Abstract:By studying the existing higher order derivation formulas of rational Bézier curves, we find that they fail when the order of the derivative exceeds the degree of the curves. In this paper, we present a new derivation formula for rational Bézier curves that overcomes this drawback and show that the $k$th degree derivative of a $n$th degree rational Bézier curve can be written in terms of a $(2^kn)$th degree rational Bézier curve.we also consider the properties of the endpoints and the bounds of the derivatives.

Abstract:Partial fraction expansion (pfe) is a classic technique used in many fields of pure or applied mathematics. The paper focuses on the pfe of general rational functions in both factorized and expanded form. Novel, simple, and recursive formulas for the computation of residues and residual polynomial coefficients are derived. The proposed pfe methods require only simple pure-algebraic operations in the whole computation process. They do not involve derivatives when tackling proper functions and require no polynomial division when dealing with improper functions. The methods are efficient and very easy to apply for both computer and manual calculation. Various numerical experiments confirm that the proposed methods can achieve quite desirable accuracy even for pfe of rational functions with multiple high-order poles or some tricky ill-conditioned poles.

Abstract:An easy practical algebraic algorithm was proposed for partial expansion of rational functions with multiple high-order poles. The simple recursive implementation of the proposed method involves neither long division nor differentiation and requires only elementary arithmetic operations. It is suitable for computer or hand calculation of partial expansion of both proper and improper functions with multiple high-order poles with desirable accuracy.

Abstract:One of the main purposes of this article is to give functional equations and differential equations between Bernstein basis functions and generating functions of B-spline curves. Using these equations, very useful formulas containing the relationships among the uniform B-spline curves, the Bernstein basis functions, and other special numbers and polynomials are derived. By applying p-adic integrals to these polynomials, many novel formulas are also derived. Furthermore, by applying the partial differential derivative operator and Laplace transformation to these generating functions, with aid of higher derivative differential, not only recurrence relations and the higher derivative formula for B-spline curves, but also infinite series representations are given.

Abstract:According to some identities and inequalities about the intermediate weights and control points of the de Casteljau algorithm for rational Bézier curve, we derive a new bound of the derivative of rational Bézier curves. The comparison of the new bounds with some existing ones is also presented. Based on some previous bounds, the bound presented in this paper and many numerical examples, we propose a conjecture of the bound for the derivative of rational Bézier curves.

Abstract:Colloquially, quantitatively Hyper-Positive functions form a sub-family of the "Strictly Positive real" functions, where in addition state-space realization always exists and the limit at infinity is non-singular. In scalar terminology, such function maps the right-half of the complex plane into a sub-region of the right-half plane, which can be contained in a finite disk. Moreover, under inversion this disk is mapped onto itself. In [9] we showed that these functions appear in the "absolute stability" Lurie-type problems and characterized these families through their state-space realization, in the spirit of the Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov Lemma. Here, we present additional characterizations, i.e. as rational functions and through the corresponding kernels. Subsequently, a description of all solutions of the tangential Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem, in this framework, is presented.

Abstract:We prove that a Poisson-Newton formula, in a broad sense, is associated to each Dirichlet series with a meromorphic extension to the whole complex plane. These formulas simultaneously generalize the classical Poisson formula and Newton formulas for Newton sums. Classical Poisson formulas in Fourier analysis, classical summation formulas as Euler-McLaurin or Abel-Plana formulas, explicit formulas in number theory and Selberg trace formulas in Riemannian geometry appear as special cases of our general Poisson-Newton formula. We also associate to finite order meromorphic functions general Poisson-Newton formulas that yield many classical integral formulas.

Abstract:We consider the class numbers of imaginary quadratic extensions $F(\sqrt{-p})$, for certain primes $p$, of totally real quadratic fields $F$ which have class number one. Using seminal work of Shintani, we obtain two elementary class number formulas for many such fields. The first expresses the class number as an alternating sum of terms that we generate from the coefficients of the power series expansions of two simple rational functions that depend on the arithmetic of $F$ and $p$. The second makes use of expansions of $1/p$, where $p$ is a prime such that $p \equiv 3 \pmod{4}$ and $p$ remains inert in $F$. More precisely, for a generator $\varepsilon_F$ of the totally positive unit group of $\mathcal{O}_F$, the base-$\varepsilon_{F}$ expansion of $1/p$ has period length $\ell_{F,p}$, and our second class number formula expresses the class number as a finite sum over disjoint cosets of size $\ell_{F,p}$.

Abstract:In this paper we present some substantial modifications and improvements for some derivative-free iterative formulae. We propose some new methods which are convergent iterative formulae of order 1 + root 2 approximate to 2.414 with only two evaluations of f per step. Thus the new methods enjoy the efficiency index root(1 + root 2) approximate to 1.554. Especially, a new method of self-accelerating regula falsi type with global convergence for finding a simple root p of a nonlinear equation f(x) = 0 in the interval [a, b] is offered in this paper. The new method of self-accelerating regula falsi type is shown to be convergent with order 1 + root 2 approximate to 2.414 for both the sequences of diameters {(b(n) - a(n))} and the iterative points {x(n)}. The new method has been tested on a series of published examples. The numerical results demonstrate that the new method is more effective. Furthermore, we introduce a derivative-free transformation for multiple zeros and consider its error analysis and then demonstrate its superiority by comparing it with the traditional ones. Abstract:The various characteristics of meromorphic functions are main tool in the study of value distribution of meromorphic functions this book will introduce. They are real-valued functions defined on the positive real axis. In this chapter, we discuss certain properties of such real functions for application in later chapters. We begin with the order and the lower order of such functions which include the proximate order and the type function. We discuss the existence of the Polya peak sequence. Also, we identify a sequence of positive numbers with some of the Polya peak properties. We mainly introduce a result of Edrei and Fuchs for the regularity, thereby, improving the lemma of Borel and quasi-invariance of inequalities of two real functions under differentiation and integration. Finally, we exhibit the Green formula and collect several integral inequalities.
