Abstract:In this note, we study U(n) Soergel bimodules in the context of stable homotopy theory. We define the $(\infty, 1)$-category $\mathrm{SBim}_E(n)$ of $E$-valued U(n) Soergel bimodules, where $E$ is a connective $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-ring spectrum, and assemble them into a monoidal locally additive $(\infty, 2)$-category $\mathrm{SBim}_E$. When $E$ has a complex orientation, we then construct a braiding, i.e. an $\mathbb{E}_2$-algebra structure, on the universal locally stable $(\infty, 2)$-category $\mathrm{K}^b_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathrm{SBim}_E)$ associated to $\mathrm{SBim}_E$. Along the way, we also prove spectral analogs of standard splittings of Soergel bimodules. This is a topological generalization of the type $A$ Soergel bimodule theory developed in a previous paper.

Abstract:We compute the kernel of the stabilization map for $K_1$-functors modeled on split Chevalley groups of types $B_l, C_l, E_l$ one step below the stable range. For the groups of type $B_l$ this implies early injective stability for $K_1(B_l, R)$ over a certain class of rings.

Abstract:We prove an analogue of Miller's stable splitting of the unitary group $U(m)$ for spaces of commuting elements in $U(m)$. After inverting $m!$, the space $\text{Hom}(\mathbb{Z}^n,U(m))$ splits stably as a wedge of Thom-like spaces of bundles of commuting varieties over certain partial flag manifolds. Using Steenrod operations we prove that our splitting does not hold integrally. Analogous decompositions for symplectic and orthogonal groups as well as homological results for the one-point compactification of the commuting variety in a Lie algebra are also provided.

Abstract:Dwyer, Miller and Wilkerson proved that at the prime 2, the classifying spaces of SU(2) and SO(3) can be obtained as a homotopy pushout of the classifying spaces of certain subgroups. In this paper we show explicitly how these decompositions arise from the fusion systems of SU(2) and SO(3) over maximal discrete 2-toral subgroups.

Abstract:We address the general problem of studying linear stability and bifurcations of periodic orbits for Hamiltonian systems of arbitrary degrees of freedom. We study the topology of the GIT sequence introduced by the first author and Urs frauenfelder, in arbitrary dimension. In particular, we note that the combinatorics encoding the linear stability of periodic orbits is governed by a quotient of the associahedron. Our approach gives a topological/combinatorial proof of the classical Krein--Moser theorem, and refines it for the case of symmetric orbits.

Invariant splitting principles for the Lipshitz--Ozsváth--Thurston correspondence

Abstract:We prove that the Lipshitz-Ozsváth-Thurston correspondence between extended type D structures of knot complements and $\mathbb{F}[U, V]/(UV)$ knot Floer complexes can be arranged so that $\iota_K$-invariant splittings of knot Floer chain complexes correspond to $\iota_{S^3 \setminus K}$-invariant splittings of bordered Floer homology of knot complements. For patterns satisfying the satellite extension property, which include cabling patterns, this provides a novel way to compute the involutive knot Floer homology of satellites from that of their companions. As a topological application, we show that our results can be applied to construct infinitely many examples of exotic pairs of contractible 4-manifolds which remain exotic after one stabilization. Along the way, we also establish first order naturality of bordered Floer homology.

Abstract:We study a closed differential form on the symmetric space of positive definite matrices, which is defined using the Pfaffian and is $\mathsf{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb{Z})$ invariant up to a sign. It gives rise to an infinite family of unstable classes in the compactly-supported cohomology of the locally symmetric space for $\mathsf{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb{Z})$ with coefficients in the orientation bundle. Furthermore, by applying the Pfaffian forms to the dual Laplacian of graphs, and integrating them over the space of edge lengths, we construct an infinite family of cocycles for the odd commutative graph complex. By explicit computation, we show that the first such cocycle gives a non-trivial class in $H^{-6}(\mathsf{GC}_3)$.

$K(2)$-local splittings of finite Galois extensions of $MU\langle6\rangle$ and $MString$

Abstract:Using a Milnor-Moore argument we show that, $K(2)$-locally at the prime $2$, the spectra $MU\langle 6\rangle$ and $MString$ split as direct sums of Morava $E$-theories after tensoring with a finite Galois extension of the sphere called $E^{hF_{3/2}}$. In the case of $MString$ we are able to refine this splitting in several ways: we show that the projection maps are determined by spin characteristic classes, that the Ando-Hopkins-Rezk orientation admits a unital section after tensoring with $E^{hF_{3/2}}$, and that the splitting can be improved to one of $E^{hH}\otimes MString$ into a direct sum of shifts of $TMF_0(3)$ where $H$ is an open subgroup of the Morava stabilizer group of index $4$.

Abstract:We define a birational version of the stability of cotangent sheaves for complex projective manifolds, and more generally for smooth orbifolds. We then show, using standard conjectures in birational classification, that these cotangent sheaves are birationally stable, unless the orbifold is uniruled.

Abstract:The weak geometric P=W conjecture of L. Katzarkov, A. Noll, P. Pandit, and C. Simpson states that, a smooth Betti moduli space of complex dimension $d$ over a punctured Riemann surface has the dual boundary complex homotopy equivalent to a sphere of dimension $d-1$. Via a microlocal geometric perspective, we verify this conjecture for a class of rank $n$ wild character varieties over the two-sphere with one puncture, associated with any Stokes Legendrian link defined by an $n$-strand positive braid.

Abstract:Continuing the study in hep-th/0004092 and hep-th/0004092, we investigate a non-trivial string dynamical process related to orientifold planes, i.e., the splitting of physical NS-branes and D(p+2)-branes on orientifold Op-planes. Creation or annihilation of physical Dp-branes usually accompanies the splitting process. In the particular case p=4, we use Seiberg-Witten curves as an independent method to check the results.

Abstract:We adapt algorithms for resolving the singularities of complex algebraic varieties to prove that the natural map of homology theories from complex bordism to the bordism theory of complex derived orbifolds splits. In equivariant stable homotopy theory, our techniques yield a splitting of homology theories for the map from bordism to the equivariant bordism theory of a finite group $\Gamma$, given by assigning to a manifold its product with $\Gamma$. In symplectic topology, and using recent work of Abouzaid-McLean-Smith and Hirshi-Swaminathan, we conclude that one can define complex cobordism-valued Gromov-Witten invariant for arbirary (closed) symplectic manifolds. We apply our results to constrain the topology of the space of Hamiltonian fibrations over $S^2$. The methods we develop apply to normally complex orbifolds, and will hence lead to applications in symplectic topology that rely on moduli spaces of holomorphic curves with Lagrangian boundary conditions.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number, $K$ a finite extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ and $n$ an integer $\geq 2$. We completely and explicitly describe the global sections $\Omega^\bullet$ of the de Rham complex of the Drinfeld space over $K$ in dimension $n-1$ as a complex of (duals of) locally $K$-analytic representations of $\mathrm{GL}_n(K)$.
