Abstract:In this paper, we explore the limit structure of a sequence of Riemannian manifolds with Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature bounded below in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology. By extending the techniques established by Cheeger-Cloding for Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded below, we prove that each tangent space at a point of the limit space is a metric cone. We also analyze the singular structure of the limit space analogous to a work of Cheeger-Colding-Tian. Our results will be applied to study the limit space of a sequence of Kähler metrics arising from solutions of certain complex Monge-Ampère equations for the existence of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a Fano manifold via the continuity method.

Abstract: This is the second of a series of three papers which provide proofs of results announced in arXiv:1210.7494. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle is less than 2\pi. We show that these are in a natrual way projective algebraic varieties. In the case when the limiting variety and the limiting divisor are smooth we show that the limiting metric also has standard cone singularities.

Abstract:This is the third and final article in a series which prove the fact that a K-stable Fano manifold admits a Kähler-Einstein metric. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle approaches 2 π \pi . We also put all our technical results together to complete the proof of the main theorem.

Abstract:Given a polarized Kähler manifold (X,L). The space ℋ of Kähler metrics in $$ 2_\Pi {c_1}{(L)}$$ is an infinite-dimensional Riemannian symmetric space. As a metric space, it has non-positive curvature. There is associated to ℋ a sequence of finite-dimensional symmetric spaces $$ \mathcal{B}_{k}{({k}\, \epsilon \,\mathbb{N})} $$ of non-compact Type. We prove that ℋ is the limit of $$ \mathcal{B}_{k} $$ as metric spaces in certain sense. As applications, this provides more geometric proofs of certain known geometric properties of the space ℋ.

Abstract:We study Kähler-Einstein metrics on singular projective varieties. We show that under an approximation property with constant scalar curvature metrics, the metric completion of the smooth part is a non-collapsed RCD space, and is homeomorphic to the original variety.

Abstract:Given any compact homogeneous space $H/K$ with $H$ simple, we consider the new space $M=H\times H/\Delta K$, where $\Delta K$ denotes diagonal embedding, and study the existence, classification and stability of $H\times H$-invariant Einstein metrics on $M$, as a first step into the largely unexplored case of homogeneous spaces of compact non-simple Lie groups. We find unstable Einstein metrics on $M$ for most spaces $H/K$ such that their standard metric is Einstein (e.g., isotropy irreducible) and the Killing form of $\mathfrak{k}$ is a multiple of the Killing form of $\mathfrak{h}$ (e.g., $K$ simple), a class which contains $17$ families and $50$ individual examples. A complete classification is obtained in the case when $H/K$ is an irreducible symmetric space with $K$ simple. We also study the behavior of the scalar curvature function on the space of all normal metrics on $M=H\times H/\Delta K$ (none of which is Einstein), obtaining that the standard metric is a global minimum.

Kähler geometry of scalar flat metrics on Line bundles over polarized Kähler-Einstein manifolds

Abstract:In view of a better understanding of the geometry of scalar flat Kähler metrics, this paper studies two families of scalar flat Kähler metrics constructed in [10] by A. D. Hwang and M. A. Singer on $\mathbb C^{n+1}$ and on $\mathcal O(-k)$. For the metrics in both the families, we prove the existence of an asymptotic expansion for their $\epsilon$-functions and we show that they can be approximated by a sequence of projectively induced Kähler metrics. Further, we show that the metrics on $\mathbb C^{n+1}$ are not projectively induced, and that the Burns-Simanca metric is characterized among the scalar flat metrics on $\mathcal O(-k)$ to be the only projectively induced one as well as the only one whose second coefficient in the asymptotic expansion of the $\epsilon$-function vanishes.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the “interpolation–degeneration” strategy to study Kähler–Einstein metrics on a smooth Fano manifold with cone singularities along a smooth divisor that is proportional to the anti-canonical divisor. By “interpolation” we show the angles in (0, 2π] that admit a conical Kähler–Einstein metric form a connected interval, and by “degeneration” we determine the boundary of the interval in some important cases. As a first application, we show that there exists a Kähler–Einstein metric on ${\mathbb{P}^2}$ with cone singularity along a smooth conic (degree 2) curve if and only if the angle is in (π/2, 2π]. When the angle is 2π/3 this proves the existence of a Sasaki–Einstein metric on the link of a three dimensional A 2 singularity, and thus answers a question posed by Gauntlett–Martelli–Sparks–Yau. As a second application we prove a version of Donaldson’s conjecture about conical Kähler–Einstein metrics in the toric case using Song–Wang’s recent existence result of toric invariant conical Kähler–Einstein metrics.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a compact Kähler manifold and $D$ be a simple normal crossing divisor on $X$ such that $K_X+D$ is big and nef. We first prove that the singular Kähler--Einstein metric constructed by Berman--Guenancia is almost-complete on $X \backslash D$ in the sense of Tian--Yau. In our second main result, we establish the weak convergence of conic Kähler--Einstein metrics of negative curvature to the above-mentioned metric when $K_X+D$ is merely big, answering partly a recent question posed by Biquard--Guenancia. Potentials of low energy play an important role in our approach.

Abstract:Drawing on results of Derdziński's from the 80's, we classify conformally Kähler, $U(2)$-invariant, Einstein metrics on the total space of $\mathcal{O}(-m)$, for all $m \in \mathbb{N}$. This yields infinitely many $1$-parameter families of metrics exhibiting several different behaviours including asymptotically hyperbolic metrics (more specifically of Poincaré type), ALF metrics, and metrics which compactify to a Hirzebruch surface $\mathbb{H}_m$ with a cone singularity along the "divisor at infinity". This allows us to investigate transitions between behaviours yielding interesting results. For instance, we show that a Ricci--flat ALF metric known as the Taub-bolt metric can be obtained as the limit of a family of cone angle Einstein metrics on $\mathbb{CP}^2 \# \overline{\mathbb{CP}}^2$ when the cone angle converges to zero.

Abstract:We establish a one-to-one correspondence between Kähler metrics in a given conformal class and parallel sections of a certain vector bundle with conformally invariant connection, where the parallel sections satisfy a set of non--linear algebraic constraints that we describe. The vector bundle captures 2-form prolongations and is isomorphic to $\Lambda^3(\cT)$, where ${\cT}$ is the tractor bundle of conformal geometry, but the resulting connection differs from the normal tractor connection by curvature terms. Our analysis leads to a set of obstructions for a Riemannian metric to be conformal to a Kähler metric. In particular we find an explicit algebraic condition for a Weyl tensor which must hold if there exists a conformal Killing-Yano tensor, which is a necessary condition for a metric to be conformal to Kähler. This gives an invariant characterisation of algebraically special Riemannian metrics of type $D$ in dimensions higher than four.

Abstract:We consider families of conical Kähler–Einstein metrics on rank one horosymmetric Fano manifolds, with decreasing cone angles along a codimension one orbit. At the limit angle, which is positive, we show that the metrics, restricted to the complement of that orbit, converge to (the pull‐back of) the Kähler–Einstein metric on the basis of the horosymmetric homogeneous space, which is a projective homogeneous space. Then we show that, on the symmetric space fibers, the rescaled metrics converge to Stenzel's Ricci flat Kähler metric.

Abstract:We establish the unique complete Kahler-Einstein metric with negative scalar curvature on a broad class of complete Kahler manifolds, including those manifolds whose covering space can be biholomorphically embedded into a Kahler manifold with holomorphic sectional curvature bounded above by a negative constant. We further present several new examples of complete noncompact Kahler-Einstein manifolds, generated by the results.
