Abstract:Context : The peculiar hot star Theta Car in the open cluster IC2602 is a blue straggler as well as a single-line binary of short period (2.2d). Aims : Its high-energy properties are not well known, though X-rays can provide useful constraints on the energetic processes at work in binaries as well as in peculiar, single objects. Methods : We present the analysis of a 50ks exposure taken with the XMM-Newton observatory. It provides medium as well as high-resolution spectroscopy. Results : Our high-resolution spectroscopy analysis reveals a very soft spectrum with multiple temperature components (1--6MK) and an X-ray flux slightly below the `canonical' value (log[L_X(0.1-10.)/L_{BOL}] ~ -7). The X-ray lines appear surprisingly narrow and unshifted, reminiscent of those of beta Cru and tau Sco. Their relative intensities confirm the anomalous abundances detected in the optical domain (C strongly depleted, N strongly enriched, O slightly depleted). In addition, the X-ray data favor a slight depletion in neon and iron, but they are less conclusive for the magnesium abundance (solar-like?). While no significant changes occur during the XMM-Newton observation, variability in the X-ray domain is detected on the long-term range. The formation radius of the X-ray emission is loosely constrained to <5 R_sol, which allows for a range of models (wind-shock, corona, magnetic confinement,...) though not all of them can be reconciled with the softness of the spectrum and the narrowness of the lines.

Abstract:Abstract Rhodopsin, the vertebrate photoreceptor, is a prototypic molecule in the largest family of G- protein coupled receptors (GPCR). Like all receptors of this family, it contains three distinct domains: the cytoplasmic (intracellular) domain that is involved in all the protein-protein interactions; the transmembrane (TM) domain where the signal transduction begins, by light- catalysed isomerization of 11-cis-retinal to all trans-retinal, and the intradiscal domain which appears to be involved in a specific tertiary structure. The main focus of this talk is to describe efforts to understand specific structure and function in each domain. The main findings to be presented are as follows: 1. Intradiscal domain contains a globular tertiary structure. A central feature is a disulfide bond (Cys110-Cys187) which is conserved in most of the known GPCR. 2. The correct folding in vivo requires the formation of the above disulfide bond. Misfolding resulting in non-retinal binding is frequently caused by Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) point mutations in the intradiscal and the TM domain. 3. In vivo folding studies, using RP mutations in every one of the seven helices, have shown that the packing of the helices in the TM domain and folding to form the intradiscal tertiary structure are coupled. 4. Cysteine mutagenesis has been used systematically to study the tertiary structure and light-dependent changes throughout the cytoplasmic face by combination of biochemical and biophysical studies. In particular, EPR spectroscopy following spin labeling of selected double cysteine mutants has shown movements in helices, including tilting, following retinal isomerization. 5. Large scale expression of mutants has allowed application of both (19)F-NMR (solution) and MAS solid state NMR (in collaboration with Dr. Steve Smith's group, SUNY, Stony Brook). Results of current work are promising for detailed study of the conformational change. Finally, a unifying hypothesis, which is termed the central dogma in the GPCR field, will be proposed. This states that despite the enormous variation in "accessory" structural details, the principal mechanism of signal transduction starting with pertubation in the seven helical bundle is fundamentally the same in all GPCRs. Experiments to test helix movements, the first step in signal transduction following ligand binding in two adrenergic receptors are now feasible. The patterns of helix movements in them will be compared with the pattern demonstrated for rhodopsin and its mutants.
Probing Neurochemical Structure and Function of Retinal on Bipolar Cells with A Transgenic Mouse

Abstract:Retinal ON bipolar cells make up about 70% of all bipolar cells. Glutamate hyperpolarizes these cells by binding to the metabotropic glutamate receptor mGluR6, activating the G‐protein Go1, and closing an unidentified cation channel. To facilitate investigation of ON bipolar cells, we here report on the production of a transgenic mouse (Grm6‐GFP) in which enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP), under control of mGluR6 promoter, was expressed in all and only ON bipolar cells. We used the mouse to determine density of ON bipolar cells, which in central retina was 29,600 cells/mm2. We further sorted the fluorescent cells and created a pure ON bipolar cDNA library that was negative for photoreceptor unique genes. With this library, we determined expression of 27 genes of interest. We obtained positive transcripts for Go interactors: regulators of G‐protein signaling (RGS), Ret‐RGS1 (a variant of RGS20), RGS16, RGS7, purkinje cell protein 2 (PCP2, also called L7 or GPSM4), synembryn (RIC‐8), LGN (GPSM2), RAP1GAP, and Gβ5; cGMP modulators: guanylyl cyclase (GC) 1α1, GC1β1, phosphodiesterase (PDE) 1C, and PDE9A; and channels: inwardly rectifying potassium channel Kir2.4, transient receptor potential TRPC2, and sperm‐specific cation channels CatSper 2–4. The following transcripts were not found in our library: AGS3 (GPSM1), RGS10, RGS19 (GAIP), calbindin, GC1α2, GC1β2, PDE5, PDE2A, amiloride‐sensitive sodium channel ACCN4, and CatSper1. We then localized Kir2.4 to several cell types and showed that, in ON bipolar cells, the channel concentrates in their dendritic tips. The channels and modulators found in ON bipolar cells likely shape their light response. Additional uses of the Grm6‐GFP mouse are also discussed. J. Comp. Architecture and Activity-Mediated Refinement of Axonal Projections from a Mosaic of Genetically Identified Retinal Ganglion Cells

Abstract:Our understanding of how mammalian sensory circuits are organized and develop has long been hindered by the lack of genetic markers of neurons with discrete functions. Here, we report a transgenic mouse selectively expressing GFP in a complete mosaic of transient OFF-alpha retinal ganglion cells (tOFF-alphaRGCs). This enabled us to relate the mosaic spacing, dendritic anatomy, and electrophysiology of these RGCs to their complete map of projections in the brain. We find that tOFF-alphaRGCs project exclusively to the superior colliculus (SC) and dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus and are restricted to a specific laminar depth within each of these targets. The axons of tOFF-alphaRGC are also organized into columns in the SC. Both laminar and columnar specificity develop through axon refinement. Disruption of cholinergic retinal waves prevents the emergence of columnar- but not laminar-specific tOFF-alphaRGC connections. Our findings reveal that in a genetically identified sensory map, spontaneous activity promotes synaptic specificity by segregating axons arising from RGCs of the same subtype.

[Hereditary diseases with primary and secondary DNA repair defects].

Abstract:Two basic ways of DNA repair are discussed. The first one is nucleotide excision repair after exposure to UV light regarded on using examples of various eukaryotic cells, detailed description of human diseases related to genetic defects of this process (xeroderma pigmentosum, Cockayne's syndrome, and trychotiodystrophy). Contemporary ideas on genetics of excision repair are presented. Relevant genes and their mutations are shown. The second one is a process of double strand breaks repair regarded as the basic type of lethal damage, provoked by ionizing radiation. This process was first described for eukaryotes, and then it was considered in relation to some diseases, such as ataxia-telangiectasia (Louis-Bar's syndrome), Nijmegen chromosome breakage syndrome, Bloom's syndrome, Fancomi's anemia, and progerias, for which hypersensitivity to gamma-rays and different chemicals are typical. Contemporary views concerning the involvement of repair processes in the aforementioned diseases are presented and discussed.

Abstract:Synaptic ribbons, recognized for their pivotal role in conveying sensory signals in the visual pathway, are intricate assemblages of presynaptic proteins. Complexin (CPX) regulates synaptic vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter release by modulating the assembly of the soluble NSF attachment protein receptor (SNARE) complex, ensuring precise signal transmission in the retina and the broader central nervous system (CNS). While CPX1 or CPX2 isoforms (CPX1/2) play crucial roles in classical CNS synapses, CPX3 or CPX4 isoforms (CPX3/4) specifically regulate retinal ribbon synapses. These isoforms are essential for sustaining synaptic plasticity related to light signaling, adapting to changes in circadian rhythms, and dynamically regulating visual function under varying light conditions. This review explores the regulation of synaptic vesicle release by CPX in both the CNS and retinal ribbon synapses, with a focus on the mechanisms governing CPX3/4 function in the retina. Additionally, by reviewing the role of CPX and ribbon synapse dysfunction in non-retinal diseases, we further hypothesize the potential mechanisms of CPX in retinal diseases and propose therapeutic strategies targeting CPX to address retinal and CNS disorders associated with synaptic dysfunction.

Abstract:Study of retina specific genes would offer insights into retinal diseases and treatment. Based on the information from the gene expression profiles of mouse retinas, we here identified a m itochondria-localized g lutamic a cid- r ich p rotein (MGARP/OSAP) as one of the highly expressed proteins in retina. Sequence analysis revealed that mouse and rat MGARPs have an extra insertion of four consecutive amino acid repeats at the C-terminus, while other homologues do not. MGARP was demonstrated to be localized to the mitochondria and overexpression of MGARP missing N-terminal region causes severe mitochondrial aggregation, implying an important role of MGARP in maintaining mitochondrial morphology. MGARP is highly expressed in mitochondria-rich layers, including inner segment of the photoreceptor, outer plexiform layer and ganglion cell layers of mouse retina. Far-UV CD spectrum analysis suggested that MGARP exhibits a large area of intrinsic disorder and the unusual position of its Tyr fluorescence suggested that Tyr residues in MGARP might form excimer and exist in an ionized state. These findings implied that MGARP be a good candidate for assembling certain ion channels on mitochondria membrane and have great potential to be involved in retinal energetic metabolism through mitochondria related pathway.
Dendritic and axonal targeting patterns of a genetically-specified class of retinal ganglion cells that participate in image-forming circuits

Abstract:BackgroundThere are numerous functional types of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), each participating in circuits that encode a specific aspect of the visual scene. This functional specificity is derived from distinct RGC morphologies and selective synapse formation with other retinal cell types; yet, how these properties are established during development remains unclear. Islet2 (Isl2) is a LIM-homeodomain transcription factor expressed in the developing retina, including approximately 40% of all RGCs, and has previously been implicated in the subtype specification of spinal motor neurons. Based on this, we hypothesized that Isl2+ RGCs represent a related subset that share a common function.ResultsWe morphologically and molecularly characterized Isl2+ RGCs using a transgenic mouse line that expresses GFP in the cell bodies, dendrites and axons of Isl2+ cells (Isl2-GFP). Isl2-GFP RGCs have distinct morphologies and dendritic stratification patterns within the inner plexiform layer and project to selective visual nuclei. Targeted filling of individual cells reveals that the majority of Isl2-GFP RGCs have dendrites that are monostratified in layer S3 of the IPL, suggesting they are not ON-OFF direction-selective ganglion cells. Molecular analysis shows that most alpha-RGCs, indicated by expression of SMI-32, are also Isl2-GFP RGCs. Isl2-GFP RGCs project to most retino-recipient nuclei during early development, but specifically innervate the dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus and superior colliculus (SC) at eye opening. Finally, we show that the segregation of Isl2+ and Isl2- RGC axons in the SC leads to the segregation of functional RGC types.ConclusionsTaken together, these data suggest that Isl2+ RGCs comprise a distinct class and support a role for Isl2 as an important component of a transcription factor code specifying functional visual circuits. Furthermore, this study describes a novel genetically-labeled mouse line that will be a valuable resource in future investigations of the molecular mechanisms of visual circuit formation.

Abstract:AMPA receptors (AMPARs) are the major mediators of fast excitatory neurotransmission in the retina as in other parts of the brain. In most neurons, the synaptic targeting, pharmacology, and function of AMPARs are influenced by auxiliary subunits including the transmembrane AMPA receptor regulatory proteins (TARPs). However, it is unclear which TARP subunits are present at retinal synapses and how they influence receptor localization and function. Here, we show that TARPɣ2 (stargazin) is associated with AMPARs in the synaptic layers of the mouse, rabbit, macaque, and human retina. In most species, TARPɣ2 expression was high where starburst amacrine cells (SACs) ramify and transcriptomic analyses suggest correspondingly high gene expression in mouse and human SACs. Synaptic expression of GluA2, GluA3, and GluA4 was significantly reduced in a mouse mutant lacking TARPɣ2 expression (stargazer mouse; stg), whereas GluA1 levels were unaffected. AMPAR-mediated light-evoked EPSCs in ON-SACs from stg mice were ∼30% smaller compared with heterozygous littermates. There was also loss of a transient ON pathway-driven GABAergic input to ON-SACs in stg mutants. Direction-selective ganglion cells in the stg mouse showed normal directional tuning, but their surround inhibition and thus spatial tuning was reduced. Our results indicate that TARPɣ2 is required for normal synaptic expression of GluA2, GluA3, and GluA4 in the inner retina. The presence of residual AMPAR expression in the stargazer mutant suggests that other TARP subunits may compensate in the absence of TARPɣ2.

Abstract:A genetic map is an arrangement of genes in which the distance between any pair of genes is proportional to the average number of exchanges between them. Such a map will correspond to the actual distribution of genes on a chromosome only if the probability of exchange and recovery of recombinants is uniform along the chromosome. It was the purpose of the present investigation to detect any extensive departure from uniformity in the probability of exchange or recovery along the chromosome of bacteriophage A. It has been shown that recombination in bacteriophage h occurs by breakage and joining of the double-stranded DNA molecule which composes the phage chromosome (MESELSON Unexpected features of the results of MESELSON and WEIGLE (1961) led to this research. It was noticed that the distribution of parental DNA among progeny phages of certain genotypes was not as expected from random breakage of the chromosome during recombination. The results reported here elaborate and help to clarify those observations. Crosses were carried out between heavy phages, labeled with C13N15, and light phages. One of the parents was marked at or near one end of the chromosome. The density distribution of the phages with the marker originally in the light parent was then observed in a CsCl density gradient. The results suggest that the production of phages recombinant in a certain region of the chromosome is greatly depressed. In addition, the left end of the h chromosome has been identified as close to the marker sus11, the farthest known marker on that side of the genetic map. This, in conjunction with the identification of the right end of the chromosome near mi (MESELSON WEIGLE 1961), means that essentially the whole h chromosome is included in the known genetic map.

Abstract:To sense light, animals often utilize mechanisms that rely on visual pigments composed of opsin and retinal. The photon-induced isomerization of 11-cis-retinal to the all-trans configuration triggers phototransduction cascades, resulting in a change in the membrane potential of the photoreceptor. In mollusks, the most abundant opsin in the eye is Gq-coupled rhodopsin (Gq-rhodopsin). The Gq-rhodopsin-based visual pigment is bistable, with the regeneration of 11-cis-retinal occurring in a light-dependent manner without leaving the opsin moiety. 11-cis-retinal is also regenerated by the action of retinochrome in the cell bodies. Retinal binding protein (RALBP) mediates retinal transport between Gq-rhodopsin and retinochrome in the cytoplasm. However, recent studies have identified additional bistable opsins in mollusks, including Opn5 and xenopsin. It is unknown whether these bistable opsins require RALBP and retinochrome for the continuous regeneration of 11-cis-retinal. In the present study, we examined the expression of RALBP and retinochrome in the photoreceptors expressing Opn5 or Xenopsin in the heterobranch gastropods Limax and Peronia. Our findings revealed that retinochrome, but not RALBP, was present in some of the Opn5A-positive brain photosensory neurons of Limax. The ciliary cells in the dorsal eye of Peronia, which express Xenopsin2, lacked both retinochrome and RALBP. Therefore, bistable opsins do not necessarily depend on the RALBP-retinochrome system in a cell. We also examined the expression of other proteins that support visual function, such as β-arrestin, Gq, and Go, in all types of photoreceptors in these animals, and uncovered differences in the molecular composition among the photoreceptors.
Rhodopsin: the functional significance of asn-linked glycosylation and other post-translational modifications

Abstract:Rhodopsin, the G-protein coupled receptor in retinal rod photoreceptors, is a highly conserved protein that undergoes several types of post-translational modifications. These modifications are essential to maintain the protein's structure as well as its proper function in the visual transduction cycle. Rhodopsin is N-glycosylated at Asn-2 and Asn-15 in its extracellular N-terminal domain. Mutations within the glycosylation consensus sequences of rhodopsin cause autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa, a disease that leads to blindness. Several groups have studied the role of rhodopsin's N-linked glycan chains in protein structure and function using a variety of approaches. These include the generation of a transgenic mouse model, study of a naturally occurring mutant animal model, in vivo pharmacological inhibition of glycosylation, and in vitro analyses using transfected COS-1 cells. These studies have provided insights into the possible role of rhodopsin glycosylation, but have yielded conflicting results.
Integrative RNA-seq and ATAC-seq Analysis of Retinitis Pigmentosa Caused by PDE6 Mutation

Abstract:Abstract Purpose : Inhibition of PARP1 could relieve PDE6 mutation-induced Retinitis pigmentosa (RP). However, the mechanism related with PARP1 overexpression in the RP has not been clarified. We attempted to explore the potential regulatory mechanism related with PARP1 underlying RP. Methods : ATAC-seq and RNA-seq were preformed for retina tissues of C3H and rd1 mice. The differential expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, followed by PARP1-DEG coexpression network, and PPI network construction. GO-BP and pathway enrichment of DEGs of interest were performed by clusterprofiler software. The overlapped genes that might play regulatory role in PARP1 expression were mined by integrated analysis of RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data. Results : Total 1061 DEGs were identified between C3H and rd1 group. Co-expression network was constructed with 313 PARP1-gene coexpression pairs. The down-regulated DEGs were closely related with visual perception, light stimulus related biological process, while the up-regulated DEGs were significantly enriched in phototransduction and PPAR signaling pathway. PPI network was constructed with 202 nodes and 375 edges, which was clustered into 3 modules. Module 1 genes were closely related with detection of light stimulus, visual perception related biological process and phototransduction pathway (involved with Gnat1/Guca1b/Gnat2/Sag/Pde6g). By integrated analysis of the RNA-seq and ATAC-seq, the overlapped up-regulated genes were Asxl3 and Nyap2, while the down-regulated genes were Tmem136 and Susd3. Conclusion : Gnat1 may play a key role in RP development by interacting with PARP1. Susd3 may play a regulatory role in PARP1 expression and affect RP formation.
Impaired beta-cell function and inadequate compensatory increases in beta-cell mass after intrauterine growth restriction in sheep.

Abstract:Poor growth before birth increases the risk of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) and impairs insulin secretion relative to sensitivity. We investigated the effects of intrauterine growth restriction in sheep on insulin secretion, beta-cell mass, and function from before birth to young adulthood and its molecular basis. Pancreas was collected from control and placentally restricted sheep as fetuses (d 143 gestation), lambs (aged 42 d), and young adults (aged 556 d), following independent measures of in vivo insulin secretion and sensitivity. beta-Cells and islets were counted after immunohistochemical staining for insulin. In lambs, gene expression was measured by RT-PCR and expressed relative to 18S. beta-Cell mass correlated positively with fetal weight but negatively with birth weight in adult males. Glucose-stimulated insulin disposition and beta-cell function correlated negatively with fetal weight but positively with birth weight in adult males. Placental restriction increased pancreatic expression of IGF-II and IGF-I but decreased that of voltage-gated calcium channel, alpha1D subunit (CACNA1D) in lambs. In male lambs, pancreatic IGF-II and insulin receptor expression correlated strongly and positively with beta-cell mass and CACNA1D expression with glucose-stimulated insulin disposition. Restricted growth before birth in the sheep does not impair insulin secretion, relative to sensitivity, before birth or in young offspring. IGF-II and insulin receptor are implicated as key molecular regulators of beta-cell mass compensation, whereas impaired expression of the voltage-gated calcium channel may underlie impaired beta-cell function after intrauterine growth restriction. With aging, the insulin secretory capacity of the beta-cell is impaired in males, and their increases in beta-cell mass are inadequate to maintain adequate insulin secretion relative to sensitivity.

Abstract:Inherited retinal degenerative diseases (IRDs) are a group of rare diseases that lead to a progressive loss of photoreceptor cells and, ultimately, blindness. The overactivation of cGMP-dependent protein kinase G (PKG), one of the key effectors of cGMP-signaling, was previously found to be involved in photoreceptor cell death and was studied in murine IRD models to elucidate the pathophysiology of retinal degeneration. However, PKG is a serine/threonine kinase (STK) with several hundred potential phosphorylation targets and, so far, little is known about the specificity of the target interaction and downstream effects of PKG activation. Here, we carried out both the kinome activity and phosphoproteomic profiling of organotypic retinal explant cultures derived from the rd10 mouse model for IRD. After treating the explants with the PKG inhibitor CN03, an overall decrease in peptide phosphorylation was observed, with the most significant decrease occurring in seven peptides, including those from the known PKG substrate cyclic-AMP-response-element-binding CREB, but also Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase (CaMK) peptides and TOP2A. The phosphoproteomic data, in turn, revealed proteins with decreased phosphorylation, as well as proteins with increased phosphorylation. The integration of both datasets identified common biological networks altered by PKG inhibition, which included kinases predominantly from the so-called AGC and CaMK families of kinases (e.g., PKG1, PKG2, PKA, CaMKs, RSKs, and AKTs). A pathway analysis confirmed the role of CREB, Calmodulin, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and CREB modulation. Among the peptides and pathways that showed reduced phosphorylation activity, the substrates CREB, CaMK2, and CaMK4 were validated for their retinal localization and activity, using immunostaining and immunoblotting in the rd10 retina. In summary, the integrative analysis of the kinome activity and phosphoproteomic data revealed both known and novel PKG substrates in a murine IRD model. This data establishes a basis for an improved understanding of the biological pathways involved in cGMP-mediated photoreceptor degeneration. Moreover, validated PKG targets like CREB and CaMKs merit exploration as novel (surrogate) biomarkers to determine the effects of a clinical PKG-targeted treatment for IRDs.

Integrative RNA-seq and ATAC-seq analyses of phosphodiesterase 6 mutation-induced retinitis pigmentosa

Abstract:Purpose: Inhibition of poly-ADP-ribose polymerase 1 (PARP1) could relieve phosphodiesterase 6 mutation-induced retinitis pigmentosa (RP). However, the mechanism related to PARP1 overexpression in the RP has not been clarified. We attempted to explore the potential mechanism related to PARP1 regulating RP. Methods: ATAC-seq and RNA-seq were performed for retina tissues of C3H and rd1 mice. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, followed by the construction of PARP1-DEG co-expression and protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks. Gene ontology-biological process and pathway enrichment of DEGs were performed by clusterProfiler software. The overlapped genes that might play regulatory roles in PARP1 expression were mined by integrated analysis of RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data. Results: A total of 1061 DEGs were identified between C3H and rd1 group. Co-expression network was constructed with 313 PARP1-gene co-expression pairs. The down-regulated DEGs were closely related to visual perception and light stimulus-related biological process, while the up-regulated DEGs were significantly enriched in phototransduction and PPAR signaling pathway. PPI network was constructed with 202 nodes and 375 edges, which was clustered into 3 modules. Module 1 genes were closely related to detection of light stimulus, visual perception related biological process and phototransduction pathway (involved with Gnat1/Guca1b/Gnat2/Sag/Pde6g). By integrated analysis of the RNA-seq and ATAC-seq, the overlapped up-regulated genes were Asxl3 and Nyap2, while the down-regulated genes were Tmem136 and Susd3. Conclusion: Gnat1 may play a key role in RP development by interacting with PARP1. Susd3 may play a regulatory role in PARP1 expression and affect RP formation.

Abstract:Visual impairment caused by retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axon damage or degeneration affects millions of individuals throughout the world. While some progress has been made in promoting long-distance RGC axon regrowth following injury, it remains unclear whether RGC axons can properly reconnect with their central targets to restore visual function. Additionally, the regenerative capacity of many RGC subtypes remains unknown in part due to a lack of available genetic tools. Here, we use a new mouse line, Sema6ACreERT2, that labels On direction-selective RGCs (oDSGCs) and characterize the survival and regenerative potential of these cells following optic nerve crush (ONC). In parallel, we use a previously characterized mouse line, Opn4CreERT2, to answer these same questions for M1 intrinsically photosensitive RGCs (ipRGCs). We find that both M1 ipRGCs and oDSGCs are resilient to injury but do not display long-distance axon regrowth following Lin28a overexpression. Unexpectedly, we found that M1 ipRGC, but not oDSGC, intraretinal axons exhibit ectopic branching and are misaligned near the optic disc between one- and three-weeks following injury. Additionally, we observe that numerous ectopic presynaptic specializations associate with misguided ipRGC intraretinal axons. Taken together, these results reveal insights into the injury response of M1 ipRGCs and oDSGCs, providing a foundation for future efforts seeking to restore visual system function following injury.
