Abstract:In this paper, we study the Nakano-positivity and dual-Nakano-positivity of certain adjoint vector bundles associated to ample vector bundles. As applications, we get new vanishing theorems about ample vector bundles. For example, we prove that if $E$ is an ample vector bundle over a compact K\"ahler manifold $X$, $S^kE\ts \det E$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$. Moreover, $H^{n,q}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=H^{q,n}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=0$ for any $q\geq 1$. In particular, if $(E,h)$ is a Griffiths-positive vector bundle, the naturally induced Hermitian vector bundle $(S^kE\ts \det E, S^kh\ts \det h)$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a proper Kähler fibration $f \colon X \to Y$ and a singular Hermitian line bundle $(L, h)$ on $X$ with semi-positive curvature. We prove that the direct image sheaf $f_{*}(\mathcal{O}_{X}(K_{X/Y}+L) \otimes \mathcal{I}(h))$, equipped with the Narasimhan-Simha metric, is singular Nakano semi-positive in the sense that the $\overline{\partial}$-equation can be solved with optimal $L^{2}$-estimate. Our proof does not rely on the theory of Griffiths positivity for the direct image sheaf.

Abstract:We investigate the positivity properties of the direct image $f_{\ast}(K_{X/Y} \otimes L)$ of the adjoint line bundle associated with a big and nef line bundle $L$, under a smooth fibration $f: X\to Y$ between projective varieties. We show that the vector bundle $f_{\ast}(K_{X/Y} \otimes L)$ is big.

Abstract:In this thesis, we consider geometric properties of vector bundles arising from algebraic and Hermitian geometry. On vector bundles in algebraic geometry, such as ample, nef and globally generated vector bundles, we are able to construct positive Hermitian metrics in different senses(e.g. Griffiths-positive, Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive) by L2-method and deduce many new vanishing theorems for them by analytic method instead of the Le Potier-Leray spectral sequence method. On Hermitian manifolds, we find that the second Ricci curvature tensors of various metric connections are closely related to the geometry of Hermitian manifolds. We can derive various vanishing theorems for Hermitian manifolds and also for complex vector bundles over Hermitian manifolds by their second Ricci curvature tensors. We also introduce a natural geometric flow on Hermitian manifolds by using the second Ricci curvature tensor.

Abstract:Let p : chi -> S be a proper Kahler fibration and epsilon -> chi a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle. As motivated by the work of Berndtsson ([Bern09]), by using basic Hodge theory, we derive several general curvature formulas for the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) for general Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle epsilon in a simple way. A straightforward application is that, if the family chi -> S is infinitesimally trivial and Hermitian vector bundle epsilon is Nakano-negative along the base S, then the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) is Nakano-negative. We also use these curvature formulas to study the moduli space of projectively flat vector bundles with positive first Chern classes and obtain that, if the Chern curvature of direct image p(*)(K-X circle times E)-of a positive projectively flat family (E, h(t))(t is an element of D) -> X-vanishes, then the curvature forms of this family are connected by holomorphic automorphisms of the pair (X, E).

Abstract:In this article, we get properties for singular (dual) Nakano semi-positivity and obtain singular type vanishing theorem involving $L^2$-subsheaves on weakly pseudoconvex manifolds by $L^2$-estimates and $L^2$-type Dolbeault isomorphisms. As applications, Fujita's conjecture type theorem with singular Hermitian metrics is presented.

Abstract:This paper studies the approximation of singular Hermitian metrics on vector bundles using smooth Hermitian metrics with Nakano semi-positive curvature on Zariski open sets. We show that singular Hermitian metrics capable of this approximation satisfy Nakano semi-positivity as defined through the $\overline{\partial} $-equation with optimal $L^2$-estimates. Furthermore, for a projective fibration $f \colon X \to Y$ with a line bundle $L$ on $X$, we provide a specific condition under which the Narasimhan-Simha metric on the direct image sheaf $f_{*}\mathcal{O}_{X}(K_{X/Y}+L)$ admits this approximation. As an application, we establish several vanishing theorems.

An $L^2$ Dolbeault lemma on higher direct images and its application

Abstract:Given a proper holomorphic surjective morphism $f:X\rightarrow Y$ from a compact Kähler manifold to a compact Kähler manifold, and a Nakano semipositive holomorphic vector bundle $E$ on $X$, we prove Kollár type vanishing theorems on cohomologies with coefficients in $R^qf_\ast(\omega_X(E))\otimes F$, where $F$ is a $k$-positive vector bundle on $Y$. The main inputs in the proof are the deep results on the Nakano semipositivity of the higher direct images due to Berndtsson and Mourougane-Takayama, and an $L^2$-Dolbeault resolution of the higher direct image sheaf $R^qf_\ast(\omega_X(E))$, which is of interest in itself.

Abstract:We consider the curvature strict positivity of the direct image bundle associated to a pseudoconvex family of bounded domains. The main result is that the curvature of the direct image bundle associated to a strictly pseudoconvex family of bounded circular domains or Reinhardut domains are strictly positive in the sense of Nakano, even if the weight functions are not strictly plurisubharmonic. This result gives a new geometric insight about the property of strict pseudoconvexity, and has some applications in complex analysis and convex analysis. We investigate that the main result implies a remarkable result of Berndtsson which states that, for an ample vector bundle $E$ over a compact complex manifold $X$ and any $k\geq 0$, the bundle $S^kE\otimes\det E$ admits a Hermitian metric whose curvature is strictly positive in the sense of Nakano, where $S^kE$ is the $k$-th symmetric product of $E$. The two main ingredients in the argument of the main theorems are Berndtsson's estimate of the lower bound of curvature of direct image bundles and Deng-Ning-Wang-Zhou's characterization of the curvature Nakano positivity of Hermitian vector bundles in terms of $L^2$-estimate of $\bar\partial$.

Abstract:In this paper, we define two types of strongly decomposable positivity, which serve as generalizations of (dual) Nakano positivity and are stronger than the decomposable positivity introduced by S. Finski. We provide the criteria for strongly decomposable positivity of type I and type II and prove that the Schur forms of a strongly decomposable positive vector bundle of type I are weakly positive, while the Schur forms of a strongly decomposable positive vector bundle of type II are positive. These answer a question of Griffiths affirmatively for strongly decomposably positive vector bundles. Consequently, we present an algebraic proof of the positivity of Schur forms for (dual) Nakano positive vector bundles, which was initially proven by S. Finski.

On the effective generation of direct images of pluricanonical bundles in mixed characteristic

Abstract:We present an effective global generation result for direct images of pluricanonical bundles in mixed characteristic. This is a mixed characteristic analog of Ejiri's theorem in positive characteristic and the theorem of Popa and Schnell regarding their Fujita-type conjecture in characteristic zero. As an application, we establish a weak positivity statement for the relative canonical sheaf of a smooth morphism in mixed characteristic.

Abstract:We study the notion of algebraic tangent cones at singularities of reflexive sheaves. These correspond to extensions of reflexive sheaves across a negative divisor. We show the existence of optimal extensions in a constructive manner, and we prove the uniqueness in a suitable sense. The results here are an algebro-geometric counterpart of our previous study on singularities of Hermitian-Yang-Mills connections.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the curvature strict positivity of direct image bundles (vector bundles) associated to a strictly pseudoconvex family of bounded domains. The main result is that the curvature of the direct image bundle associated to a strictly pseudoconvex family of bounded domains is strictly positive in the sense of Nakano even if the curvature of the original vector bundle is just Nakano positive. Based on our (I and my coauthors) previous results, this result further demonstrates that strictly pseudoconvex domains and pseudoconvex domains have very different geometric properties. To consider the curvature strict positivity, we will first construct a curvature formula for a direct image bundle, then the curvature strict positivity will be a simple consequence of it. As applications to convex analysis, we get a corresponding version of Prékopa's Theorem, i.e., we get the curvature strict positivity of a strictly convex family of bounded domains. In the last, we give a flatness criterion for the direct image bundles.

Abstract:We prove the precise inversion of adjunction formula for finite linear group quotients of complete intersection varieties defined by semi-invariant equations. As an application, we prove the semi-continuity of minimal log discrepancies for them. These results extend the results in our first paper, where we prove the same results for complete intersection varieties defined by ``invariant equations".

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the structure theorem for smooth projective varieties with nef tangent bundle to projective klt varieties whose tangent sheaf is either positively curved or almost nef. Specifically, we show that such a variety $X$, up to a finite quasi-étale cover, admits a rationally connected fibration $X \to A$ onto an abelian variety $A$. For the proof, we develop the theory of positivity of coherent sheaves on projective varieties. As applications, we establish some relations between the geometric properties and positivity of tangent sheaves.

Abstract:The Kodaira embedding theorem provides an effective characterization of projectivity of a Kahler manifold in terms the second cohomology. X Yang (2018) proved that any compact Kahler manifold with positive holomorphic sectional curvature must be projective. This gives a metric criterion of the projectivity in terms of its curvature. We prove that any compact Kahler manifold with positive 2(nd) scalar curvature (which is the average of holomorphic sectional curvature over 2-dimensional subspaces of the tangent space) must be projective. In view of generic 2-tori being nonabelian, this new curvature characterization is sharp in certain sense.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective manifold with $\dim _{\mathbb{C}}X=n$ . We show that if a line bundle $L$ is $(n-1)$ -ample, then it is $(n-1)$ -positive. This is a partial converse to the Andreotti–Grauert theorem. As an application, we show that a projective manifold $X$ is uniruled if and only if there exists a Hermitian metric $\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}$ on $X$ such that its Ricci curvature $\text{Ric}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D714})$ has at least one positive eigenvalue everywhere.
