Abstract:The preparation of a series of 2-pyridinamines and their alkyl derivatives is described.The target compounds are synthesized starting from corresponding 2-cyanopyridines, via incomplete hydrolysis in the presence of hydrogen peroxide in the dilute alkaline mixture of acetone-2% sodium hydroxide solution, and Hoffmann degradation reaction with freshly made NaBrO.This route is of industrial value because of cheap and readily available materials, moderate reaction conditions and convenient operations.

Abstract:Room-temperature ortho-arylation and acetoxylation of anilides have been achieved using cationic palladium (Pd[TFA](+)) as catalyst and (NH4)(2)S2O8 as oxidant. Preliminary investigation of the mechanism suggests that palladium may have different oxidation states in the catalytic cycles of these two transformations.

Abstract:Palladium-catalyzed cyanation of aryl halides and pseudo halides with potassium hexacyanoferrate is described employing the hemilabile, bulky, and electron-rich MOP-type ligands. When the mixture of t-BuOH and H2O was used as the solvent and K2CO3 as the base, the MOP-type ligands showed high efficiency for the palladium-catalyzed cyanation. The effect of ligand structure was studied in detail, and 2-di-tert-butylphosphino-2-isopropoxy-1,1-binaphthyl was the more effective for the cyanation. The catalyst system allows the cyanation of unactivated aryl chlorides, and even aryl mesylates to occur in good yields. Furthermore, the reactivity of different arylated reagents in the catalytic system was found to be: ArBr > ArCl >> ArOMs > ArOSO(2)Im > ArOSO2NMe2.

Abstract:We herein describe a nickel-catalyzed cyanation reaction of aryl/alkenyl halides with alkyl isocyanides. Both aryl/alkenyl iodines and bromides were found to be competent electrophiles that reacted with alkyl isocyanides, affording nitrile compounds in moderate to good yields. A range of functional groups including halogens as well as hydroxyl, formyl, and acetamino groups were fairly compatible with the nickel catalysis. This protocol featured broad functional group tolerance, simple reaction conditions, and gram-scale synthesis.

Abstract:The direct transformation of aryl carboxylic acids to aryl nitrile compounds is an interesting topic because carboxylic acids are not only abundant in nature but are also inexpensive and stable. Here, the synthesis of a series of aryl nitriles by palladium-catalyzed decarbonylative cyanation of carboxylic acids without base has been achieved. The successful decarbonylative cyanation of drug molecules and Gram-scale reaction to verify the practicality and operability of this method are analyzed.

Abstract:2-Arylphenols were conveniently synthesized from aryl iodides and 6-diazo-2-cyclohexenones, in moderate to excellent yields, via tandem Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling/aromatization. The preliminary results for the corresponding enantioselective version showed that the coupling products could be generated in up to 72% ee.

Abstract:A denitrative cyanation of nitroarenes using organocyanides and a palladium catalyst was developed. The key for this reaction was the utilization of an aminoacetonitrile as a cyano source to avoid the generation of stoichiometric metal- and halogen-containing chemical waste. A wide range of nitroarenes, including heteroarenes and pharmaceutical molecules, can be converted into aryl nitriles.

Abstract:[GRAPHICS]A novel thiourea-based C-2-symmetric ligand was synthesized, and its application in the palladium-catalyzed Heck and Suzuki coupling reactions of arenediazonium salts was evaluated, The reactions, which were performed at room temperature, without added base, and under aerobic conditions, produced product in 4 h with good yield. The corresponding arenediazonium salts were easily generated in one step from anilines.

Abstract:Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative cross-couplings of 2-(2-azaaryl)acetates with aryl halides and triflates have been discovered. This reaction is potentially useful for the synthesis of some functionalized pyridines, quinolines, pyrazines, benzoxazoles, and benzothiazoles. Theoretical analysis shows that the nitrogen atom at the 2-position of the heteroaromatics directly coordinates to Pd(II) in the decarboxylation transition state.

Abstract:N-(3-Chloro-2-quinoxalinyl)-N'-arylimidazolium salts (aryl = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl [HL1Cl]Cl, aryl = mesityl [HL2Cl]Cl) have been synthesized by treating 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline with the corresponding N'-arylimidazole in neat water. Facile reactions of these imidazolium salts with Pd(PPh3)4 and Pd2(dba)3/PPh3 (dba = dibenzyledene acetone) at 50 °C have afforded zwitterionic palladium(ii) complexes [Pd(HL1)(PPh3)Cl2] (I) and [Pd(HL2)(PPh3)Cl2] (II) in excellent yields. I and II have been tested for their ability to catalyze Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling (SMC) reactions in neat water/K2CO3 and are found to be highly active for carrying out these reactions between aryl bromides and organoboron reagents. Furthermore, the scope of the catalyst I was also examined by employing (hetero)aryl bromides, hydrophilic aryl bromides, benzyl bromides and various organoboron reagents. More than 80 aryl/benzyl bromide-arylboronic acid combinations were screened in neat water/K2CO3 and it was found that I was a versatile catalyst, which produced biaryls/diarylmethanes in excellent yields. A TON of 82 000 was achieved by using I. Studies on the mechanism have also been carried out to investigate the involvement of carbene complexes in the catalytic path. Poison tests and a two-phase test were also conducted and the results are reported.

Abstract:A new series of xylyl-linked bis-benzimidazolium salts were efficiently prepared using a simple preparation method from bis-benzimidazolium precursors featuring highly tunable linkers and wingtips. A highly efficient Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of aryl chlorides within the range of 0.5–2.0 mol% Pd-catalyst loading was observed. Also, di-ortho-substituted biaryl synthesis was achieved.

Abstract:In this study, we demonstrate that phosphinoacridines are efficient bidentate ligands for palladium‐catalyzed carboxylative C‐N coupling reactions under blue LED irradiation. This method facilitates the direct synthesis of arylcarbamates using a range of non‐activated aryl halides, such as iodides and bromides, with various amines under atmospheric pressure of CO2. The optimized conditions exhibit high tolerance to sensitive functional groups, resulting in very good to excellent yields of the desired products. This approach expands the scope of palladium‐catalyzed carboxylation reactions and offers an environmentally friendly route to arylcarbamates.

Abstract:The Heck coupling of aryl iodides with pyranoid glycals using a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)(2) to form pyranoid aryl C-glycosides has been achieved. The reaction takes place smoothly in the presence of Ag2CO3 and Cu(OAc)(2) (or DMSO) in acetonitrile. This arylation process, which occurs in a highly regio- and stereo-selective manner, provides a simple, mild, and efficient approach to the synthesis of aryl 2-deoxy-C-glycopyranosides.

Abstract:A simple method for one-pot sequential Heck/Suzuki coupling reactions of a range of substituted aryl dihalides has been described. The Pd(OAc)2/imidazolium system catalyzed double coupling reactions proceed without isolation of the intermediates giving unsymmetrically polysubstituted biphenyls in good to excellent yields. Further couplings of the resultant products bearing additional C–Cl bonds with substituted arylboronic acids or amines lead to unsymmetrical terphenyls and aminobiphenyl derivatives.

Abstract:A simple palladium(II)-catalyzed intramolecular addition of vinylpalladium species to ketones initiated by the carbopalladation of alkynamides under mild conditions without a Pd(II)/Pd(0) redox system was developed.
