Abstract:Let $F$ be a non Archimedean local field, and $G$ be the $F$-points of a connected quasi-split reductive group defined over $F$. In this note we propose a converse theorem statement for generic Langlands parameters of $G$ when the Langlands dual group of $G$ is acceptable. We then prove it when $G$ is $F$-split. Then we consider a variant which we prove for $G=\mathrm{G}_2(F)$ and all quasi-split classical groups. When $F$ has characteristic zero and assuming the validity of the Gross-Prasad and Rallis conjecture, this latter variant translates via the generic local Langlands correspondence of Jantzen and Liu, into the usual local converse theorems for classical groups expressed in terms of Shahidi's gamma factors.

Abstract:Classical modular forms on the upper half plane, with respect to the modular group SL(2,Z) and its congruence subgroups, have arisen naturally in number theory, complex analysis, topology, mathematical physics, and many other subjects. The closely related automorphic representations are basic notions in the celebrated Langlands program, which was proposed by Langlands in the late 1960s and has since revolutionized the fields of number theory, arithmetic algebraic geometry, and representation theory. Abstract:The Langlands Program relates Galois representations and automorphic representations of reductive algebraic groups. The trace formula is a powerful tool in the study of this connection and the Langlands Functoriality Conjecture. After giving an introduction to the Langlands Program and its geometric version, which applies to curves over finite fields and over the complex field, I give a survey of my recent joint work with Robert Langlands and Ngo Bao Chau (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1003.4578" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1003.4578">arXiv:1003.4578</a> and <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1004.5323" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1004.5323">arXiv:1004.5323</a>) on a new approach to proving the Functoriality Conjecture using the trace formulas, and on the geometrization of the trace formulas. In particular, I discuss the connection of the latter to the categorification of the Langlands correspondence.

Local Langlands in families: The banal case

Abstract:We state a conjecture, local Langlands in families, connecting the centre of the category of smooth representations on $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{q}^{-1}]$-modules of a quasi-split $p$-adic group $\mathrm{G}$ (where $q$ is the cardinality of the residue field of the underlying local field), the ring of global functions on the stack of Langlands parameters for $\mathrm{G}$ over $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{q}^{-1}]$, and the endomorphisms of a Gelfand-Graev representation for $\mathrm{G}$. For a class of classical $p$-adic groups (symplectic, unitary, or split odd special orthogonal groups), we prove this conjecture after inverting an integer depending only on $\mathrm{G}$. Along the way, we show that the local Langlands correspondence for classical $p$-adic groups (1) preserves integrality of $\ell$-adic representations; (2) satisfies an "extended" (generic) packet conjecture; (3) is compatible with parabolic induction up to semisimplification (generalizing a result of Moussaoui), hence induces a semisimple local Langlands correspondence; and (4) the semisimple correspondence is compatible with automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}$ fixing $\sqrt{q}$.

Abstract:We formulate some refinements and complements to the categorical local Langlands conjecture of Fargues-Scholze. In particular, we state the expected compatibilities with Eisenstein series and duality, and explain some of their consequences. We also begin the process of matching t-structures on both sides. Notably, we introduce the so-called hadal t-structure on the automorphic side, which has good finiteness properties, and which conjecturally matches with a suitable perverse coherent t-structure on the spectral side.

Abstract:The near-completion of the program of endoscopy poses the question of what lies next. This article takes a broad view of ideas beyond the program of endoscopy, highlighting the connections among them, and emphasizing the relationship between local and global aspects. Central among those ideas is the one proposed in a 2000 lecture of R. P. Langlands, aiming to extract from the stable trace formula of a group G the bulk of those automorphic representations in the image of the conjectural functorial lift corresponding to a morphism of L-groups ${^LH} \to {^LG}$. With the extension of the problem of functoriality to the "relative" setting of spherical varieties and related spaces, some structure behind such comparisons has started to reveal itself. In a seemingly unrelated direction, a program initiated by Braverman--Kazhdan, also around 2000, to generalize the Godement--Jacquet proof of the functional equation to arbitrary L-functions, has received renewed attention in recent years. We survey ideas and developments in this direction, as well, and discuss the relationship between the two programs.

Abstract:We develop a theory of Smith-Treumann localization and relative parity sheaves in the context of Fargues-Scholze's Geometrization of the Local Langlands Correspondence. We then apply this theory to prove some conjectures of Treumann-Venkatesh concerning mod-$\ell$ Local Langlands functoriality between a reductive group $G$ and its fixed subgroup under an order $\ell$ automorphism. As another application, we calculate the Fargues-Scholze parameters of mod-$\ell$ Howe-unramified toral representations.

Abstract:This is an informal note that explains that the classical Langlands theory over function fields can be obtained from the geometric one by taking the trace of Frobenius. The operation of taking the trace of Frobenius takes place at the categorical level, and this we deduce that the space of automorphic functions is the trace of the Frobenius on the category of automorphic sheaves.

Principal results centered on the diamond formalism in the global Langlands correspondence and the geometrization of the local Langlands correspondence are given. Abstract:We extend the local Langlands conjectures to a certain class of disconnected groups, allowing non-abelian component groups, and recast in this language some aspects of twisted endoscopy. We further introduce normalized twisted transfer factors and a normalized correspondence between an $L$-packet for a disconnected group and the set of representations of the centralizer groups of its Langlands parameter.

Abstract:We prove a descent criterion for certain families of smooth representations of GL_n(F) (F a p-adic field) in terms of the gamma factors of pairs constructed in previous work of the second author. We then use this descent criterion, together with a theory of gamma factors for families of representations of the Weil group W_F (developed previously by both authors), to prove a series of conjectures, due to the first author, that give a complete description of the integral Bernstein center in terms of Galois theory and the local Langlands correspondence. An immediate consequence is the conjectural "local Langlands correspondence in families" of Emerton and Helm.

Then we specialize to the archimedean cases (F=C and F=R) and give a (mostly conjectural) description of the spectrum of the Hecke operators in various cases in terms of opers satisfying suitable reality conditions, as predicted in part in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2103.01509" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2103.01509">arXiv:2103.01509</a>, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2106.05243" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.05243">arXiv:2106.05243</a> and <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2107.01732" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2107.01732">arXiv:2107.01732</a>. We also describe an analogue of the Langlands functoriality principle in the analytic Langlands correspondence over C and show that it is compatible with the results and conjectures of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2103.01509" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2103.01509">arXiv:2103.01509</a>. Finally, we apply the tools of the analytic Langlands correspondence over archimedean fields in genus zero to the Gaudin model and its generalizations, as well as their q-deformations.
