in proving the non-vanishing of the resulting linear forms. We overcome this problem by using a new irrationality criterion.

Abstract:In this note, we give an exact formula for a general family of rational zeta series involving the coefficient $\zeta(2n)$ in terms of Hurwitz zeta values. This formula generalizes two formulas from a previous paper of the first author. Our method will involve derivatives polynomials for the cotangent function.

Abstract:In 2001, Kanemitsu, Tanigawa, and Yoshimoto studied the following generalized Lambert series, $$ \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \frac{n^{N-2h} }{\exp(n^N x)-1}, $$ for $N \in \mathbb{N}$ and $h\in \mathbb{Z}$ with some restriction on $h$. Recently, Dixit and the last author pointed out that this series has already been present in the Lost Notebook of Ramanujan with a more general form. Although, Ramanujan did not provide any transformation identity for it. In the same paper, Dixit and the last author found an elegant generalization of Ramanujan's celebrated identity for $\zeta(2m+1)$ while extending the results of Kanemitsu et al. In a subsequent work, Kanemitsu et al. explored another extended version of the aforementioned series, namely, $$\sum_{r=1}^{q}\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \frac{\chi(r)n^{N-2h}{\exp\left(-\frac{r}{q}n^N x\right)}}{1-\exp({-n^N x})},$$ where $\chi$ denotes a Dirichlet character modulo $q$, $N\in 2\mathbb{N}$ and with some restriction on the variable $h$. In the current paper, we investigate the above series for {\it any} $N \in \mathbb{N}$ and $h \in \mathbb{Z}$. We obtain a Dirichlet character analogue of Dixit and the last author's identity and there by derive a two variable generalization of Ramanujan's identity for $\zeta(2m+1)$. Moreover, we establish a new identity for $L(1/3, \chi)$ analogous to Ramanujan's famous identity for $\zeta(1/2)$.

Abstract:The prime-counting function $\pi(x)$ which returns the number of primes smaller or equal to a given number is a topic of interest in number theory. An algorithm based on a cyclic group isomorphic to $Z/nZ$, the so-called $Z$-functions, was proposed in view to outperform its pieers. The approach suggests a time complexity $\mathcal{O}(x^{1/2})$ in agreement with optimality of a 2-D squared adaptive-recursive algorithm. The present work is a presentation of various approaches as ascending factorization, the main sequence of odd numbers and partial sequences, T-series, counting function of prime composites, $Z$-modular forms and combinatorial aspects.

Abstract:Using cyclotomic multiple zeta values of level 8, we confirm and generalize several conjectural identities on infinite series with summands involving 2kk8^k/(3kk6k3k). For example, we prove that ∑_k=0^∞(350k-17)2kk8^k/3kk6k3k=15√(2) π+27 and ∑_k=1^∞{(5k-1)[16𝖧_2k-1^(2)-3𝖧_k-1^(2)]-12(6k-1)/(2k-1)^2}2kk8^k/k(2k-1)3kk6k3k=π^3/12√(2), where 𝖧^(2)_m denotes the second-order harmonic number ∑_0<j≤ m1/j^2.

Abstract:Let $m$ be a positive integer, and define $$\zeta_m(s)=\sum_{n=1}^\infty\frac{(-e^{2\pi i/m})^{\omega(n)}}{n^s} \zeta^*_m(s)=\sum_{n=1}^\infty\frac{(-e^{2\pi i/m})^{\Omega(n)}}{n^s},$$ for $\Re(s)>1$, where $\omega(n)$ denotes the number of distinct prime factors of $n$, and $\Omega(n)$ represents the total number of prime factors of $n$ (counted with multiplicity). In this paper we study these two zeta functions and related arithmetical functions. We show that $$\sum^\infty_{n=1\atop n \text{is squarefree}}\frac{(-e^{2\pi i/m})^{\omega(n)}}n=0\quad\text{if} m>4,$$ which is similar to the known identity $\sum_{n=1}^\infty\mu(n)/n=0$ equivalent to the Prime Number Theorem. For $m>4$, we prove that $$\zeta_m(1):=\sum_{n=1}^\infty\frac{(-e^{2\pi i/m})^{\omega(n)}}n=0 \text{and} \zeta^*_m(1):=\sum_{n=1}^\infty\frac{(-e^{2\pi i/m})^{\Omega(n)}}n=0.$$ We also raise a hypothesis on the parities of $\Omega(n)-n$ which implies the Riemann Hypothesis.
