Abstract:We show Fujita's spectrum conjecture for $\epsilon$-log canonical pairs and Fujita's log spectrum conjecture for log canonical pairs. Then, we generalize the pseudo-effective threshold of a single divisor to multiple divisors and establish the analogous finiteness and the DCC properties.

Abstract: Let $d(n; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ be the number of factorization $n=n_1n_2$ satisfying $n_i\equiv r_i\pmod{q_i}$ ($i=1,2$) and $\Delta(x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ be the error term of the summatory function of $d(n; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ with $x\geq (q_1q_2)^{1+\varepsilon}, 1\leq r_i\leq q_i$, and $(r_i, q_i)=1$ ($i=1, 2$). We study the power moments and sign changes of $\Delta(x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$, and prove that for a sufficiently large constant $C$, $\Delta(q_1q_2x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)$ changes sign in the interval $[T,T+C\sqrt{T}]$ for any large $T$. Meanwhile, we show that for a small constant $c'$, there exist infinitely many subintervals of length $c'\sqrt{T}\log^{-7}T$ in $[T,2T]$ where $\pm \Delta(q_1q_2x; r_1, q_1, r_2, q_2)> c_5x^\frac{1}{4}$ always holds.

Abstract:Generalizing Fujita-Odaka invariant, we define a function δ ˜ on a set of generalized b-divisors over a smooth Fano variety. This allows us to provide a new characterization of uniform K-stability. A key role is played by a new Riemann-Zariski formalism for K-stability. For any generalized b-divisor D, we introduce a (uniform) D -log K-stability notion. We prove that the existence of a unique Kähler-Einstein metric with prescribed singularities implies this new K-stability notion when the prescribed singularities are given by the generalized b-divisor D. We connect the existence of a unique Kähler-Einstein metric with prescribed singularities to a uniform D -log Ding-stability notion which we introduce. We show that these conditions are satisfied exactly when δ ˜ ( D ) > 1 , extending to the D-log setting the δ-valuative criterion of Fujita-Odaka and Blum-Jonsson. Finally we prove the strong openness of the uniform D-log Ding stability as a consequence of the strong continuity of δ ˜ .

Abstract:We study log canonical thresholds (also called global log canonical threshold or alpha-invariant) of R-linear systems. We prove existence of positive lower bounds in different settings, in particular, proving a conjecture of Ambro. We then show that the Borisov-Alexeev-Borisov conjecture holds; that is, given a natural number d and a positive real number epsilon, the set of Fano varieties of dimension d with epsilon-log canonical singularities forms a bounded family. This implies that birational automorphism groups of rationally connected varieties are Jordan which, in particular, answers a question of Serre. Next we show that if the log canonical threshold of the anti-canonical system of a Fano variety is at most one, then it is computed by some divisor, answering a question of Tian in this case.
On Effective Convergence in Fekete's Lemma and Related Combinatorial Problems in Information Theory

Abstract:Fekete's lemma is a well known result from combinatorial mathematics that shows the existence of a limit value related to super- and subadditive sequences of real numbers. In this paper, we analyze Fekete's lemma in view of the arithmetical hierarchy of real numbers by Zheng and Weihrauch and fit the results into an information-theoretic context. We introduce special sets associated to super- and subadditive sequences and prove their effective equivalence to $\Sigma_1$ and $\Pi_1$. Using methods from the theory established by Zheng and Weihrauch, we then show that the limit value emerging from Fekete's lemma is, in general, not a computable number. Given a sequence that additionally satisfies non-negativity, we characterize under which conditions the associated limit value can be computed effectively and investigate the corresponding modulus of convergence. Subsidiarily, we prove a theorem concerning the structural differences between computable sequences of computable numbers and computable sequences of rational numbers. We close the paper by a discussion on how our findings affect common problems from information theory.

On Stability and Denominators of F-pure thresholds in Families of Diagonal Hypersurfaces

Abstract:Given a prime number $p$ and a positive integer $m$, we provide a family of diagonal hypersurfaces $\{ f_n \}_{n = 1}^{\infty}$ in $m$ variables, for which the denominator of $\text{ fpt } (f_{n})$ (in lowest terms) is always $p$ and whose $F$-pure thresholds stabilize after a certain $n$. We also provide another family of diagonal hypersurfaces $\{ g_n \}_{n = 1}^{\infty}$ in $m$ variables, for which the power of $p$ in the denominator of $\text{ fpt } (g_{n})$ (in lowest terms) diverges to $\infty$ as $n \to \infty$. This behavior of the denominator of the $F$-pure thresholds is dependent on the congruence class of $p$ modulo the smallest two exponents of $\{ f_n \}$ and $\{ g_n \}$.

Abstract:We compute the $F$-pure threshold of non necessarily principal ideals which satisfy a geometric generic condition about their Newton polygons. We also contribute some evidence in favor of the conjectured equality between the $F$-pure threshold and the log canonical threshold of ideals. These results are obtained by generalizing the theory of splitting polytopes to the case of ideals. As applications of our results we obtain geometric lower bounds for the recently introduced $F$-volume of a collection of ideals.

Abstract:A classical result of Fekete gives necessary conditions on a compact set in the complex plane so that it contains infinitely many sets of conjugate algebraic integers. We prove an effective version of Fekete's theorem in terms of a height function. As an application, we give a lower bound on the growth of the leading coefficient of certain polynomial sequences, generalizing a result by Schur. Lastly, we give an upper bound on minimal asymptotics of height over sequences of algebraic numbers.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize D. H. Lehmer's result to give a sufficient condition for level one cusp forms f with integral Fourier coefficients such that the smallest n for which the coefficients a_n(f)=0 must be a prime. Then we describe a method to compute a bound B of n such that a_n(f)0 for all n<B. As examples, we achieve the explicit bounds B_k for the unique cusp form Δ_k of level one and weight k with k=16, 18, 20, 22, 26 such that a_n(Δ_k)0 for all n<B_k.
Computing the F-pure Threshold of Flag Varieties

Abstract:We compute the $F$-pure threshold of the natural cone over flag varieties in characteristic $p>0$. Our calculations are mainly focused on flag varieties that are arithmetically Gorenstein, but we offer some results in the non-Gorenstein case. Our goal is to determine the $a$-invariant of the cone. As a result, the $F$-pure thresholds we find are independent of the characteristic $p$, hence one immediately gets the value of the log canonical threshold of flags in characteristic 0 as well.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that Shokurov's conjectures on the ACC for $a$-lc thresholds and the ACC for minimal log discrepancies are equivalent in the interval $[0,1)$. That is, the conjecture on ACC for $a$-lc thresholds holds for every $0\leq a<1$ if and only if the set of minimal log discrepancies for pairs with DCC coefficients do not have an accumulation point from below which belongs to $[0,1)$.

Abstract:Given a compact subset $\Sigma \subset \mathbb{R}$ (or $\mathbb{C}$) with logarithmic capacity greater than zero, we construct an explicit family of probability measures supported on $\Sigma$ such that their closure is all the possible weak limit measures of complete sets of conjugate algebraic integers lying inside $\Sigma$. We give an asymptotic formula for the number of algebraic integers with given degree and prescribed distribution. We exploit the algorithmic nature of our approach to give a family of upper bounds that converges to the smallest limiting trace-to-degree ratio of totally positive algebraic integers and improve the best previously known upper bound on the Schur-Siegel-Smyth trace problem to 1.8216.

Abstract:Abstract Using log canonical thresholds and basis divisors Fujita–Odaka introduced purely algebro-geometric invariants δm{\delta_{m}} whose limit in m is now known to characterize uniform K-stability on a Fano variety. As shown by Blum–Jonsson this carries over to a general polarization, and together with work of Berman, Boucksom, and Jonsson, it is now known that the limit of these δm{\delta_{m}}-invariants characterizes uniform Ding stability. A basic question since Fujita–Odaka’s work has been to find an analytic interpretation of these invariants. We show that each δm{\delta_{m}} is the coercivity threshold of a quantized Ding functional on the mth Bergman space and thus characterizes the existence of balanced metrics. This approach has a number of applications. The most basic one is that it provides an alternative way to compute these invariants, which is new even for ℙn{{\mathbb{P}}^{n}}. Second, it allows us to introduce algebraically defined invariants that characterize the existence of Kähler–Ricci solitons (and the more general g-solitons of Berman–Witt Nyström), as well as coupled versions thereof. Third, it leads to approximation results involving balanced metrics in the presence of automorphisms that extend some results of Donaldson.
The Fyodorov-Hiary-Keating Conjecture on Mesoscopic Intervals

Abstract:We derive precise upper bounds for the maximum of the Riemann zeta function on short intervals on the critical line, showing for any $\theta\in(-1,0]$, the set of $t\in [T,2T]$ for which $$\max_{|h|\leq \log^\theta T}|\zeta(\tfrac{1}{2}+it+ih)|>\exp\bigg({y+\sqrt{(\log\log T)|\theta|/2}\cdot {S}}\bigg)\frac{(\log T)^{(1+\theta)}}{(\log\log T)^{3/4}}$$ is bounded above by $Cy\exp({-2y-y^2/((1+\theta)\log\log T)})$ (where $S$ is a random variable that is approximately a standard Gaussian as $T$ tends to infinity). This settles a strong form of a conjecture of Fyodorov--Hiary--Keating in mesoscopic intervals which was only known in the leading order. Using similar techniques, we also derive upper bounds for the second moment of the zeta function on such intervals. Conditioning on the value of $S$, we show that for all $t\in[T,2T]$ outside a set of order $o(T)$, $$\frac{1}{\log^\theta T}\int_{|h|\in \log^\theta T} |\zeta(\tfrac{1}{2}+it+ih)|^2\mathrm{d}h \ll e^{2S}\cdot \left(\frac{(\log T)^{(1+\theta)}}{\sqrt{\log\log T}}\right).$$ This proves a weak form of another conjecture of Fyodorov-Keating and generalizes a result of Harper, which is recovered at $\theta = 0$ (in which case $S$ is defined to be zero). Our main tool is an adaptation of the recursive scheme introduced by one of the authors, Bourgade and Radziwiłł to mesoscopic intervals.
