Abstract:We show that every dynamically convex toric domain in $\mathbb R^4$ admits a $C^1$-neighborhood $\mathcal U$ within the space of star-shaped domains of $\mathbb R^4$ with the following property: for any $X \in \mathcal U$, every Legendrian knot in $\partial X$ admits a Reeb chord with distinct endpoints. A higher dimensional analog is also discussed.

Abstract:In this article, we first give a proof on the Arnold chord conjecture which states that every Reeb flow has at least as many Reeb chords as a smooth function on the Legendre submanifold has critical points on contact manifold. Second, we prove that every Reeb flow has at least as many close Reeb orbits as a smooth round function on the close contact manifold has critical circles on contact manifold. This also implies a proof on the fact that there exists at least number n close Reeb orbits on close (2n-1)-dimensional convex hypersurface in R^2n conjectured by Ekeland.

Abstract:In this article,we use the variational method to prove that for the Legendre submanifold of the restricted type on the closed simply-connected contact manifold in T2m × R2n, there exists at least one Reeb chord connecting it. We also consider some generalizations on the Arnold chord conjecture to the non-contact manifolds and prove some existence results.

Abstract:We prove Arnol'd's chord conjecture for all Legendrian submanifolds of cosphere bundles of closed manifolds isotopic to conormal bundles of closed submanifolds. Our method of proof involves an isomorphism between wrapped Floer cohomology and the homology of a path space with coefficients in a local system and a twisted version of the Hurewicz theorem.

Abstract:The main theme of this paper is the dynamics of Reeb flows with symmetries on the standard contact sphere. We introduce the notion of strong dynamical convexity for contact forms invariant under a group action, supporting the standard contact structure, and prove that in dimension $2n+1$ any such contact form satisfying a condition slightly weaker than strong dynamical convexity has at least $n+1$ simple closed Reeb orbits. For contact forms with antipodal symmetry, we prove that strong dynamical convexity is a consequence of ordinary convexity. In dimension five or greater, we construct examples of antipodally symmetric dynamically convex contact forms which are not strongly dynamically convex, and thus not contactomorphic to convex ones via a contactomorphism commuting with the antipodal map. Finally, we relax this condition on the contactomorphism furnishing a condition that has non-empty $C^1$-interior.

Abstract:In the 1960s Arnold conjectured that a Hamiltonian diffeomorphism of a closed connected symplectic manifold $(M,\omega)$ should have at least as many contractible fixed points as a smooth function on $M$ has critical points. Such a conjecture can be seen as a natural generalization of Poincaré's last geometric theorem and is one of the most famous (and still nowadays open in its full generality) problems in symplectic geometry. In this paper, we build on a recent approach of the authors and Izydorek to the Arnold conjecture on $\mathbb C\mathbb P^n$ to show that the (degenerate) Arnold conjecture holds for Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms $\phi$ of $\mathbb T^{2m}\times \mathbb C\mathbb P^n$, $m,n\geq 1$, which are $C^0$-close to the identity in the $\mathbb C \mathbb P^n$-direction, namely that any such $\phi$ has at least $\text{CL}(\mathbb T^{2m}\times \mathbb C\mathbb P^n)+1= 2m+n+1$ contractible fixed points.

Abstract:We introduce a notion of strong closing property of contact forms, inspired by the closing lemma for Reeb flows in dimension three. We then prove a sufficient criterion for strong closing property, which is formulated by considering a monoidal functor from a category of manifolds with contact forms to a category of filtered vector spaces. As a potential application of this criterion, we propose a conjecture which says that a standard contact form on the boundary of any symplectic ellipsoid satisfies strong closing property.

Abstract:We construct the CR invariant canonical contact form can( J ) on scalar positive spherical CR manifold ( M , J ), which is the CR analogue of canonical metric on locally conformally flat manifold constructed by Habermann and Jost. We also construct another canonical contact form on the Kleinian manifold Ω(Γ)/Γ, where Γ is a convex cocompact subgroup of Aut CR S 2 n +1 = PU ( n +1,1) and Ω(Γ) is the discontinuity domain of Γ. This contact form can be used to prove that Ω(Γ)/Γ is scalar positive (respectively, scalar negative, or scalar vanishing) if and only if the critical exponent δ(Γ)< n (respectively, δ(Γ)> n , or δ(Γ)= n ). This generalizes Nayatani’s result for convex cocompact subgroups of SO ( n +1,1). We also discuss the connected sum of spherical CR manifolds.

Abstract:The purposes of the present paper are two-fold. Firstly we further develop the interplay between the contact Hamiltonian geometry and the geometric analysis of Hamiltonian-perturbed contact instantons with the Legendrian boundary condition, which is initiated by the present author in \cite{oh:contacton-Legendrian-bdy}. We introduce the class of \emph{tame contact manifolds} $(M,\lambda)$, which includes compact ones but not necessarily compact, and establish uniform a priori $C^0$-estimates for the contact instantons. Then we study the problem of estimating the Reeb-untangling energy of one Legendrian submanifold from another, and formulate a particularly designed parameterized moduli space for the study of the problem. We establish the Gromov-Floer-Hofer type convergence result for contact instantons of finite energy and construct its compactification of the moduli space, first by defining the correct energy and then by proving uniform a priori energy bounds in terms of the oscillation of the relevant contact Hamiltonian. Secondly, as an application of this geometry and analysis of contact instantons, we prove that the \emph{self Reeb-untangling energy} of a compact Legendrian submanifold $R$ in any tame contact manifold $(M,\lambda)$ is greater than that of the period gap $T_\lambda(M,R)$ of the Reeb chords of $R$. This is an optimal result in <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://general.In" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> a sequel \cite{oh:shelukhin-conjecture}, we also prove Shelukhin's conjecture specializing to the Legendrianization of contactomorphisms and utilizing its $\mathbb Z_2$-symmetry argument as the fixed point set of anti-contact involution.

Abstract:In this short note we observe that the boundary of a properly embedded compact exact Lagrangian sub-manifolds in a subcritical Weinstein domain $X$ necessarily admits Reeb chords. The existence of this Reeb chords either follows from an obstruction to the deformation of the boundary to a cylinder over a Legendrian sub-manifold or from the fact that the wrapped Floer homology of the Lagrangian vanishes once this boundary have been "collared".

Abstract:We consider contact elements in the sutured Floer homology of solid tori with longitudinal sutures, as part of the (1+1)-dimensional topological quantum field theory defined by Honda--Kazez--Matić in \cite{HKM08}. The $\Z_2$ $SFH$ of these solid tori forms a "categorification of Pascal's triangle", and contact structures correspond bijectively to chord diagrams, or sets of disjoint properly embedded arcs in the disc. Their contact elements are distinct and form distinguished subsets of $SFH$ of order given by the Narayana numbers. We find natural "creation and annihilation operators" which allow us to define a QFT-type basis of $SFH$, consisting of contact elements. Sutured Floer homology in this case reduces to the combinatorics of chord diagrams. We prove that contact elements are in bijective correspondence with comparable pairs of basis elements with respect to a certain partial order. The algebraic and combinatorial structures in this description have intrinsic contact-topological meaning. In particular, the QFT-basis of $SFH$ and its partial order have a natural interpretation in pure contact topology, related to the contact category of a disc: the partial order enables us to tell when the sutured solid cylinder obtained by "stacking" two chord diagrams has a tight contact structure. This leads us to extend Honda's notion of contact category to a "bounded" contact category, containing chord diagrams and contact structures which occur within a given contact solid cylinder. We compute this bounded contact category in certain cases. Moreover, the decomposition of a contact element into basis elements naturally gives a triple of contact structures on solid cylinders which we regard as a type of "distinguished triangle" in the contact category. We also use the algebraic structures arising among contact elements to extend the notion of contact category to a 2-category.

Abstract:A contact form on the tight $3$-sphere $(S^3,\xi_0)$ is called weakly convex if the Conley-Zehnder index of every Reeb orbit is at least $2$. In this article, we study Reeb flows of weakly convex contact forms on $(S^3,\xi_0)$ admitting a prescribed finite set of index-$2$ Reeb orbits, which are all hyperbolic and mutually unlinked. We present conditions so that these index-$2$ orbits are binding orbits of a genus zero transverse foliation whose additional binding orbits have index $3$. In addition, we show in the real-analytic case that the topological entropy of the Reeb flow is positive if the branches of the stable/unstable manifolds of the index-$2$ orbits are mutually non-coincident.

Abstract:We use Hamiltonian Floer theory to recover and generalize a classic rigidity theorem of Ekelend and Lasry. That theorem can be rephrased as an assertion about the existence of multiple closed Reeb orbits for certain tight contact forms on the sphere that are close, in a suitable sense, to the standard contact form. We first generalize this result to Reeb flows of contact forms on prequantization spaces that are suitably close to Boothby-Wang forms. We then establish, under an additional nondegeneracy assumption, the same rigidity phenomenon for Reeb flows on any closed contact manifold. A natural obstruction to obtaining sharp multiplicity results for closed Reeb orbits is the possible existence of fast closed orbits. To complement the existence results established here, we also show that the existence of such fast orbits can not be precluded by any condition which is invariant under contactomorphisms, even for nearby contact forms.

Abstract:In this note we show that $+1$-contact surgery on distinct Legendrian knots frequently produces contactomorphic manifolds. We also give examples where this happens for $-1$-contact surgery. As an amusing corollary we find overtwisted contact structures that contain a large number of distinct Legendrian knots with the same classical invariants and tight complements.
