Abstract:This article advances the results of Duke on the average surjectivity of Galois representations for elliptic curves to the context of Drinfeld modules over function fields. Let $F$ be the rational function field over a finite field. I establish that for Drinfeld modules of rank $r \geq 2$, the $T$-adic Galois representation: $\widehat{\rho}_{\phi, T}: Gal(F^{sep}/F) \rightarrow GL_r(\mathbb{F}_q[[T]])$ is surjective for a density $1$ set of such modules. The proof utilizes Hilbert irreducibility (over function fields), Drinfeld's uniformization theory and sieve methods.

A duality result about special functions in Drinfeld modules of arbitrary rank

Abstract:In the setting of a Drinfeld module $\phi$ over a curve $X/\mathbb{F}_q$, we use a functorial point of view to define \emph{Anderson eigenvectors}, a generalization of the so called "special functions" introduced by Anglès, Ngo Dac and Tavares Ribeiro, and prove the existence of a universal object $\omega_\phi$. We adopt an analogous approach with the dual Drinfeld module $\phi^*$ to define \textit{dual Anderson eigenvectors}. The universal object of this functor, denoted by $\zeta_\phi$, is a generalization of Pellarin zeta functions, can be expressed as an Eisenstein-like series over the period lattice, and its coordinates are entire functions over $X_{\mathbb{C}_\infty}\setminus\infty$. For all integers $i$ we define dot products $\zeta_\phi\cdot\omega_\phi^{(i)}$ as certain meromorphic differential forms over $X_{\mathbb{C}_\infty}\setminus\infty$, and prove they are actually rational. This amounts to a generalization of Pellarin's identity for the Carlitz module. Finally, we develop an algorithm to compute the forms $\zeta_\phi\cdot\omega_\phi^{(i)}$ when $X=\mathbb{P}^1$, and prove a conjecture of Gazda and Maurischat about the invertibility of special functions for Drinfeld modules of rank $1$.

Abstract:Let $\Phi $ be a Drinfeld $\mathbf{F}\_{q}[T]$-module of rank 2, over a finite field $L=\mathbf{F}\_{q^{n}}$. We will study the cyclic property of the structure $L^{\Phi}.$ We will prove that the latter is cyclic only for trivial extensions of $\mathbf{F}\_{q}$.

Abstract:Let $q\geq2$ be a prime power and consider Drinfeld modules of rank 2 over $\mathbb{F}_q[T]$. We prove that there are no points with coordinates being Drinfeld singular moduli, on a family of hyperbolas $XY=\gamma$, where $\gamma$ is a polynomial of small degree. This is an effective André-Oort theorem for these curves. We also prove that there are at most finitely many Drinfeld singular moduli that are algebraic units, for every fixed $q\geq2$, and we give an effective bound on the discriminant of such singular moduli. We give in an appendix an inseparability criterion for values of some classical modular forms, generalising an argument used in the proof of our first result.

Abstract:Let $q$ be a prime power and $F=\mathbb{F}_q(T)$ be the rational function field over $\mathbb{F}_q$, the field with $q$ elements. Let $\phi$ be a Drinfeld module over $F$ and $\mathfrak{p}$ be a non-zero prime ideal of $A:=\mathbb{F}_q[T]$. Over the constant $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension of $F$, we introduce the fine Selmer group associated to the $\mathfrak{p}$-primary torsion of $\phi$. We show that it is a cofinitely generated module over $A_{\mathfrak{p}}$. This proves an analogue of Iwasawa's $\mu=0$ conjecture in this setting, and provides context for the further study of the objects that have been introduced in this article.

Abstract:We give asymptotics for the number of Drinfeld $\mathbb{F}_q[T]$-modules over $\mathbb{F}_q(T)$ of a given height, which satisfy prescribed sets of local conditions. This is done by relating our problem to a problem about counting points on weighted projective spaces. Our results for counting points of bounded height on weighted projective spaces over global function fields may be of independent interest.

Abstract:Let $A={\mathbb F}_q[t]$ be the polynomial ring over a finite field ${\mathbb F}_q$ and let $\phi $ and $\psi$ be $A-$Drinfeld modules. In this paper we consider the group ${\mathrm{Ext}}^1(\phi ,\psi )$ with the Baer addition. We show that if $\mathrm{rank}\phi >\mathrm{rank}\psi$ then $\mathrm{Ext^1}(\phi,\psi)$ has the structure of a \tm module. We give complete algorithm describing this structure. We generalize this to the cases: $\mathrm{Ext^1}(\Phi,\psi)$ where $\Phi$ is a \tm module and $\psi$ is a Drinfeld module and $\mathrm{Ext^1}(\Phi, C^{\otimes e})$ where $\Phi$ is a \tm module and $C^{\otimes e}$ is the $e$-th tensor product of Carlitz module. We also establish duality between $\Ext$ groups for \tm modules and the corresponding adjoint ${\mathbf t}^{\sigma}$-modules. Finally, we prove the existence of $"\Hom-\Ext"$ six-term exact sequences for \tm modules and dual \tm motives. As the category of \tm modules is only additive (not abelian) this result is nontrivial.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{F}_q$ be the finite field with $q$ elements and consider the rational function field $K:=\mathbb{F}_q(\theta)$. For a Drinfeld module $\phi$ defined over $K$, we study the transcendence of special values of the Goss $L$-function attached to the abelian $t$-motive $M_{\phi}$ of $\phi$. Moreover, when $\phi$ is a Drinfeld module of rank $r\geq 2$ defined over $K$ which has everywhere good reduction, we prove that the value of the Goss $L$-function attached to the $(r-1)$-st exterior power of $M_{\phi}$ at any positive integer is transcendental over $K$.

Abstract:This is the third part of a series of articles providing a foundation for the theory of Drinfeld modular forms of arbitrary rank. In the present article we construct and study some examples of Drinfeld modular forms. In particular we define Eisenstein series, as well as the action of Hecke operators upon them, coefficient forms and discriminant forms. In the special case A=F_q[t] we show that all modular forms for GL_r(\Gamma(t)) are generated by certain weight one Eisenstein series, and all modular forms for GL_r(A) and SL_r(A) are generated by certain coefficient forms and discriminant forms. We also compute the dimensions of the spaces of such modular forms.

Abstract:Given a p-adic representation of the Galois group of a local field, we show that its Galois cohomology can be computed using the associated etale (phi,Gamma)-module over the Robba ring; this is a variant of a result of Herr. We then establish analogues, for not necessarily etale (phi,Gamma)-modules over the Robba ring, of the Euler-Poincare characteristic formula and Tate local duality for p-adic representations. These results are expected to intervene in the duality theory for Selmer groups associated to de Rham representations.

Abstract:The goal of this article is to define an analogue of the Weil-pairing for Drinfeld modules using explicit formulas and to deduce its main properties from these formulas. Our result generalizes the formula currently known for rank 2 Drinfeld modules and works as a more explicit, elementary proof of the Weil-pairing's existence than the one appearing in the current literature.

Abstract:We study the Drinfeld modular curves arising from the Hecke congruence subgroups of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_q[T])$. Using a combinatorial method of Gekeler and Nonnengardt, we obtain a genus formula for these curves. In cases when the genus is one, we compute the Weierstrass equation of the corresponding curve.

Abstract:Let $\phi$ be a Drinfeld $A$-module of finite residual characteristic $\bar{\mathfrak{p}}$ over a local field $K$. We study the action of the inertia group of $K$ on a modified adelic Tate module $\smash{T^\circ_{\text{ad}}}(\phi)$ which differs from the usual adelic Tate module only at the $\bar{\mathfrak{p}}$-primary component. After replacing $K$ by a finite extension we can assume that $\phi$ is the analytic quotient of a Drinfeld module $\psi$ of good reduction by a lattice $M\subset K$. The image of inertia acting on $T^\circ_{\text{ad}}(\phi)$ is then naturally a subgroup of $\operatorname{Hom}_A(M,T^\circ_\text{ad}(\psi))$.

The generalized injectivity conjecture, posed by Casselman--Shahidi, asserts that any generic irreducible subquotient $\pi$ of $\sigma$ is necessarily a subrepresentation of $\sigma$. Abstract:We provide two families of algorithms to compute characteristic polynomials of endomorphisms and norms of isogenies of Drinfeld modules. Our algorithms work for Drinfeld modules of any rank, defined over any base curve. When the base curve is $\mathbb P^1_{\mathbb F_q}$, we do a thorough study of the complexity, demonstrating that our algorithms are, in many cases, the most asymptotically performant. The first family of algorithms relies on the correspondence between Drinfeld modules and Anderson motives, reducing the computation to linear algebra over a polynomial ring. The second family, available only for the Frobenius endomorphism, is based on a formula expressing the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius as a reduced norm in a central simple algebra.
