Abstract:We determine the optimal constant in the $L^{2}$ Folland-Stein inequality on the H-type group, which partially confirms the conjecture given by Garofalo and Vassilev (Duke Math. J., 2001). The proof is inspired by the work of Frank and Lieb (Ann. of Math., 2012) and Hang and Wang.

Applying the Gidas–Spruck type estimates, we prove that under suitable conditions, the equation does not have positive solutions. We determine the optimal orders of magnitude on p of these constants as p→1 and p→∞. Abstract: In this paper, we prove the second-order Sobolev inequalities on Cayley graphs of groups of polynomial growth. We use the discrete Concentration-Compactness principle to prove the existence of extremal functions for best constants in supercritical cases. As applications, we get the existence of positive ground state solutions to the $p$-biharmonic equations and the Lane-Emden systems.

Abstract:Let f be in the localized nonisotropic Sobolev space W^1,p_loc( ℍ^n) on the n -dimensional Heisenberg group ℍ n = ℂ n × ℝ, where 1 = p < Q and Q = 2 n + 2 is the homogeneous dimension of ℍ n . Suppose that the subelliptic gradient is gloablly L p integrable, i.e., ∫_ℍ^n| ∇ _ℍ^n f|^p du is finite. We prove a Poincaré inequality for f on the entire space ℍ n . Using this inequality we prove that the function f subtracting a certain constant is in the nonisotropic Sobolev space formed by the completion of C^∞_0( ℍ^n) under the norm of ( ∫_ℍ^n| f |^Qp/Q - p)^Q - p/Qp + ( ∫_ℍ^n| ∇ _ℍ^n f|^p)^1/p . We will also prove that the best constants and extremals for such Poincaré inequalities on ℍ n are the same as those for Sobolev inequalities on ℍ n . Using the results of Jerison and Lee on the sharp constant and extremals for L 2 to L2Q/Q - 2 Sobolev inequality on the Heisenberg group, we thus arrive at the explicit best constant for the aforementioned Poincaré inequality on ℍ n when p = 2. We also derive the lower bound of the best constants for local Poincaré inequalities over metric balls on the Heisenberg group ℍ n .

Abstract:Recently, Dolbeault-Esteban-Figalli-Frank-Loss [20] established the optimal stability of the first-order Sobolev inequality with dimension-dependent constant. Subsequently, Chen-Lu-Tang [18] obtained the optimal stability for the fractional Sobolev inequality of order $s$ when $0<s<1$. However, the optimal stability question for Sobolev inequality of order $s$ when $1<s<\frac{n}{2}$ is still unsolved. Furthermore, the optimal stability for the HLS inequality still remains open. The purpose of this paper is to solve these problems. Our strategy is to first establish the optimal stability for the HLS inequality. The main difficulty lies in establishing the optimal local stability of HLS inequality when $1<s<\frac{n}{2}$. The proof of the local stability when $0<s\leq 1$ using duality does not work for $1<s<n/2$. Thus, we directly establish the optimal local stability for the HLS inequality. The loss of the Hilbert structure of the distance appearing in the stability of the HLS inequality brings much challenge to establishing the desired stability. To achieve our goal, we develop a new strategy based on the $H^{-s}-$decomposition instead of $L^{\frac{2n}{n+2s}}-$decomposition to obtain the local stability of the HLS inequality with $L^{\frac{2n}{n+2s}}-$distance. However, this kind of ``new local stability" adds new difficulties to deduce the global stability from the local stability using the rearrangement flow because of the non-uniqueness and non-continuity of $\|r\|_{\frac{2n}{n+2s}}$ for the rearrangement flow. We establish the norm comparison theorem for $\|r\|_{\frac{2n}{n+2s}}$ and ``new continuity" theorem for the rearrangement flow to overcome this difficulty (see Lemma 3.1, Lemma 3.3 and Lemma 3.5). We also deduce the optimal stability of the Sobolev inequality of order s when $1\le s<\frac{n}{2}$ as an important application.

Remainder Terms for Several Inequalities on Some Groups of Heisenberg-type

Abstract:We give estimates of the remainder terms for several conformally-invariant Sobolev-type inequalities on the Heisenberg group. By considering the variations of associated functionals, we give a stability for two dual inequalities: The fractional Sobolev (FS) and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) inequalities, in terms of distance to the submanifold of extremizers. Then we compare their remainder terms to improve the inequalities in another way. We also compare, in the limit case, the remainder terms of Beckner-Onofri (BO) inequality and its dual logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (Log-HLS) inequality. Besides, we also list without proof some results for other groups of Iwasawa-type. Our results generalize earlier works on Euclidean spaces of Chen et al. (2013) and Dolbeault and Jankowiak (2014) onto some groups of Heisenberg-type. We worked for "almost" all fractions especially for comparing results, and the stability of HLS is also absolutely new, even for Euclidean case.

Attainability of the best constant of Hardy-Sobolev inequality with full boundary singularities

Abstract:We consider a type of Hardy-Sobolev inequality, whose weight function is singular on the whole domain boundary. We are concerned with the attainability of the best constant of such inequality. In dimension two, we link the inequality to a conformally invariant one using the conformal radius of the domain. The best constant of such inequality on a smooth bounded domain is achieved if and only if the domain is non-convex. In higher dimensions, the best constant is achieved if the domain has negative mean curvature somewhere. If the mean curvature vanishes but is non-umbilic somewhere, we also establish the attainability for some special cases. In the other direction, we also show the best constant is not achieved if the domain is sufficiently close to a ball in $C^2$ sense.

A new characterization of $L^2$-domains of holomorphy with null thin complements via $L^2$-optimal conditions

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the $L^2$-optimal condition implies the $L^2$-divisibility of $L^2$-integrable holomorphic functions. As an application, we offer a new characterization of bounded $L^2$-domains of holomorphy with null thin complements using the $L^2$-optimal condition, which appears to be advantageous in addressing a problem proposed by Deng-Ning-Wang. Through this characterization, we show that a domain in a Stein manifold with a null thin complement, admitting an exhaustion of complete Kähler domains, remains Stein. By the way, we construct an $L^2$-optimal domain that does not admit any complete Kähler metric.

Abstract:We discuss the global regularity of solutions f to the Dirichlet problem for minimal graphs in the hyperbolic space when the boundary of the domain Ω⊂ℝ^n has a nonnegative mean curvature and prove an optimal regularity f∈ C^1/n+1(Ω̅). We can improve the Hölder exponent for f if certain combinations of principal curvatures of the boundary do not vanish, a phenomenon observed by F.-H. Lin.

Abstract:We determine the sharp constants for the fractional Sobolev inequalities associated with the conformally invariant fractional powers $\mathcal{L}_{s}(0<s<1)$ of the sublaplacian on H-type groups. From these inequalities we derive a sharp log-Sobolev inequality by considering a limiting case and a sharp Sobolev trace inequality. The later extends to this context the result of Frank, González, Monticelli and Tan (Adv. Math, 2015).

We investigate a class of invariant differential operators by the joint functional calculus of $L$ and $T$. We establish Stein-Tomas type restriction theorems for these operators.
