Abstract:We study the classification problem of singularities of function-germs with harmonic leading terms of two variables under the right-equivalence. We observe that the multiple actions of Laplacian appear for the classifications of such class of function-germs.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of various harmonic maps from Hermitian manifolds to Kaehler, Hermitian and Riemannian manifolds respectively. By using refined Bochner formulas on Hermitian (possibly non-Kaehler) manifolds, we derive new rigidity results on Hermitian harmonic maps from compact Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds, and we also obtain the complex analyticity of pluri-harmonic maps from compact complex manifolds to compact Kaehler manifolds (and Riemannian manifolds) with non-degenerate curvatures, which are analogous to several fundamental results in [28,Siu], [14,Jost-Yau] and [26, Sampson].

Abstract:In the context of holomorphic forms on tube domains, singular automorphic forms were studied by Maass [Maa], Freitag [Fre], and Resnikoff [Res], among others. A holomorphic form is singular if it is annihilated by certain differential operator(s). It is known that this is the case if and only if all its “nondegenerate” Fourier coefficients vanish, and if and only if it has one of the “singular weights”. The equivalence of these properties are far from trivial, and they constitute some of the basic results in the theory.

Abstract:It is known that the bi-Lipschitz right classification of function germs admit moduli. In this article we introduce a notion called the Lipschitz simple function germs and present a full classification in the complex case. A surprising consequence of our result is that a function germ is Lipschitz modal if and only if it deforms to the smooth unimodal family of singularities called $J_{10}$ in Arnold's list.

Abstract:The singularity space consists of all germs $(X,x)$, with $X$ a Noetherian scheme and $x$ a point, where we identify two such germs if they become the same after an analytic extension of scalars. This is a Polish space for the metric given by the order to which infinitesimal neighborhoods, or jets, agree after base change. In other words, the classification of singularities up to analytic extensions of scalars is a smooth problem in the sense of descriptive set-theory. Over $\mathbb C$, the following two classification problems up to isomorphism are now smooth: (i) analytic germs; and (ii) polarized schemes.

Abstract:This paper contributes to the theory of singularities of meromorphic linear ODEs in traceless $2\times2$ cases, focusing on their deformations and confluences. It is divided into two parts: The first part addresses individual singularities without imposing restrictions on their type or degeneracy. The main result establishes a correspondence between local formal invariants and jets of meromorphic quadratic differentials. This result is then utilized to describe the parameter space of universal isomonodromic deformation of meromorphic $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C})$-connections over Riemann surfaces. The second part examines the confluence of singularities in a fully general setting, accommodating all forms of degeneracies. It explores the relationship between the geometry of the unfolded Stokes phenomenon and the horizontal and vertical foliations of parametric families of quadratic differentials. The local moduli space is naturally identified with a specific space of local monodromy and Stokes data, presented as a space of representations of certain fundamental groupoids associated with the foliations. This is then used for studying degenerations of isomonodromic deformations in parametric families.

Abstract:We use arithmetic and Hodge-theoretic techniques to study pencils of Calabi-Yau varieties realized as highly symmetric hypersurfaces in Grassmannians and their quotients, demonstrating that their geometric properties are distinct from the classical mirrors of Calabi-Yau Grassmannian hypersurfaces.

Abstract:The main purpose of this article is to lay the foundations for a classification of isolated hypersurface singularities in positive characteristic. Although our article is in the spirit of Arnol'd who classified real an complex hypersurfaces in the 1970's with respect to right equivalence, several new phenomena occur in positive characteristic. Already the notion of isolated singularity is different for right resp. contact equivalence over fields of characteristic other than zero. The heart of this paper consists of the study of different notions of non-degeneracy and the associated piecewise filtrations induced by the Newton diagram of a power series f. We introduce the conditions AC and AAC which modify and generalise the conditions A and AA of Arnol'd resp. Wall and which allow the classification with respect to contact equivalence in any characteristic. Using this we deduce normal forms and rather sharp determinacy bounds for f with respect to right and contact equivalence. We apply this to classify hypersurface singularities of low modality in positive characteristic.

Harmonic $1$-forms on real loci of Calabi-Yau manifolds

Abstract:We numerically study whether there exist nowhere vanishing harmonic $1$-forms on the real locus of some carefully constructed examples of Calabi-Yau manifolds, which would then give rise to potentially new examples of $G_2$-manifolds and an explicit description of their metrics. We do this in two steps: first, we use a neural network to compute an approximate Calabi-Yau metric on each manifold. Second, we use another neural network to compute an approximately harmonic $1$-form with respect to the approximate metric, and then inspect the found solution. On two manifolds existence of a nowhere vanishing harmonic $1$-form can be ruled out using differential geometry. The real locus of a third manifold is diffeomorphic to $S^1 \times S^2$, and our numerics suggest that when the Calabi-Yau metric is close to a singular limit, then it admits a nowhere vanishing harmonic $1$-form. We explain how such an approximate solution could potentially be used in a numerically verified proof for the fact that our example manifold must admit a nowhere vanishing harmonic $1$-form.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the Dirichlet problem at infinity of proper harmonic maps from noncompact complex hyperbolic space $\mathbf{CH^m}$ to a rank one symmetric space N of noncompact type with singular boundary data $f: \mathbf{S^{2m-1}}\longrightarrow \partial_\infty N$. Under some conditions on f, we show that the Dirichlet problem at infinity admits a harmonic map which assumes the boundary data f continuously.

Abstract:Definition 0. Let V be a Stein analytic space with x as its only singular point. Let 7r: M -V be a resolution of the singularity of V. We shall denote dim H1(M, 9), 1 < i < n 1 by h(i), and dim Hq(M, UP) for 1 ? p < n, 1 < q < n by hP,q(M). So far as the classification problem is concerned, h (n-i) is one of the most important invariants. In this paper, we shall introduce a bunch of invariants (cf. Definition 2.6, Definition 4.1, and Definition 5.1) which are naturally attached to isolated singularities. These invariants are used to characterize the different notions of sheaves of germs of holomorphic differential forms on analytic spaces. Various formulae which relate all these invariants are proved. We also show how to calculate these invariants explicitly. Our paper is organized as follows. In section 2 we discuss the relationship between three different kinds of sheaves of germs of holomorphic forms introduced by Grauert-Grothendieck, Noether and Ferrari respectively, and the dualizing sheaf on a complex analytic space which admits only isolated singularities. We remark that the torsion sheaf of the sheaf of germs of holomorphic p-forms in the sense of Grauert-Grothendieck was studied by Brieskorn [9], Greuel [48], Kantor [19], Suzuki [38], Vetter [39] and the author [43]. Abstract:In this paper we study germs of holomorphic foliations, at the origin of the complex plane, tangent to Pfaffian hypersurfaces - integral hypersurfaces of real analytic 1-forms - satisfying the Rolle-Khovanskii condition. This hypothesis leads us to conclude that such a foliation is defined by a closed meromorphic 1-form, also allowing the classification of the simple models in its reduction of singularities.

Abstract:Let X be a reduced complex-analytic germ of pure dimension n\ge2, with arbitrary singularities (not necessarily normal or complete intersection). Various homology cycles on Link_\ep[X] vanish at different speeds when \ep\to0. We give a condition ensuring fast vanishing loops on X. The condition is in terms of the discriminant and the covering data for "convenient" coverings X\to (C^n,o). No resolution of singularities is involved.

Abstract:Abstract In this article we show that for every finite area hyperbolic surface X of type ( g , n ) {(g,n)} and any harmonic Beltrami differential μ on X, then the magnitude of μ at any point of small injectivity radius is uniform bounded from above by the ratio of the Weil–Petersson norm of μ over the square root of the systole of X up to a uniform positive constant multiplication. We apply the uniform bound above to show that the Weil–Petersson Ricci curvature, restricted at any hyperbolic surface of short systole in the moduli space, is uniformly bounded from below by the negative reciprocal of the systole up to a uniform positive constant multiplication. As an application, we show that the average total Weil–Petersson scalar curvature over the moduli space is uniformly comparable to - g {-g} as the genus g goes to infinity.

Abstract:In this article we prove that every germ of analytic meromorphic function at $(\mathbb{C}^{2},0)$ is equivalent, under the right composition by a germ of biholomorphism, to a germ of algebraic meromorphic function. An analogous result is also true for real analytic meromorphic functions.

Abstract:We study harmonic functions on general weighted graphs which allow for a compatible intrinsic metric. We prove an L^p Liouville type theorem which is a quantitative integral L^p estimate of harmonic functions analogous to Karp's theorem for Riemannian manifolds. As corollaries we obtain Yau's L^p-Liouville type theorem on graphs, identify the domain of the generator of the semigroup on L^p and get a criterion for recurrence. As a side product, we show an analogue of Yau's L^p Caccioppoli inequality. Furthermore, we derive various Liouville type results for harmonic functions on graphs and harmonic maps from graphs into Hadamard spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the analytic classification of a class of nilpotent singularities of holomorphic foliations in $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$, those exhibiting a Poincaré-Dulac type singularity in their reduction process. This analytic classification is based in the holonomy of a certain component of the exceptional divisor. Finally, as a consequence, we show that these singularities exhibit a formal analytic rigidity.

Abstract:We study the differences of two consecutive eigenvalues lambda i - lambda i - 1 , i up to 2 g - 2, for the Laplacian on hyperbolic surfaces of genus g , and show that the supremum of such spectral gaps over the moduli space has infimum limit at least 4 1 as the genus goes to infinity. A min-max principle for eigenvalues on degenerating hyperbolic surfaces is also established.

Abstract:Unique harmonic maps between surfaces give a parametrization of the Teichmüller space by holomorphic quadratic differentials on a Riemann surface. In this paper, we investigate the degeneration of hyperbolic surfaces corresponding to a ray of meromorphic quadratic differentials on a punctured Riemann surface in this parametrization, where the meromorphic quadratic differentials have a pole of order $\geq 2$ at each puncture. We show that the rescaled distance functions of the universal covers of hyperbolic surfaces uniformly converge, on a certain non-compact region containing a fundamental domain, to the intersection number with the vertical measured foliation given by the meromorphic quadratic differential determining the direction of the ray. This implies the family of hyperbolic surfaces converges to the dual $\mathbb{R}$-tree to the vertical measured foliation in the sense of Gromov-Hausdorff. As an application, we describe the limit in the function space on the set of isotopy classes of properly embedded arcs and simple closed curves on the surface.
