Abstract:We give a complete proof of the generalized Khavinson conjecture which states that, for bounded harmonic functions on the unit ball of $\mathbb{R}^n$, the sharp constants in the estimates for their radial derivatives and for their gradients coincide.

Abstract:We verify that if M is a compact minimal submanifold with boundary in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\sum \nolimits _{i=1}^{k}\lambda _i\ge \frac{2n\pi }{e}k^{\frac{n+2}{n}}{{\,\mathrm{vol}\,}}(M)^{-\frac{2}{n}}$$, where $$\lambda _i$$ is the ith Dirichlet eigenvalue of the Laplacian on M. This provides an evidence for that the generalized Pólya conjecture is true. We also prove that if M is a complete and non-compact minimal submanifold in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\gamma _n N_\alpha (V)\le \int _M(V-\alpha )_{-}^{n/2}(x)dx$$, where $$N_\alpha (V)$$ is the number of eigenvalues($$\le \alpha $$) of the Schrödinger operator $$-\Delta +V$$ on M and $$\gamma _n$$ is an explicit positive constant depending only on n.

Abstract:The famous Lévy-Khintchine theorem is a beautiful limiting law for the denominators of the convergents of the continued fraction expansion of a real number. In a recent breakthrough, Cheung and Chevallier (Annales scientifiques de l'ENS, 2024) extended this theorem to higher dimensions. In this paper, we consider multiple generalizations of the definition of the best approximates of a matrix and prove analogues of the Lévy-Khintchine theorem for all these generalizations. A special case of our theorem answers a question posed by Cheung and Chevallier about Lévy-Khintchine type theorems for arbitrary norms. Another notable instance of our results resolves a conjecture of Yitwah Cheung. While our findings are new for higher dimensions, even in the one-dimensional case our work is a significant improvement over available results. Notably, we extend the results of Cheung and Chevallier by proving their theorems for any Birkhoff generic point and by permitting the best approximates to satisfy additional geometric and arithmetic conditions. Moreover, our main theorem, from which the above results follow, also extends the recent work of Shapira and Weiss.

Abstract:The famous Newton-Kantorovich hypothesis has been used for a long time as a sufficient condition for the convergence of Newton's method to a solution of an equation. Here we present a ''Kantorovich type'' convergence analysis for the Gauss-Newton's method which improves the result in [W.M. Hauszler, A Kantorovich-type convergence analysis for the Gauss-Newton-method, Numer. Math. 48 (1986) 119-125.] and extends the main theorem in [I.K. Argyros, On the Newton-Kantorovich hypothesis for solving equations, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 169 (2004) 315-332]. Furthermore, the radius of convergence ball is also obtained.
Generalized Bohr inequalities for K-quasiconformal harmonic mappings and their applications

Abstract:The classical Bohr theorem and its subsequent generalizations have become active areas of research, with investigations conducted in numerous function spaces. Let $\{\psi_n(r)\}_{n=0}^\infty$ be a sequence of non-negative continuous functions defined on $[0,1)$ such that the series $\sum_{n=0}^\infty \psi_n(r)$ converges locally uniformly on the interval $[0, 1)$. The main objective of this paper is to establish several sharp versions of generalized Bohr inequalities for the class of $K$-quasiconformal sense-preserving harmonic mappings on the unit disk $\D := \{z \in \mathbb{C} : |z| < 1\}$. To achieve these, we employ the sequence of functions $\{\psi_n(r)\}_{n=0}^\infty$ in the majorant series rather than the conventional dependence on the basis sequence $\{r^n\}_{n=0}^\infty$. As applications, we derive a number of previously published results as well as a number of sharply improved and refined Bohr inequalities for harmonic mappings in $\D$. Moreover, we obtain a convolution counterpart of the Bohr theorem for harmonic mapping within the context of the Gaussian hypergeometric function

Extremal affine subspaces and Khintchine-Jarník type theorems

Abstract:We prove a conjecture of Kleinbock which gives a clear-cut classification of all extremal affine subspaces of $\mathbb{R}^n$. We also give an essentially complete classification of all Khintchine type affine subspaces, except for some boundary cases within two logarithmic scales. More general Jarník type theorems are proved as well, sometimes without the monotonicity of the approximation function. These results follow as consequences of our novel estimates for the number of rational points close to an affine subspace in terms of diophantine properties of its defining matrix. Our main tool is the multidimensional large sieve inequality and its dual form.

Abstract:We present a self-contained proof of a uniform bound on multi-point correlations of trigonometric functions of a class of Gaussian random fields. It corresponds to a special case of the general situation considered in Hairer and Xu (large-scale limit of interface fluctuation models. ArXiv e-prints arXiv:1802.08192, 2018), but with improved estimates. As a consequence, we establish convergence of a class of Gaussian fields composite with more general functions. These bounds and convergences are useful ingredients to establish weak universalities of several singular stochastic PDEs.
A direct approach to sharp Li-Yau Estimates on closed manifolds with negative Ricci lower bound

Abstract:Recently, Qi S.Zhang [26] has derived a sharp Li-Yau estimate for positive solutions of the heat equation on closed Riemannian manifolds with the Ricci curvature bounded below by a negative constant. The proof is based on an integral iteration argument which utilizes Hamilton's gradient estimate, heat kernel Gaussian bounds and parabolic Harnack inequality. In this paper, we show that the sharp Li-Yau estimate can actually be obtained directly following the classical maximum principle argument, which simplifies the proof in [26]. In addition, we apply the same idea to the heat and conjugate heat equations under the Ricci flow and prove some Li-Yau type estimates with optimal coefficients.

Abstract:Under suitable conditions on the range of the Gauss map of a complete submanifold of Euclidean space with parallel mean curvature, we construct a strongly subharmonic function and derive a-priori estimates for the harmonic Gauss map. The required conditions here are more general than in previous work and they therefore enable us to improve substantially previous results for the Lawson–Osseman problem concerning the regularity of minimal submanifolds in higher codimension and to derive Bernstein type results.

Abstract:When the sectional curvature of the target manifold is negative, we establish a Schwarz lemma for f-harmonic maps, if the dimension of the domain and the target is large, the result improves Theorem 3 in Chen and Zhao (2017) for the case of V=∇f. When the sectional curvature of the target is nonpositive, we obtain a Liouville theorem for the general V-harmonic maps, as a consequence, any V-harmonic function u, satisfying |u(x)|=o(r(x)), on a complete Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Bakry–Emery–Ricci curvature is a constant. We also give some applications on gradient Ricci solitons and gradient solitons with potential which are solutions to Ricci-harmonic flow.
Sharp $\mathrm{L}^\infty$ estimates for fully non-linear elliptic equations on compact complex manifolds

Abstract:We study the sharp $\mathrm{L}^\infty$ estimates for fully non-linear elliptic equations on compact complex manifolds. For the case of Kähler manifolds, we prove that the oscillation of any admissible solution to a degenerate fully non-linear elliptic equation satisfying several structural conditions can be controlled by the $\mathrm{L}^1(\log\mathrm{L})^n(\log\log\mathrm{L})^r(r>n)$ norm of the right-hand function (in a regularized form). This result improves that of Guo-Phong-Tong. In addition to their method of comparison with auxiliary complex Monge-Ampère equations, our proof relies on an inequality of Hölder-Young type and an iteration lemma of De Giorgi type. For the case of Hermitian manifolds with non-degenerate background metrics, we prove a similar $\mathrm{L}^\infty$ estimate which improves that of Guo-Phong. An explicit example is constucted to show that the $\mathrm{L}^\infty$ estimates given here may fail when $r\leqslant n-1$. The construction relies on a gluing lemma of smooth, radial, strictly plurisubharmonic functions.

Abstract:This paper continues the line of research where one shows a Bernsteintype theorem, namely, that a complete minimal submanifold of a Euclidean space has to be affine linear, by proving that its Gauss map is constant. This Gauss map is a harmonic map into some Grassmann manifold. Therefore, we need geometric conditions on the target of the Gauss map which imply that, being harmonic, it has to be constant. For this purpose, we identify a region W 1/3 in a Grassmann manifoldG(n,m,) not covered by a usualmatrix coordinate chart, with the following important property. For a complete n-submanifold M of Rn+m with n >= 3, and m >= 2, with parallel mean curvature whose image under the Gauss map is contained in a compact subset K subset of W 1/3 subset of G(n,m), we can construct strongly subharmonic functions on M and derive a priori estimates for the harmonic Gauss map, to eventually show that it is constant. While we do not know yet how close our region is to being optimal in this respect, it is substantially larger than what could be achieved previously with other methods. Consequently, this enables us to obtain substantially stronger Bernstein-type theorems in higher codimension than previously known. We also provide some new explicit computations for the example of Lawson and Osserman [18].
On convergence properties for generalized Schrödinger operators along tangential curves

Abstract:In this paper, we consider convergence properties for generalized Schrödinger operators along tangential curves in $\mathbb{R}^{n} \times \mathbb{R}$ with less smoothness comparing with Lipschitz condition. Firstly, we obtain sharp convergence rate for generalized Schrödinger operators with polynomial growth along tangential curves in $\mathbb{R}^{n} \times \mathbb{R}$, $n \ge 1$. Secondly, it was open until now on pointwise convergence of solutions to the Schrödinger equation along non-$C^1$ curves in $\mathbb{R}^{n} \times \mathbb{R}$, $n\geq 2$, we obtain the corresponding results along some tangential curves when $n=2$ by the broad-narrow argument and polynomial partitioning. Moreover, the corresponding convergence rate will follow. Thirdly, we get the convergence result along a family of restricted tangential curves in $\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}$. As a consequence, we obtain the sharp $L^p$-Schrödinger maximal estimates along tangential curves in $\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}$.

The proof is achieved by means of a new quantitative Carleman estimate that we derive for the corresponding extension problem combined with a quantitative monotonicity in time result and a compactness argument.

A Khintchine inequality for central Fourier series on non-Kac compact quantum groups

Abstract:The study of Khintchin inequalities has a long history in abstract harmonic analysis. While there is almost no possibility of non-trivial Khintchine inequality for central Fourier series on compact connected semisimple Lie groups, we demonstrate a strong contrast within the framework of compact quantum groups. Specifically, we establish a Khintchine inequality with operator coefficients for arbitrary central Fourier series in a large class of non-Kac compact quantum groups. The main examples include the Drinfeld-Jimbo $q$-deformations $G_q$, the free orthogonal quantum groups $O_F^+$, and the quantum automorphism group $G_{aut}(B,\psi)$ with a $\delta$-form $\psi$.

Abstract:In [11, 12], Liu and the second author propose a definition of the quasi-local mass and prove its positivity. This is demonstrated through an inequality which in turn can be interpreted as a total mean curvature comparison theorem for isometric embeddings of a surface of positive Gaussian curvature. The Riemannian version corresponds to an earlier theorem of Shi and Tam [18]. In this article, we generalize such an inequality to the case when the Gaussian curvature of the surface is allowed to be negative. This is done by an isometric embedding into the hyperboloid in the Minkowski space and a future-directed time-like quasi-local energy-momentum is obtained.
