Abstract:In this paper, new purely topological approaches are furnished in order to characterize self-majorizing elements in an Archimedean vector lattice A . More precisely, it is shown that an element $0<f\in a$ is a self-majorizing element if and only if every f -maximal order ideal of A is relatively uniformly closed. In addition, it is proved that self-majorizing elements are characterized via the hull–kernel topology on both the set of all proper prime order ideals and on the set of all g -maximal order ideals of A , for all In fact, the set of all prime order ideals of A not containing f (respectively, the set of all g -maximal order ideals of A not containing f , for all is a closed with respect to the hull–kernel topology on (respectively, on if and only if f is a self-majorizing element in A .

Abstract:In this paper, we characterize all N -dimensional hypercomplex numbers having unital Archimedean f -algebra structure. We use matrix representation of hypercomplex numbers to define an order structure on the matrix spectra. We prove that the unique (up to isomorphism) unital Archimedean f -algebra of hypercomplex numbers of dimension is that with real and simple spectrum. We also show that these number systems can be made into unital Banach lattice algebras and we establish some of their properties. Furthermore, we prove that every 2 N -dimensional unital Archimedean f -algebra is the hyperbolization of that of dimension N . Finally, we consider hypercomplex number systems of dimension and give their explicit matrix representation and eigenvalue operators. This work is a multidimensional generalization of the results obtained in Gargoubi and Kossentini (Adv Appl Clifford Algebras 26(4):1211–1233, 2016) and Bilgin and Ersoy S (Adv Appl Clifford Algebras 30:13, 2020) for, respectively, the two and four-dimensional systems.

Abstract:The Archimedean property is one of the most beautiful axioms of the classical arithmetic and some of the methods of constructing the field of real numbers are based on this property. It is well-known that every Archimedean `-group is abelian and every pseudo-MV algebra is commutative. The aim of this paper is to introduce the Archimedean property for pseudo-MTL algebras and FLw-algebras. The main results consit of proving that there exist non-commutative Archimedean FLw-algebras. We also prove that any locally finite FLw-algebra is Archimedean.

Abstract:The aim of this article is to study some invariants of associative algebras under stable equivalences of Morita type. First of all, we show that, if two finite-dimensional self-injective k-algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, then their orbit algebras are isomorphic. Secondly, it is verified that the quasitilted property of an algebra is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type. As an application of this result, it is obtained that if an algebra is of finite representation type, then its tilted property is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type; the other application to partial tilting modules is given in Section 4. Finally, we prove that when two finite-dimensional k-algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, their repetitive algebras are also stably equivalent of Morita type under certain conditions.

Abstract:It is easy to see that every character (i.e. unital *-homomorphism to the complex numbers) of a commutative unital associative *-algebra is a pure state (i.e. extreme point in the convex set of all normalized positive linear functionals). This article gives sufficient conditions for the converse to be true as well. In order to formulate these results together with similar ones, e.g. for locally convex *-algebras, the notion of an abstract O*-algebra (unital associative *-algebra with an order defined by positive linear functionals) is introduced. Many concepts and intermediary results discussed here also apply to the non-commutative case.

Uniform Algebras Over Complete Valued Fields

Abstract:UNIFORM algebras have been extensively investigated because of their importance in the theory of uniform approximation and as examples of complex Banach algebras. An interesting question is whether analogous algebras exist when a complete valued field other than the complex numbers is used as the underlying field of the algebra. In the Archimedean setting, this generalisation is given by the theory of real function algebras introduced by S. H. Kulkarni and B. V. Limaye in the 1980s. This thesis establishes a broader theory accommodating any complete valued field as the underlying field by involving Galois automorphisms and using non-Archimedean analysis. The approach taken keeps close to the original definitions from the Archimedean setting. Basic function algebras are defined and generalise real function algebras to all complete valued fields. Several examples are provided. Each basic function algebra is shown to have a lattice of basic extensions related to the field structure. In the non-Archimedean setting it is shown that certain basic function algebras have residue algebras that are also basic function algebras. A representation theorem is established. Commutative unital Banach F-algebras with square preserving norm and finite basic dimension are shown to be isometrically F-isomorphic to some subalgebra of a Basic function algebra. The theory of non-commutative real function algebras was established by K. Jarosz in 2008. The possibility of their generalisation to the non-Archimedean setting is established in this thesis. In the context of complex uniform algebras, a new proof is given using transfinite induction of the Feinstein-Heath Swiss cheese "Classicalisation" theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we study B-Fredholm elements in rings and algebras. After characterising these elements in terms of generalized Fredholm elements, we will give a condition on the socle of a unital primitive Banach algebra $A$, under which we prove that an element of $A$ is a B-Fredholm element of index $0$ if and only if it is the sum of a Drazin invertible element of $A$ and an element of the socle of $A$.

Abstract:In this paper, we first introduce the concept of single elements in a module. A systematic study of single elements in AlgL-module U-phi is initiated, where L is a completely distributive subspace lattice on a Banach space X and phi is an order homomorphism from L into L. For a reflexive Banach space X and a positive integer n (or +infinity), by virtue of the order homomorphism phi we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of single elements of U-phi of rank n (or +infinity).

Abstract:In the present paper, it is proved that any complete local domain of mixed characteristic has a weakly almost Cohen-Macaulay algebra in the sense that some system of parameters is a weakly almost regular sequence, which is a notion defined via a valuation. The central idea of this result originates from the main statement obtained by Heitmann to prove the Monomial Conjecture in dimension 3. In fact, A weakly almost Cohen-Macaulay algebra is constructed over the absolute integral closure of a complete local domain by applying the methods of Fontaine rings and Witt vectors. A connection of the main theorem with the Monomial Conjecture is also discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we first introduce the concept of single elements in a module. A systematic study of single elements in the AlgL-module U is initiated, where L is a completely distributive subspace lattice on a Hilbert space H. Furthermore, as an application of single elements, we study module isomorphisms between norm closed AlgN-modules, where N is a nest, and obtain the following result: Suppose that U, V are norm closed AlgN-modules and that Phi : U -> V is a module isomorphism. Then U = V and there exists a non-zero complex number lambda such that Phi(T) = lambda T, for all T is an element of U.

Abstract:Let F be an archimedean local field and let E be (resp. a quadratic extension of F ). We prove that an irreducible generic (resp. nearly tempered) representation of is distinguished if and only if its Rankin-Selberg (resp. Asai) L -function has an exceptional pole of level zero at 0. Further, we deduce a necessary condition for the ramification of such representations using the theory of weak test vectors developed by Humphries and Jo.

A conjecture concerning *-algebras that unifies some matrix decompositions

Abstract:In this note, we propose a simple-looking but broad conjecture about star-algebras over the field of real numbers. The conjecture enables many matrix decompositions to be represented by star-algebras and star-ideals. This paper is written for people with a background in representation theory and module theory. The motivation for investigating this is the possibility of expressing polymorphic algorithms in numerical and theoretical linear algebra. This is similar to but different from algebraic (semiring based) approaches to dynamic programming. We prove certain cases of the conjecture.

Abstract:First, we prove an algebraization result for rig-smooth algebras over a general noetherian ring; this positively answers the question raised in [Sta24, Tag 0GAX]. Then we prove a general partial algebraization result in non-archimedean geometry. The result says that we can always algebraize a geometrically reduced affinoid rigid-analytic space in "one direction" in an appropriate sense. As an application of this result, we show the remaining cases of the Artin-Grothendieck Vanishing for affinoid algebras, which were previously conjectured in [BM21, §7]. This allows us to deduce a stronger version of the rigid-analytic Artin-Grothendieck Vanishing Conjecture (see [Han20, Conj. 1.2]) over a field of characteristic 0. Using a completely different set of ideas, we also obtain a weaker version of this conjecture over a field of characteristic p>0.

A parametrization of nonassociative cyclic algebras of prime degree

Abstract:We determine and explicitly parametrize the isomorphism classes of nonassociative quaternion algebras over a field of characteristic different from two, as well as the isomorphism classes of nonassociative cyclic algebras of odd prime degree when the base field contains a primitive $m$th root of unity. In the course of doing so, we prove that any two such algebras can be isomorphic only if the cyclic field extension and the chosen generator of the Galois group are the same. As an application, we give a parametrization of nonassociative cyclic algebras of prime degree over a local nonarchimedean field $F$, which is entirely explicit under mild hypotheses on the residual characteristic. In particular, this gives a rich understanding of the important class of nonassociative quaternion algebras up to isomorphism over nonarchimedean local fields.

Abstract:A monomial algebra is the quotient of a polynomial algebra by an ideal generated by monomials. We prove that finite monomial algebras are characterized by their automorphism group among finite, local algebras with cotangent space of fixed dimension.
