Abstract:Let $A={\mathbb F}_q[t]$ be the polynomial ring over a finite field ${\mathbb F}_q$ and let $\phi $ and $\psi$ be $A-$Drinfeld modules. In this paper we consider the group ${\mathrm{Ext}}^1(\phi ,\psi )$ with the Baer addition. We show that if $\mathrm{rank}\phi >\mathrm{rank}\psi$ then $\mathrm{Ext^1}(\phi,\psi)$ has the structure of a \tm module. We give complete algorithm describing this structure. We generalize this to the cases: $\mathrm{Ext^1}(\Phi,\psi)$ where $\Phi$ is a \tm module and $\psi$ is a Drinfeld module and $\mathrm{Ext^1}(\Phi, C^{\otimes e})$ where $\Phi$ is a \tm module and $C^{\otimes e}$ is the $e$-th tensor product of Carlitz module. We also establish duality between $\Ext$ groups for \tm modules and the corresponding adjoint ${\mathbf t}^{\sigma}$-modules. Finally, we prove the existence of $"\Hom-\Ext"$ six-term exact sequences for \tm modules and dual \tm motives. As the category of \tm modules is only additive (not abelian) this result is nontrivial.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the structure of the extension groups (Ext groups) of Drinfeld modules and t - modules. Specifically, the authors explore how to endow their extension group $\text{Ext}^1$ with the structure of t - modules when the ranks of two Drinfeld modules are different. In addition, they also study the more general case, that is, the extension group between a t - module and a Drinfeld module, and establish the relationship between these extension groups and the dual t - modules. ### Main problems 1. **Extension groups of Drinfeld modules**: - When $\text{rank}(\phi)>\text{rank}(\psi)$, does $\text{Ext}^1(\phi,\psi)$ have the structure of a t - module? - How to describe this structure? 2. **Extension groups of t - modules and Drinfeld modules**: - For a t - module $\Phi$ and a Drinfeld module $\psi$, when $\text{rank}(\Phi)>\text{rank}(\psi)$, what is the structure of $\text{Ext}^1(\Phi,\psi)$? - How to generalize this structure to more general cases? 3. **Dual relationships**: - Establish the dual relationship between t - modules and dual t - modules, especially in the case of perfect fields. - Describe the correspondence of the $\text{Ext}^1$ groups between these dual modules. ### Solutions - **Biderivations method**: Represent the elements in the $\text{Ext}^1$ group by using biderivations, thereby establishing the t - module structure. - **Recursive algorithm**: Provide a recursive algorithm to determine the specific t - module structure. - **Dual theorem**: Prove the dual relationship between t - modules and dual t - modules, which is helpful for understanding and calculating the $\text{Ext}^1$ group. ### Main results - **T - module structure**: When $\text{rank}(\phi)>\text{rank}(\psi)$, $\text{Ext}^1(\phi,\psi)$ has the structure of a t - module, and the specific matrix form is given. - **Dual relationship**: Establish the dual relationship between t - modules and dual t - modules, which makes it possible to transfer the calculation of the $\text{Ext}^1$ group from one module to its dual module. - **Six - term exact sequence**: Prove the existence of the "Hom - Ext" six - term exact sequence in the t - module category, which is an important result for non - Abelian categories. ### Application backgrounds - **Arithmetic algebraic geometry**: Drinfeld modules have wide applications in arithmetic algebraic geometry, such as in class field theory, Langlands conjectures, the theory of automorphic forms and Diophantine geometry. - **Cryptography**: Some properties of Drinfeld modules can be used in cryptography, especially in the analogical study of elliptic curve cryptography. In conclusion, this paper provides new theoretical tools and methods by in - depth study of the extension groups of Drinfeld modules and t - modules, which is of great significance for understanding the structures of these modules and their applications in mathematics and cryptography.
