Abstract:It is shown that if the boundary of a Reinhardt domain in $\mathbb{C}^n$ contains the origin, each holomorphic function on the domain which is infinitely many times differentiable up to the boundary extends holomorphically to a neighborhood of the origin.

Abstract:In complex dynamics, the boundaries of higher dimensional hyperbolic components in holomorphic families of polynomials or rational maps are mysterious objects, whose topological and analytic properties are fundamental problems. In this paper, we show that in some typical families of polynomials (i.e. algebraic varieties defined by periodic critical relations), the boundary of a capture hyperbolic component ℋ is homeomorphic to the sphere S^2_ℂ(ℋ)-1. Furthermore, we establish an unexpected identity for the Hausdorff dimension of ∂ℋ: H.dim(∂ℋ) = 2 _ℂ(ℋ)-2+max_f∈∂ℋH.dim(∂ A^J(f)), where A^J(f) is the union of the bounded attracting Fatou components of f associated with the free critical points in the Julia set J(f). In the proof, some new results with independent interests are discovered.

Abstract:We survey a number of recent generalizations and sharpenings of Nehari's extension of Schwarz' lemma for holomorphic self-maps of the unit disk. In particular, we discuss the case of infinitely many critical points and its relation to the zero sets and invariant subspaces for Bergman spaces, as well as the case of equality at the boundary.

Abstract:One of the most fundamental problems in complex geometry is to determine when two bounded domains in C-n are biholomorphically equivalent. Even for complete Reinhardt domains, this fundamental problem remains unsolved completely for many years. Using the Bergmann function theory, we construct an infinite family of numerical invariants from the Bergman functions for complete Reinhardt domains in Cn. These infinite family of numerical invariants are actually a complete set of invariants if the domains are pseudoconvex with C-1 boundaries. For bounded complete Reinhardt domains with real analytic boundaries, the complete set of numerical invariants can be reduced dramatically although the set is still infinite. As a consequence, we have constructed the natural moduli spaces for these domains for the first time.

Abstract:We study 1-parameter families of holomorphic curves with Lagrangian boundary in Calabi-Yau 3-folds. We show that the expected codimension-1 phenomena can be organized to match the HOMFLYPT skein relations from quantum topology. It follows that counting holomorphic curves by the class of their boundaries in the skein module of the Lagrangian gives a deformation invariant result. This is a mathematically rigorous incarnation of Witten's assertion that boundaries of open topological strings create line defects in Chern-Simons theory. Using this theory, we rigorously establish the following prediction of Ooguri and Vafa: the coefficients of the HOMFLYPT polynomial of a link in the three-sphere count the holomorphic curves in the resolved conifold, with boundary on (a pushoff of) the link conormal.

Abstract:Let D be a domain in ℂ n . It is known that if D is a simply connected bounded domain in ℂ with spherical real analytic boundary ∂D, then every local biholomorphic map at boundary as above extends to a biholomorphic map from D onto the unit ball in ℂ n . As a consequence, a local biholomorphic map between D 1 and D 2 where D 1 and D 2 are simply connected domains in ℂ n with spherical real analytic boundaries can extend to a global biholomorphic map from D 1 onto D 2. If the boundary is algebraic, the simply connected condition in the above result can be dropped. In this note, we show that the above phenomenon is no longer true if domains are in algebraic varieties with isolated singularities.

Abstract:It is a classical theorem that if a function on the unit circle is integrable, then it is the nontangential limit of a holomorphic function on the open disc (subject to a certain growth condition) if and only if its Fourier coefficients for nonnegative integers are zero. In this article we generalize this result to higher complex dimensions by proving that for an integrable function on the unit sphere, it is a "boundary trace" of a holomorphic function on the open unit ball if and only if two particular families of integral equations are satisfied. To do this, we use the theory of Hardy spaces as well as the invariant Poisson and Cauchy integrals.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a relatively compact $C^2$ domain in a complex manifold $\mathcal M$ of dimension $n$. Assume that $H^{1}(M,\Theta)=0$ where $\Theta$ is the sheaf of germs of holomorphic tangent fields of $M$. Suppose that the Levi-form of the boundary of $M$ has at least 3 negative eigenvalues or at least $n-1$ positive eigenvalues pointwise. We will first construct a homotopy formula for $\Theta$-valued $(0,1)$-forms on $\overline M$. We then apply a Nash-Moser iteration scheme to show that if a formally integrable almost complex structure of the Hölder-Zygmund class $\Lambda^r$ on $\overline M$ is sufficiently close to the complex structure on $ M$ in the Hölder-Zygmund norm $\Lambda^{r_0}(\overline M)$ for some $r_0>5/2$, then there is a diffeomorphism $F$ from $\overline M$ into $\mathcal M$ that transforms the almost complex structure into the complex structure on $F(M)$, where $F \in \Lambda^s(M)$ for all $s<r+1/2$.

Boundary local integrability of rational functions in two variables

Abstract:Motivated by studying boundary singularities of rational functions in two variables that are analytic on a domain, we investigate local integrability on $\mathbb{R}^2$ near $(0,0)$ of rational functions with denominator non-vanishing in the bi-upper half-plane but with an isolated zero (with respect to $\mathbb{R}^2$) at the origin. Building on work of Bickel-Pascoe-Sola, we give a necessary and sufficient test for membership in a local $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^2)$ space and we give a complete description of all numerators $Q$ such that $Q/P$ is locally in a given $L^{p}$ space. As applications, we prove that every bounded rational function on the bidisk has partial derivatives belonging to $L^1$ on the two-torus. In addition, we give a new proof of a conjecture, started in Bickel-Knese-Pascoe-Sola and completed by Kollár, characterizing the ideal of $Q$ such that $Q/P$ is locally bounded. A larger takeaway from this work is that a local model for stable polynomials we employ is a flexible tool and may be of use for other local questions about stable polynomials.

Abstract:By introducing the Carathéodory metric, we establish the Schwarz lemma at the boundary for holomorphic self-mappings on the unit p-ball B of Cn. Furthermore, the boundary rigidity theorem for holomorphic self-mappings defined on B is obtained. These results cover the boundary Schwarz lemma and rigidity result for holomorphic self-mappings on the unit ball for p = 2, and the unit polydisk for p = ∞, respectively.

Abstract:In this article we introduce higher order Bergman functions for bounded complete Reinhardt domains in a variety with possibly isolated singularities. These Bergman functions are invariant under biholomorhic maps. We use Bergman functions to determine all the biholomorhic maps between two such domains. As a result, we can construct an infinite family of numerical invariants from the Bergman functions for such domains in A(n) variety {(x,y,z) is an element of C-3 : xy = z(n+1)}. These infinite family of numerical invariants are actually a complete set of invariants for either the set of all bounded strictly pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domain in A(n) variety or the set of all bounded pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domains with real analytic boundaries in A(n) variety. In particular the moduli space of these domains in A(n) variety is constructed explicitly as the image of this complete family of numerical invariants. It is well known that A(n) variety is the quotient of cyclic group of order n + 1 on C-2. We prove that the moduli space of bounded complete Reinhardt domains in A(n) variety coincides with the moduli space of the corresponding bounded complete Reinhardt domains in C-2. Since our complete family of numerical invariants are computable, we have solved the biholomorphically equivalent problem for large family of domainsin C-2

Abstract:We show that if a bounded domain $\Omega$ is exhausted by a bounded strictly pseudoconvex domain $D$ with $C^2$ boundary, then $\Omega$ is holomorphically equivalent to $D$ or the unit ball, and show that a bounded domain has to be holomorphically equivalent to the unit ball if its Fridman's invariant has certain growth condition near the boundary.

Abstract:Let $\Omega\subset\mathbb R^2$ be a chord arc domain. We give a simple proof of the the following fact, which is commonly known to be true: a nontrivial harmonic function which vanishes continuously on a relatively open set of the boundary cannot have the norm of the gradient which vanishes on a subset of positive surface measure (arc length). This result is conjectured to be true in higher dimensions by Lin, in Lipschitz domains. Let now $\Omega\subset\mathbb R^2$ be a $C^1$ domain with Dini mean oscillations. We prove that a nontrivial harmonic function which vanishes continuously on a relatively open subset of the boundary $\partial\Omega\cap B_1$ has a finite number of critical points in $\overline\Omega\cap B_{1/2}$. The latter improves some recent results by Kenig and Zhao. Our technique involves a conformal mapping which moves the boundary where the harmonic function vanishes into an interior nodal line of a new harmonic function, after a further reflection. Then, size estimates of the critical set - up to the boundary - of the original harmonic function can be understood in terms of estimates of the \emph{interior} critical set of the new harmonic function and of the critical set - up to the boundary - of the conformal mapping.

Serrin's overdetermined problem in rough domains

Abstract:The classical Serrin's overdetermined theorem states that a $C^2$ bounded domain, which admits a function with constant Laplacian that satisfies both constant Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, must necessarily be a ball. While extensions of this theorem to non-smooth domains have been explored since the 1990s, the applicability of Serrin's theorem to Lipschitz domains remained unresolved. This paper answers this open question affirmatively. Actually, our approach shows that the result holds for domains that are sets of finite perimeter with a uniform upper bound on the density, and it also allows for slit discontinuities.

Abstract:We make systematic developments on Lawson-Osserman constructions relating to the Dirichlet problem (over unit disks) for minimal surfaces of high codimension in their 1977' Acta paper. In particular, we show the existence of boundary functions for which infinitely many analytic solutions and at least one nonsmooth Lipschitz solution exist simultaneously. Abstract:Let $\Omega \subset \mathbb{C}^n$ be a domain whose Bergman space contains all holomorphic monomials. We derive sufficient conditions for $\Omega$ to be Reinhardt, complete Reinhardt, circular or Hartogs in terms of the orthogonality relations of the monomials with respect to their $L^2$-inner products and their $L^2$-norms. More generally, we give sufficient conditions for $\Omega$ to be invariant under a linear group action of an $r$-dimensional torus on $\Omega$.

Abstract:Let f be an Anosov diffeomorphism on a nilmanifold. We consider Birkhoff sums for a Holder continuous observation along periodic orbits. We show that if there are two Birkhoff sums distributed at both sides of zero, then the set of Birkhoff sums of all periodic points is dense in the whole set of real numbers.

Abstract:We prove the existence of a countable family of Delaunay type domains \Omega_j in M^n x R, where M^n is the Riemannian manifold S^n or H^n and n is at least 2, bifurcating from the cylinder B^n x R (where B^n is a geodesic ball of radius 1 in M^n) for which the first eigenfunction of the Laplace-Beltrami operator with zero Dirichlet boundary condition also has constant Neumann data at the boundary. The domains \Omega_j are rotationally symmetric and periodic with respect to the R-axis of the cylinder and as j converges to 0 the domain \Omega_j converges to the cylinder B^n x R.
