Abstract:We prove that there exists an interval of time which is uniform in the vanishing viscosity limit and for which the Navier–Stokes equation with the Navier boundary condition has a strong solution. This solution is uniformly bounded in a conormal Sobolev space and has only one normal derivative bounded in L∞. This allows us to obtain the vanishing viscosity limit to the incompressible Euler system from a strong compactness argument.

Abstract:Smooth solutions to the axially symmetric Navier-Stokes equations obey the following maximum principle: parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, t)parallel to(L infinity) <= parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, 0)parallel to(L infinity). We first prove the global regularity of solutions if parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, 0)parallel to(L infinity) or parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, t)parallel to(L infinity(r <= r0)) is small compared with certain dimensionless quantity of the initial data. This result improves the one in Zhen Lei and Qi S. Zhang [10]. As a corollary, we also prove the global regularity under the assumption that} vertical bar ru(theta)(r,z,t)vertical bar <= vertical bar ln r vertical bar(-3/2), for all 0 < r <= delta(0) is an element of (0,1/2). Abstract:We consider the Navier-Stokes equation in a domain with irregular boundaries. The irregularity is modeled by a spatially homogeneous random process, with typical size $\eps \ll 1$. In a parent paper, we derived a homogenized boundary condition of Navier type as $\eps \to 0$. We show here that for a large class of boundaries, this Navier condition provides a $O(\eps^{3/2} |\ln \eps|^{1/2})$ approximation in $L^2$, instead of $O(\eps^{3/2})$ for periodic irregularities. Our result relies on the study of an auxiliary boundary layer system. Decay properties of this boundary layer are deduced from a central limit theorem for dependent variables.

Abstract:Several regularity criterions of Leray-Hopf weak solutions $u$ to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. The results show that a weak solution $u$ becomes regular if the gradient of velocity component $\nabla_{h}{u}$ (or $ \nabla{u_3}$) satisfies the additional conditions in the class of $L^{q}(0,T; \dot{B}_{p,r}^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))$, where $\nabla_{h}=(\partial_{x_{1}},\partial_{x_{2}})$ is the horizontal gradient operator. Besides, we also consider the anisotropic regularity criterion for the weak solution of Navier-Stokes equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Finally, we also get a further regularity criterion, when give the sufficient condition on $\partial_3u_3$.
Partial boundary regularity for the Navier-Stokes equations in time-dependent domains

Abstract:We consider the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a moving domain whose boundary is prescribed by a function $\eta=\eta(t,y)$ (with $y\in\mathbb R^2$) of low regularity. This is motivated by problems from fluid-structure interaction. We prove partial boundary regularity for boundary suitable weak solutions assuming that $\eta$ is continuous in time with values in the fractional Sobolev space $W^{2-1/p,p}_y$ for some $p>15/4$ and we have $\partial_t\eta\in L_t^{3}(W^{1,q_0}_y)$ for some $q_0>2$. The existence of boundary suitable weak solutions is a consequence of a new maximal regularity result for the Stokes equations in moving domains which is of independent interest.

Optimal Regularity for the Stokes Equations on a 2D Wedge Domain Subject to Navier Boundary Conditions

Abstract:We consider the Stokes equations subject to Navier boundary conditions on a two-dimensional wedge domain with opening angle $\theta_0 \in (0,\,\pi)$. We prove existence and uniqueness of solutions with optimal regularity in an $L^p$-setting. The results are based on optimal regularity results for the Stokes equations subject to perfect slip boundary conditions on a two-dimensional wedge domain that have been obtained by the authors in [15]. Based on a detailed study of the corresponding trace operator on anisotropic Sobolev-Slobodeckij type function spaces on a two-dimensional wedge domain we are able to generalize the results proved in [15] to the case of inhomogeneous boundary conditions. Existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Stokes equations subject to (inhomogeneous) Navier boundary conditions are then obtained using a perturbation argument.

Abstract:We provide a new -condition for the vorticity of a suitable weak solution to the Navier–Stokes equations that leads to partial regularity. This refines the well known limsup condition of the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg Theorem by a new condition on the vorticity, replacing limsup by a suitable range of the radius r of the parabolic cylinders. As a consequence, the partial regularity is obtained directly from this -condition of the vorticity without relying on the -condition of the velocity. Furthermore, by the local nature of the method this result holds for any local suitable weak solution of the Navier–Stokes equations in a general domain.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we aim to establish global existence of weak solutions with higher regularity to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations under no-slip boundary conditions. Though Lions\cite{L1} and Feireisl\cite{F1} have established global weak solutions with finite energy under Dirichelet boundary conditions by making use of so called effective viscous flux and oscillation defect measure,Hoff has investigated global weak solutions with higher regularity in \cite{H1,Hof2} when the domain is either whole space or half space with Navier-slip boundary conditions, yet the existence theory of global weak solution with higher regularity under Dirichlet boundary conditions remains unknown. In this paper we prove that the system will admit at least one global weak solutions with higher regularity as long as the initial energy is suitably small when the domain is a 2D solid disc. This is achieved by exploiting the structure of the exact Green function of the disc to decompose the effective viscous flux into three parts, which corresponds to the pressure term, boundary term and the remaining term respectively. In order to control the boundary term, one of the key observations is to use the geometry of the domain which sucessfully to bound the integral of the effective viscous flux where $L^1$ norm is always unbounded.

Abstract:Consider an axis-symmetric suitable weak solution of 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equation with nontrivial swirl. If the solution satisfies a slightly supercritical assumption, we will prove that v is regular. This extends the results of Chen-Strain-Tsai-Yau, Koch-Nadirashvili-Seregin-Sverak and Lei-Zhang where regularities under critical assumptions were proven.

Abstract:Smooth solutions to the axi-symmetric Navier-Stokes equations obey the following maximum principle: $$\sup_{t\geq 0}\|rv^\theta(t, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty} \leq \|rv^\theta(0, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty}.$$ We prove that all solutions with initial data in $H^{\frac{1}{2}}$ is smooth globally in time if $rv^\theta$ satisfies a kind of Form Boundedness Condition (FBC) which is invariant under the natural scaling of the Navier-Stokes equations. In particular, if $rv^\theta$ satisfies \begin{equation}\nonumber \sup_{t \geq 0}|rv^\theta(t, r, z)| \leq C_\ast|\ln r|^{- 2},\ \ r \leq \delta_0 \in (0, \frac{1}{2}),\ C_\ast < \infty, \end{equation} then our FBC is satisfied. Here $\delta_0$ and $C_\ast$ are independent of neither the profile nor the norm of the initial data. So the gap from regularity is logarithmic in nature. We also prove the global regularity of solutions if $\|rv^\theta(0, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty}$ or $\sup_{t \geq 0}\|rv^\theta(t, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty(r \leq r_0)}$ is small but the smallness depends on certain dimensionless quantity of the initial data.
On the regularity of axially-symmetric solutions to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a cylinder

Abstract:We consider the axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations in a finite cylinder $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^3$. We assume that $v_r$, $v_\varphi$, $\omega_\varphi$ vanish on the lateral boundary $\partial \Omega$ of the cylinder, and that $v_z$, $\omega_\varphi$, $\partial_z v_\varphi$ vanish on the top and bottom parts of the boundary $\partial \Omega$, where we used standard cylindrical coordinates, and we denoted by $\omega =\mathrm{curl}\, v$ the vorticity field. We use estimates and $H^3$ Sobolev estimate on the modified stream function to derive three order-reduction estimates. These enable one to reduce the order of the nonlinear estimates of the equations, and help observe that the solutions to the equations is ``almost regular''. We use the order-reduction estimates to show that the solution to the equations remains regular as long as, for any $p\in (6,\infty)$, $\| v_\varphi \|_{L^\infty_t L^p_x}/\| v_\varphi \|_{L^\infty_t L^\infty_x}$ remains bounded below by a positive number.

Abstract:In this note we investigate interior regularity criteria for suitable weak solutions to the 3D Naiver-Stokes equations, and obtain the solutions are regular in the interior if the $L^p_tL_x^q(Q_1)$ norm of the velocity is sufficiently small, where $1\leq \frac{2}{p}+\frac{3}{q}<2$ and $2\leq p\leq \infty$. It improves the recent result of $p,q>2 $ by Kwon \cite{Kwon} (J. Differential Equations 357 (2023), 1--31.), and also generalizes Chae-Wolf's $L_t^\infty L_x^{\frac32+}$ criterion \cite{CW2017} (Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 225 (2017), no. 1, 549--572.).
