Abstract:We study the fine scaling properties of sets satisfying various weak forms of invariance. For general attractors of possibly overlapping bi-Lipschitz iterated function systems, we establish that the Assouad dimension is given by the Hausdorff dimension of a tangent at some point in the attractor. Under the additional assumption of self-conformality, we moreover prove that this property holds for a subset of full Hausdorff dimension.

Abstract:A geometric approach to Sundman transformation defined by basic functions for systems of second-order differential equations is developed and the necessity of a change of the tangent structure by means of the function defining the Sundman transformation is shown. Among other applications of such theory we study the linearisability of a system of second-order differential equations and in particular the simplest case of a second-order differential equation. The theory is illustrated with several examples.

Abstract:We study the notion of algebraic tangent cones at singularities of reflexive sheaves. These correspond to extensions of reflexive sheaves across a negative divisor. We show the existence of optimal extensions in a constructive manner, and we prove the uniqueness in a suitable sense. The results here are an algebro-geometric counterpart of our previous study on singularities of Hermitian-Yang-Mills connections.

This paper investigates tangent measures in the sense of Preiss for non-homogeneous Cantor sets on [math] generated by specific iterated function systems that satisfy the strong separation condition. Through the dynamics of "zooming in" on any typical point, we derive an explicit and uniform formula for the tangent measures associated with this category of non-homogeneous Cantor sets on [math].

The Geometry of Tangent Spaces on Causal Sets

Abstract:In this paper, we expand on previous work describing partial derivatives and metric component estimators to define tangent spaces on causal sets. Partial derivative operators are the basis vectors of the tangent space, and the metric defines the inner product. First, we use partial derivatives of the metric components to define the connection and partial derivatives of the connection to define the curvature. Numerical results show that both of these approach the expected values for a flat spacetime as density increases. Then we used the connection to define parallel transport and geodesics.

Abstract:In this paper we show that if $\mathscr{C}$ is a tangent category then the Ind-category $\operatorname{Ind}(\mathscr{C})$ is a tangent category as well with a tangent structure which locally looks like the tangent structure on $\mathscr{C}$. Afterwards we give a pseudolimit description of $\operatorname{Ind}(\mathscr{C})_{/X}$ when $\mathscr{C}$ admits finite products, show that the $\operatorname{Ind}$-tangent category of a representable tangent category remains representable (in the sense that it has a microlinear object), and we characterize the differential bundles in $\operatorname{Ind}(\mathscr{C})$ when $\mathscr{C}$ is a Cartesian differential category. Finally we compute the $\operatorname{Ind}$-tangent category for the categories $\mathbf{CAlg}_{A}$ of commutative $A$-algebras, $\mathbf{Sch}_{/S}$ of schemes over a base scheme $S$, $A$-$\mathbf{Poly}$ (the Cartesian differential category of $A$-valued polynomials), and $\mathbb{R}$-$\mathbf{Smooth}$ (the Cartesian differential category of Euclidean spaces). In particular, during the computation of $\operatorname{Ind}(\mathbf{Sch}_{/S})$ we give a definition of what it means to have a formal tangent scheme over a base scheme $S$.

A second order approach to the Kato square root problem on open sets

Abstract:We give a proof for the Kato square root problem on suitable open sets and subject to pure Dirichlet boundary conditions. In contrast to earlier work, our proof uses only second-order techniques and is in the spirit of the proof given by Egert--Haller--Monniaux--Tolksdorf in the scope of the 27th international internet seminar for $\Omega = \mathbb{R}^n$. In contrast to the usual proofs based on the first-order framework by Axelsson--Keith--McIntosh, the proof becomes substantially shorter and technically less demanding.

Abstract:This paper aims to study the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric g BS on the second order tangent bundle T 2 M over a bi-Kählerian manifold M . The authors firstly find the Levi-Civita connection of the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric g BS and calculate all forms of Riemannian curvature tensors of this metric. Also, they study geodesics on the second order tangent bundle T 2 M and bi-unit second order tangent bundle , and characterize a geodesic of the bi-unit second order tangent bundle in terms of geodesic curvatures of its projection to the base. Finally, they present some conditions for a section σ : M → T 2 M to be harmonic and study the harmonicity of the different canonical projections and inclusions of ( T 2 M , g BS ). Moreover, they search the harmonicity of the Berger type deformed Sasaki metric g BS and the Sasaki metric g S with respect to each other.

Abstract:The present article studies the finite Zariski tangent spaces to an affine variety X as linear codes, in order to characterize their typical or exceptional properties by global geometric conditions on X. The discussion concerns the generic minimum distance of a tangent code to X, its lower semi-continuity under a deformation of X, as well as the existence of Zariski tangent spaces to X with exceptional minimum distance. Tangent codes are shown to admit simultaneous decoding. The duals of the tangent codes to X are realized by gradients of polynomials from the ideal of X. We provide constructions of affine varieties with near MDS, cyclic or Hamming tangent codes. Puncturing, shortening and extending finite Zariski tangent spaces are related to the corresponding operations on affine varieties. The (u|u+v) construction of tangent codes is associated with a fibered product of varieties. Explicit constructions realize linear Hamming isometries as differentials of morphisms of affine varieties.

Abstract:In this paper, we create a new subclass of convex functions given with tangent functions applying the combination of Babalola operators and Binomial series. Moreover, we obtain several important geometric results, including sharp coefficient bounds, sharp Fekete–Szego inequality, Kruskal inequality, and growth and distortion estimates. Furthermore, for functions with logarithmic coefficients, we compute sharp Fekete–Szego inequality and sharp coefficient bounds.

Abstract:Let $X\subset\mathbb{C}^m$ be an unbounded pure $k$-dimensional algebraic set. We define the tangent cones $C_{4, \infty}(X)$ and $C_{5,\infty}(X)$ of $X$ at infinity. We establish some of their properties and relations. We prove that $X$ must be an affine linear subspace of $\mathbb{C}^m$ provided that $C_{5, \infty}(X)$ has pure dimension $k$. Also, we study the relation between the tangent cones at infinity and representations of $X$ outside a compact set as a branched covering. Our results can be seen as versions at infinity of results of Whitney and Stutz.

Abstract:Linearization problem of ordinary differential equations by a new set of tangent transformations is considered in the paper. This set of transformations allows one to extend the set of transformations applied for the linearization problem. Criteria for fourth-order ordinary differential equations to be linearizable are obtained in a particular case; a linearization test and procedure for obtaining the linearizing transformations are provided in explicit forms.

Abstract:Two geometric constructions are considered in the context of analytic complexity. Using the first construction, on the set of analytic functions, we build a metric invariant under the action of the gauge group. With the help of the second construction, we obtain a necessary differential algebraic condition for membership of a function in the tangent space to the class of bivariate functions of analytic complexity at the point . From this result we show that the polynomial of degree 5 has analytic complexity 3.

Abstract:The aim of the paper is to study some dynamic aspects coming from a tangent form, i.e. a time dependent differential form on a tangent bundle. The action on curves of a tangent form is natural associated with that of a second order Lagrangian linear in accelerations, while the converse association is not unique. An equivalence relation of the tangent form, compatible with gauge equivalent Lagrangians, is considered. We express the Euler–Lagrange equation of the Lagrangian as a second order Lagrange derivative of a tangent form, considering controlled and higher order tangent forms. Hamiltonian forms of the dynamics generated are given, extending some quantization formulas given by Lukierski, Stichel and Zakrzewski. Using semi-sprays, local solutions of the E–L equations are given in some special particular cases.

Abstract:This is the second of two closely related papers on transversality. Here we introduce the notion of strong tangential transversality of two closed subsets of a Banach space which is a natural sufficient condition for tangential transversality. Some properties of uniform tangent sets are obtained. A new sum rule for the Clarke subdifferential is proven.

Abstract:Motivated by team semantics and existential second-order logic, we develop a model-theoretic framework for studying second-order objects such as sets and relations. We introduce a notion of abstract elementary team categories that generalizes the standard notion of abstract elementary class, and show that it is an example of an accessible category. We apply our framework to show that the logic $\mathsf{FOT}$ introduced by Kontinen and Yang satisfies a version of Lindström's Theorem. Finally, we consider the problem of transferring categoricity between different cardinalities for complete theories in existential second-order logic (or independence logic) and prove both a downwards and an upwards categoricity transfer result.
