Abstract:We consider the problem of determining Weierstrass gaps and pure Weierstrass gaps at several points. Using the notion of relative maximality in generalized Weierstrass semigroups due to Delgado (Proc Am Math Soc 108(3):627–631, 1990), we present a description of these elements which generalizes the approach of Homma and Kim (J Pure Appl Algebra 162(2–3):273–290, 2001) given for pairs. Through this description, we study the gaps and pure gaps at several points on a certain family of curves with separated variables.

Abstract:In this paper, we study configurations of three rational points on the Hermitian curve over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$ and classify them according to their Weierstrass semigroups. For $q>3$, we show that the number of distinct semigroups of this form is equal to the number of positive divisors of $q+1$ and give an explicit description of the Weierstrass semigroup for each triple of points studied. To do so, we make use of two-point discrepancies and derive a criterion which applies to arbitrary curves over a finite field.

Abstract:We determine the Weierstrass semigroup at one and two totally ramified places in a Kummer extension defined by the affine equation $y^{m}=\prod_{i=1}^{r} (x-\alpha_i)^{\lambda_i}$ over $K$, the algebraic closure of $\mathbb{F}_q$, where $\alpha_1, \dots, \alpha_r\in K$ are pairwise distinct elements, and $\gcd(m, \sum_{i=1}^{r}\lambda_i)=1$. For an arbitrary function field, from the knowledge of the minimal generating set of the Weierstrass semigroup at two rational places, the set of pure gaps is characterized. We apply these results to construct algebraic geometry codes over certain function fields with many rational places.

Abstract:We generalize the result of Reid (J Lond Math Soc 13:454–458, 1976), namely, we prove that a curve of genus having a double cover of a hyperelliptic curve of genus does not lie as a non-singular curve on any K3 surface. Applying this result we construct non-K3 Weierstrass numerical semigroups. A numerical semigroup H is said to be Weierstrass if there exists a pointed non-singular curve ( C , P ) such that H consists of non-negative integers which are the pole orders at P of a rational function on C having a pole only at P . We call the numerical semigroup K3 if we can take the curve C as a curve on some K3 surface. A non-K3 numerical semigroup means that it cannot be attained by a pointed non-singular curve on any K3 surface. We also give infinite sequences of non-K3 Weierstrass numerical semigroups.

Abstract:We formulate an Iwasawa main conjecture for a higher rank Euler system for a general motive. We prove "one half" of the main conjecture under mild hypotheses. We also formulate a conjecture on "Darmon-type derivatives" of Euler systems and give an application to the Tamagawa number conjecture. Lastly, we specialize our general framework to the setting of Heegner points and give a natural interpretation of the Heegner point main conjecture in terms of rank two Euler systems.

Abstract:This paper introduces explicit Galois cohomological methods for determining the ranks of Bloch--Kato Selmer groups associated to the Tate twists of the 2-adic second étale cohomology of the Jacobian of a hyperelliptic curve with a rational Weierstrass point. In particular, this can give a method to determine the rational points on such curves via the Chabauty--Coleman--Kim method. This is applied to answer a question of Bugeaud, Mignotte, Siksek, Stoll and Tengely.

Abstract:We prove an anticyclotomic Iwasawa main conjecture proposed by Perrin-Riou for Heegner points for semi-stable elliptic curves E over a quadratic imaginary field K satisfying a certain generalized Heegner hypothesis, at an ordinary prime p. It states that the square of the index of the anticyclotomic family of Heegner points in E equals the characteristic ideal of the torsion part of its Bloch-Kato Selmer group (see Theorem 1.3 for precise statement). As a byproduct we also prove the equality in the Greenberg-Iwasawa main conjecture for certain Rankin-Selberg product (Theorem 1.7) under some local conditions, and an improvement of Skinner's result on a converse of Gross-Zagier and Kolyvagin theorem (Corollary 1.11).
Congruences of Galois representations attached to effective $A$-motives over global function fields

Abstract:This article investigates congruences of $\mathfrak{p}$-adic representations arising from effective $A$-motives defined over a global function field $K$. We give a criterion for two congruent $\mathfrak{p}$-adic representations coming from strongly semi-stable effective $A$-motives to be isomorphic up to semi-simplification when restricted to decomposition groups of suitable places of $K$. This is a function field analog of Ozeki-Taguchi's criterion for $\ell$-adic representations of number fields. Motivated by a non-existence conjecture on abelian varieties over number fields stated by Rasmussen and Tamagawa, we also show that there exist no strongly semi-stable effective $A$-motives with some constrained.

Abstract:The Galois/monodromy group of a family of geometric problems or equations is a subtle invariant that encodes the structure of the solutions. We give numerical methods to compute the Galois group and study it when it is not the full symmetric group. One algorithm computes generators, while the other studies its structure as a permutation group. We illustrate these algorithms with examples using a Macaulay2 package we are developing that relies upon Bertini to perform monodromy computations.

Abstract:Let K = Q(root-q), where q is any prime number congruent to 7 modulo 8, and let O be the ring of integers of K. The prime 2 splits in K, say 2O = pp*, and there is a unique Z(2)-extension K-infinity of K which is unramified outside p. Let H be the Hilbert class field of K, and write H-infinity = HK infinity. Let M(H-infinity) be the maximal abelian 2-extension of H-infinity which is unramified outside the primes above p, and put X(H-infinity) = Gal(M(H-infinity)/H-infinity). We prove that X(H-infinity) is always a finitely generated Z(2)-module, by an elliptic analogue of Sinnott's cyclotomic argument. We then use this result to prove for the first time the weak p-adic Leopoldt conjecture for the compositum J(infinity) of K-infinity with arbitrary quadratic extensions J of H. We also prove some new cases of the finite generation of the Mordell-Weil group E(J(infinity)) modulo torsion of certain elliptic curves E with complex multiplication by O.

Abstract:Let p be an odd prime. Let F be a non-archimedean local field of residue characteristic p , and let be its residue field. Let be the pro- p -Iwahori-Hecke algebra of the p -adic group with coefficients in , and let be its center. We define a scheme whose geometric points parametrize the semisimple two-dimensional Galois representations of over . Then we construct a morphism from to generalizing the morphism appearing in [15] for . In the case , we show that the induced map from Hecke modules to Galois representations, when restricted to supersingular modules, coincides with Grosse-Klönne's bijection [8]. For this, we determine the Lubin–Tate -modules associated to absolutely irreducible Galois representations.

Abstract:For an additive polynomial and a positive integer, we define an irreducible smooth representation of a Weil group of a non-archimedean local field. We study several invariants of this representation. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for it to be primitive.

Abstract:For physicists: For supersymmetric quantum mechanics, there are cases when a mod-2 Witten index can be defined, even when a more ordinary $\mathbb{Z}$-valued Witten index vanishes. Similarly, for 2d supersymmetric quantum field theories, there are cases when a mod-2 elliptic genus can be defined, even when a more ordinary elliptic genus vanishes. We study such mod-2 elliptic genera in the context of $\mathcal{N}=(0,1)$ supersymmetry, and show that they are characterized by mod-2 reductions of integral modular forms, under some assumptions. For mathematicians: We study the image of the standard homomorphism $\pi_n \mathrm{TMF}\to \pi_n \mathrm{KO}((q))\simeq \mathbb{Z}/2((q))$ for $n=8k+1$ or $8k+2$, by relating them to the mod-2 reductions of integral modular forms.

Abstract:Yoshihara's definition of Galois points for irreducible plane curves is extended to reducible plane curves. We also define simultaneous Galois points, weakening the conditions of the definition. We studied the number of simultaneous Galois points for a reduced plane curve with nonsingular components.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a variety over a finite field. Given an order $R$ in a semi-simple algebra over the rationals and a constructible étale sheaf $F$ of $R$-modules over $X$, one can consider a natural non-commutative $L$-function associated with $F$. We prove a special value formula at negative integers for this $L$-function, expressed in terms of Weil-étale cohomology; this is a geometric analogue of, and implies, the equivariant Tamagawa number conjecture for an Artin motive and its negative twists over a global function field. It also generalizes the results of Lichtenbaum and Geisser on special values at negative integers for zeta functions of varieties, and the work of Burns--Kakde in the case of non-commutative L-functions coming from a Galois cover of varieties.

Abstract:Gauss and Dedekind have shown a bijection between the set of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$-equivalence classes of primitive positive definite binary quadratic $\mathbb{Z}$-forms of the discriminant of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{\Delta<0})$ and the class group of its ring of integers. Using étale cohomology we show an analogue of this correspondence in the positive characteristic. This leads to the description of the set of genera and to another result analogous to Gauss' one by which any form composed with itself belongs to the principal genus.

We extend Nari's theorem for almost symmetric numerical semigroups to simplicial semigroups with higher rank.
