Abstract:The workshop will focus on the application of artificial intelligence to problems in cyber security. AICS 2020 emphasis will be on human-machine teaming within the context of cyber security problems and will specifically explore collaboration between human operators and AI technologies. The workshop will address applicable areas of AI, such as machine learning, game theory, natural language processing, knowledge representation, automated and assistive reasoning and human machine interactions. Further, cyber security application areas with a particular emphasis on the characterization and deployment of human-machine teaming will be the focus.

Abstract:The workshop will focus on the application of AI to problems in cyber security. Cyber systems generate large volumes of data, utilizing this effectively is beyond human capabilities. Additionally, adversaries continue to develop new attacks. Hence, AI methods are required to understand and protect the cyber domain. These challenges are widely studied in enterprise networks, but there are many gaps in research and practice as well as novel problems in other domains. In general, AI techniques are still not widely adopted in the real world. Reasons include: (1) a lack of certification of AI for security, (2) a lack of formal study of the implications of practical constraints (e.g., power, memory, storage) for AI systems in the cyber domain, (3) known vulnerabilities such as evasion, poisoning attacks, (4) lack of meaningful explanations for security analysts, and (5) lack of analyst trust in AI solutions. There is a need for the research community to develop novel solutions for these practical issues.

Abstract:It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 4th ACM Workshop on Artificial Intelligence & Security — AISec’2011. This year’s workshop continues on its original mission of stimulating collaboration and cross-pollination between the Security & Privacy and Artificial Intelligence research communities. We are delighted to once again be co-located with the premier ACM Computer and Communication Security (CCS 2011) conference. The call for papers attracted 18 high quality submissions spanning North & South America, Europe, the Middle East & Asia, and representing both academia and industry. Of these submissions, the Program Committee accepted 7 research papers and 3 position papers, making for a wonderful program that will bring together leading researchers with backgrounds in both Security & Privacy and AI. This year’s ACM AISec will cover such topics as identifying workers hired online for web service abuse, malware and malicious webpage detection, probabilistic attack planning, and intrusion analysis. In addition the program includes an exciting keynote by Prof. Dawn Song of UC Berkeley who is an internationally recognized leader in Security & Privacy research with extensive experience applying state-of-the-art techniques from Machine Learning to exposing vulnerabilities in real-world systems and to developing robust defenses. These proceedings feature an invited paper, Adversarial Machine Learning, following from the AISec’2010 keynote delivered by Prof. J. D. Tygar (UC Berkeley), whose work investigates Machine Learning through the lens of Security & Privacy, an important topic also covered by one of this year’s position papers.

Abstract:The 1st International Workshop on Adaptive Cyber Defense was held as part of the 2021 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. This workshop was organized to share research that explores unique applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) as foundational capabilities for the pursuit of adaptive cyber defense. The cyber domain cannot currently be reliably and effectively defended without extensive reliance on human experts. Skilled cyber defenders are in short supply and often cannot respond fast enough to cyber threats. Building on recent advances in AI and ML the Cyber defense research community has been motivated to develop new dynamic and sustainable defenses through the adoption of AI and ML techniques to both cyber and non-cyber settings. Bridging critical gaps between AI and Cyber researchers and practitioners can accelerate efforts to create semi-autonomous cyber defenses that can learn to recognize and respond to cyber attacks or discover and mitigate weaknesses in cooperation with other cyber operation systems and human experts. Furthermore, these defenses are expected to be adaptive and able to evolve over time to thwart changes in attacker behavior, changes in the system health and readiness, and natural shifts in user behavior over time. The Workshop (held on August 19th and 20th 2021 in Montreal-themed virtual reality) was comprised of technical presentations and a panel discussion focused on open problems and potential research solutions. Workshop submissions were peer reviewed by a panel of domain experts with a proceedings consisting of 10 technical articles exploring challenging problems of critical importance to national and global security. Participation in this workshop offered new opportunities to stimulate research and innovation in the emerging domain of adaptive and autonomous cyber defense.

Abstract:It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 9th ACM Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Security --- AISec 2016. AISec, having been annually co-located with CCS for nine consecutive years, is the premier meeting place for researchers interested in the intersection of security, privacy, AI, and machine learning. Its role as a venue has been to merge practical security problems with advances in AI and machine learning. In doing so, researchers also have been developing theory and analytics unique to this domain and have explored diverse topics such as learning in game-theoretic adversarial environments, privacy-preserving learning, and applications to spam and intrusion detection. AISec 2016 drew a record 38 submissions, of which 12 (32%) were selected for publication and presentation. Submissions arrived from researchers in 16 countries, from a wide variety of institutions both academic and corporate. The accepted papers were organized into the following thematic groups: Security Data Sets: Collection and analysis of data that can serve as a baseline for AI/ML research in security. Machine Learning and Security in Practice: Systems that use machine learning to solve a particular security problem. Foundations: Theoretical constructs and best practices for applying machine learning to security. Privacy: Attacks on user privacy or anonymity, and privacy-preserving constructions of machine learning systems. The keynote address will be given by Elie Bursztein of Google, Inc., whose talk is entitled, "Why is applying machine learning to anti-abuse so hard?" In this talk, Dr. Bursztein will discuss challenges in the reproducibility of scientific results from machine learning algorithms and what we can do about it. Dr. Bursztein's talk will touch on issues arising from proprietary hardware, dataset availability, adversarial machine learning, and the ethics of data. He will also consider several privacy questions related to machine learning models.

Abstract:The Robust Artificial Intelligence System Assurance (RAISA) workshop will focus on research, development and application of robust artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) systems. Rather than studying robustness with respect to particular ML algorithms, our approach will be to explore robustness assurance at the system architecture level, during both development and deployment, and within the human-machine teaming context. While the research community is converging on robust solutions for individual AI models in specific scenarios, the problem of evaluating and assuring the robustness of an AI system across its entire life cycle is much more complex. Moreover, the operational context in which AI systems are deployed necessitates consideration of robustness and its relation to principles of fairness, privacy, and explainability.

Abstract:The organizing Committee of AICT 2023 was proud to present the proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Communication Technology (AICT 2023), which was held on May 30-31, 2023 in Chongqing, China. The aim as well as objective of this AICT is to present the latest research and results of scientists related to Artificial Intelligence, Communication Technology and related topics. This conference provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas face-to-face, to establish business or research relations as well as to find global partners for future collaborations. We hope that the conference results will lead to significant contributions to the knowledge in these up-to-date scientific fields. All full paper submissions to the AICT 2023 must be written in English, and will be sent to 2-4 reviewers and evaluated based on originality, technical or research content, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability. The full paper submissions will be chosen based on technical merit, interest, applicability, and how well they fit a coherent and balanced technical program. This AICT conference has received 93 manuscripts. And less than 50 articles were accepted by our reviewers and the press. By submitting a paper to this AICT conference, the authors agree to the review process and understand that papers undergo a peer-review process. Manuscripts will be reviewed by appropriately qualified experts in the field selected by the Conference Committee, who will give detailed comments and-if the submission gets accepted-the authors submit a revised version that takes into account this feedback. All papers are reviewed using a double-blind review process: authors declare their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers do not know each other's identities, nor do the authors receive information about who has reviewed their manuscript. The Committees of this 2nd AICT invest great efforts in reviewing the papers submitted to the conference and organizing the sessions to enable the participants to gain maximum benefit.
