Abstract:We study the Liouville-type theorem for smooth solutions to the steady 3D tropical climate model. We prove the Liouville-type theorem if a smooth solution satisfies a certain growth condition in terms of $L^p$-norm on annuli, which improves the previous results, Theorem 1.1 (Math. Methods Appl. Sci. 44, 2021) by Ding and Wu, and Theorem 1.1 and Theorem 1.2 (Appl. Math. Lett. 138, 2023) by Yuan and Wang.

Abstract:We obtain the global well-posedness of classical solutions to a tropical climate model with only the dissipation of the first baroclinic model of the velocity (−ηΔv) under small initial data. This model is a modified version of the original system derived by Frierson-Majda-Pauluis in Frierson et al. [Commun. Math. Sci. 2, 591-626 (2004)]. The main difficulty is the absence of thermal diffusion. To overcome it, we exploit the structure of the equations coming from the coupled terms, dissipation term, and damp term. Then, we find the hidden thermal diffusion. In addition, based on the Littlewood-Paley theory, we establish a generalized commutator estimate, which may be applied to other partial differential equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Liouville-type property for smooth solutions to the steady 3D tropical climate model. We prove that if a smooth solution $(u,v,\theta)$ satisfies $u \in L^3 (\mathbb{R}^3)$, $v \in L^2 (\mathbb{R}^3)$, and $\nabla \theta \in L^2 (\mathbb{R}^3)$, then $u=v=0$ and $\theta$ is constant, which improves the previous result, Theorem 1.3 (Math. Methods Appl. Sci. 44, 2021) by Ding and Wu.

Global well-posedness of solutions of the three-dimensional generalized tropical climate model with partial viscosity and damping is proved for $\alpha\geq\frac{3}{2}$ and $\beta\geq4$. Global smooth solution of the three-dimensional generalized tropical climate model with partial viscosity and damping is proved in $H^s(\mathbb R^3)$ $(s>2)$ for $\alpha\geq\frac{3}{2}$ and $4\leq\beta\leq5$.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the global regularity of smooth solutions to 2D surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) equations with super-critical dissipation for a class of large initial data, where the velocity and temperature can be arbitrarily large in spaces $L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^2)$ and $H^3(\mathbb{R}^2)$. This result could be seen as an improvement work of Liu-Pan-Wu \cite{Liu}, for it's without any smallness hypothesis of the $L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^2)$ norm of the initial data.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the existence of the unique global classical solution with small initial data to the Cauchy problem of a scalar conservation law with degenerate diffusion by establishing the uniform a priori decay estimates of solutions. In order to compensate the degeneracy on the x1 direction by the diffusion on other directions, we introduce the frequency decomposition method and obtain the low frequency estimate and the high frequency estimate of the solution by the Green's function method and energy method respectively.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the global well-posedness for the 3D Boussinesq equations. Firstly, we prove the global existence and uniqueness of the solution in critical space for small initial data. Then, aimed at the large initial data giving rise to global solution, we obtain a certain class of large solutions with initial data slowly varying in one direction. The proof relies on the special structure of the equation and some new refined estimates for the velocity and temperature.

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem ($\mathbb{R}^d, d=2,3$) and the initial boundary values problem ($\mathbb{T}^d, d=2,3$)associated to the compressible Oldroyd-B model which is first derived by Barrett, Lu and Süli [Existence of large-data finite-energy global weak solutions to a compressible Oldroyd-B model, Commun. Math. Sci., 15 (2017), 1265--1323] through micro-macro-analysis of the compressible Navier-Stokes-Fokker-Planck system.Due to lack of stress diffusion, the problems considered here are very difficult. Exploiting tools from harmonic analysis,notably the Littlewood Paley theory,we first establish the global well-posedness and time-decay rates for solutions of the model with small initial data in Besov spaces with critical regularity.Then, through deeply exploring and fully utilizing the structure of the perturbation system,we obtain the global well-posedness and exponential decay rates for solutions of the model with small initial data in the Soboles spaces $H^3(\mathbb{T}^d)$.Our obtained results improve considerably the recent results by Lu, Pokorný [Anal. Theory Appl., 36 (2020), 348--372],Wang, Wen [Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci., 30 (2020), 139--179],and Liu, Lu, Wen [SIAM J. Math. Anal., 53 (2021), 6216--6242].

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for a class of complex conservation laws, which is introduced by P.D. Lax and essentially a class of quasilinear hyperbolic systems in two space dimensions. For a kind of flux functions, we prove the global existence of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem with small initial data. On the other hand, for different kinds of flux functions, we give some estimates on the lower bound of the life span of smooth solutions.

Abstract:A two-dimensional inviscid and diffusive Oldroyd-B model was investigated by Elgindi and Rousset (2015) where the global existence and uniqueness of the strong solution were established for arbitrarily large initial data. As pointed out by Bhave et al. (1991), since the diffusion coefficient is significantly smaller than other effects, it is interesting to study the non-diffusive model. In the present work, we obtain the global-in-time existence and uniqueness of the strong solution to the non-diffusive model with small initial data by deriving some uniform regularity estimates and taking vanishing diffusion limits. In addition, the large time behavior of the solution is studied and the optimal time-decay rates for each order of spatial derivatives are obtained. The main challenges focus on the lack of dissipation and regularity effects of the system and on the slower decay in the two-dimensional settings. A combination of the spectral analysis and the Fourier splitting method is adopted.

Abstract:We start with the compressible Oldroyd-B model derived in [2] (J. W. Barrett, Y. Lu, and E. Suli, Existence of large-data finite-energy global weak solutions to a compressible Oldroyd-B model, Commun. Math. Sci., 15 (2017), 1265-1323), where the existence of global-in-time finite-energy weak solutions was shown in two dimensional setting with stress diffusion. In the paper, we investigate the case without stress diffusion. We first restrict ourselves to the corotational setting as in [28] (P. L. Lions, and N. Masmoudi, Global solutions for some Oldroyd models of non-Newtonian flows, Chin. Ann. Math., Ser. B, 21(2) (2000), 131-146) We further assume the extra stress tensor is a scalar matrix and we derive a simplified model which takes a similar form as the multi-component compressible Navier-Stokes equations, where, however, the pressure term related to the scalar extra stress tensor has the opposite sign. By employing the techniques developed in [30, 35], we can still prove the global-in-time existence of finite energy weak solutions in two or three dimensions, without the presence of stress diffusion.
