Abstract:Let $\Phi $ be a Drinfeld $\mathbf{F}\_{q}[T]$-module of rank 2, over a finite field $L=\mathbf{F}\_{q^{n}}$. We will study the cyclic property of the structure $L^{\Phi}.$ We will prove that the latter is cyclic only for trivial extensions of $\mathbf{F}\_{q}$.
Algorithms for computing norms and characteristic polynomials on general Drinfeld modules

Abstract:We provide two families of algorithms to compute characteristic polynomials of endomorphisms and norms of isogenies of Drinfeld modules. Our algorithms work for Drinfeld modules of any rank, defined over any base curve. When the base curve is $\mathbb P^1_{\mathbb F_q}$, we do a thorough study of the complexity, demonstrating that our algorithms are, in many cases, the most asymptotically performant. The first family of algorithms relies on the correspondence between Drinfeld modules and Anderson motives, reducing the computation to linear algebra over a polynomial ring. The second family, available only for the Frobenius endomorphism, is based on a formula expressing the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius as a reduced norm in a central simple algebra.

Abstract:Let $q\geq2$ be a prime power and consider Drinfeld modules of rank 2 over $\mathbb{F}_q[T]$. We prove that there are no points with coordinates being Drinfeld singular moduli, on a family of hyperbolas $XY=\gamma$, where $\gamma$ is a polynomial of small degree. This is an effective André-Oort theorem for these curves. We also prove that there are at most finitely many Drinfeld singular moduli that are algebraic units, for every fixed $q\geq2$, and we give an effective bound on the discriminant of such singular moduli. We give in an appendix an inseparability criterion for values of some classical modular forms, generalising an argument used in the proof of our first result.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the ramification of extensions of a function field generated by division points of rank 2 Drinfeld modules. Also conductors of certain rank 2 Drinfeld modules are defined as analogues of those for elliptic curves. A calculation of these conductors allows us to show an analogue of Szpiro's conjecture under a certain limited situation.

Abstract:We study the Drinfeld modular curves arising from the Hecke congruence subgroups of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_q[T])$. Using a combinatorial method of Gekeler and Nonnengardt, we obtain a genus formula for these curves. In cases when the genus is one, we compute the Weierstrass equation of the corresponding curve.

Abstract:This article advances the results of Duke on the average surjectivity of Galois representations for elliptic curves to the context of Drinfeld modules over function fields. Let $F$ be the rational function field over a finite field. I establish that for Drinfeld modules of rank $r \geq 2$, the $T$-adic Galois representation: $\widehat{\rho}_{\phi, T}: Gal(F^{sep}/F) \rightarrow GL_r(\mathbb{F}_q[[T]])$ is surjective for a density $1$ set of such modules. The proof utilizes Hilbert irreducibility (over function fields), Drinfeld's uniformization theory and sieve methods.

Abstract:Using Fourier-Mukai transformations, we prove some results about the ring of unipotent vector bundles on elliptic curves in positive characteristics. This ring was determined by Atiyah in characteristic zero, who showed that it is a polynomial ring in one variable. It turns out that the situation in characteristic p>0 is completely different and rather bizarre: the ring is nonnoetherian and contains a subring whose spectrum contains infinitely many copies of Spec(Z), which are glued with successively higher and higher infinitesimal identification at the point corresponding to the prime p.

Abstract:The primary objective of this paper is to derive explicit formulas for rank one and rank two Drinfeld modules over a specific domain denoted by A. This domain corresponds to the projective line associated with an infinite place of degree two. To achieve the goals, we construct a pair of standard Drinfeld modules whose coefficients are in the Hilbert class field of A. We demonstrate that the period lattice of the exponential functions corresponding to both modules behaves similarly to the period lattice of the Carlitz module, the standard rank one Drinfeld module defined over rational function field. Moreover, we employ Andersons t-motive to obtain the complete family of rank two Drinfeld modules. This family is parameterized by the invariant J = \lambda^{q^2+1} which effectively serves as the counterpart of the j-invariant for elliptic curves. Building upon the concepts introduced by van~der~Heiden, particularly with regard to rank two Drinfeld modules, we are able to reformulate the Weil pairing of Drinfeld modules of any rank using a specialized polynomial in multiple variables known as the Weil operator. As an illustrative example, we provide a detailed examination of a more explicit formula for the Weil pairing and the Weil operator of rank two Drinfeld modules over the domain A.

Abstract:We construct and study a natural compactification $\overline{M}^r(N)$ of the moduli scheme $M^r(N)$ for rank-$r$ Drinfeld $\F_q[T]$-modules with a structure of level $N \in \F_q[T]$. Namely, $\overline{M}^r(N) = {\rm Proj}\,{\bf Eis}(N)$, the projective variety associated with the graded ring ${\bf Eis}(N)$ generated by the Eisenstein series of rank $r$ and level $N$. We use this to define the ring ${\bf Mod}(N)$ of all modular forms of rank $r$ and level $N$. It equals the integral closure of ${\bf Eis}(N)$ in their common quotient field $\widetilde{\MF}_r(N)$. Modular forms are characterized as those holomorphic functions on the Drinfeld space $\Om^r$ with the right transformation behavior under the congruence subgroup $\Ga(N)$ of $\Ga = {\rm GL}(r,\F_q[T])$ ("weak modular forms") which, along with all their conjugates under $\Ga/\Ga(N)$, are bounded on the natural fundamental domain $\BF$ for $\Ga$ on $\Om^r$.

Families of two dimensional modular $(φ,Γ)$-modules

Abstract:Let $F/{\mathbb Q}_p$ be a finite unramified extension, let $k$ be a finite extension of the residue field of $F$. We provide explicit constructions of integral structures for all rank two étale Lubin-Tate $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules over $k$. We construct algebraic families of such integral structures and show that these comprehensively reflect the degeneration behaviour of $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules. These results reveal new combinatorial structures of the moduli stack of $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules, and allow us, in particular, to rederive the fact that the Serre weights assigned to a two dimensional ${\rm Gal}(\overline{F}/F)$-representation over $k$ can be read off from the geometry of the stack.

Abstract:Colmez, Dospinescu and Niziol have shown that the only $p$-adic representations of $\rm{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}_p/\mathbb{Q}_p)$ appearing in the $p$-adic étale cohomology of the coverings of Drinfeld's half-plane are the $2$-dimensional cuspidal representations (i.e. potentially semi-stable, whose associated Weil-Deligne representation is irreducible) with Hodge-Tate weights $0$ and $1$ and their multiplicities are given by the $p$-adic Langlands correspondence. We generalise this result to arbitrary weights, by considering the $p$-adic étale cohomology with coefficients in the symmetric powers of the universal local system on Drinfeld's tower. A novelty is the appearance of potentially semistable $2$-dimensional non-cristabelian representations, with expected multiplicity. The key point is that the local systems we consider turn out to be particularly simple: they are "isotrivial opers" on a curve. We develop a recipe to compute the proétale cohomology of such a local system using the Hyodo-Kato cohomology of the curve and the de Rham complex of the flat filtered bundle associated to the local system.

A duality result about special functions in Drinfeld modules of arbitrary rank

Abstract:In the setting of a Drinfeld module $\phi$ over a curve $X/\mathbb{F}_q$, we use a functorial point of view to define \emph{Anderson eigenvectors}, a generalization of the so called "special functions" introduced by Anglès, Ngo Dac and Tavares Ribeiro, and prove the existence of a universal object $\omega_\phi$. We adopt an analogous approach with the dual Drinfeld module $\phi^*$ to define \textit{dual Anderson eigenvectors}. The universal object of this functor, denoted by $\zeta_\phi$, is a generalization of Pellarin zeta functions, can be expressed as an Eisenstein-like series over the period lattice, and its coordinates are entire functions over $X_{\mathbb{C}_\infty}\setminus\infty$. For all integers $i$ we define dot products $\zeta_\phi\cdot\omega_\phi^{(i)}$ as certain meromorphic differential forms over $X_{\mathbb{C}_\infty}\setminus\infty$, and prove they are actually rational. This amounts to a generalization of Pellarin's identity for the Carlitz module. Finally, we develop an algorithm to compute the forms $\zeta_\phi\cdot\omega_\phi^{(i)}$ when $X=\mathbb{P}^1$, and prove a conjecture of Gazda and Maurischat about the invertibility of special functions for Drinfeld modules of rank $1$.

Along the way, we obtain a "pick-a-number" trick; expressing an integer n as a sum of products of p -adic digits of related integers.

Given a quadratic field extension $E/F$ and an irreducible $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_{\ell}$-representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_n(E)$, we verify the Jacquet conjecture in the modular setting that if the Langlands parameter $\phi_\pi$ is irreducible and conjugate-self-dual, then $\pi$ is either $\mathrm{GL}_n(F)$-distinguished or $(\mathrm{GL}_n(F),\omega_{E/F})$-distinguished (where $\omega_{E/F}$ is the quadratic character of $F^\times$ associated to the quadratic field extension $E/F$ by the local class field theory), but not both, which extends one result of Sécherre to the case $p=2$. We give another application of our lifting theorem for supercuspidal representations distinguished by a unitary involution, extending one result of Zou to $p=2$.

Abstract:The Drinfeld module is a tool of the explicit class field theory for the function fields. We first observe a similarity of such modules with the noncommutative tori, and then use it to develop an explicit class field theory for the number fields. Abstract:Compared with algebraic varieties the local monodromy of Drinfeld modules appears to be hopelessly complex: the image of the wild inertia subgroup under Tate module representations is infinite save for the case of potential good reduction. Nonetheless, we show that Tate modules of Drinfeld modules are ramified in a limited way: the image of a sufficiently deep ramification subgroup is trivial. This leads to a new invariant, the local conductor of a Drinfeld module. We establish an upper bound on the conductor in terms of the volume of the period lattice. As an intermediate step we develop a theory of normed lattices in function field arithmetic including the notion of volume. We relate normed lattices to vector bundles on projective curves. With the aid of Castelnuovo–Mumford regularity this implies a volume bound on norms of lattice generators, and the conductor inequality follows. Last but not least we describe the image of inertia for Drinfeld modules with period lattices of rank . Just as in the theory of local -adic Galois representations this image is commensurable with a commutative unipotent algebraic subgroup. However, in the case of Drinfeld modules such a subgroup can be a product of several copies of .
