Abstract:We describe an algorithm for determining a minimal Weierstrass equation for hyperelliptic curves over principal ideal domains. When the curve has a rational Weierstrass point $w_0$, we also give a similar algorithm for determining the minimal Weierstrass equation with respect to $w_0$.

Abstract:Let Vn+1 be an (n + 1)-dimensional real vector space and (F) over tilde = (alpha) over tilde phi(s) s = (beta) over tilde/(alpha) over tilde, be all (alpha, beta)-metric, where (alpha) over tilde is an Euclidean metric and (beta) over tilde is a one form. Minimal surfaces with respect to the Busemann-Hausdorff measure and the Holmes-Thompson measure are called BH-minimal and HT-minimal surfaces, respectively. We give a Bernstein type theorem for minimal graphs in (Vn+1, (F) over tilde) with n <= 7. Let (F) over tilde (b) = (alpha) over tilde phi(s), s = (beta) over tilde/(alpha) over tilde, be a Minkowski metric with b := parallel to(beta) over tilde parallel to(alpha) over tilde. We use a PDE to characterize the BH-minimal and HT-minimal graph over any hyperplane containing the origin in (Vn+1, (F) over tilde (b)). Then we prove that this PDE is an elliptic equation of mean curvature type when b is an element of [0, is an element of) for sonic constant is an element of > 0 and give a Bernstein type theorem for BH-minimal surface in (V-3, (F) over tilde (b)). BH-minimal cones with an isolated singularity at the origin are also given.

For superelliptic curves of the form yn=f(x) at primes p whose residue characteristic is prime to the exponent n we make this explicit.

Abstract:Let $x : M \rightarrow {\mathbb{R}}^3$ be an oriented surface with non-zero Gauss curvature K and mean curvature H. The functional $L(x) = \int_{M}(H^2 - K)/K dM$ is invariant under a 10 dimensional group, called Laguerre group, which includes the isometry group of ${\mathbb{R}}^3$ as subgroup. The critical surfaces of L are called Laguerre minimal surfaces. In this paper we give a method to construct all Laguerre minimal surfaces locally by using one holomorphic function and two meromorphic functions.

Abstract:Based on an improved parameterized integer relation construction method, a complete algorithm is proposed for finding an exact minimal polynomial from its approximate root. It relies on a study of the error controlling for its approximation. We provide a sufficient condition on the precision of the approximation, depending only on the degree and the height of its minimal polynomial. Our result is superior to the existent error controlling on obtaining an exact rational or algebraic number from its approximation. Moreover, some applications are presented and compared with the subsistent methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the study of minimal torsion curves within a fixed geometric isogeny class. For a $\overline{\mathbb{Q}}$-isogeny class $\mathcal{E}$ of elliptic curves and $N \in \mathbb{Z}^+$, we wish to determine the least degree of a point on the modular curve $X_1(N)$ associated to any $E \in \mathcal{E}$. In the present work, we consider the cases where $\mathcal{E}$ is rational, i.e., contains an elliptic curve with rational $j$-invariant, or where $\mathcal{E}$ consists of elliptic curves with complex multiplication (CM). If $N=\ell^k$ is a power of a single prime, we give a complete characterization upon restricting to points of odd degree, and also in the case where $\mathcal{E}$ is CM. We include various partial results in the more general setting.

Abstract:We introduce the Loop Weierstrass Representation for minimal surfaces in Euclidean space and constant mean curvature 1 surfaces in hyperbolic space by applying integral system methods to the Weierstrass and Bryant representations. We unify associated families, dual surfaces and Goursat transformations under the same holomorphic data, we introduce a simple factor dressing for minimal surfaces, and we compute and classify various examples.

Abstract:In this paper we consider genus one equations of degree n, namely a (generalised) binary quartic when n = 2, a ternary cubic when n = 3, and a pair of quaternary quadrics when n = 4. A new definition for the minimality of genus one equations of degree n is introduced. The advantage of this definition is that it does not depend on invariant theory of genus one curves. We prove that this definition coincides with the classical definition of minimality when n <= 4. As an application, we give a new proof for the existence of global minimal genus one equations over number fields of class number 1.

Abstract:In this paper we consider two problems, finding minimal polynomials over Fqm and over Fq of a finite-length sequence over Fqm, in a lattice and its sublattice respectively using lattice theory over polynomial rings. And we deduce a relationship between them by a lattice basis transformation matrix. As a byproduct, we present a new synthesis algorithm for the first problem just using operations in Fq instead of Fqm as in Berlekamp–Massey algorithm.

Abstract:In this paper we give an algorithm for computing a bidirectional minimal polynomial (a characteristic polynomial with not only minimal degree but also a non-zero constant term) of a given finite-length multisequence by modifying a lattice-based linear feedback shift register synthesis algorithm for multisequences. We also describe the set of all such polynomials for a multisequence.

Abstract:An algorithm is presented to compute the self-intersection curves of a rational ruled surface based on the theory of @m-bases. The algorithm starts by constructing the principal subresultants for a @m-basis of the rational ruled surface. The principal subresultant coefficients provide information about not only the parametric loci of the self-intersection curves, but also the orders of the self-intersection curves. Based on this observation, an efficient algorithm is provided to compute the parametric loci of the self-intersection curves as well as their corresponding orders. The isolated singular points of the rational ruled surface are also computed.
Computing Euler factors of genus 2 curves at odd primes of almost good reduction

Abstract:We present an efficient algorithm to compute the Euler factor of a genus 2 curve C/Q at an odd prime p that is of bad reduction for C but of good reduction for the Jacobian of C (a prime of ``almost good'' reduction). Our approach is based on the theory of cluster pictures introduced by Dokchitser, Dokchitser, Maistret, and Morgan, which allows us to reduce the problem to a short, explicit computation over Z and Fp, followed by a point-counting computation on two elliptic curves over Fp, or a single elliptic curve over Fp^2. A key feature of our approach is that we avoid the need to compute a regular model for C. This allows us to efficiently compute many examples that are infeasible to handle using the algorithms currently available in computer algebra systems such as Magma and Pari/GP.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the elliptic Weingarten surfaces of minimal type immersed in the warped product space $\mathbb{R} \times_{h} \mathbb{R}$, when $h$ is a $C^{1}$-function in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$ with radial symmetry. That is, surfaces whose mean curvature $H$ and extrinsic curvature $K$ satisfy a relationship $H=f(H^{2}-K)$ where $f \in C^{1}(-\epsilon,+\infty)$ with $\epsilon > 0$, $f(0)=0$ and $4t(f'(t))^{2} < 1$ for $t \in (-\epsilon,\infty)$. We show, under some assumptions about the warping function $h$, the existence and uniqueness of the rotationally-invariant examples of elliptic Weingarten of minimal type surfaces immersed in $\mathbb{R} \times_{h} \mathbb{R}$ as well as we study the geometric behavior of its generating curve.

Abstract:Let $\Sigma$ be a complete Riemannian manifold of nonnegative Ricci curvature. We prove a Liouville-type theorem: every smooth solution $u$ to minimal hypersurface equation on $\Sigma$ is a constant provided $u$ has sublinear growth for its negative part. Here, the sublinear growth condition is sharp. Our proof relies on a gradient estimate for minimal graphs over $\Sigma$ with small linear growth of the negative parts of graphic functions via iteration.
