Abstract:This work investigates the intricate relationship between the q-boson model, a quantum integrable system, and classical integrable systems such as the Toda and KP hierarchies. Initially, we analyze scalar products of off-shell Bethe states and explore their connections to tau functions of integrable hierarchies. Furthermore, we discuss correlation functions within this formalism, examining their representations in terms of tau functions, as well as their Schur polynomial expansions.

Abstract:For systems of evolutionary partial differential equations the tau-structure is an important notion which originated from the deep relation between integrable systems and quantum field theories. We show that, under a certain non-degeneracy condition, existence of a tau-structure implies integrability. As an example, we apply this principle to provide a new proof of the integrability of the Drinfeld--Sokolov hierarchy associated to an arbitrary Kac--Moody algebra and a choice of a vertex of its Dynkin diagram.

Abstract:For an arbitrary semisimple Frobenius manifold we construct Hodge integrable hierarchy of Hamiltonian partial differential equations. In the particular case of quantum cohomology the tau-function of a solution to the hierarchy generates the intersection numbers of the Gromov–Witten classes and their descendents along with the characteristic classes of Hodge bundles on the moduli spaces of stable maps. For the one-dimensional Frobenius manifold the Hodge hierarchy is an integrable deformation of the Korteweg–de Vries hierarchy depending on an infinite number of parameters. Conjecturally this hierarchy is a universal object in the class of scalar Hamiltonian integrable hierarchies possessing tau-functions.

Abstract:We show that the generating series of some Hodge integrals involving one or two partitions are τ-functions of the KP hierarchy or the 2-Toda hierarchy, respectively. We also reformulate the results as a relationship between the relative invariants of some local Calabi-Yau geometries and integrable hierarchies and present some more examples using the topological vertex.

A Liouville transformation between the corresponding isospectral problems induces a Liouville correspondence between their flows and Hamiltonian functionals. As prototypical examples, we construct Liouville correspondences for the modified Camassa-Holm, the Novikov, the Degasperis-Procesi, the two-component Camassa-Holm and the two-component Novikov (Geng-Xue) hierarchies. In addition, a new Liouville correspondence for a certain dual Schrödinger integrable hierarchy is presented.
Fermionic integrable models and graded Borchers triples

Abstract:We provide an operator-algebraic construction of integrable models of quantum field theory on 1+1 dimensional Minkowski space with fermionic scattering states. These are obtained by a grading of the wedge-local fields or, alternatively, of the underlying Borchers triple defining the theory. This leads to a net of graded-local field algebras, of which the even part can be considered observable, although it is lacking Haag duality. Importantly, the nuclearity condition implying nontriviality of the local field algebras is independent of the grading, so that existing results on this technical question can be utilized. Application of Haag-Ruelle scattering theory confirms that the asymptotic particles are indeed fermionic. We also discuss connections with the form factor programme.

Free fermions in classical and quantum integrable models

Abstract:This thesis studies the role of free fermions in certain classical and quantum integrable models. The classical models studied are the KP and BKP hierarchies of partial differential equations. We review the presence of free fermions in the theory of these hierarchies, a topic which was established in the work of the Kyoto school. The quantum models studied are descendents and relatives of the XYZ model, or its lattice equivalent, the eight-vertex model. We give a number of new results in the context of these models, revealing the presence of fermions in typical quantities such as Bethe eigenvectors, partition functions and scalar products.

Generalized Frobenius Manifolds with Non-flat Unity and Integrable Hierarchies

Abstract:For any generalized Frobenius manifold with non-flat unity, we construct a bihamiltonian integrable hierarchy of hydrodynamic type which is an analogue of the Principal Hierarchy of a Frobenius manifold. We show that such an integrable hierarchy, which we also call the Principal Hierarchy, possesses Virasoro symmetries and a tau structure, and the Virasoro symmetries can be lifted to symmetries of the tau-cover of the integrable hierarchy. We derive the loop equation from the condition of linearization of actions of the Virasoro symmetries on the tau function, and construct the topological deformation of the Principal Hierarchy of a semisimple generalized Frobenius manifold with non-flat unity. We also give two examples of generalized Frobenius manifolds with non-flat unity and show that they are closely related to the well-known integrable hierarchies: the Volterra hierarchy, the q-deformed KdV hierarchy and the Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy.

Abstract:We derive an explicit formula for the connected $(n,m)$-point functions associated to an arbitrary diagonal tau-function $\tau_f(\boldsymbol{t}^+,\boldsymbol{t}^-)$ of the 2d Toda lattice hierarchy using fermionic computations and the boson-fermion correspondence. Then for fixed $\boldsymbol{t}^-$, we compute the KP-affine coordinates of $\tau_f(\boldsymbol{t}^+,\boldsymbol{t}^-)$. As applications, we present a unified approach to compute various types of connected double Hurwitz numbers, including the ordinary double Hurwitz numbers, the double Hurwitz numbers with completed $r$-cycles, and the mixed double Hurwitz numbers. We also apply this method to the computation of the stationary Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb P^1$ relative to two points.

Abstract:The goal of this note is to study integrable properties of a generating function of the HOMFLY-PT invariants of the Hopf link colored with different representations. We demonstrate that such a generating function is a $\tau$-function of the KP hierarchy. Furthermore, this Hopf generating function in the case of composite representations, which is a generating function of the 4-point functions in topological string (corresponding to the resolved conifold with branes on the four external legs), is a $\tau$-function of the universal character(UC) hierarchy put on the topological locus. We also briefly discuss a simple matrix model associated with the UC hierarchy.

Abstract:Based on a class of extended Lie superalgebras that we constructed, we present a method for generating 2+1 dimensional nonisospectral super integrable hierarchies. By considering some applications, we derive three kinds of 2+1 dimensional nonisospectral super Dirac integrable hierarchies and AKNS integrable hierarchies. Moreover, super Hamiltonian structures of these 2+1 dimensional super integrable hierarchies are obtained.

Abstract:We investigate topological charge and the index theorem on finite lattices numerically. Using mean field improved gauge field configurations we calculate the topological charge Q using the gluon field definition with improved cooling and an improved field strength tensor Fμν. We also calculate the index of the massless overlap fermion operator by directly measuring the differences of the numbers of zero modes with left- and right-handed chiralities. For sufficiently fine lattices and/or sufficiently smooth field configurations we find that the gluon field definition of the topological charge is integer to better than 1% and furthermore that this agrees with the index of the overlap Dirac operator, i.e., the Atiyah-Singer index theorem is satisfied. This establishes a benchmark for reliability when calculating lattice quantities which are very sensitive to topology.

Abstract:We propose a method for generating higher-dimensional nonisospectral super integrable coupling hierarchies associated with a new type of higher-dimensional Lie superalgebra. As applications, we introduce a coupled and a multi-component super Dirac spectral problems respectively, and thus deduce a coupled generalized super integrable Dirac hierarchy and a multi-component generalized super integrable Dirac hierarchy. Additionally, we discuss the super Hamiltonian structures of the resulting higher-dimensional super Dirac hierarchies.
