Abstract:Objectives: The role of inorganic content on physical properties of resin composites is well known. However, its influence on polymerization stress development has not been established. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the influence of inorganic fraction on polymerization stress and its determinants, namely, volumetric shrinkage, elastic modulus and degree of conversion. Methods: Eight experimental composites containing 1:1 BisGMA (bisphenylglycidyl dimethacrylate):TEGDMA (triethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (in mol) and barium glass at increasing concentrations from 25 to 60 vol.% (5% increments) were tested. Stress was determined in a universal test machine using acrylic as bonding substrate. Nominal polymerization stress was obtained diving the maximum load by the cross-surface area. Shrinkage was measured using a water picnometer. Elastic modulus was obtained by three-point flexural test. Degree of conversion was determined by FT-Raman spectroscopy. Results: Polymerization stress and shrinkage showed inverse relationships with filler content (R(2)=0.965 and R(2)=0.966, respectively). Elastic modulus presented a direct correlation with inorganic content (R(2)=0.984). Degree of conversion did not vary significantly. Polymerization stress showed a strong direct correlation with shrinkage (R(2)=0.982) and inverse with elastic modulus (R(2)=0.966). Significance: High inorganic contents were associated with low polymerization stress values, which can be explained by the reduced volumetric shrinkage presented by heavily filled composites.
Monomer conversion, microhardness, internal marginal adaptation, and shrinkage stress of bulk-fill resin composites

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate degree of conversion (DC), Knoop microhardness (KHN), internal marginal adaptation (IA), and polymerization shrinkage stress (PS) of one conventional and four bulk-fill composites. Methods: Bulk-fill composites tested were Surefil SDR (SDR), Filtek Bulk-Fill (FBF), Tetric EvoCeram Bulk-Fill (TEC), and EverX Posterior (EXP). The conventional composite Herculite Classic (HER) was tested using both incremental and bulk-fill insertion techniques. Standardized Class I preparations (4-mm-depth) were made in extracted molars and restored with each product system (N=5). After 1-week wet storage, restorations were cross-sectioned and DC and KHN were evaluated at four depths (1, 2, 3, and 4mm) using confocal Raman spectroscopy and KHN techniques, respectively. Epoxy resin replicas of restorations were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy for IA. PS was determined using composite bonded to acrylic rods attached to a universal testing machine (N=5). Results: Within bulk-fill products, only SDR and FBF demonstrated similar DC at all depths, and KHN values did not statistically differ among depths, except for TEC. Neither placement method nor depth affected KHN or DC, except the DC of HER bulk-fill at 4mm. Incrementally layered HER, and bulk-fills SDR and TEC demonstrated the lowest proportion of internal gaps. Highest and lowest PS values were measured for EXP and TEC, respectively. Significance: DC with depth was not uniform among all bulk-fill materials, although no difference in KHN was found. Higher PS correlated positively with higher proportion of interfacial gaps. The incremental technique using conventional composite showed reduced gap formation.

Abstract:The different spectral components of the 3-12 m dust emission are imaged in the M 17 south-west molecular cloud / HII region interface. The various images result from a combination of space borne (ISO) and ground based (CFHT) observations. A spatial correlation analysis shows that there are two main components, which correspond to the continuum (in- cluding broad features) and to the emission bands (3.3, 6.2, 7.7 and 11.3 m) respectively. The former peaks towards the HII region whereas the later dominates at the molecular cloud inter- face. This is consistent with a model which attributes the bands to PAH molecules and the continuum to very small grains. In the frame of the coal dust model, these observations put constraints on the properties of the grains, implying a band-to-continuum ratio which varies strongly with the excitation conditions. This analysis, which points out the signature of very small particles, does not favor one model relative to the other.
Influence of the organic matrix composition on the polymerization behavior and bulk properties of resin composites containing thiourethane-functionalized fillers

Abstract:Objectives: The incorporation of thiourethane-based oligomeric additives into resin composite formulations leads to improvement in mechanical properties and reduction in polymerization stress, but may increase viscosity. The objective of this study was to functionalize filler particle surfaces with thiourethane silane molecules and determine the impact of the inorganic filler loading and surface treatment on the behavior of experimental resin composites with systematically-varied organic matrices. Methods: Thiourethane oligomer was synthesized de novo, and grafted to the surface of 0.7um barium glass. BisGMA and TEGDMA (BT) were combined (at 30:70, 50:50 or 70:30 wt%) to 50 or 75 wt% of methacrylate (MA-Sil - control) or thiourethane-silanized (TU-Sil) particles. Composites were made polymerizable by the addition of 0.2 wt% BAPO and 0.05 wt% BHT was added as inhibitor. A mercury arc lamp (320-500 nm) at 800 mW/cm2 was used for all curing procedures. Kinetics of polymerization was assessed by near-IR spectroscopy in real time. Polymerization stress was determined with a cantilever system in real time (Bioman). Flexural modulus and strength were determined in 3-point bending (25x2x2 mm). Water sorption and solubility and film thickness were tested according to ISO 4049. Polymeric network characteristics were analyzed by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Data was analyzed with two-way ANOVA/Tukey's test (95%). Results: Viscosity increased with the increase in BisGMA and/or filler amounts. Overall, TU-Sil containing composites showed delayed vitrification and higher final DC. Filler concentration did not affect DC neither flexural strength. DC decreased with increasing BisGMA content. Polymerization stress reduced and flexural modulus increased for higher filler content, especially for formulations containing TU-Sil particles. The water stability was positively affected by the increase in amount of BisGMA and inorganic filler particles. In terms of polymeric network, the addition of TU-Sil particles increased the Tg and decreased the E' and cross-link density. Conclusions: With the exception of flexural modulus, all tested properties were significantly impacted by the matrix viscosity and/or the addition of TU-Sil filler particles. In general, the use of thiourethane oligomers as a silane coupling agent was able to reinforce the materials and reduce the polymerization stress without negatively affecting the viscosity of the system.
Effect of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) concentrations on polymerization shrinkage stress and other physicochemical properties of experimental resin composites

Abstract:The present study examined different concentrations of the butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) inhibitor on the kinetics of conversion, polymerization shrinkage stress, and other correlated physicochemical properties of experimental resin composites (ERC). A model composite was formulated with 75 wt% filler containing 0.5 wt% camphorquinone and 1 wt% amine with BHT concentrations of 0.01 wt% (BHT-0.01); 0.1 wt% (BHT-0.1); 0.25 wt% (BHT-0.25); 0.5 wt% (BHT-0.5); 1 wt% (BHT-1), and control (no BHT). They were tested on polymerization shrinkage stress (PSS; n = 5), degree of conversion (DC; n = 3), maximum polymerization rate (RpMAX; n = 5), water sorption (Wsp; n = 0), and solubility (Wsl; n = 10), flexural strength (FS; n = 10), flexural modulus (FM; n = 10), Knoop microhardness (KH; n = 10), and microhardness reduction (HR; n = 10). Data concerning these tests were submitted to one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05; β = 0.2). BHT-0.25, BHT-0.5, and BHT-1 showed a gradually significant decrease in PSS (p = 0.037); however, BHT-1 demonstrated a decrease in the physicochemical properties tested. Thus, within the limitations of this study, it was possible to conclude that BHT concentrations between 0.25 and 0.5 wt% are optimal for reducing shrinkage stress without affecting other physicochemical properties of ERCs.
Bis-EMA/Bis-GMA ratio effects on resin-properties and impregnated fiber-bundles

Abstract:Objectives: To evaluate the effect of different ratios of Bis-EMA/Bis-GMA resin mixtures on the inherent viscosity and curing-related properties: including degree of cure (DC%), shrinkage strain, Knoop micro-hardness (KH) and flexural strength of resin-impregnated fiber-bundles. Methods: Bis-EMA/Bis-GMA monomers were mixed (by weight) in the following ratios: M1 = 30 %/70 %, M2 = 50 %/50 %, M3 = 70 %/30 %, and M4 = 100 %/0 %. Standard measurements were made of refractive index, viscosity, degree of conversion, shrinkage strain and Knoop hardness (KHN). For 60 % glass fiber-bundles impregnated with 40 % resin, three-point bending test for flexural strength and shrinkage strain were measured. Data were analyzed by One-way ANOVA and Bonferroni post-hoc tests (α = 0.05). Results: For resin mixtures, increasing Bis-EMA proportion decreased refractive index (p < 0.05), and viscosity (p < 0.05), and increased monomer conversion (DC%), shrinkage strain and KHN (p < 0.05). DC% increased after 1 h for all resin mixtures. The shrinkage strain and flexural strength of resin-impregnated fiber-bundles reduced with increased Bis-EMA. Significance: Monomeric mixtures with highest amounts of Bis-EMA showed enhancement in several clinically-relevant properties and polymerization of respective resin-impregnated glass fibers. This makes them potential candidates for impregnating glass fibers in fiber-reinforced restorations.

Characterization of dental light-curing resin composites incorporating multiple modified low-shrink monomers

Abstract:Objective: Polymerization shrinkage poses a significant challenge in dental resin composites. The objective of this study is to introduce spiroorthocarbonate monomer 3,9-dimethylene-1,3,5,7-tetraoxa-spiro[5,5]undecane (BMSOC) and epoxy resin monomer 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3,4-epoxycyclohexane carboxylate (ECHM-ECHC) into bisphenol-S-bis(3-methacrylato-2-hydroxy propyl)ether (BisS-GMA) based resin composites to develop composites with reduced shrinkage properties. Methods: BMSOC and BisS-GMA were synthesized and thoroughly mixed with ECHM-ECHC, followed by inorganic fillers and photoinitiators. Based on the composition of the resin matrix, five groups of experimental composites were prepared, with traditional bisphenol A-dimethacrylate glycidyl ester (Bis-GMA)/triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) based composite serving as the control. The polymerization properties, including degree of conversion (DC) and polymerization shrinkage (PS), as well as marginal microleakage, wettability, flexural strength (FS), flexural modulus (FM), and biocompatibility were evaluated. Results: The results demonstrated that compared with the control group, the PS of BisS-GMA based composites containing BMSOC and ECHM-ECHC were significantly reduced (P < 0.05), and the lowest PS (0.96 ± 0.08 %) was observed when the ratio of BisS-GMA: (Epoxy + BMSOC) was 4:6. Additionally, the experimental composites also exhibited improved DC, minimal microleakage, low hydrophilicity, enhanced mechanical properties, qualified in vivo biocompatibility, and slight/moderate in vitro biocompatibility. Significance: The resin composites incorporating multiple modified low-shrink monomers are promising for dental applications to prevent various clinical problems caused by PS and extend restoration longevity.
Influence of Eugenol and Its Novel Methacrylated Derivative on the Polymerization Degree of Resin-Based Composites

Abstract:The aim of this work was to assess the limiting rate of eugenol (Eg) and eugenyl-glycidyl methacrylate (EgGMA) at which the ideal degree of conversion (DC) of resin composites is achieved. For this, two series of experimental composites, containing, besides reinforcing silica and a photo-initiator system, either EgGMA or Eg molecules at 0–6.8 wt% per resin matrix, principally consisting of urethane dimethacrylate (50 wt% per composite), were prepared and denoted as UGx and UEx, where x refers to the EgGMA or Eg wt% in the composite, respectively. Disc-shaped specimens (5 × 1 mm) were fabricated, photocured for 60 s, and analyzed for their Fourier transform infrared spectra before and after curing. The results revealed concentration-dependent DC, increased from 56.70% (control; UG0 = UE0) to 63.87% and 65.06% for UG3.4 and UE0.4, respectively, then dramatically decreased with the concentration increase. The insufficiency in DC due to EgGMA and Eg incorporation, i.e., DC below the suggested clinical limit (>55%), was observed beyond UG3.4 and UE0.8. The mechanism behind such inhibition is still not fully determined; however, radicals generated by Eg may drive its free radical polymerization inhibitory activity, while the steric hindrance and reactivity of EgGMA express its traced effect at high percentages. Therefore, while Eg is a severe inhibitor for radical polymerization, EgGMA is safer and can be used to benefit resin-based composites when used at a low percentage per resin.

Probing stress relaxation behavior in glassy methacrylate networks containing thio-carbamate additives

Abstract:The incorporation of thiourethane prepolymer (TU) into either the organic phase or as a surface treatment for filler particles in composites reduces polymerization stress and improves fracture toughness. The aim of this study was to gain insight into the influence of the inclusion of thiourethanes on the resulting network of methacrylate-based materials polymerized via free-radical mechanisms. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to elucidate network parameters and potential stress relaxation behavior of these networks. TU oligomers were synthesized using a combination of trimethylol-tris-3-mercaptopropionate and dicyclohexylmethane 4,4'-diisocyanate and added into composite formulations at 20 wt% replacing part of the organic matrix and/or as TU-silanes used to functionalize filler particles (TU-matrix, TU-Sil or TU-matrix/sil). Materials not containing any form of TU were used as the control (in those cases, 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate was used as the silane agent). Filler was added at 50 wt%. Degree of conversion was evaluated by near-IR spectroscopy, mechanical properties by 3-point bending and rotational rheometry. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to obtain network parameters (glass transition temperature (Tg), storage modulus, cross-link density, and breadth of tan delta a proxy for network homogeneity - temperature sweep experiments) and to evaluate the potential for network relaxation (stress relaxation). TU-containing formulations showed 10% higher DC than the control. The time to reach storage/loss modulus crossover in the rheometer experiments was significantly longer for TU-matrix and TU-matrix/sil in comparison with the control (21.6, 27.9, and 5.1 s, respectively). TU-matrix and TU-matrix/sil presented significant lower Tg than the control (151.5, 153.8, and 161.3 °C, respectively). There were no statistical differences among the groups in terms of shear modulus, cross-link density, breadth of tan delta, flexural strength/modulus, and toughness. For at least one group (TU-matrix/sil), the relaxation time was four times faster than for the control at 105 °C. The addition of TU additives into dental polymers resulted in a stark reduction in the stress relaxation time. This behavior, in tandem with the network characterization and mechanical properties seems to indicate the TU networks undergo a variety of reversible associative and dissociative chemical reactions which facilitate enhanced stress relief.
A novel low shrinkage dimethacrylate monomer as an alternative to BisGMA for adhesive and resin-based composite applications

PG6EMA was synthesized de novo and characterized in the presence of ethanol (3%, 6% or 9%). BisGMA/TEGDMA (BTEG, 50/50 wt.%) was used as the resin control. Composites were formulated with 60 wt.% of either PG6EMA or BisGMA (40 wt.% TEGDMA and 70 wt.% filler). DMPA (0.2 wt.%) and DPI-PF6 (0.4 wt.%) were added as photoinitiators, irradiated with a mercury arc lamp (320–500 nm, 500 mW/cm2; Acticure). All materials were tested for polymerization kinetics (near-infrared), viscosity (η) and storage modulus (G', oscillatory rheometry). The composites were further characterized for water sorption/solubility, wet/dry flexural strength/modulus and polymerization stress. Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA/Tukey's test (α = 0.05). The PG6EMA resins showed lower rates of polymerization compared with BTEG (p = 0.001) but high degrees of conversion (p = 0.002). Solvent concentration did not affect RPMAX but the 6% and 9% mixtures showed higher final DC, likely due to reduced viscosity. PG6EMA had much higher viscosity than BTEG (p <0.001) and lower G' (p = 0.003). Composites modified with PG6EMA have slower polymerization rates (p = 0.001) but higher final DC (p = 0.04) than the control. PG6EMA/TEGDMA showed lower dry/wet flexural strength and comparable dry modulus. The PG6EMA/TEGDMA composite showed a 18.4% polymerization stress reduction compared to the BTEG composite. Both base monomers had similar WS/SL and G'. Within its limitations, this study demonstrated that the newly synthesized PG6EMA was a viable alternative to BisGMA in dental composites.

Abstract:A new steroid, itesmol 3-O-palmitate (1), along with two known steroids were isolated from the trunk of Berberis koreana. The structure of 1 was determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses involving 2D NMR and chemical reactions. Compound 1 exhibited potential antiproliferative activity against A549, SK-OV-3, SK-MEL-2, and HCT-15 cell lines (respective IC50 values of 7.41, 9.20, 4.53, and 12.91 μM).
Polymerization shrinkage stress of contemporary dental composites: Comparison of two measurement methods

Abstract:The aim of this study was to compare two testing methodologies employed for assessing the polymerization shrinkage stress of dental resin composites. Ten commercial resin composites were investigated (EverX Posterior & Flow; G-ænial Anterior, Posterior, A'CHORD & Universal Injectable; Filtek One Bulk Fill & Universal Restorative; SDR flow+ and Aura Bulk Fill). Photoelastic and contraction forces measurement methods were performed. The slope of the linear trendline and C-factor of specimens were calculated. The shrinkage stress values (range between: 6.4-13.4 MPa) obtained by the photoelastic method were higher for all resin composites than the values obtained by contraction forces measurements (range between 1.2-4.8 MPa). However, there was a strong linear correlation between these methods (r=0.8). The use of both investigated methods revealed important information about the shrinkage behavior of the restorative resin composites.

Monomer elution and shrinkage stress analysis of addition-fragmentation chain-transfer-modified resin composites in relation to the curing protocol

Abstract:Objective: The purpose was to compare the effects of rapid (3 s) and conventional (20 s) polymerization protocols (PP) of mono- and multichip LED curing units (LCU) on shrinkage stress (SS) and monomer elution (ME) in bulk-fill resin-based composites (RBC) with and without addition-fragmentation chain-transfer (AFCT) monomer. Methods: Cylindrical (5x4mm) specimens were prepared from two RBCs containing different AFCT monomers (Filtek OneBulk-FOB; Tetric PowerFill-TPF) and one without (Tetric EvoCeram Bulk-TEC). After soaking for 3, 10, and 14 days (75 % ethanol), ME was quantified using standard monomers by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography. SS was measured from the start of polymerization to 5 min using a Materials Testing Machine. The radiant exitance of LCUs was measured using a spectrophotometer. ANOVA and Tukey's post-hoc test, multivariate analysis and partial eta-squared statistics were used to analyze the data (p < 0.05). Results: AFCT-modification significantly decreased ME (p < 0.001). ME was reduced by half by day 10 and by one tenth by the end of the 14-day compared to the 3-day sampling. ME itself was dependent, whereas the percentage of monomers released was independent of the PP used (p > 0.05). FOB showed the lowest SS (p < 0.001), while there was no significant difference between TPF and TEC (p = 0.124). Both ME and SS were significantly influenced by material type and PP. Significance: The incorporation of the AFCT monomer reduced ME, but this was inversely related to a decrease in exposure time. SS values reduced by rapid PP in parallel with increasing ME values. The utilization of the AFCT molecule in conjunction with an appropriate resin-, initiator-system is of significant consequence for the kinetics of polymerization and the incorporation of monomers into the network.
Polymerization Shrinkage Kinetics and Degree of Conversion of Resin Composites.

Abstract:This study compared shrinkage strain, polymerization shrinkage kinetics, and degree of conversion (DC) of a set of resin composites and investigated their influencing factors. Ten commercial resin composites were assessed, and 5 specimens (n = 5) were developed for material and subjected to light curing using light emitting diode light at 650 mW/cm2 for 40 s. The laser triangulation method was adopted to assess the shrinkage strain, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was used to measure DC. The shrinkage strain was monitored for 5 min in real time and its data were subjected to differential calculations to get the shrinkage strain rate curve with respect to time, obtaining the maximum shrinkage strain rate (Rmax) and gel time. The values of shrinkage strain varied from 1.28% to 2.10%. The Rmax values were between 5.17 μm/s and 21.83 μm/s. Gel time values varied from 3.08 s to 4.32 s. The DC yielded values ranging from 53.62% to 87.01%. The values of polymerization shrinkage and DC were dependent on the composition of materials, including the monomer matrix and filler system. Compared to the micro-filler materials, the nano-filler resin composites had higher values of DC. Some resin composites are suitable for clinical applications because of their superior polymerization shrinkage properties and DC.

Abstract:The leading cause of composite restoration failure is secondary caries, and although caries is a multifactorial problem, weak, damage-prone adhesives play a pivotal role in the high susceptibility of composite restorations to secondary caries. Our group has developed synthetic resins that capitalize on free-radical polymerization and sol-gel reactions to provide dental adhesives with enhanced properties. The resins contain γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) as the Si-based compound. This study investigated the properties of methacrylate-based resins containing methacryloxymethyltrimethoxysilane (MMeS) as a short-chain alternative. The degree of conversion (DC), polymerization kinetics, water sorption, mechanical properties, and leachates of MMeS- and MPS-resins with 55 and 30 wt% BisGMA-crosslinker were determined. The formulations were used as model adhesives, and the adhesive/dentin (a/d) interfaces were analyzed using chemometrics-assisted micro-Raman spectroscopy. The properties of the 55 wt% formulations were comparable. In the 30 wt% BisGMA formulations, the MMeS-resin exhibited faster polymerization, lower DC, reduced leachates, and increased storage and loss moduli, glass transition (Tg), crosslink density, and heterogeneity. The spectroscopic results indicated a comparable spatial distribution of resin, mineralized, and demineralized dentin across the a/d interfaces. The hydrolytically stable experimental short-chain-silane-monomer dental adhesive provides enhanced mechanical properties through autonomous strengthening and offers a promising strategy for the development of restorative dental materials with extended service life.

Abstract:BACKGROUND Topography and fascicular arrangement of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) can provide critical information for the estimation of damage to IAN based on patient symptoms, or conversely to evaluate the symptoms resulting from injury to the IAN. PURPOSE The fascicular composition and organization of the IAN were determined to confirm the microarchitecture of the IAN bundles into each of the mandibular teeth, including the composition of the mental nerve. MATERIALS AND METHODS The IAN within the mandibular canal (MC) was examined in 30 hemifaces of embalmed Korean cadavers. RESULTS The most common patterns of nerve fascicle innervation to the mandibular teeth could be grossly classified into three: (1) the superior buccal portion of the IAN innervating the molars, (2) the superior portion innervating the premolars, and (3) the superior lingual or the superior lingual and inferior lingual portions in the posterior MC and the lingual portions in the anterior MC, innervating the incisors and canine. The buccal two-thirds portion of the IAN was composed of the mental nerve. CONCLUSION The IAN had distinctive fascicular organizations, which make it possible to forecast the degree, location, and extent of nerve damage according to presenting symptoms.
Mechanical Behavior of Different Restorative Materials and Onlay Preparation Designs in Endodontically Treated Molars

Abstract:This study evaluated the effect of the combination of three different onlay preparation designs and two restorative materials on the stress distribution, using 3D-finite element analysis. Six models of first lower molars were created according to three preparation designs: non-retentive (nRET), traditional with occlusal isthmus reduction (IST), and traditional without occlusal isthmus reduction (wIST); and according to two restorative materials: lithium-disilicate (LD) and nanoceramic resin (NR). A 600 N axial load was applied at the central fossa. All solids were considered isotropic, homogeneous, and linearly elastic. A static linear analysis was performed, and the Maximum Principal Stress (MPS) criteria were used to evaluate the results and compare the stress in MPa on the restoration, cement layer, and tooth structure (enamel and dentin). A novel statistical approach was used for quantitative analysis of the finite element analysis results. On restoration and cement layer, nRET showed a more homogeneous stress distribution, while the highest stress peaks were calculated for LD onlays (restoration: 69–110; cement layer: 10.2–13.3). On the tooth structure, the material had more influence, with better results for LD (27–38). It can be concluded that nRET design showed the best mechanical behavior compared to IST and wIST, with LD being more advantageous for tooth structure and NR for the restoration and cement layer.

Abstract:Aim: To evaluate the bottom/top hardness ratio (B/T) and the dentin bonding stability of conventional and bulk-fill resin composites in high c-factor preparations. Methods: Regular conventional (Tetric N-Ceram – TNC, and Polofil Supra – PFS), regular bulk-fill (Tetric N-Ceram Bulk fill – TBF, and Admira Fusion X-tra – AFX), and low viscosity bulk-fill resin composites (Tetric N-flow – TNF, and X-tra Base – XTB) were used to restore 180 dentin conical preparations. The specimens were randomly distributed in 12 groups (n = 15) according to the resin composites and storage time-points (24 h and six months) tested. After 24 h storage, all specimens were subjected to the bottom/top hardness ratio analysis. Then, the push-out bond strength test was performed in half of the specimens and the other half were maintained for six months on water storage before testing. The failure modes were analyzed in a stereomicroscopic. The data were analyzed statistically using one- and two-way ANOVA and Tukey post-test (p 0.05). Regardless of the storage timepoint, regular bulk-fill resin composites showed the highest bond strength values statistically (p<0.05). Only conventional resin composites showed statistically lower bond strength values at six-month storage (p<0.05). Adhesive failures were more predominant for low-viscosity bulk-fill resin composites. Conclusion: Although the DoC was not affected by different materials tested, only bulk-fill resin composites did not present dentin bond strength loss after six-month of water storage.
